Ace Driving School

Negative experience: I had my first driving lesson from them and Charles wasn't really helpful at all. He would only give me directions but never instructed me on how to actually drive. I'm not sure why he made us practice in a neighborhood with many parked cars on the side of the street?? The communication is horrible and unprofessional because I texted Donnie and the owner to schedule another lesson and they never responded. I emailed the ace drive school email and got ignored. So a few months later I still never heard back so I called and a guy answered and told me he wasn't sure about availability and told me to call next time. I highly recommend going to a different driving school that actually protizes their students. Why would they give me their phone numbers to text them if they're just ignoring people?? Why is it every time I call nobody can book me for a lesson It's always called back later?? I see some reviews having this common problem. They are so unorganized because there's nowhere to even book a lesson and no place to pay online. Please address this problem so you won't lose customers due to lack of communication.

Positive experience: Overall had a good experience with them. My instructor was Mr. Charles and he was very patient, helpful and funny. Had a great time with him. I would recommend him if you are a little anxious about getting on the road because, like I said, he’s very patient.

Fantastic experience: I recommend Ace driving school for the new drivers. I never drove a car and learned after coming to USA, I was super nervous and not confident at all, thanks to Charles who helped me to overcome the fear of driving and taught me so well that I cleared my road test on first attempt. I took 12 hrs behind the wheel class and took the same car for the road test. Two years ago I took 6 hrs behind the wheel class from a different driving school and went for the road test with my car not the same car I was practicing and I failed my road test terribly, it made me so nervous that I stopped learning and driving. I’m writing this so that new drivers like me shouldn’t repeat the mistakes I did.After long time I started learning again and this time I found the best instructor Charles and got my drivers license. Positive experience: I had a good experience with Ace Driving School. Donnie and Charles are good instructors. They taught me what I needed to know to pass the road test. The prices are also reasonable. I am giving a rating of 4 out of 5 stars because one of the instructors missed a few of our practice sessions that were scheduled in advance. That instructor, however, was able to reschedule with me to make up for those missed sessions. Thank you Donnie and Charles for helping me become a licensed driver.

Fantastic experience: My name is Ashlyn and I had a pretty good experience with this driving school as my driving instructor Chrissie helped me gain my confidence. Fantastic experience: We just survived second child finishing behind the wheel. For both, we went the cheaper route through CMS for classroom then paid for private BTW. Worth it! Parents need to remember it is only the first 6 hours of instruction, required to get a permit. We wanted instructors that have been doing this a while and could keep our kids safe. We wanted one on one instruction. They did all that and also gave feedback on things to work on. Very happy we chose Ace for both kids.

Negative experience: I would not recommend reaching out to this place. Just like Latesha and others with 1 star review which I wish I’ve seen prior, I unfortunately looked at all the high reviews. For over 2 months I’ve been trying to schedule with Donnie, scheduled a about a couple times and he stood me up on both occasions. I still tried to see the good in it and gave another try. He said he’d call me and he did not. It’s just sad and I don’t want others to have the same experience but you feel free to try. I would not recommend trying more than once if you don’t get confirmed schedule and actually taken to a lesson.

Negative experience: Would NOT recommend. If I could give them zero stars I would. Just like the previous review I wasted over a month of my time trying to get my daughter scheduled with this company. After weeks and a few emails and phone calls someone named Donnie finally called me and said we could get my daughter scheduled that week. Well guess what I never heard from Donnie again after multiple attempts on my end trying to contact him. The company also stopped answering my emails. Very unprofessional to say the least!!

Negative experience: Would not recommend. Unfortunately wasted 3 weeks of my time trying to get scheduled with this company. Went to another company (TLC Driving School) and within one day we are all set and on schedule. We will see how it goes but so far night and day in professionalism, responsiveness and thoroughness compared to my experience over the last 3 weeks with Ace. Very disappointed. UPDATE: Interesting response from owner received today (7/8) to my review. FIRST TIME being told the reason for the “bad communication” was due to an accident with one of their cars. Interesting given the timeline over 3 WEEKS!! I wonder when this accident happened that caused all of this miscommunication and then only to be advised of this “reason” AFTER my review … makes one go “mmmm”. I had to constantly be the one reaching out for status and they NEVER did as promised. Not to mention the story (excuses) were always different. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Fantastic experience: Ace driving school is excellent. Charles taught me driving and got license on June 5. Very much friendly, can schedule classes without any confusions. Give tips and prepare you for driving test in an excellent way.

