Fantastic experience: I took my road test last week and I passed! This cannot happen without my driving instructor Ben. I took a total of 7 lessons, the prices were very reasonable and affordable I highly suggest purchasing their packages. From my first lesson Ben was very patient and helpful as well as honest. He always made sure to tell me what it was that I was doing wrong during my driving lessons and how to fix it. Ben is also very alert while you are driving as well as funny. He’s always either on time or early for all my lessons. Thank you sunset for helping me obtain my license!

Fantastic experience: Sunset Auto school is one of the best driving schools you can ever go to. The owner is kind, understanding, and she will work with you when it comes to pricing. They also have one of the best instructors in their school, George. He is kind, patient, and informative. By the time you are done with your lessons, you will have the required skills and a strong foundation, to help pass the road test. Furthermore, if you are worried about being treated differently because of race, color, or religion, forget about it. Everyone is treated professionally and with respect. Fantastic experience: Having read other reviews, I'm going to disagree with the ones that have rated the school with a low score. The Pre-Licensing Course(aka 5hr class) was pretty straight forward, the instructor George gave a lot of information about defensive driving and general review information of topics from the permit test. There was also a DMV instructor that joined, overall a lot of information and it was presented pretty straight forward. The driving lessons were pretty great also, I've never been behind a wheel but my instructor George made it easy to feel comfortable while driving. There is a lot of attention to detail and a lot of feedback to make you a better driver in each of these lessons. I got the package #2 which came with 5 classes, however I needed a few more extra which are $45 for each one out of the package. The extra classes were suggested by George as I wasn't ready to take my road test, but after my 8th class I was ready and scheduled my road test. The road test was taken with another student, which another review mentioned, I didn't find it to be a nuisance and it was great to review driving hands on and seeing another student drive too. That way we can learn from my/their potential mistakes and we can both improve. I recognized this was going to take a good portion of my day so I was ready to be away for a while. My test was in Staten Island and everything went smoothly, thanks to Sunset Auto School I passed on the first try. Thanks Mr. George and I hope new students can learn just as much or more than I did.

Fantastic experience: I took lessons back in 2021 until 2022. At first it was a bit iffy since my instructors kept changing up. But after I got my lessons with Ben, it got more stable. He was wonderful and I passed my road test in Staten Island on the first try! I would strongly recommend Ben as your instructor.

Lo siento no sabia que hablar ingles era un requisito para comprar clases. No, hablo bien Ingles pero entiendo bien, me senti discriminada.

Positive experience: In May, I purchased package 3. I was given a booklet which listed my scheduled lessons. My instructor was Ben. Ben was a very good instructor as he was on time and patient during lessons. I was dissatisfied with services provided on my last interaction. My last lesson was scheduled the day of my road test. I was informed by Angela once I complete my last lesson, I would be going to take my road test. I was instructed to arrive @6:45 am for my last lesson and road test in Staten Island. Upon my arrival, there were 2 other individuals in the car along with my instructor. ALL of my 9 sessions have ONLY been my instructor and I. I was taken aback as a result of this. To get to the test site, it took 45 mins. An individual had their lesson scheduled right before their road test as well. I was unhappy due to the inconvenience of NOT having my full 45 min session due to having to accommodate the other individual whose road test was earlier than mines. My road test was scheduled for 10am, the others were at 9:30 am & 11am. Despite paying the additional $30 to take my test in Staten Island, I had to accommodate others. After taking my road test, I had to wait for the person who had their test at 11am. I was highly upset that I was not informed of the inconvenience on top of my lesson. I did not get back to Brooklyn until 12pm. I informed Angela of my dissatisfaction the same day. Her response was that you shouldn’t expect to have the car to yourself and it would not be something they communicate to their clients as it is standard practice. Angela did not validate my concerns at all. Instead, she inquired if I passed the test. Angela made it seem acceptable that your lessons are not one on one being that there were others in the car during my lesson. For future prospects, see how it works out if you wanted to bring your friend/ parents on your one to one lessons. I guarantee there would be push back on this from Sunset Auto. But yet they can fill a car to ensure their business needs are met. In addition, my frustrations were heightened due to seeing another Sunset Auto car at the site while I waited. It was only one person in the car. If there was another car that was going to be coming later why not have the later appointment in the car arriving later? Scheduling seems to be an issue for sure hence the gap in lessons. August 4 In response to the business owner: You have missed my point. If I was taking a 45 minute lesson and the road test that takes "20" minutes, why must I take 5 hours out of my day to do just that? Maximum it would take 3 hours including travel time. 2 additional hours waiting around for what? To watch someone else practice? Wait around for someone else to complete their road test? Obviously, you do not communicate with clients about the INCONVENIECE. I was inconvenienced because of your scheduling. I was the one who had to accommodate others since my lesson was cut short due to your scheduling. It is not false information. I want future clients to know this, so they can prepare for unprofessionalism and lack of communication.

