Fantastic experience: Erin is the best human being on this planet!!! She’s kind, humble, smart, sincere, honest…I would def recommend this company for the services they offer. I’m 47- had anxiety about learning how to re-drive. It all worked out in the end!!!!!!

Fantastic experience: We were thankful for America Driver Testing getting our son scheduled with short notice. Erin was professional and courteous even with outside temperatures in the single digits. I was pleasantly surprised with her instruction methods and she also instructed him on a few techniques and driving strategies that I had never heard before. As a licensed driver for almost 40 years, I would highly recommend American Driver Testing.

Fantastic experience: Erin was so professional and helpful. She’s very thorough and explains everything that my son needed to know for the exam. He studied the study guide that she suggested from the sos website and was prepared for her questions. I would definitely recommend American Driver Testing! Amazing service.

Negative experience: Erin was nice over the phone and when I first met her to take my test. As I began the parking portion her attitude change and made me more anxious (which is not why I failed but definitely didn’t help my situation)She did give me confusing instructions telling me that I could pull forward to adjust myself which I really could not and was one of the many reasons why I got marked down. She failed me and made sure I was aware of the fact that I could retake the test within 24 hours @ a reduced fee.

Negative experience: This instructor gave my son no chance to succeed. Very confusing instructions. I had such high hopes for this place because of the reviews and was highly disappointed. Would not recommend.

Fantastic experience: Did my son’s road test here today with Erin. She was wonderful with my very nervous son. She thoroughly explained all that was needed and what the expectations were. Was an all around good experience.

Negative experience: They’re scammers. Please do not go here and save your money. I had the instructor Wayne, and although he seemed calm, he does his outmost to create a flaw in order to fail you. I was dumb enough to go again after I went a first time and he failed me by saying i turned left as the light turned red, which wouldn’t make it my fault since I turned as the light was still yellow and usually a blinking yellow arrow turns into a green, but either way I would have the right of way. The second time, I did amazing but as I reached a roundabout and I was yielding I moved up a bit to see more and he was not making it clear which way to even turn, and then he yelled out “stop” even though I wasn’t going to go, and as we got back he said he cannot pass me due to that. These people just want money out of you, I 101010200202% do not recommend, please save your time and money. $140 gone to waste. They suck and should get their testing license taken away.

Fantastic experience: The experience was perfect. Erin was extremely professional, friendly and helpful. My son & I couldn't recommend them higher. We had previously contacted another company that seemed bother to discuss their process in general and offered no flexibility to fit our schedules, this was no issues for Erin. Thanks again!

Fantastic experience: I called to set up appointments for my twins. Spoke with Erin who thoroughly explained the process, and what documents my kids needed to bring on test day. They have 2 testers which is great when you have multiple kids needing to be tested. Erin was very pleasant on the phone. Test day we showed up. Erin helped one of my twins, and Wayne helped the other. I thought Erin, and Wayne did an excellent job explaining what was expected during the parking and driving part of the test. My wife rode along with our son, and I with our daughter. Both passed, and felt the testers were very clear in what was expected, and how comfortable they felt with both Wayne, and Erin. Excellent experience. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Amazing experience! I went to take my road test and tested with Erin she was very helpful during the parking portion and very encouraging. On the road she gave clear and easy directions and made everything very comfortable. After the road portion she gave me some very beneficial feedback and I passed! Negative experience: erin is probably the rudest and most distasteful person ive met, but she still passed my brother despite some of his mistakes that other places wouldve failed him for. but really, ive never met such an awful person.

Negative experience: This was my first experience with one of my kids having to take the road test to obtain their drivers license. My son failed the first portion and we had to schedule a 2nd time, which I wasn't particularly upset about since the parking portion wasn't something we practiced to the extreme. However once he passed and went onto the road test, I was extremely upset with how the remainder of the test was handled. This is supposed to be a road test, it is not an extention of drivers education during the test. Criticism undermines young drivers confidence and should be held until the end unless there is something that can cause an accident. When it borders on harassment and causes the driver to 2nd guess their own instincts there us definitely an issue. I would not recommend you sign your child up for a road test with Erin. Skip this business altogether.

Fantastic experience: I called and spoke with Erin to make the appointment. She was so very helpful and gave all the information I needed and answered all my questions. Our instructor was Wayne. His calm demeanor made my teen feel at ease. Highly recommend this company!

Fantastic experience: American Driver Testing made my experience on obtaining my motorcycle endorsement very easy. They worked around my schedule and offered a test on Sunday. Although it was sprinkling we still were able to complete the test safely. After 30 years of riding i made the choice to finally be legal, and American helped me complete the process. I highly recommend their service to anyone needing a test.

