Fantastic experience: When my daughter was taking driving courses and driver's training behind the wheel at a different private driving school, it was near impossible to get appointments. To be fair, it was Covid time so that was obviously a huge factor. Now, as my son has been with Excel, we are easily able to find a class to attend that worked with his schedule. Scheduling drives has been incredibly easy. And, after the first 2, he and his driver's trainer behind the wheel would schedule between the 2 of them which was excellent. So after each drive, he had at least 2 more scheduled. I also really appreciated that we could skip the observations (for an additional fee) and replace with another behind the wheel drive instead. I thought that would be a more beneficial exercise than sitting in the back seat of the car. Also, we are able to take the driver's test for the DMV through Excel (for an additional fee) so on license day we only need to show up and get his license. Also, he's a good driver but after all the behind the wheel he always tells me what they worked on and I notice he's always a bit sharper in his driving after sessions. Also, anytime I've had to call in, the people I've spoken with have been friendly, responsive and professional. I highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Mary was a wonderful instructor. My daughter learned so much from her. She was easy for her to schedule her drives with. She always got back to her right away and would come pick her up and drop her off at home. She made her feel comfortable and confident while driving with her. I would recommend her again and again.

Fantastic experience: This is my 3rd child that has attended Excel. It is convenient for me and they enjoy it. I feel like they are much more prepared for driving on their own having completed Excel Driving School.

Fantastic experience: My daughter just started classes here this week. She took a practice written test at Excel yesterday. The answers were reviewed with the students making sure the students were educated regarding the relevant topics. Today, I took her to the DMV to get her drivers permit. The written test has 35 questions. Since she got the first 28 questions correct, the written test was automatically stopped, and she passed getting her drivers permit. So far so good -Thank you!

Fantastic experience: Our experience with Excel Driving School was outstanding. The Office Team at the 5th Avenue location were so helpful when we had any questions. The in-class instruction and in car driving instructor really helped prepare our child for getting her driver's license and be ready to be a good driver!

Fantastic experience: Good experience with all 3 of my children! The bonus at the end is the drive test, so all you have to do is head to the DMV and get the license. Mark, Kathleen and Mary were all wonderful instructors.

Fantastic experience: Great program for my teen. Only difficult thing is getting the drives scheduled - you have to text the instructors. Seems crazy there is not a website to do this. Excel corporate was very helpful in getting the driving hours in before my son turned 16. Also helped navigate the actual license process. Recommend taking the driving test at Excel!

Fantastic experience: Excel made this process so easy! Scheduling for both classroom and driving was seemless, the customer service is excellent. I definitely recommend Excel for anyone considering private driving school options. We will be back with our other kids in a couple of years.

Fantastic experience: My daughter just wrapped up her final drive with Kathleen Quinn. We have nothing but great things to say about our experience with Mrs. Quinn and Wheaton Excel Driving School. Our daughter has been set up to be a responsible and great driver from everything she's learned. She is already a better driver than our other child who took drivers ed through school. We will definitely be using Excel for our 3rd child and hope that he has Mrs. Quinn.

Fantastic experience: My son had a great experience attending Excel Driving School. Carlos, his instructor was wonderful. We opted to do a driving test through Excel as well, great decision. Easy and without waiting several days like at the DMV. Highly recommend!

Negative experience: Refuses to provide in car driving lessons to students until they are 3-4 months from being eligible to get their license. They don't teach your kid to drive. They take your money and let you do that. In our case, our child will have permit and completed classroom instruction and then still have to wait over 6 months before they can get an in car lesson. Hard to schedule and poor approach. Use another driving school!

Fantastic experience: We had a great experience at Excel. The in class part was smooth, but what really stood out was the driving/observation piece. We’ve heard that the other local program presented difficulties in scheduling drive times. Excel worked directly with my teen to book all of his sessions in a timely fashion. I felt that our instructor (Mark) went over and above by offering times during the holiday weeks and working with my teen’s schedule to fit things in. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Had many personal issues delay taking the behind the wheel lessons, as soon as they were cleared up my behind the wheel instructor Mark Droba did everything he could to allow me to get my license as soon as possible (I was already 16) and he guided me through a lot of challenges perfectly, allowed me to make minor mistakes and learn from them. He also made driving a lot of fun and not stressful at all. Excel and Mark are amazing

Fantastic experience: My son started driver's ed early in 2020 with Excel (Wheaton location). When the pandemic hit, Excel pivoted extremely quickly and moved all classes online. He ended up finishing the classroom portion by the end of March instead of June, as was originally planned. Once behind the wheel lessons could start, I was very pleased with the efforts they made to keep both the student and the instructor safe. My son enjoyed his lessons with Mark and feel like my son is a good driver thanks to the lessons provided by Mark. They were easy to schedule and kept him on track to get his license right on time. He enjoyed the time he spent learning with Mark. In addition, the ability to have the behind the wheel test handled through Excel vs. the DMV is a game changer! It made the process of getting a first time driver's license so much simpler since the test had already happened. I highly recommend Excel. Also, the customer service is top notch! Each time I've asked a question online, I get a personal call to make sure my question has been answered. I highly recommend Excel Driving School.

Negative experience: As an adult learner I had one lesson with Mary, which she was more interested in talking about personal life than teaching. Overall it was a discouraging experience.

Fantastic experience: Both of my sons are currently in Excel's Drivers Education Program. Excel has shifted beautifully over to remote teaching during the pandemic, and they have established safety protocols in all of their vehicles, so that Behind the Wheel sessions can be resumed in a responsible manner. I'm so grateful!

Negative experience: Their customer service person very rude. She should not be doing customer service with that attitude. I called to enroll for behind the wheel driving program and she was not helpful at all.

Fantastic experience: Both my Daughters went to excel driving school. They both had Mark as their teacher for driving in the car. He did a great job and both girls successfully received their drivers license. The classes are informative and easy to schedule. The office did a great job of processing all the paperwork.

Positive experience: Mary from the Schaumburg office was my teen’s behind the wheel instructor and was AWESOME! She was positive and encouraging. I felt safe putting my daughter in a car with her. The Wheaton classroom instructor embarrassed my student for forgetting to put her name on a quiz. Shame is a poor teaching tool and the reason I took of one star.

Negative experience: HORRIBLE OVERALL EXPERIENCE. POOR COMMUNICATION. TOOK ALMOST A YEAR AND HALF FOR MY SON TO GET HIS LICENSE. NEVER AGAIN!

Positive experience: overall good experience. We participated in summer class option. Small class sized, assisted in learning. Very well organized web site for scheduling driving classes and tracking remaining driving hours.
