The Motorcycle Training Center (MTC) offers an exceptional learning environment for those seeking to master motorcycle riding skills, whether you are a beginner or someone with prior experience looking to refine your techniques. Many students have praised the skilled instructors, notably Brian and William, for their patience, professionalism, and ability to create a supportive atmosphere, making learning enjoyable and engaging.

Key Highlights:

  • Highly knowledgeable and friendly instructors, including Brian, William, and Del, who are dedicated to the success of their students.
  • A strong emphasis on safety, ensuring that students not only prepare for their licenses but also understand safe riding practices thoroughly.
  • Fun and interactive classes that incorporate humor and real-world scenarios, helping students build confidence and practical skills.
  • A welcoming environment for students of all skill levels, with many praising the supportive culture among classmates.

While the center maintains strict policies on attendance, emphasizing the importance of being on time for a better learning experience, they are committed to addressing feedback and improving clarity in their communications.

In summary, MTC is highly recommended for those looking to learn how to ride safely and effectively, and many students have reported transformative experiences in their classes, preparing them well for the open road.

Fantastic experience: I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I was pretty anxious going into this course and by the end of the first exercise I was having a lot of fun and learning so much. Brian is an absolute legend of an instructor and has the patience of a saint. Super positive and encouraging. Not only do I recommend this course, I will be returning to do my advanced course one day. Thank you Brian and MTC for one of the coolest learning experiences I’ve ever had!

Fantastic experience: I’ll never allow anyone I know to attend a motorcycle course that isn’t this location or any other hosted by them. Mr. Del was mine and my buddies instructor. His professionalism, desire to see you succeed and help you reach that target of passing his course is unmatched. He’s been doing this for years and it shows in the best way possible. We started on 125cc cruisers and 125cc Kawasaki pitbikes.(essentially). I would say ask to be placed on the cruiser if you are over 5.8’. The course and the teachings were very helpful in sharpening my understanding of safe and better riding. Do yourself a favor and schedule your class here over anywhere else!

Fantastic experience: Great class with my instructor Qiana! I had ridden a motorcycle one single time many moons ago. Since then it’s been a goal of mine to get my M1 license and get more knowledge. This is what that course provided. From the first day that it was freezing and very windy, Qiana was out there setting up the course and instructing us clearly on what to do on the bike. She always asked if we had any questions and if we felt comfortable enough to move on the next part. She demonstrated every exercise clearly and a few times to make sure we understood. I highly recommend taking the class here and hopefully with her! I’ll recommend anyone that asks me how I got my M1! Thanks Qiana and ride safe!

Fantastic experience: Front start to finish it is full of information. Not knowing what to expect is the best part. Del was awesome answering all questions and adding more information and keeping the class on track. Liked the group getting involved and detailed on each topic. Above all expectations I had from the start of the class. The lessons on riding was step by step and demonstrated each lesson. Del built our confidence up and kept everyone involved to meet each challenge. Recommend this class to any person getting a license for a Trike. Safety, skill and mental to be ready to ride. Had a great time. Looking forward to ride in the Hill Country.

Negative experience: From the singling out of individual students to the blatant disregard for making people feel uncomfortable. Just those combinations alone I would strongly suggest you stray from this place. As someone who’s supported and recommended this place of business for multiple years I will no longer do so. I’ll let all my customers know. This isn’t the first time, apparently, just read the rest of the horrid reviews. No students should ever feel rushed or unsafe in a MSF course. Dear owner if you care to respond with how I wasn’t on your roster, you’re right I wasn’t. But my coworkers and many a customer have been. Utter disappointment. The response from "The Owner"... wow I hate to say that we recommend people to your location. I could provide a date, a name but why would I single out someone like that. Clearly you know you have a problem, the reviews are there.

What a load. No names, no dates. Just generalizations from here say . We take real reviews seriously, this isn’t one of them. Read the reviews, and the response, all of them.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend this course. Instructor Brian B. was organized, professional, knowledgeable, and a great teacher! Learned so much. You could tell his goal went beyond ensuring certification. He was engaged in equipping his students with as much knowledge, safety, and skills as possible. One of those instructors who truly cares about what he does and those he impacts. Side note: My son took this course with a different instructor a few weeks before I did and he was just as impressed. Y’all, go take this course!

