Petaccio's Driving School - now a part of Coastline Academy

Negative experience: The online scheduling portal doesn't work properly, and I spent a lot of time of hold to speak to someone on an 800 line to get help. This is after I paid over $600. You are not able to test where you take lessons and must drive 40 minutes away. I would not have paid for this service if I was aware that testing would not take place in a familiar setting, and it require me to lose work time. The instructor fell asleep multiple times while teaching my child, as well as parked the car and went to use the bathroom and have a smoke. Driving lessons are costly, and it seems to me that employees could take their smoke breaks before or after the lesson. I do not recommend.

Negative experience: Someone from your office called me on the day of my sons last lesson. They said things changed for the test part of the package and that he now has to go to Blue Bell to test. Then they said I didnt have the test as part of the package I selected but that they would speak to the office manager and work something out and to call back after his final lesson to set up for the test. I paid for 5 two hour lessons, spent over $1,000.00 dollars and then I'm told the package I selected doesn't include the drivers test. So after the last lesson I call and I call again, and again, again and again. No one is answering, but Im also leaving a message everytime I call and never get a call back. Finally a few days later I get through to someone who doesn't seem interested in the fact that I selected something that wasn't to my satisfaction and that someone from their office called me and said they would work something out with me since I spent over 1000 dollars. But I decided while on the phone with this individual that even though I was told different by someone at their office, that I would accept responsibility because after all I picked the package. I just wanted to get my son set up for the test and move on. This is when she offered me the drivers exam portion for another 50 dollars. Ok fine I said what is included with the 50 dollars and she said only the test the 50 is for him to be allowed to take the test at the other facility. Now let's get this straight I spent over 1000 dollars and now you want to charge an extra 50 dollars for what exactly? Your not going to pick my son up to take him to go take the test. He's not allowed to use the vehicle that he's been practicing in this whole time for the test, which is what he was told by his instructor on day 1 and the testing is no longer at your facility, why I wonder. So what exactly is the 50 dollars for if he has to take the test in a different facility in a different vehicle. What exactly am I getting for 50 dollars? I feel like it's a slap in the face after spending all that money and that they could care less. No one ever reached out and said are you aware you didn't pay for testing until the last lesson day, how convenient. I know 100% that I didn't get my money's worth and that saying that my son could test at your facility was misleading. Theres no way if your a driving school business you wouldn't have known ahead time about having to test at a completely different place because your not PENNDOT certified. Somebody should've known and should've been taking care of the customers. Lets say you honestly didn't know until the last minute, then you should take care of your customers and not try and money grab another 50 dollars. Instead if your a business with integrity you should waive the fee for testing at a different facility. The expectation is that he would test at your facility, with your vehicle that hes been practicing in. Now everything changes except your business doesn't care and doesn't keep their word! I WILL NOT BE RECOMMENDING ANYONE EVER DO WHAT I DID AND USE YOUR SERVICES!

They are simply the best in the area, and neither one of our kids have been involved in any traffic incidents since they completed the training. One important aspect is that the instructors put the kids at ease throughout the entire process, and the results speak for themselves.

Fantastic experience: Honestly the best driving school ever! Mr. Whelan is a phenomenal instructor. He helped me grow confidence in my driving and taught me everything I needed to know for the test, I even passed my driving test on the first try. I felt comfortable the moment I met my instructor and the day I took my test with the examiner. As someone with anxiety, Mr Whelan easily changed that mindset of mine. I will forever be grateful for it all! Definitely would recommend!!

Her growth from lesson to lesson was amazing. Now that she has passed her driving test and is out on her own, I feel a bit more confident she has a head start in becoming a responsible driver. Our instructor was kind, friendly, patient, knowledgeable and encouraging. Initially, my daughter was anxious about the classes but she felt much more at ease after the first lesson. I appreciated the update after each lesson and the suggestions for areas of improvement. During a family emergency, Bill went above and beyond to ensure my daughter could still attend her lesson. I am forever grateful for the professionalism and personal attention that was provided to my family. I highly recommend this driving school. Nowadays, it is difficult to find outstanding customer service but this company delivers!

