Fantastic experience: Im currently still in school right now at Hamrick completing the 600 hr program and I will say I am getting a good experience from all staff from front office to the yard instructors , maintenance and yard mechanics, Ms Hattie Ms Judy Poppa C , Courtney and ed are all very helpful and patient with students throughout this course they push you to work hard and will go above to make sure you understand what you are doing and comfortable behind the wheel. I hope I can get a chance to get out on the road a few more times with poppa c before I graduate to make sure I’m doing everything correctly from up shifting and down shifting I totally recommend this school to obtain your CDL.

Fantastic experience: Great school. My experience may vary from others because of how I look at life. I take adversity head first and went during a time when the cdl requirements transitioned. School was more than willing to provide extra help even after my classes ended in order to ensure test was passed. If you are a motivated student anyone in this facility will go above and beyond to help you out. If you are not motivated they will still encourage you to learn. The equipment is not brand new. But it works well and clearly works good enough to train on to get your license. They have manual and automatic trucks to train on. If I could change anything about the school I wouldn’t. Is it perfect ? No. Is life perfect? No. Hamrick was great to me and if anyone is thinking of giving it a try I would say do it . This is just an honest review. I took the 600hr course so I was able to see a lot during my time. I’m more than happy with my choice

Fantastic experience: First and foremost, I am not the type of person to post a review, but Hamrick School rightfully deserves one. When the logistic bottleneck happened in 2020-2022, my Corporate employer wanted me to acquire my CDL to assist if necessary. Therefore, I enrolled at Hamrick School with absolutely zero experience. I completed their two-month CDL fast track night program in 2022. Moreover, I easily passed the State of Ohio Skills Testing requirements, and acquired my CDL Class-A CDL without any issues. The CDL test with the State of Ohio was very easy from the knowledge that I had received from Hamrick School. I would like to thank Mindy, Hattie and Papa C. Everyone was very professional and organized. Most importantly, I enjoyed Papa C's style of teaching. I can now double shift with a splitter without any hesitation. I enjoyed my ride along with him. Hattie gave great individual instruction so you could comprehend the tractor and trailer movements. Mindy in the office will help you get a career (if needed), and follow-up with you to make certain your employed. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with everyone there, and look forward to seeing everyone in the future. Thank you Hamrick-I couldn't have done it without you.

Negative experience: A former student here. This place was a horrible experience personally for me. I was worried every day if they would get shut down by the state. The student instructor ratio is close to 12 to 1 on average (over double of what is supposed to be). I had to fight for my time on the truck and there will be days where I pre tripped for 8 hours day in and day out. Cost is entirely too much for the quality of education you receive. Equipment is a complete disaster and instructors are mostly not licensed. Keep in mind they train you in day cabs and driving tests are done in sleepers so when you go testing make sure you can do maneuvers in a sleeper truck. Bright spot are Hattie and Papa C.

Fantastic experience: The road instructor Robert is one of the best with teaching u how to operate a truck and shift it he don't start u off slow he takes u right into it to get the experience of what u need for your test and real life on the road. Fantastic experience: I am a graduate from Hamrick School. I enjoyed my time there and the instructors were all super helpful and knowledgable. I came to the school for one thing and one thing only and that was to receive my CDL. As I came across some of the reviews, I couldn't help but laugh at some of the false comments that people have written. People should really start to mind their own business. Besides, I'm pretty sure all of you that are bad mouthing the school have your CDLs.

Negative experience: I am a former Hamrick student and graduate. I attended the 244 class and am very upset with how Hamrick was ran. The classroom part of the course was extremely unorganized and more goofing off was done than anything. There were only a few decent instructors who have left since. Many of them do not care about the students and are only there to make a paycheck. They let some of their best staff just walk away. All of the equipment is absolutely horrible. I would not be surprised if none of those trucks would pass a d.o.t. inspection. Years ago this school was the place to go for a CDL. Under the new ownership, this school is one big joke. To anybody looking to get a CDL, I highly recommend avoiding this place like its the plague. There are better schools than this around.