Negative experience: Horrible drivers test experience. They failed my daughter because she went over the speed limit ONCE. According to the state if mi, you must have SUSTAINED a speed limit 10 miles a hour over the speed limit. Apparently they don't understand what SUSTAINED means. I've attached a copy of the definition of sustained and the state of Michigan's rules for failing a driver, for the owner of this company to review.

Fantastic experience: Erin, Was the awesome and made me feel comfortable as she gave the road test. I felt she was very thorough and exact in directions. I highly recommend going here for any road test you would need and will be recommending them to anyone I know that will need to get a cycle test or road test. Fantastic experience: Had a great experience with American Driver testing. My daughter tested with them last week and Wayne was our tester. From the very beginning, Wayne was very calm and explained everything that they were going to do step by step and what was expected. During the road test portion, Wayne asked my daughter some questions, talked about scenarios and even cracked a few jokes which I know helped put my very nervous daughter at ease. As a parent, I felt it was a good, thorough process and would absolutely recommend American Driver testing.

Negative experience: Short version: DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY HERE Long version: She ranks among the most unpleasant individuals I have encountered in recent years. When we approached her for my wife's driver's license, she displayed consistent rudeness and lack of consideration from the very beginning. Initially, we suspected her behavior might even be racially motivated, but after reading other reviews, it became clear that she is simply a generally horrible person. It seemed her sole objective was to ensure my wife's failure. Going into any kind of test, one is already nervous, and the least an examiner can do to ease the examinee's anxiety is to remain neutral. However, she went above and beyond to ensure my wife's failure by psychologically manipulating her and subjecting her to distressing and uncomfortable situations. Allow me to outline some of these instances: - On multiple occasions, she intentionally created doubts, such as questioning my wife's perfectly executed parallel parking, asking if she was sure or if she wanted to make any changes. It was evident what she was attempting to do here. - While my wife was driving, she continuously yelled about every little detail, including the speed, emphasizing that it was FOUR FIVE, 45 and not 44 or 46. - She even went as far as creating hypothetical driving scenarios and quizzing my wife on rules during the road test. I have taken driving tests in multiple countries, including the US, and nowhere have I encountered an examiner quizzing on rules during the on-road test. It was clear that she was trying to distract and traumatize my wife, ultimately leading to her making a mistake. The smirk on her face inadvertently gave away her true intentions all along. - To top it all off, she even offered us a discount if we were to choose her for future tests. It was nothing more than a hollow gesture. Oh, and did I mention that a few days later, my wife passed her road test with ease at a different location, without much additional practice? I would have liked to provide details about the other place we went to, but I don't want it to seem like I am advertising them. However, I encourage you to explore other options. There are reputable driving schools nearby. By the way, I want to emphasize that I am writing this review not in the immediate aftermath of failing the exam, when emotions would be running high, but rather after several months have passed. I have been meaning to write this since our encounter with her, but providing every detail would have required patience and time.

Negative experience: Just called wanting to schedule a road test erin on the phone sounded rude and snappy like i was bothering her if they are rude on the phone imagine how bad it would have been on the test.

Negative experience: I wouldn't waste your time or $70 with this company, was professional but did not clearly state expectations of for example driving up to a line.....would have been nice to know on 2 of the three parking tests that he wanted the front or rear of vehicle to be within a foot of yellow line......did not disclose must be between yellow and dotted white line. Also did a nice parallel park but did have to pull forward to readjust......what 16 yr old (or adult for that matter) pulls in on one swoop. Dude pulled out a tape measure to make a parking spot smaller with respect to car size.....hilarious....why? Because smaller cars shouldn't have more room? Small cars are allowed to park in regular sized spots as far as I know. Bottom line if your kid can drive and park as good as most drivers.....go somewhere else

Fantastic experience: Took my motorcycle road test here . It was a great experience, Erin's was my instructor and was professional and friendly. They offer tests on Sundays which was a huge plus for me due to my busy schedule. Test was easy to set up and got in just a few days after I requested an appointment. Test is in a small barking lot at 50840 Shelby Rd . So if you're nervous go there and get some practice in all the lines are painted in the ground . And the test are in the Michigan motorcycle handbook. Which is obtained at SOS or online .

Fantastic experience: I’ve had two of my children go thru them. Both testers were amazing. We started with another school both times and switched. The previous school were rude and anxiety ridden. Both testers at American were calm and patient.