Fantastic experience: I've had both my teenagers go through Petaccio's full course of lessons and final test. You cannot get it any easier: kids are taught good habits, drop off and pick up are ideal, and kids were comfortable with the instructors within the first lesson. I would and have recommended.

Fantastic experience: My son felt at ease with his instructors and the examiner. My son is shy and both the instructor were able to make him feel comfortable. After each lesson we would get a recap on how the lesson went and what we needed to work on. Since they are so knowledgeable with young drivers they were able to catch and explain things that made sense to our son. I would recommend to anyone with a first time driver. We know many kids that have gone with this driving school and all have great experiences.

Negative experience: Mr. B your driving skills and teaching pretty much sucks. How are you supposed to teach a child if you are yelling at them constantly. Having a bad attitude towards new learners and saying negative things to a parent after the lesson. My child will not be coming to this driving school. If you own this place, take a look at yourself get a better attitude!! Stars none!!!!!

Fantastic experience: At Petaccio Driving School, the entire process from picking lessons, signing up, getting your student scheduled for classes, (how convenient that they pick up your child at school or your home!) taking the driving exam test, finding out your account balance, making a payment, is seamless. The value of partnering with PDS to teach your child to drive was evident after the first lesson. Mr. Petaccio and instructors are professional, great with teenagers,  and cover everything...even things parents might not think to cover!  Your child will be highly prepared on test day. I am so glad we chose PDS for our daughter. Knowing she is fully prepared to drive on her own is priceless.

Fantastic experience: As the parent of two children a year apart in age, I was completely overwhelmed with the prospect of teaching both kids to drive back to back. My poor nerves couldn’t handle it lol. Couldn’t be happier with the decision to take them to Petaccio’s Driving school. The entire process was seamless from start to finish and resulted in my son passing his test easily on the first try. I especially appreciate that the registration and class selection process is able to be completed online, appointments can be cancelled or rescheduled easily, and they send you plenty of reminder emails/texts ahead of the next lessons. The teachers are pros at what they do and the result is a confident, safe, cautious driver. Mr Reed, especially, is a gift from the heavens. He’s so good at connecting with anxious kids, putting them at ease, cracking a couple dad jokes, and making the most out of every session. After each lesson, students take what they learned and put in the practice hours under the parents’ supervision. By the end of the sessions my son was ready to take his test. At the completion of the driving courses, students take their actual driver’s exam at the school with an examiner from the DMV, the learners permit is stamped, paperwork is sent to the state, and the student leaves Petaccio’s with a valid driver’s license in hand. Super convenient and a huge difference in having to go to the hassle at the DMV. So now that my son passed his test this weekend, I will be registering my daughter for the course as well. I need every possible insurance discount I can get lol.

Fantastic experience: I passed my driving test today thanks to their help!! Gary and Tom have been helping me with lessons for a while now and the driving test examiner was also very kind. Gary and Tom were absolutely awesome instructors, and Gary was hilarious. They helped ease my nerves during the drives and they’re great at their job!

Fantastic experience: My son felt very comfortable with the different instructors and that he was well prepared going into the exam. The scheduling of time slots on the website is easy, but availability of time slots posed a bit of a challenge based on high demand. However, the website is easy to work with, allows for notifications to student and parents when desired time slots become available, and the staff was very responsive in terms of helping to coordinate. My suggestion is to schedule all of the sessions early and build time in between them in case of conflicts.

Fantastic experience: It’s a great place for kids to learn. Learning to drive can be a little stressful for kids, but my son had Bill and felt relaxed.

Fantastic experience: My foster daughter was an excellent student driver but i wasn't able to get her comfortable with parallel parking. She signed up for the 1.5 hr class with Petaccio. Tom was able to provide tips for parking that worked! She passed her Penn DOT test and she said she pulled into the parking spot first try, no backups. Thanks Tom.
