Manalapan Driving School

Negative experience: Absolute garbage. FIRST LESSON. 2 minutes in, my daughter hits the curb and pops a tire. You’d think THE INSTRUCTOR would prevent something like that. “THE INSTRUCTOR” then proceeds to spend the rest of the lesson looking at his phone. At the end of LESSON ONE, he says, “yeah, she’s gonna need more lessons. You might want to start scheduling because we fill up fast”. Now, if you have already written my daughter off on the first lesson and don’t feel you have the capability to teach her how to drive in the allotted course, then YOU are the problem. I let her do the the course I paid for, then let her drive my car. She was horrible. She almost hit 2 cars and I had to grab the steering wheel. So, I decided to switch to a different school. Howell Driving School. After their first lesson, she was a million times better and I was actually comfortable enough with her driving me to do my errands. Now, I bought a course that also included a 1 hour refresher before her exam. Do you think MAYBE they’d call to schedule that a few weeks ago? Before her test tomorrow? Nope. They called today, “She’s going to be picked up tomorrow at 10:15”. No tf she isn’t. Howell is taking her. I told whoever on the phone the school is straight garbage. Do NOT let your child near these people. It is a waste of your money. All they want is to milk you for more cash and get a payday. 1 star because my daughter at least learned to put on her seatbelt.

Negative experience: Atrocious customer service. My first instructor for my first two classes was lovely, my last instructor was absolutely horrible. Staff on the phone number are pushy and aggressive, and do not return calls. Do not use this service, they are inconsiderate and rude

Negative experience: I called this place and they were so rude over the phone when I asked questions, no way I would send my child here if they are so rude over the phone I can’t imagine in person.

Fantastic experience: This experience has been so great with Jamal and Eli. They are so patient with their students and excellent communicators. They take their time with you and make sure everything is right. I passed my test on the first try, it was so easy with the help of the best instuctors. If anyone is fitting for this job, it would be them. They are great!!!!! Highly recommended 11/10

Fantastic experience: Very patient and informative instructors. No issues with the vehicles that were provided. Administratively, the office was responsive when needed. The lessons were tailored well for the driving exam at DMV.

Negative experience: Jamal is the rudest individual to work with. He mistakenly looked at another child's file and gave her the wrong information. Also, the website says that they return the student back to school or home after the road test. He claims that policy has changed because of Covid but did not communicate that through his website or in any of the emails he sent us. He blamed our child for not telling us about his business's policy. I recommend that you do not use this place.

Fantastic experience: The instructors were very nice and knowledgeable. I had no experience at all before, but they taught and shared useful advices to me. And, I passed my road test at the first time. It’s a great experience!

Negative experience: Jamal was the worst; he constantly becoming irate for no apparent reason, making others feel uncomfortable, and acting like you should master driving in a single day for him. Eli was fine since he doesn't get angry or frustrated and gives you time. With him, I felt more at ease. Others make it appear as though you have been driving for a year, but you are simply stupid.

Fantastic experience: The Manalapan Driving School were very professional individuals and they had been involved in many activities including driving lessons and other things needed to improve the safety and well being of students.

Fantastic experience: Dealing with the Manalapan driving school was an extremely pleasant experience. It was a seamless experience from the time that my daughter walked in to take the written test, going out for her driving lessons and scheduling the road test. We will definitely go to Manalapan Driving school again when my younger son is ready.

Fantastic experience: New cars, very good instructor. I spent about 2 hours with Mr. Jamal and it was more than enough to practice on everything I needed to know to pass the driving test, especially the parallel parking he made it seems like a piece of cake.

Fantastic experience: The instructor assigned to me, Jamal, helped me learn my basics. He helped me polish my skills and how to fix what I was weak at like merging and parallel parking. Would highly recommend.