Fantastic experience: Great course and Brian was an outstanding coach. Learned a lot and I already was experienced but going forward I will be a better rider and now I'm legally driving. Positive experience: It's fun and good learning but training motorcycles are super small doesn't help to get used to being on a big bike

Motorcycle Training Center
Motorcycle Training Center

Semir, Thank you for your review. Because we are training new riders, the Motorcycle Safety Foundation has set out rules for what types of training bikes we can use in the class, they must be under a certain engine size, under a certain seat height, and under a certain weight limit. In other words, small, light, low power bikes. This is to help new learners more easily handle these bikes as they learn to ride them. When people ask us about this we tell them "When you take Drivers Ed for a car, they don't teach you in an F350 or a Corvette or a Cadillac, they teach you in a small, light, short car. All the controls are in the same places and all the principles are the same, but you will have to translate the skills you learn to whatever bike you will be riding". Thank you for taking our class.

Fantastic experience: This was the absolute best motorcycle training I ever could have asked for. As a woman, I was pretty nervous about this. It was my very first time driving a motorcycle, but they walked me through it from start to finish. By day 2, I was zipping around the course with ease and passed the final evaluation with minimal issues. Brian, my instructor, was absolutely phenomenal. His passion for motorcycles is clearly evident, and he loves what he does. We did have a small snafu where there was a wrong link in the documentation I was sent, which caused me to take the wrong course. VERIFY your course. If it's a beginning course, the state requirement is 6 hours. I only had the 3 hour course as an option when I clicked the link and that's what I took. The materials on the website and courses could be a little less confusing, so if you have questions, ask. In the end, I had to take the 6 hour course which is essentially the 3 hour course extended. I didn't learn much more but I did lose an additional 3 hours. That said, I learned a lot and enjoyed my experience very much. I cannot thank Brian enough for taking such good care of me!

Motorcycle Training Center

Charity, I'm glad you enjoyed the course! When you took the course we had just switched to new version of the MSF course and our confirmation, and MSF's website, both needed to be more clear. We have updated our confirmation to be as clear as possible and MSF has also made improvements to prevent this in the future. Thank you for the review and feedback.

Fantastic experience: Okay, so I rode years ago. I had an accident in 2007 and decided, due to gas prices, that I needed to get back on a bike. I took the class on Oct 27th and 28t, 2022. I shared my experience of the accident with Brian the instructor and the class. Let me say, what a group of classmates. All were very supportive. Brian was also very informative. He seemed to know my fear but without to much pressure he let me ease into the riding. First day was easy and went fairly well. Second day, well let just say if it isn't raining you ain't training. Our course was wet in the morning. And, there it is, I was the first to drop a bike as my tire slid over the paint on the course. My confidence was hit hard. Luckily I know how to fall and rolled up onto my feet and shut the bike off. Brian was worried about me as the rider, but I was good to go. Laughed about it with the class but admitted the embarrassment. Being shakey the rest of the day I kept pushing. Brian kept calmly coaching me when I asked for help. I honestly felt like I was the worst rider in the course, and probably was. But, you know what. When it came to the riding test I made a perfect score. Brian looked at me and said, "Mike, you killed it!" He made comments that we were his best class because how we engaged with eachother. Maybe that was a key, but Brian's calm coaching when someone is nervous was also a huge part as well. Once I log some time on a bike I will return for the more advance course one day. Brian, you were awesome, thanks!

Mike, Thank you so much for sharing. Each class is different and each rider is different. That's part of what makes it fun and interesting. Good luck. Stay safe. We look forward to seeing you and at BRC2.

Negative experience: Horrible customer service, very rude and insulting. All they care about is money and they like to hang up on you. They give no sort of refunds at all. So if you’re planning on spending almost 300 on this class make sure you know you will pass. Their motorcycles are old, heavy, and broken too.