Positive experience: My son took the online course and driving lessons package last summer. He was 15 at the time and never sat behind the wheel of a car before. The day of his first lesson, my son was beyond nervous, he was shaking. The woman instructor sitting beside him was anything but friendly or understanding of how he was feeling. He said she was annoyed and cranky. They should know better to be a little more kind to kids who don’t have a clue as to what they’re doing behind the wheel, and make first-time drivers comfortable, especially kids. They may look like adults, but they’re still children.

Negative experience: Their driver honked at me to turn right on no turn on red. Then promptly fish tailed a u-turn. Then merged lanes thrice without a turn signal in the span of less than half a mile. Would rather have my kid bike to school than take lessons from whoever was behind this wheel. 0/10

Fantastic experience: I love this driving school! The owner communicates well and responds on time! Never had an problems! He’s calm and patient and really does TEACH you how to drive. He also has AMAZING prices as well better than any of the other driving schools in the area. I definitely recommend Ace Driving School!

Negative experience: I think most of the instructors are good at this school but the one my daughter got was comically bad. My first clue was at the start of my daughter's first session when the instructor asked me if my 14-year-old daughter had ever driven before. She seemed openly annoyed when I told her she had not. She was impatient and unprofessional. She ate peanut butter crackers and LOOKED AT HER PHONE for extended periods of time while my daughter was driving. At one point she told my daughter to turn left when she actually meant right. For the most part, it was kind of funny but I am actually concerned that she never took my daughter out driving on the highway, so my daughter was not taught how to safely merge, etc. We plan to buy a few more hours at a different driving school so my daughter can get the instruction she needs.

Fantastic experience: Just passed my driving test thanks to Ace Driving School. Really impressed with the Ace Driving School’s systems and lessons plan. I was lucky enough to have Mr. Donnie and Mr. Charles as my instructor, they were so pleasant, patient and knowledgeable about all things driving/cars/tips & tricks to park, etc. Loved our chats on our drives and feel much more confident and competent as a driver thanks to their guidance. Ace Driving School provides very affordable fees/price. Would definitely recommend learning with Ace Driving School.

Fantastic experience: Saved daughters life!! Brakes and steering failed at 60 mph last Sunday evening on HWY485 near exit. Yanking steering column snd repeated breaking engaged emergency control help. Learned this technique at ACE driving in classroom discussion. All thanks to Mr Donnie, Miss Dee. Please don’t even think twice. These folks are real deal and family will forever be thankful!!

Fantastic experience: I was new to driving and i took 6hrs of beyond wheels from ace driving school and i passed my road test easily. My instructor Donnie trained me very well and he taught me all road rules and how to use controls efficiently by following road rules.He teaches all the manures which will be tested on DMV road test and make you perfect in that areas. Thank you Donnie!! Price is very reasonable when it is compared with other driving schools. I highly recommend this driving school for new learners. I took road test with Monroe DMV.

Negative experience: The owner of this school is very unprofessional. I’ve been trying to book my first session with him for over two weeks and a half. Every time I call he is very unorganized and he doesn’t respond to calls or text messages in a timely matter. You will have to keep calling him and don’t know his driving schedules. He keeps telling me to give them a call back tomorrow or in a few days to see if he can get me in and then I call and he tellS me to call back again in a few days to book because he doesn’t have his schedule on him.It seems as if his customers work around his schedule and not a steady business schedule. How you don’t know your driving schedule? He never knew It! I had called him at least four times and a few times he canceled. This is a customer service role and it’s really sad that he couldn’t provide great customer service. If you’re booked out just say that and we can move on to the next school. But word of knowledge to every driving school know your schedules know when you’re open keep a schedule on you? It has ruined my experience. Luckily I found a great school who’s been consistent and professional and have great communication.

Fantastic experience: Excellent driving school. I took few driving sessions with them. Today i got my license. Very happy with the team. The instructor is very friendly and he taught me driving on busy roads and it helped me build my confidence. The car i drove is very comfortable. Fantastic experience: My daughter did this course July 2021. The class portion she was able to do at home on Zoom, which went great. She was signed up to drive a week after she finished the class portion. I highly recommend this driving school. The ladies she drove with were great. She was very comfortable with them. I was comfortable because she was able to drive with ladies.

Fantastic experience: Back when Covid had the school programs shut down I turned to Ace for my kiddo to get his hours & classtime completed. I was extremely impressed with the communication, organized structure, flexibility & overall professionalism of this business. It was also a fair price (I researched many driving schools in the area) & they really took care of everything required to complete the permit process. Very impressive organization!