Negative experience: The most unprofessional place I’ve ever encountered. Jamal was a half hour late picking up my daughter for her road test this morning. I still don’t know exactly what happened because of course he will not take any accountability but, he scheduled her test for a different day. 2 weeks earlier. Then blamed me for his mistake. Ended up leaving my daughter in the pouring rain and almost ran my foot over when he drove away in the middle of me talking. He is rude, inconsiderate, has zero patience and should not be in the position of being alone with teenagers. He has an accent and it’s hard to understand him sometimes and he becomes frustrated if you ask him to repeat himself. My daughter was afraid to ask him anything because he was so aggressive. They never answer the phone or respond to emails. We called 4 times last week and left messages so we were prepared for today with no response. We had to repeatedly go to the office before he would call us back. I would never recommend this disaster of a place or the guy Jamal we had. So now we have to go to a DMV an hour away so we can get in this week

Negative experience: Overpriced, and i remember the guy alex made me park just so he can smoke, and was very rude to me, only because i wasn’t talking to him and wanted to focus on the road. Anyways think about how there’s so many negative recent reviews.

Negative experience: DO NOT GO HERE!! I have heard terrible things about the main instructor and the place overall. My sister just too her test last week, but paid and practiced with this guy who was very harsh and not patient at all with her. She ended up not coming back. She felt so nervous and anxious because of that guy. She went to another school. Also be aware they overcharge, especially Hispanics that go there. Watch out! Place overall is horrible!!!

Negative experience: if i could give zero stars i could. the instructor is rude, mean, and taunting. he’ll tell you to do something and then SLAM on the brakes and say you’re doing it incorrectly. he always starts a conversation but gets mad when you reply or don’t. for my six hours, i was harassed for not doing things probably when it was my first time driving!! he always sasses you and makes you feel belittled and like an awful driver. i would not recommend you come here at all. it took me a month to get my permit because they don’t even answer the phone!! please, save your time and go somewhere else.

Negative experience: Disappointed. You can use your new car with the electronic e brake. They will try to offer their car for the road test, deny. They tell you that you can only use a car with a handbrake…FALSE… Nowdays the dmv accepts cars that have the button parking brake(it has to be reachable by the road test examiner). (!!backup cameras allowed too!!)And another word of advice, if you want your 6 hours to be scheduled earlier and cheaper, go to red bank driving school. For the road test, the examiner warns you about the last stop sign, and that’s all you need to know.

Negative experience: 0 stars. The more elder guy is so disrespectful, intimidating and unprofessional. You guys definitely need to find someone who is patient and mature. He doesn’t introduce himself, the plans for the class, or even the CAR itself. He has 0 patience and respect and a horrible attitude, definitely find a better school.

Negative experience: De muy mal gusto la persona q da las clases un señor ya bien adulto es abusivo trata mal a las personas y más a mujeres es insultativo y goza haciéndolas sentir mal y llorar la verdad muy mal para ser instructor....no recomendable busquen otro lugar mejor...

Negative experience: Scheduled my drivers test appointment unreasonably really late. They also never emailed me to pick up my permit. I had to come in ask ask them myself because the guy on the phone does not care whatsoever and will not check if they have it or not. Other than that, it’s an ok driving school.

Negative experience: I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DRIVING SCHOOL!!! My daughter had Jamal as her instructor. He was very rude and intimidating as soon as she got into the car. He spoke loudly and sternly and made her feel very UNCOMFORTABLE, which is not a good combination when driving. He then proceeded to leave her in the car alone while he went into his office to meet with another potential customer for over 20 minutes. When she came home she was very shaken up and upset. I called to speak with him, which getting someone on the phone was a challenge in itself. When I finally got him on the phone he proceeded to raise his voice with me telling me that my daughters feelings as well as mine were wrong. At that point I realized that this business relationship could not continue. I did not feel safe allowing my daughter back into a car with anyone at this place of business. I asked for a partial refund since he did do the two hours with her and I felt that it was only fair for him to keep what he felt he was owed. I have sent numerous emails to resolve this issue amicably. I have been given numerous excuses to be pushed off including he needed to speak with management/owner regarding the refund. To date I have not heard back regarding said resolution. I do not do bad reviews but feel I have been given no other choice.

Negative experience: Terrible experience, my daughter still didn't get her permit since June 11, 2021 and I can not get anyone on phone. Plus instructor was rude, and shoved her. Worse school ever, I call multiple times a day and no luck getting anyone on phone.

Negative experience: This is the worst driving company going. I will never send another one of my kids to this school. They picked up my daughter drove her to her test then just dropped her off at another DMV site and the instructor took off. Contacted the DMV and they advised me it was the driving schools responsibility to stay with her to get her license or make an appointment with DMV.