Negative experience: By far the worst driving school ever. The 5 hour class isn’t even in Spanish or even in a bilingual setting dispute most of their near by population is Spanish speaking. I called and ask if there was any way my mother can have someone give it to her in Spanish since she doesn’t understand English and I was told very rudely “no” with no explanation or anything. Not to mention being lied to before signing up being told there be a translator through the whole process. Ridiculous. Don’t go here.

Negative experience: Honestly it was a bad experience ! Ben the instructed was nice I went on one lesson & lost one lesson .I called the day before to reschedule a guy there said it was fine i suggested to move it closer to my road test date that was not yet scheduled and the man agreed it was ok this is all via phone .I decided to go in to the driving school the following week to schedule the lessons I paid for closer to the road test date that was not yet scheduled & to see if the dmv updated for any openings & they didn’t (because of covid). The lady that works there tell me I lost the lesson because she paid Ben the instructor & there are no more available dates I didn’t notify anyone and I did !! I explained to her & asked for my money back & she convinced me although I’m loosing a lesson to be patient with her I have one more lesson available ( I’m guessing because I paid for the car to the road test, scheduling & lessons she wasn’t trying to loose out on any money) not to mention she held on to my original five hour I chucked it up because my permit was expiring in July. (worst decision ever) All this took place in the middle of April she told me to just hold off she would call me in a few days to tell me updated dmv information & to see what day works for me in scheduling for the road test... she didn’t !! I had to call her ,so May 6th I called to ask her what’s going on it’s been weeks she ask for my name ,I felt like she was telling me a bunch of bologna I requested for my money again !! because I looked online and seen that the dmv was actually scheduling appointments, what she did was put me on hold & book it while I was on hold with her & told me my test was on the 12th of May which was 6 days away !!! I said how you scheduled me that date and you didn’t even check with me 1st! she said that’s all they had available in staten Island ! So be at the office at 10am ! I can’t forget this part she also told me she didn’t have any available driving lessons with anyone ! at anytime ! but one & that’s right before my road test on may 12th ( talk about short notice, no communication, Just straight horrible ! ) I asked for my money back again & she said no everything is in motion so basically if I didn’t go I would have lost my money .I was extremely annoyed I hated the way they handled me from the very beginning I found them a little rude but maybe I just caught them on bad days cause they lady was nicer in person then on the phone ... I regret not just taking the lost on the $40 because not going with my 1st instinct I lost hundreds. The day of the test Ben took me driving the lesson went good but my head was not in a good space I felt rushed & unprepared I never drove in that car before & Ben teaching was so different from how I learned to drive ,park etc he didn’t want to confuse me so he just did the basic turn left , turn right ,good luck thing ...long story short I failed ! ..... I went home googled & went to alpha driving school took 4 lessons & they scheduled me for the road test the 21st of may ! & I passed ! They was so nice to me ! Patient! respectful! & professional!!!!! I would recommend them !!! Over sunset driving any day sorry !

Considering that my permit was about to expire within the 2wk frame that I went, they were able to schedule my road exam asap. Took my lessons with Enrique, he is very patient and well teach you different techniques, in whichever you’ll feel comfortable. Parking has been a breeze, thanks to him. You have the option to take your exam in Staten Island or Red Hook. I pasted my road test on my first try (in SI.) Was recommended here by friends and I continue to recommend other people.

They were always there for me when I needed help with the scheduling of the lessons and the road test appointments. You also can't go wrong with their discounted packages. The 5 hour class was very informative and enjoyable. The instructor I was given was amazing as well, and helped me pass my road test at first try. During the period that I was taking the driving lessons and the road test appointments, I had a very busy schedule with college and work, but they helped me with getting the best schedule so I would be able to do the driving lessons and the road test without a conflicted schedule. I have many family members who attended Sunset driving school and there will be more to attend. Personally, I had a great experience being a student at this driving school and I want to thank you so much for helping me with finding the best schedule. I definitely recommend this driving school. They really care for their students. Amazing staff :) My advice - - do not rely on any bad review there is for this school.

Fantastic experience: I’ve seen mixed reviews about bob. And at first I could relate that he was a bit too tough for someone who never even turned the keys to a car , let alone know how to drive it. But in my honest opinion he helped someone pass the road test in less than 3 months (me , 2months to be exact ) .I’ve never turned on a car or know how to do anything and for that I can assure you all that he is the best driving instructor there is. His explanations makes things so much easier and he knows how to teach COMPLETELY NEW drivers (like myself) how to drive.Big shoutout to the main man George for fixing the paper work and arranging everything. Also shoutout to Angela for starting me off. Enrique is the man to go to for 5 hour classes , it’ll feel like 30 minutes but you gain so much knowledge. Highly recommend coming here.