Negative experience: SAVE YOUR MONEY go somewhere else. I was already nervous and told Erin that but she didn't make me feel any better with her constant yelling like I was her child and expecting me to just sit there and not say anything back she is rude and unprofessional

She's serious about the testing and she'll let you know important things you need to work on and pay attention to. She was very comfortable to drive with and talk to. I was super nervous and kept making little mistakes but I still passed! Some of these reviews are so silly they aren't a scam and don't want you to fail! Just make sure your car meets the vehicle inspection requirements! Thank you Erin!!

Negative experience: While scheduling I thought the place was extremely friendly however during the testing my daughter didn’t get one smile or friendly remark. She knew right from the start the tester, Wayne, would be very strict. It felt like she was set up to fail. I understand they have guidelines to follow, but friendliness, maybe a few smiles is part of their responsibility too and it goes a long way for a new driver. I would not recommend this place.

Negative experience: Stay away. This guy is horrible. From the phone call to the test. All he wants is another $70 to test the next day! FIND ANOTHER PLACE TO GO.

Fantastic experience: First off, if you arrive with a vehicle that has an inoperable light, don't whine about you loosing your $70. The study guide from the state of Michigan as well as the website of American Driver Testing states that your lights must be working. The $70 is for the hour you just wasted of the testing persons time. Drive around without a non working light and you will get a defective vehicle ticket. As for the instructor lady that gave my son his test, she was by the book and that is what I want from someone testing my child. I want to make sure he is ready for the road. I will recommend to anyone that needs testing.

Negative experience: Took our money without even checking the car. That’s a true rip off. Not fair. Son just brought his car didn’t know that too brake light was even a brake light. Wouldn’t let us go home and get another car. I would never go back or recommend anyone going. She’s a whole rip off

Negative experience: Horrible instructor. Don’t waste your money. This place just takes your money. Fails you for any little thing. The instructor kept yelling at my child to speed up when she was taking her road test and failed her. Very inpatient and unprofessional.

Fantastic experience: 10/10 I highly recommend this location I've taken the road test few times prior at different locations and the instructors always made me feel really uncomfortable. But Erin was absolutely fantastic! She explained everything I needed to do in the parking portion and when we went on the road she gave me clear instructions, after the test she told me what I could improve on that was helpful and overall just a wonderful experience

Erin is very thorough, gives precise instructions and directions, and goes out of her way to make you comfortable and less nervous with the testing experience. Fantastic experience: It was very professional. I passed my test but I was nervous at the beginning. She was doing small talk to comfort me and pointed out things I need to work on as we went along. Negative experience: First off, the instructor had alcohol on her breath or maybe its just in her pores,but I smelled it! then she did not explain to me clearly what she wanted me to do with parking, and gives me 11 points for my wheel not being straight and me touching the cone barely! Negative experience: My child passed but he would've anyways. The instructor was just down right rude, not like bad day but miserable person rude. I think she forgot how important this is to people & acting like a witch doesn't help. If she really knew her job she would've been smart enough to know my son had already been driving for a while. Ironically I just was asking others what ever happened to people having pride and professionalism, hell even happy they have a job. Professionalism so questionable my son was afraid that even tho he passed, she would retract it. Not everyone needs to be politically correct but when your getting paid you should be professional.

Fantastic experience: I definitely needed my driver license so that I could drive by myself to my school and Erin is, without any doubt, a great person to take your test with. Appointments are easier to make and everything is explained to you in detail before your test. She makes process easier and so smooth which is done in steps: vehicle inspection test, parking (regular, reverse, parallel), and road test. Knowing how to drive on highway, roundabout and making sure of your surrounding while driving is all you need to pass the test! The place is so professional and I'd highly recommend everyone to go and take your road test with Erin. I was nervous to take my test but she will calm you down and gives you indicators on your mistakes along the way so you can avoid making same mistakes again. You can ask questions as many times as you want even during the test and just need to calm down. I would bring my sister here as well for her test in just 2 months! Thank you Erin for such a great service that you provide for your customers.

Negative experience: I would like to say I went somewhere else a few days later and I passed. She said I wouldn’t be able to when she first had me. They want to get extra money from you if you didn’t take their classes. Do not go here. It’s not worth it. She was extremely rude to my dad and I and treated me horribly. I was so excited about this test and I knew I would pas but she completely downsized me and told me horrible I was. I was appalled. Go somewhere else do not go here! She will fail you just to get More money out of you. Go somewhere else please

Fantastic experience: I used their service for my motorcycle test and I just say it was a very well-run test. The instructor was great, and very thorough. They are willing to let you take your time and there is no rush for the test to be done. I got there a little early and did some practice runs, then when the instructor got there, I was done in under 10 minutes. Very professional and thorough testing site.