This is 1 of 3 one star reviews received within 18 minutes. Clearly they are all from the same person and/or his friends. I assume this is from Thomas Gutierrez. Thomas attended the class, and had difficulty learning to ride the motorcycle. At one point he had an accident and dropped the bike. The coach took extra time, extra practice, and talked to Thomas, but Thomas continued to struggle. After witnessing Thomas continue to not be in control of the bike after more practice the coach talked to Thomas and they both decided that he should not continue. People think that we are here to teach them to ride a motorcycle and we are, but even more important than that we try to make sure that we keep our customers safe and try to prevent accidents. We would rather council you out of the class and have you mad at us then have you injured. Also, its ok to not pass the class on the first try. About 95% of people do pass on the first try but everyone learns differently and at different speeds. There is no shame in having to take the class more then one time to learn to safely ride a motorcycle. Thomas called our office and our manager called him back. They were talking about what happened and were trying to work it out. We may/usually give a discount to take the class a second time, but the coach was not sure that Thomas would be able to pass if he took it a second time so we were hesitant to take any more of his money if we didn't think he would be successful, this is when some one else (Thomas' father?) got on the phone and started yelling at the manager. After trying to talk to this person and not get yelled at, the manager finally had to hang up because this other person didn't want to talk, they just wanted to yell at us. If you are unhappy and want to give us a bad review that's fine. We try to make everyone happy but some times we just can't please everyone. Giving us three 1 star reviews is just wrong. 2 of them are basically lies.

Fantastic experience: William was a rockstar instructor. He genuinely WANTS you to learn and will try to teach to your learning style. He had a very easygoing laidback nature that helped us feel confident on our bikes. I did not think I could learn to ride (let alone drive a standard engine) in under 2 days and under 8 hours on a bike. He made something very intimidating become something fun while still reinforcing the danger of the risk we are about to embark on.

Learning to ride a motorcycle and a standard can both be challenging. Glad you were successful. Fantastic experience: Took the motorcycle course back in March with William as my instructor. He was funny and patient with me as I had never driven a motorcycle before, and even allowed me extra time aside from everyone else to continue practicing my turns. It was easy to learn on the 125s provided. Paired with the classroom instruction I feel more comfortable cruising around on my own. Instruction was early when the heat wasn't so bad... I do not recommend taking this course in the summer. Spring/Fall/Winter in South Texas is the smartest choice. I appreciate the laid back instruction that focused on safety before anything else. Thanks again William, you are awesome!

Motorcycle Training Center
Motorcycle Training Center

Martin. You are right about the heat. Its hot in the summer, then you are wearing long sleeves, long pants, boots, gloves, helmet, on the hot parking lot on a running motorcycle! Lots of people take the class in the heat of the summer, but if that's a concern for anyone, I always recommend taking it in a cooler part of the year. Thank you.

Newsflash owner, have some humility and treat your customers better. Based on some of these 1 star reviews you're in for a reckoning in the form a competitor that will eventually do everything right where you couldn't if you don't change. And please stop using the fake 5 star reviews lol. Just like you call bs on every 1 star review, I call bs on every 5 star review. Have a good day.

Motorcycle Training Center
Motorcycle Training Center

Jesus, there is not one word in your review that has anything to do with your experience with MTC! You rail against fake reviews but that exactly what your review is. You give MTC 1 star and insult us but nothing say nothing about your experience with us! When did you take the class? Where did you take the class? who was your coach? What happened to you that was not right? Maybe if you would call the office and talk to us we might be able to work something out. I guess we'll never know because instead of treating us with the respect that you demand we treat you with, you would rather hurl insults with no actual details. To everyone else reading this. MTC trains thousands of students a year. Most are happy. A few are not. If its our fault we will make it right, but if you show up late for class, do not bring the required gear, or do not read the emails we sent you and follow the instructions we can't help you. If you have questions call us and we will answer them, if you need help before the class call us. (not 30 minutes before the class!) We 100% want all our customers to be happy and successful. You pay us for a service and agree to the terms of the service. We provide that service that we promised to provide. We both have to hold up our end of the contract!

Fantastic experience: The instructor was very friendly and eccentric. If you have absolutely no experience on a motorcycle don’t be afraid to start here. If you can balance a bike you can learn how to ride a motorcycle quickly here.

Thanks Tom. This is the basic class. People with no previous experience come to us all the time. You are right, you do have to be able to balance a bike. That is about the only prerequisite that we have. Thank you for your review.

Fantastic experience: I just took the MSF course at Rolling Oaks mall and it was a great experience. I am a new rider, and the class taught me how to ride and how to be safe. The instructors, William and Dale, were nice, helpful, and very knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: I took the class back in July. William was the teacher. He did a great job. Yes, you get your mistakes pointed out... but that's what you're there to do...learn from your mistakes. He was also quick to point when you did something right and when you corrected your mistakes. It was a very good class, and I got a lot out of it. I think we need to get William a joke book for Christmas!