Fantastic experience: Excellent driving school. They really care about their students. They take time to actually listen and work with you as an individual! My daughter had failed twice at other places. Sunset helped to restore her confidence and equip her with the real skills she needed and she was able to pass the test! Positive experience: I went to another driving school in Manhattan before, and I appreciate that this school always tries to schedule you for the same instructor, instead of trying to make the most money out of you by giving lessons as frequent as possible. If your schedule allows, I recommend always stick to the same instructor because every instructor has different things to say about what’s right or wrong. Scheduling 2 weeks earlier usually helps you get the time that worked for me in my case. Ricky is the best instructor I had! He would point out your mistake immediately, and his method to parallel parking may is very easy to follow (I’ve been taught at least 3 different ways before because of the previous school). Due to my tight schedule, I also had to take lessons with another instructor Mohammed. I was very paranoid about failing again, so I took more than 12 lessons in total. The first time with Mohammad, I was a little stressed when he told me some things were not correct (but was ok by other instructors), but the second time before and at the road test, I was more comfortable. And yes, I did pass the road test! Overall I’m pretty happy with my experience at Sunset. However, I think the school could improve a little by giving people the flexibility to call to schedule classes. They could even set up to accept payment over the phone so what’s the big deal about having to go to the school office to schedule? Also, there was an incident once I missed my class in the middle of some headaches at work, but they didn’t call or text me at all when I didn’t show up. I realized I missed the class right when the class was about to end.. which was indeed my fault of course, but had they called me when I didn’t show up, I was just 5 min walk away from the pickup spot, then I wouldn’t have wasted $35. The instructor told me he’s not given contact of students because the school is afraid the students will schedule classes with the instructor directly without the school (and school wouldn’t get commission). Which makes 0 sense - they meet at every class, so plenty of opportunities to attempt that, but most people go to a school because they can trust a school and the school vehicle more. In a word, the school is decent, the service could improve.

The methods you teach in driving to me were very easy to learn. I really like how you put all of your students in different neighborhoods to get comfortable with driving. I am so thankful to you for helping me feel confident in driving and also having fun while learning. He is the best so don't hesitate to take him you will not regret it. I'm so happy I finally got my license on my third attempt. Take Ricky, he is awesome and the staff at Sunset Auto school are also very nice and helpful. They are so attentive to anything. Positive experience: My sister went to this driving school and got treated poorly by an instructor named Bob. Stay away from bob. The man at the desk who attended me when I went to report Bob was excellent. I feel bad I didn’t get his name. That’s the only reason I’m giving 3 stars was for the helpful man. Other than that. They shouldn’t have instructors who are rude and impatient and mean like Bob. Again, don’t take Bob

Fantastic experience: I'm extremely happy with the service here so far. Ben was my driving instructor and was clear and concise in all of his direction. I learned a lot from him, as well as in my 5 hour course. Sunset auto has been extremely flexible in their driving lessons, which I'm grateful for given the unpredictable hours I work. I 100% recommend them, great staff, great prices- really can't go wrong.

Fantastic experience: I'm speaking for the 5 hour class only but it was amazing! Very informative and fun at the same time. Did not feel like a drag at all, I definitely recommend to anyone who needs to get the pre licensing course done with. Staff is very helpful and understandable had a couple of issues and they were able to accommodate to my needs. Again highly recommended, Instructor made the class enjoyable and made sure everybody was attentive.

Fantastic experience: Honestly, this is the only driving school i would recommend! The instructors are very knowledgeable and patient. They definitely give you all the tips and tricks not only on passing the road test but aslo driving in general. Everyone at the school is extremely nice and friendly. The school has been around for years! My mom, brothers and myself have gone to this school and passed our test with flying colors! If you are considering a school to take driving classes and the five hour, which is the best give hour class in Brooklyn, definitely go to sunset driving school!