Positive experience: The first time around I went with Giselle. She doesn’t know how to deal with timid drivers (which there will be a lot of considering it’s the first time for a lot of us on the highway and 74 is confusing and a little bit scary.) but second time around I went with the owner, David I think was his name, and he was much better with me since I was a little nervous to drive on the road. I recommend if you’re going with him but if you’re uncomfortable the first time around definitely ask for someone else!

Fantastic experience: ACE Driving school is the best! My wife and I decided to enroll our son into this driving school instead of trying to manage the logistics through CMS. We are so glad that we went the independent route. The owner (Donnie) is fabulous. His instructor led sessions over the weekends made this a perfect fit as it only required several weekends for my son to complete the class component. Also, the driving sessions went extremely well with Stacy. My son commented how patient she was as an instructor and he learned all of the fundamentals of driving in several sessions. We have been so impressed with how they took someone that barely knew anything about driving to being able to drive on the highways and all through Mecklenburg and Union County. We will definitely use this business again with our daughter once she reaches driving age!

Fantastic experience: I never had to drive in India, so I had no experience with 4 wheeler driving. I moved to US in 2014 and been relocated to different places in US due to work. I had been avoiding to get a driver's license since then. But recently I had to get settled down in Charlotte and learning driving became a must. Donnie and his team (Specially Mr. Charles) had been a huge help in getting me to drive in about 6 classes! And guess what, they don't cost you an arm and a leg! I highly recommend their service for new and experiences drivers as well.

Fantastic experience: I am 23 and had yet to have any driving practice. I had a fear of driving since I was young from being in multiple accidents. However, within 4 to 5 one hour sessions with Donnie, I "ACE-ed" () my driving test on my first try with no hiccups and my fear of driving has vanished almost entirely. Ace driving school is quick, efficient, and cost friendly. I highly recommend this to anyone, no matter how much or how little experience they may have. Very pleased. 5 stars.

I was involved in an accident that made me kind of hesitant to drive again and felt I needed to perfect my skills some more, decided to call ACE, I took only 2 classes with them and passed my driving test on the first try! Donnie is truly a great teacher, extremely friendly and offers the best prices too. He was always on time, answered any questions and makes you feel like he genuiely cares and wants to help you do great while giving you a good laugh in the process. Positive experience: This is a good driving school where the instructors are motivational which is important for new drivers. I took 3-4 classes with Charles and one with Donnie. I got my license at the first attempt. However, I had to give them 4 stars because I was asked to take an extra driving session though I was confident in my driving and the other instructor felt so too. Another reason is they canceled or rescheduled couple of agreed classes and I wasn’t happy about it. But to me, the pros were definitely better than the 2 cons.. they were positive, motivational, not expensive, have good number of cars with all seat adjustments required for a short person like me and Donnie gave me some very useful tips about driving. I would always recommend this school to my friends and any new driver!

Negative experience: Donnie’s instructor took my 16 year old to another adult’s house to shoot guns during his driving lesson. Next time out, this instructor took my child to several pawn shops. Entirely unprofessiona

Fantastic experience: Don't waste your time going with any other driving school... A.C.E is the best driving school!! Donnie gave me 4-lessons and decided I was ready for the road test. I'm a new driver and at age 41. I was terrified but Donnie did a fantastic job with my self confidence. I went to Monroe DMV and sadly failed the test because the examiner was a moron! She was aggressive and looked for every reason to fail me. I went to Huntersville DMV a week later and passed with ACE! Everything Donnie taught me was exactly what came in the road test. Another student went with me and passed as well!! This driving school is the cheapest price and the best teacher!!! Thank you Donny!!!

Positive experience: Had a very good experience with Ace driving school. Charles is an awesome instructor. Teaches precisely. Corrects us with a positive attitude which helps keep us motivated. Took 3 Classes with Charles and last day Donnie took for the test. Took one round near Huntersville DMV before the test on the same road where test is conducted. Donnie provided some tips which were useful. Would highly recommend this driving school.

Fantastic experience: Great and nice experience. I have never driven a car in US. But, great driving practice lessons given by Dee and excellent instructions and practice provided by Donnie helped a lot. Important point to note here is ... I got my Driving License at First attempt. That is what matters the MOST.... Moreover the prices are economic and affordable...

Fantastic experience: My 18 Year Old Daughter needed some extra help. So I got a 2 hour driving session and we go DJ. She was exceptional with my daughter. That 2 hour driving blitz with the driving instructor is all we needed to give our daughter some added confidence and learn some much needed safety tips. Sometimes your kids learn better from another adult. They are outstanding! Donny was awesome in scheduling everything and making sure we got what we needed.