Fantastic experience: Wow! The people on the phone are so helpful, they answer all your questions and call you back if needed. Wayne was an excellent instructor; his directions were so clear and he is so calm and helpful. I honestly would recommend this place to anyone who asks, they’re fantastic.

Negative experience: They charge $60 and then fail you in 5 minutes in Parking, not even taking one for a road test. Clear abuse of intent of testing a person on entirety. Avoid this place. Will be reporting to SOS.

Fantastic experience: Erin was amazing from start to finish. I called her on a Thursday afternoon, got the appointment on a Saturday morning, and the whole process was professional. She made it very clear what was expected of me and I felt very comfortable throughout the ride. I was a bit nervous but she gave me some great feedback and overall was a great experience! Definitely recommend getting your road test done here.

Fantastic experience: The instructor was great. I arrived about an hour early and the course was open so I was able to do a few practice runs with the 90 degree turn, cone weave (without the cones), and the u-turn in the box. I did fine on those segments and got a point for a smidge too long on the distance. Huge relief. Thanks Erin!

Negative experience: Wayne was professional the whole time. The reason I am giving a 1 star is because I don’t agree with his reason of failing my son. He asked my son to merge into the fast lane on the expressway into traffic that was going much faster and then failed him when he sped up? I don’t understand why you would ask a kid to merge into a lane that’s going 80-85 if you know that that’s going to fail him if he speeds up. It’s almost like he gave my son an ultimatum of passing the test or putting us at risk. I think this was a bad decision on his part. I don’t think this reflects their business at all. I’m not saying that. Like I said before he was otherwise professional. I think he just made a bad call.

Fantastic experience: If you failed, it’s because you have no business on the road. Erin was kind and professional, even though she told me I was driving like an old lady. Lol. Just being too cautious in a car i wasn’t used to driving. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: It was first time road test driving in Michigan for me and my wife. The lady was very nice,so helpful with a good sense of communication. Fantastic experience: They were able to schedule it quickly (winter) I had Erin she was very nice and understanding. The only quiz like questions she asked were about railroads and head on collisions. I passed and at the end she explained main this to work on improving.

Negative experience: This is the worst place ever. She was very rude she kept saying that I wasn't driving the way I was supposed to. I would give this place 0 stars if I could. If you want to go take a road test you should take it somewhere else. She was very disrespectful. I do not recommend this place.

Negative experience: Pretty bad, pulled up to the line, got a point, backed in completely straight, all the way to the line, got a point, and who passed parallel? They failed me anyways. $50 down the drain, definitely don’t recommend this place.

Fantastic experience: I was concerned about where to take my son for his driver's road test because other companies had such bad reviews and another company only tested on Saturdays (not good for our schedule). Therefore, I looked at the reviews for American Driver Testing and they were very good. I called to set up an appointment and Wayne was super helpful on the phone. When you call some of the other testing companies, they are very short on the phone, but Wayne took the time to answer my questions and proactively give me additional information about what my son would be tested on, specific directions about what to bring to the testing site, where it is located, etc. Then when we tested with Erin, she was very patient, very reasonable about grading, pleasant to talk to, and pointed out things my son should continue to work on when the test was over. We were very satisfied with our road test and would highly recommend American Driver Testing to others who need to do theirs.

Fantastic experience: The youngest of my 3 children took her test on Saturday, a day it was pouring down rain with some thunder. I was very impressed with the guy administering the test. He was very calm & soothing & stood out there in the relentless rain while she parked & did the backing. At the end of the test, he spoke to her generally about improving her performance but she had done well enough to pass. He really had her attention. If I had known in the past what I saw then, I would have had my older children go through this. Very well done. I don't know why my name isn't showing up -- it's Carol Jackson.

Fantastic experience: UPDATE: Just took my son a few weeks ago for his test. Another win for my son. Despite being nervous, Erin made him feel comfortable and did a great job explaining some things he didn't understand. Thanks Erin & Wayne & American Driver Testing school for getting both our kids safely on these crazy roads! Erin was very kind and courteous. She was also prompt, and ready to go right at the scheduled time. We appreciated that she was relaxed yet professional and she gave some great practical advise on our daughters driving skills. I've read through other reviews on here, and I do not feel that these one star reviews accurately reflect what we have found at American Driver Testing. The testing instructors here want to make sure that the drivers they pass are indeed ready to drive our crazy metro Detroit roads.

Negative experience: Will ask you for a card up front and threaten you with charges like crazy. Very unprofessional and rude on the phone. Treats you like they're paying you to test.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience with Wayne. He was very patient and kind. Wayne is an amazing instructor he read over everything I needed to know and made sure I understood and if I didn’t I was able to ask questions. Drive with Wayne!