I'm not sure about the other review, but I took the course about 8 months ago with my friend Steve (see his review) and I loved it!. Fantastic experience: I took this class last weekend and felt like I really learned a lot about motorcycle safety and technique. Both instructors were awesome and made it fun to learn. Not sure why there are complaints about finding the class, If you read the clearly specific directions provided prior to showing up for the class, you will have no problem finding the location. I would definitely recommend this course for any first time motorcyclists.

Fantastic experience: Just finished my motorcycle training class this past weekend at Rolling Oaks Mall, 2 day course. William Flottman is a great instructor. Very knowledgeable and willing to help students. Instructor William took his time to explain and re- explain every aspect of the course. Including key points in the book with emphasis on rider safety and awareness. I feel more knowledgeable about motorcycles and my skills have improved greatly. Need more instructors like Williams. Only issue is he needs a bigger TV. Get the man a bigger TV. Also be professional and courteous. If class starts at 8AM. Be there 7:50AM. Will not wait up for you.

Fantastic experience: I Finished the weekend course on Dec 8th. Upon registering I received an email with ALL the info you will need. I mean everything from directions to explaining all you will need to do. Especially about not being late. We had a great group in our class. William did a great job with all the first timers. I never been on a bike and did fine. I recommend this course with William.

Fantastic experience: Arrive early and be on time! They don’t wait! Plus it’s just respectful of other people’s time. I took the class a couple weeks ago. I literally knew nothing about riding. The instructor was great. Taught all the basic to us. I had no complaints about anything we learned. Only Thing that was a issue was bathroom breaks outside. Going in to the mall is a pain. But they are working on it. The instructors knew there stuff and made the class fun. Also, dress appropriately because your going to be outside and inside 50/50.

Negative experience: I had paid to take the course 2 years ago (07/27/17). Was unsure of the location since I didn't see any cars parked there initially and not a single motorcycle. Actually passed someone else in the class in the parking lot. Got to the door less than 5 minutes after 8. He had already locked himself in the room and didn't open it until they went outside around 830. His response? "I guess you'll be on time next time." And he chuckled. I called their office on Monday (class was on a Saturday) and was offered a pitiful credit if I paid nearly full price again. I think I got the last laugh when I disputed the charge and got a refund. I went to Southwest motorcycle training instead and learned a lot. Saw a post on a Facebook group asking for recommendations and thought I'd give a recommendation to everyone. Go somewhere else.

Motorcycle Training Center

Thanks for thinking of us, Anthony. We don't "leave motorcycles out" when we're not riding them, they grow legs and walk away. You would have learned a lot at any school where you chose to be on time for class, it's the same curriculum state-wide. Regardless, we don't think the other students, who were on time, deserve to wait for students that are late. Why not be a little early, as we're sure you were the next time.

Legnar Ekim 6 years ago

Negative experience: Where should I start.... so last year I completed my online test and the next day I woke pu early to make sure I beat the traffic on 1604. Well, there was soo much traffic. I got there 3min late!!!! I knocked on the door and the instructor said I was late and he could not take me in. He was not polite at all...but it gets better. After he told me I was not allowed, I was so mad. The parking lot only had 2 cars!!!! I even took a photo of it!!! I began to walk back to the room and ask 1 final question.....well guess how was outside the class room....yup the instructor!! As soon as he saw a bit of me going his direction and went back to the class room. Either it was empty and/or just 1 person there. Really I called them up later that day and told them reason why I was late and also that the instructor was outside etc. The guy I talked to over the phone told me he could not do a refund and put me back in. Instead, he said they would credit me I believe it was $35 or $45. He said when I am ready, to give them a call. 3 4 days later I called about 7 times and no answer. Five ours later, I called again and finally some lady answered . I told her my story and told her I spoke to someone and that day would credit me part of my money ($35/$45). She told me there were no notes about giving me money credit. I was speechless. So lets do some math... Instructor with bad attitude + only 1 person in the class + catching the instructor out side by the rails + small credit of $35/$45 + there was no notes about giving me credit = Not recommending this Motorcycle company.

Having a little flexibility on day one is typical. Folks have to find us, we’re doing paperwork the first minutes anyway. Day 2 starts on the range at 8 am, ready to ride. Not 8 minutes after 8. By the time you arrived, the other students had received instruction, observed the Instructor demo, and began riding the exercise. Out of respect for those who do arrive on time ready to go, it would hardly be fair to them to stop everyone, repeat the instructions , re-ride the demo and now we’re 30 minutes in before we start?