Negative experience: DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME TAKING a 5hr CLASS HERE it's not informative you will learn nothing at all relevant to start driving besides from a video on road rage and the last few minutes and that’s just how to sit in the car -_-. Plus depending on which person is running the class the first few minutes would be used shaming people about why they've taken long to get a drivers lesson (Referring to S.Wilson). I had a friend who I later found taken their 5hr class too and had the exact same experience and the guy talks to students condescending tho I could careless no one should have to tolerate that after spending their hard earned money to be there. The level of CUSTOMER SERVICE IS POOR only one person out of the whole staff gave me service like I'm not being a bother or I'm wasting their time. Some staff seems sexist too especially the owner. DRIVER LESSONS CARS ARE GOOD that's the only thing I could give this place. The instructor Ben I had was terrible at explaining also if you're a nervous driver not that I am but he would not help he called out things seconds before I do it as if I’m going to forget which actually made me slllightly nervous making me think a accident was about to happen (rechecking mirrors). At another place I tried instructors were friendly and made me feel comfortable behind the wheel. Anyways I could not think of one person with a good attitude at this place yet I still kept mines best possible. On a last note scheduling ROAD TEST here they’ll schedule a road test charge you and tell you that they’re going to schedule a lesson before and it’s included in the charge (was told twice) then have you pay for that lesson day of and tell you how important and helpful it’ll be. If I didn’t do drivers research I probably would of done terrible on that road test. WASTE OF MONEY NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE and I’ve been to another driver school unfortunately I did not use them to purchase a package because they did not have lessons available near another in the summer (Guess that happens when a driver school is good they get full). PS. THIS PLACE DOES NOT GO TO YOU. YOU WOULD HAVE TO GO TO THEM FOR LESSONS. For $300+ packages payed with someone's hard earned and your average driver school usually picking a student up it adds another thumbs down for this place...I honestly don't believe these other post "family atmosphere" and no details. Please take my word for it. Especially if you where born and raised in the area you could ask others like I unfortunately did after and they had a similar experience.

Fantastic experience: Sunset Auto School is by far the best school I have ever been too. I had been practicing on my driving for 3 months in a family members car, when i decided to take a lesson with the school. I had a road test appt on monday December 19, 2016 in coney island.Based on the fact that my road test was coming up, I decided to schedule a lesson with sunset auto school on saturday december 17,2016 with Mr. Ben. Mr Ben is by far the best instructor that I have ever had. He fixed a couple of mistakes that i was making which helped me a lot in passing my test on that monday. The school, the owner, the receptionist are all very nice, and welcoming. I highly recommend this school to anyone who wants to pass their road test on the first try. Thank you sunset auto school!☺

Fantastic experience: I took my 5 hour course at Sunset Auto school and to be honest i wasnt expecting much for $40. ive heard many stories about taking the 5 hour class being a drag where they throw on a video and you watch that for 5 hours etc.. and thats exactly what i was expecting! Tommy the instructor was amazing. i wasnt expecting to learn much but he did a great job teaching us the in and out about the road test,signs and much more. I would definitely recommend this school for anyone that needs to take the 5 hour course. I will be taking driving lessons with this school this week.

Negative experience: Worst service ever! I called that miserable place and the rude blonde senior lady with a Russian accent answered, I tried to schedule an appointment for a 1 hour driving lesson and told her that my road test is 3 days later, she said we have openings but come to the office to make the arrangement, i asked her if it's possible to be done over the phone, she said no you must come to the office, so i went, i said hi, she replied have a seat (no greetings) and she ignored me and started taking phone calls, about 10 customers called and she gave them appointments for lessons and then when she finished i told her that i called earlier and that she refused to give me an appointment, she said sorry, all the openings are taken now, i said but you told me that you have openings and asked me to come to your office! she said yes because customers called and booked all the slots before thursday (my test date)! then when i asked her why could she schedule for others over the phone but not for me, she replied yes because you have to come to the office to make a copy of your learner permit.. the whole conversation with her, she was very rude and very unprofessional. worst service ever.. I contacted that miserable place relying on the reviews here, but apparently the reviews were fake.

Fantastic experience: Everyone at this school is so kind and friendly. I have never had a bad experience with anyone and I absolutely recommend this school to anyone. You will be treated with respect and will not regret choosing this school.

Fantastic experience: I just passed my road test this morning and i cannot say anything bad, about this place. From the first second i walked in for my 5 hour class it felt like i was walking in a family atmosphere. The 5 hour class felt like one hour as we were just laughing the whole way through while learning about the important rules of driving. One huge tip of advice about not only going to this place, but other driving schools IT TAKES TIME it took almost a whole year for me to get my license after I got my permit. If your gonna go to Sunset Auto School be patient, the driving instructors are excellent and they genuinely care about you. I called the receptionist in the morning when I passed my road test and she was absolutely excited for me, it warmed my heart. I absolutely recommend this place if you live in the five boroughs over any other place, especially if you live in Brooklyn.

Fantastic experience: Excellent experience. The instructors are highly knowledgeable and experienced. A little word of advice to those who are applying for a driver's license and have little or no driving experience - This is the school for you if you want to pass the test in first shot. The fees may seem a little steep but is totally worth it. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: I must say this driving school was recommended to me by 3 of my friends, and I must say Im very happy I listened .everyone in this driving school is so great calm and patient and they help you to your every need they work really fast .It took me one time to pass my road test the instructor I had was Mike very calm and explains everything to you.
