A-1 Driving School

Negative experience: Took forever to get drives needed. When I did get the drives the instructor Kelly was 20 minutes late. And I was left in the half dark building alone. No one else was in the building. Once she arrived she said said we can add on the twenty minutes to make up for her being late I agreed to do so. She gave me to my twenty minutes back but somehow managed to still bring me back to the office 10 minutes after our session should’ve ended. She made me feel dumb and seemed like she had no patience for me. You could tell she would get bothered when I couldn’t get things down the first or second try or when I didn’t understand something her body language would tell me she was bothered because she would let out big sighs, roll her eyes, or say passive aggressive things. The other instructor I got was cool but didn’t really teach me anything. I got him for my first and last drive and on the last drive he finally asked me if there was anything I wanted to work on. I told him yes, parallel parking. We went through the whole drive just mindlessly driving around and he never showed me what I actually wanted to learn. Honestly didn’t learn anything with the drives only with the online portion. Felt like a waste of money. The car I was in smelled bad to.

Positive experience: Don't over sale your available slots at the expense of kids. You can't honor your commitments. If a student doesn't get a spot in week A they default to first priority in week B. Something needs to change. Update: I've changed from 2 stars to 4stars. I've had multiple calls, initiated by A1. They went above what I anticipated to get the drives completed. There still needs to be an improvement in the weekly drive scheduling.

Negative experience: This is an absolute dumpster fire of a business. My son has been a student for more than six months and can’t complete his hours because they have no availability for lessons or testing. They’ve told us to check the schedule at a specific day and time every week when they are supposed to open up. Literally this entire summer, I’ve watched him sign in before that time every week, then keep refreshing the screen until the magical time the lessons are supposed to open up. In the last 3-4 months, he’s managed to snag one time slot. Completely unacceptable. We could have saved the hundreds of dollars we spent and just waited until he turns 18, which he will before he can get another lesson at this point. What a scam. If you don’t have enough instructors, then stop enrolling students. Don’t take people’s money if you can’t provide the service they paid for.

Negative experience: I thought maybe I just had a bad experience but I’ve heard from several people that also went to A-1 and cried because of the instructors so I def would not recommend.

Positive experience: Best experience I've ever had with a driving instructor. I had been trying to get my license for several years and had so much driving anxiety and these people were so good at diffusing my anxiety and helping my confidence. I now have my license and I enjoy driving!

Positive experience: Interesting experience for my daughter's observations and drives. She was taught the things she needed. However, I wish there were always at least 2 students in the car for each drive.

Negative experience: DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!! We signed up 6 weeks ago (over $300) and they never have availability for the road drives. They are super slow to answer the calls and all they say is to check the website. THEY ARE A FRAUD!!!!!!!

Fantastic experience: I was kind of nervous about the work being online but it was surprisingly easy to sign up they are happy to answer any questions you have when you call them. Ashley and Ian were great instructors, if you’re looking for drivers Ed this is the place to go!

And given my situation were I didn't do any driving in high school, or that I have borderline autism, he helped me feel comfortable, so I would recommend taking the course with him.

Fantastic experience: I had Jackie for my drives and he by far the best instructor I could have gotten not only did I get Jackie 1 time for driving I got him 2 and I’m glad I got Him because he is the type of instructor that is straight to the point and explains to you what to do while driving not only does he do that he very kind and helpful and never gets upset with you he just wants you to do your best and learn from your mistakes while driving.

Fantastic experience: I've been trying to get my driver license for a while now and i haven't driven at all. I was a bit anxious and a little scared about driving but Jackie help me out so much and on our first drive I started in a parking lot and after a little while i was on the road and driving. He help me not be so anxious and he tought me alot just in our first lesson. I am really excited to learn more from him and pass that test!

Fantastic experience: Jackie is AMAZING! On our first lesson, I told him I did not have any driving experience so we drove in a parking lot and then in a matter of 30 mins I was ready to drive on the road! 2 lessons later, I became even better! I never thought I would be able to drive this well in a very short time but Jackie made it possible. He is very patient, detail-oriented, and always has an answer to every question you have. I highly recommend taking this course with him. You won't regret it!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been working on getting my license for a couple of years. Looking for a place to help me complete the necessary stuff needed to get my license I found A-1. Jackie has been so helpful! He has been kind and patient with me. He takes into account that I am a visual learner and uses his recourses around him to help meet my needs. He gives me feed back right away and that helps me make corrections much quicker and makes me a much better driver. Thank you Jackie!

Fantastic experience: I got the opportunity to go on a drive as an observer for my daughter Makenna with Jackie the instructor at A-1. It was nice to see how Jackie interacted and taught Makenna. He was very patient, calm, and informative in his instructions. He has a fun personality and positive approach. I can tell he wants to make sure he gives all the necessary information needed for people to be successful in completing the driving coarse. It helps me feel more confident that my daughter will have the appropriate skills needed to take on the road by herself, and I won’t need to worry as much. ;)

Fantastic experience: Jackie is an excellent coach. Learning a new skill such as driving is not easy. He not only was patient in teaching me all the mechanics to driving but also boosted my confidence to be on the road. My first session was in a parking lot. Practiced for an hour and he let me drive on the road. Highly recommend him if you're learning to drive for the first time or if you have a child who's learning driving.

Fantastic experience: I was an observer for the A1 Driving school, my instructor Jackie was amazing! I had Jackie for an Observation and Drive. Jackie was great with going into detail about turns. He gave a step by step process that will help in the future with different driving techniques. Jackie gave excellent tips for the Road Test. He was great and very calm while driving! Jackie does an amazing job of making you understand why you do certain things while driving.

Fantastic experience: It takes me 1. 5 hour by train to come to Provo but it's worth it! Jackie is the best instructor ever. Before joining A-1 I was studying in another driving school where I feel I did not learn anything. The instructor there only yelled at me when I made mistakes. But Jackie patiently pointed out my mistake and explained details to me so I would never make one again. He has a cute blackboard that he bought himself to illustrate the key points, which makes driving concepts much easier to understand especially as a new driver.

He's tough but nice and makes sure you know everything to watch out for in the road test. He's awesome all around and I'd highly recommend him for all your driving needs.