Fantastic experience: If you thought about taking your Basic Riders Course, this is the place to do so! Don’t let the negative reviews steer you away. Our instructor William is full of knowledge. I watched him take students that have never been on a bike in there entire lives and have them riding with confidence. As for me, I’ve been riding for years without any type of motorcycle Endorsement. Never realized I had bad habits. My instructor, William pointed out my bad habits and helped me correct them. Thank you William for everything you taught us from basic motorcycle skills to the safety oriented material to make us all better riders.

Fantastic experience: I had zero riding experience before taking this class and was pretty nervous. Nevertheless, I passed thanks to William’s patient instructions. BRING SUNSCREEN!

R N 6 years ago

Fantastic experience: I took my class with Mr. William. It was like being taught how to ride by a family member. Excellent for real beginners. Excellent for those like me who after 8 years of riding decided to refresh riding concepts that are really important if you want to ride safely and enjoy your bike for many years to come. The instructor is really dedicated to teach beginners. No pressure at all. He actually helps you relieve your stress at being a newbie by explaining how to do every exercise until you understand it and do it right. He teaches the real basics, followed by showing you how easy it could be with a little practice, to do slow speed maneuvers and all the other tests involved in MSF's manual. And there was more than enough was time for practice. The overall attitude was extremely friendly, non-judgmental, extremely-respectful. He is very well educated and mannered. I feel I got what I paid for and more. The motorcycles were top shape; with and oiled chain, new tires in the all bikes, brakes top shape, shifters easy to operate, clutch in perfect working conditions, etc. I happily recommend this MSF course on top of some others in San Antonio (2 of which I had a real bad experience with, just look for reviews before commiting your hard earned $$$). To all riders, I salute you. Rudy.

Negative experience: I don’t know how MTC can even classify themselves as a motorcycle training center or how they ever became certified to teach the basic motorcycle safety course. They advertise this course for beginners but if you haven’t been riding for years and have all maneuvers mastered, you will fail! You will also be made to feel like you are stupid for even wanting to try to learn. The instructor, Dell, is very judge mental and according to his manager, is not following the state guidelines. Dell forced our class to stay 5 1/2 hours (2 hours over) on the course doing obstacles and getting more and more frustrated with us because we were making mistakes and we were getting frustrated because we were all exhausted. His manager told us today that Dell should have only required us to go through 4 obstacles that day. However, Dell is still teaching at MTC and nothing is changing. Take my advice, don’t take your BRC with this company!!! You will waste your money and time!

Motorcycle Training Center
Motorcycle Training Center

Kitty, thanks for your review , but with respect to your claims that students need to have experience, that’s just false. Read the other reviews. We have dozens of new riders pass this class every weekend. What has changed since your class is the instructors focus on better time management. While Kitty’s first day went longer than planned, total riding time that day was 5 hours, exactly what the state guidelines recommend. Kitty fails to mention that she dropped her bike, was injured and took offense to being treated or having to document the incident at all. She did not return for day 2. Riding a motorcycle is all about personal responsibility for your own performance. We don’t expect perfection or mastery, but you need to become competent and consistent, with control. Safe, before we can allow you to move on. I’m consideration for Kitty and her family’s struggle on day one, We offered private lessons or a new class with a different instructor and instead she chose to write a negative review. Most negative reviews come from students who were not successful the first time in this course and decide to blame others, the coach, the bike, the company. Never themselves. Let me suggest that going out and buying two motorcycles before you’ve learned to ride, places undue pressure on yourself. Come ride first so you can make an informed decision prior to purchase.

Fantastic experience: I just took the Basic Rider Course (BRC) required by the state to get my endorsement. William and Del were my instructors. They were great! They really care for their student's developmental needs to be safe on the road. I was hesitant to take this course because of the negative Google reviews but it was the exact opposite come to find out. I made some errors but was given feedback to improve and keep me safe on the road. You should not take ANY motorcycle training course if you can't take criticism to keep you alive. The roadways do not offer second chances when you make mistakes, but this course does. Thank you MTC. I will recommend this class to others.

Negative experience: Just go to caliente harley davidson, they are not out for yall to fail. I myself came here back in april and the lady no pun intended. Very patronizing to students, i failed the test here which is my fault but she wanted to add insult to injury by having me rate her performance.