Negative experience: My son had his driving test today. I had pre paid for a return trip. The exam was scheduled for 1 o’clock. My son was to have a hour practice prior.... he did not get the full hour. The OWNER rushed him to the test. He was done with test by 1230. Due to Covid my sons father was picking him from the test site and taking him to get his license. The owner was unhappy that my sons father was not there at 1230. Apparently he was in a rush for another student. That student was scheduled to be picked up at 1. How would my son of been driven home, like originally booked for? The owner was rude and I was even charged a extra $105 for a change in testing site due to Covid. I think I should of received money back for not using the round trip option. Disgusting. Do not use Manalapan driving school. And be careful, I think he owns freehold driving school too!

Fantastic experience: Jamal and Alex were my two instructors and they were absolutely phenomenal!! They taught me everything that I needed to know for the test and I’m glad to say that I passed! They were very helpful and I fully recommend coming here for your driving lessons.

Positive experience: I would not recommend this driving school. Our driver was a nice person but a heavy smoker. During two lessons he asked my daughter to pull over into a parking lot so he could get out and have cigarette break. I was highly encouraged to pay in advance for the school to take her to driving exam because Jamal said she would get an hour practice priorities to road test. Alex came 20 minutes late with another student in the car. The remaining 40 minutes she had to share the driving lesson with the other student. Just unprofessional.

Fantastic experience: I came from another driving school (for my 6 hours) that taught me absolutely nothing, so i had no idea what I was doing. I came to Manalapan Driving School with hopes to actually be able to learn to drive. Jamal taught me everything I needed to know right away and even helped me with the scary parts (parallel parking, K-turn, etc). He was kind and patient with me when it mattered the most. Negative experience: Very bad and annoying experience, wast your money in this school, I never asked to put me during this weekend, my road test in April 30 , so I still have time , oppositely I asked the instructor to put me during the week days and she didn’t and said that’s your policy, by the way she never explained to me the cancellation policy , she just asked me to sign the contract and I trusted her and signed it without reading. Please ask your instructor about the students we saw at Lodi, all of them took just one hour , you was the only school that insists to take three hours that was really to hard .

I’ve learned so much with Jamal and the hours that I took with Jamal was the best practice I can ever get because now I’m driving myself really perfect and never nervous because of the stuff that Jamal taught me. Jamal showed me everything including how to park a car I a parking lot and my merging got so much better. Thank you so much.

Negative experience: Terrible driving school. The Arab dude just smokes all day. On the way coming back from the testing center, he drove us back with his phone in his hand texting someone while unwittingly swerving the car into the opposite lane.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience with Manalapan Driving School. The cars and instructors are the best in this school. I was very lucky to have Jamal as an instructor, for the most of my lessons. He is an amazing teacher, very patient and professional, reliable and friendly! He gave me the confidence of driving that I needed and taught the tricks of parallel parking. No doubt I would recomend this school to a friend. Thanks to Manalapan Driving School and all its stuff I am a driver now!

Negative experience: I would go to Freehold instead. My instructor was rude and impatient; he also made me feel very nervous and stupid. Also, my appointment for the actual test was cancelled and Manalapan Driving school didn't even notify me.

Negative experience: Alex was terrible i used manalapan driving school for my road test he held my permit for two and a half weeks. When he picked me up to go for my test he would not answer any of my questions and just thought he knew everything. He even jerked my wheel shifted me into another lane cutting off a police car and blew the horn at it he also yelled at me for pulling over for a firetruck coming behind us! After my road test on my way to get my drivers license he yelled at me for texting my mother to meet us at the DMV while he was speeding and texting. He obiously does not know how to teach young drivers and does not lead by example.

Negative experience: I took part in the 6 hours and my instructor was rude and thought he knew everything there is to know, he would not answer my questions and expected me to know everything like this is a driving school you need to teach me. Not only are these services overprice but on the very first day they messed my schedule up by telling me to be ready at 1 PM Saturday by email, I had important after school activities that I had to attend and then I called and they messed up my time. They told me the class would start at 4 pm. The instructor didn't care that he wasted my time and I had the most annoying 6 hours of my life. He would rather complain than teach me the right way. If you are thinking of making your child go here DON'T save your time and money.

Negative experience: Terrible school told me study stuff not on test and crossed out sections in manual that were actually on the test. Not the nicest people to drive around with for 6 hours either.