Ignore the Bots and read the other reviews. No idea who this person is, nor the lady referenced. Program sponsors want students to pass. Putting you through a second time, usually at a substantial discount, is a pretty poor business model.

Fantastic experience: Was in the same class as another reviewer today and have to agree wholeheartedly with what he said. Felt compelled to write this because some other reviews had me concerned about the course before I signed up but they are absolutely wrong and I would not hesitate to send anyone to take this course with William. William is not only a great instructor but he is humorous and really works to help you learn. I saw a review with a comment about being "called out" but he never does anything to embarrass/demean anyone it is 100% to make you (and everyone else in the class) a better rider...something I appreciate. I happened to be one of the least experienced in the class so my mistakes were pointed out more than once but his suggestions always helped make me better and that's what I paid for. You don't pay the course fee to be coddled you are spending that money to learn how to properly ride a motorcycle as well as many things that could very well save your life one day (and to get your motorcycle endorsement too of course). If he never points out mistakes then the students can't become better at riding. I still have a lot to learn but the foundation I got in this class is a solid one and after some riding time on a personal motorcycle I will most likely be back to take the intermediate course with William.

Charlie Dub 6 years ago

Fantastic experience: Just took my course and passed!!! My instructor was William he taught me everything about how to ride a motorcycle with no knowledge of riding one! Honestly the best motorcycle instructor ever and gives the best information with humor but his focuses are primarily safety and motorcycle knowledge & fundamentals also offers advice for any question! I highly recommend taking this course.

Fantastic experience: Took this class this week, excellent experience. Yes you need to show up on time its in the check boxes you agree to when you enroll in the class, try showing up to work late and see how that goes with your boss. Just like in life and riding a motorcycle you need to take responsibility for your actions. We had plenty of breaks after each riding exercise, make sure to take plenty of water/electrolytes and an ice chest to keep them cool..you will be out in the Texas sun the instructor has no control over the weather. William was an excellent rider coach/ facilitator. His main focus is your safety out there on the roads. He did a great job balancing the subject and keeping it light with some humor. I would recommend this course to anyone wanting a motorcycle endorsement. You get out of it what you put into it.

Yavor Slavov 7 years ago

Fantastic experience: I attended the class few weeks back. Del was our instructor and he did all it takes to help students improve their skills. His judgement was fair and he would spend extra time with students strugling on some of the excercises to make sure they get the technique. He asked a student to leave the course since the person was 30+ minutes late for the class on the second day. Del held the class for the first 15 minutes to give some time that student to show up but hey, it’s not fair for the rest 7 people to sit and wait. There are a number of excercises that have to be done and 30 + minutes delay makes it close to impossible. I had nex to 0 experience riding a motorcycle and I passed because of the help of the instructor. For the statistics out of 8, 1 never showed up, 1 was asked to leave because they were late, 1 failed on the riding test. The rest 5 got their licenses. This course is for you if you are motivated, willing to learn and take it serious. The insructors are respectful and very knowlegable.

Roberta Wells 7 years ago

Negative experience: Our motorcyle class was held in 105° heat yesterday with only one instructor and 8 riders. Class got one break in a 3 1/2 hour time frame while our instructor continued to walk over to where his car was having windshield replaced while we sat in the direct sun on bike waiting on him to handle personal business during class time. I fell over on my bike starting a turn. Our instructor was more concerned about bike than in my safety. Instead of trying to help me rebuild my confidence after my fall his response was "I was taking time away from the class". After that every little thing I did wrong I was call out on in front of the class. I was not the only student in this class that needed help. Which left 6 other students to have to just set in the sun one their bikes while only one instructor helped out student. Word of advice check to see how many instructors are out on the training course and how many breaks you get while taking your class in 105° weather. Both my husband and I had to quit the class due to over heating after being in the direct sun for over 3 1/3 hours. Very expansive way to look out for your own safety. PLEASE BE WARNED and Don't over heat .

Motorcycle Training Center
Motorcycle Training Center

Roberta, your instructor had a very different version that included you dropping your Motorcycle, yes, but looking after your Safety was absolutely paramount. You were helped to your feet before the instructor picked up your bike. The 8:1 student to coach ratio is that which the state of Texas has authorized and is within DPS guidelines. With respect “building your confidence “ while on another break, he reviewed your progress point by point to show you how well you were doing . He thought it strange you would ask if he was planning to dismiss you, he wasn’t. Perhaps you were wishing he would, perhaps there were other issues... Your open admission that you and your husband were taking the Two-wheel class to obtain your licenses in the most expeditious fashion as possible so to ride your newly purchased 3-wheel trike, puts the cart before the horse. Riding well in this course comes well before a completion certificate. After meeting with your instructor, we believe the trauma of your injury combined with the heat and your present motivation, you and your husband, at his recommendation, elected to leave the class with less than 3 hours invested. Indeed it was 105, just as predicted. Y’all took breaks every 30-40 minutes. We expect students to consider the weather and their motivation prior to taking the class, year round.

T Mid 7 years ago

Fantastic experience: When I originally started riding motorcycles back in 1999...I took the advanced course with my sport bike. It was mandatory for military. That...and I decided to take a few years off about 5 years ago and got back on in April. I took Will’s beginner 2-day course because 1. I hadn’t purchased a new motorcycle yet and 2. I wasn’t sure if I was going to, and was going to use this experience to help me make my decision. It was a little rough getting back on. While in general I remembered how to ride, I could NOT do any of the tighter maneuvers at the onset of the course. However over the two days...I not only accelerated my mechanical memory on riding, I improved on it...having actually gotten far more comfortable and confident with slow speed maneuvers. This translated to my new motorcycle...and I’m a better rider for it. Well worth the $200. And yes...William tells jokes. Depending on the audience some jokes are more or less professional. If that’s your criteria for picking a class...then your priorities are misaligned. He makes it clear that he is a facilitator and the it’s up to the rider to learn. He cannot force anyone to develop skill...but can only guide with advice and coaching. And that’s true. All learning whether academic or physical is self learnt.

David Offenbaker, Jr. 7 years ago

Fantastic experience: This course really was amazing. I've had some experience with riding over the past two years, but decided on the basic course. It was really great and the instruction was great especially since you're educated about the assessment, then the instructor physically performs an example of the task. I highly recommend this class! The instructor made this glass educational and fun. The biggest complaints I see are from people being late-- and honestly that isn't the instructor or company's fault and I don't feel they should be judged solely on that aspect. Don't hesitate to choose them-- you won't regret it!

Positive experience: I was late the first day and they wanted me to pay 175 more dollars. We ended up agreeing on 75 but still didn’t see that as fair considering I was there. Just a little late. The instructor William made up for the lost money though. He was a great/caring instructor and taught me a lot of good things. If it weren’t for him I wouldn’t have had the best experience.

James Trump 7 years ago

Negative experience: If you don't have at least 8 - 9 months on a bike, don't waste your money. They will kick you out of class on the 2nd day cause you're "holding up the class" and you will not get a refund. I put 2 stars cause the office is good on taking your money and telling you what you want to hear. The main office is somewhere by Dallas they give 2 turds.

Motorcycle Training Center
Motorcycle Training Center

Hi James, Actually, we'll kick you out of class the first day if you don't meet the objectives for the Range Exercises, Impede the progress of the class, or become a hazard to yourself or others. About 75% of new riders pass this class the first time without issue. We also have experienced riders that fail this class, not because they can't ride, more likely because the can't follow directions, like be here at 8am, not 8;15 or whenever you feel like it. Previous experience is certainly no guarantee that you'll pass, neither is not having any experience a guarantee that you'll fail. We could recommend that you start with a private lesson for $850, but most students prefer to try the group class first, save the money, give it their best effort and see how it works out.

Brett Lacy 8 years ago

Fantastic experience: Took the basic rider course over a Saturday/Sunday. I had never seen a motorcycle up close, nor had I ever driven a manual vehicle before. The instructor, William, was awesome. I went into the course with the goals of learning how to ride the safe way, while still wanting a little fun for the weekend as well. He did an absolutely great job of explaining things to someone like me, who was a bit timid and didn't have frankly any knowledge on the topic and even threw in some comedy as well. On the range, he really pushed a few topics (if you take/took the course, you know what I'm talking about) over and over so that it became engrained as a skill. He was also realistic and honest about the course. Skill comes with time and he said that the real test was out on the road, so he could only cover the bare basics in the time provided. I essentially went into the course expecting some safe knowledge and some fun and came out with a lot of fun and knowing what else to look into and practice before going on more risky roads than others.