Fantastic experience: I am and have been a student here for quite sometime now. I’m in the master trucker program and I’ve had family issues in which took me a little more time to Graduate. The staff definitely have been understanding to my personal life situations and gave me more time then usual to graduate, I have learn a lot about being a trucker and this school they have treated me like family rather then a student they’ve been there for me and have given me a lot a courage to go out here and succeed in my chosen career. This is a great school to attend if you want to become a truck driver by far. Your going learn exactly what being a trucker is about it’s a lot of knowledgeable truck driver instructors and staff at hamrick I’ve loved my experience. This school is what you make it students complain about the wrong reasons your not there to count how much the school makes your there to learn how to drive a truck it’s funny that people complain but passed I mean if you’ve passed that sound like you got the training you needed lol that’s my opinion.

Fantastic experience: I enjoyed my time at Hamrick School. The instructors were kind and patient with the students. I was able to obtain my CDL A license thanks to the staff at Hamrick School. I would recommend Hamrick School to anyone interested in learning to drive a commercial motor vehicle.

Negative experience: The only good thing here was some of the instructors. The trucks were always broke down, there are way too many students compared to instructors and instructors kept coming and going only had one yard instructor there that was there the whole time I was in school and even that instructor has now quit. Goes to show how it is there. The state says you can only have 4 people to 1 instructor and at most times we had almost 8 if not more people per instructor. You were also supposed to get at least 1 turn per hour and that was definitely not the case. At one point I didn’t even get a turn in the truck for a maneuver until after lunch. Which was about 5.5 hours! Also when it comes to the truck you test in it was older and not as nice as some of the yard trucks! And the yard trucks weren’t even road worthy so that tells you how the test truck was. They also let, probably the best administrator there, walk away because she had to do work of around 3-4 people. She was one of the nicest people there and whenever you needed help she would do everything on her power to help you and they just treated her unfairly. I may have gotten my CDL from here but the only good thing they got going here is the little shacks we had for heat in the winter time during maneuvers. Other than that it just seems like they just would take your money and not even put it to good use. My class combined paid almost $300,000 and you would NEVER be able to tell. I hate to say it but I would NOT recommend you go here for your CDL school unless of course you want to waste your money and barely get any actual training.

Negative experience: The classes where over crowded. I felt like I was rushed thru. The one person that really helped me get thru my course was Amy Atkinson ! She deserves a 20$ raise fasho ! She is hands on with the students and take her job seriously!

Fantastic experience: Besides the distance from my home the school is awesome. I have never done anything with commercial vehicles but after working with the staff at Hamrick I am confident that I can succeed.

Negative experience: Run!!!! Equipment can’t even pass a pre trip inspection. There’s only one good teacher and the staff is like a revolving door. When doing maneuvers you’re lucky to get 15 minutes of seat time a day out of 8 hours. The school is way overbooked which causes so much back log. You won’t be taught in the classroom what you need to know. It all sounds great when you’re doing your tour and interview, in Reality you’re just another bank deposit for them. Poorly managed. Go look at the equipment for yourselves. It is not a safe place to learn.

Negative experience: I attended CDL-A school here and wish I went somewhere else. The owners only care about putting a buck in their pocket and will cut every corner with no thought about the equipment, instructors or students. The instructors are under-appreciated and under paid which hurts the students. I actually had an instructor fall asleep while out on the road. In the yard some instructors would be on their phones more than working with the students. And I learned more about driving a truck watching you tube than from some instructors. Now there are a few exceptions but I think the good instructors saw this school going down in flames and have since left. The equipment was also a major issue. At one point DOT came in and shut ALL the trucks down. Sometimes we had 2 road trucks out, sometimes we had 1 and a few times both were broke down and we didn't have any. That played a role in how long it took some to graduate too. When I week for my test I failed the pretrip because I ran out of time and was a few points short of passing. When I went back I had to rent the test sites truck because hamricks' test truck has been broke down for over 4 weeks. So everyone has to rent the truck. This was the school to go to back in the day, now it is the school to avoid at all costs.

Negative experience: This driving school is very unorganized. They don’t have enough instructors to allow people to get yard and driving time. We sat in the classroom for 2 weeks and the instructor read directly from the book. They do not do a good job of keeping track of everyone’s hours so they do not know how many hours you did driving or in the yard. Highly disappointed with this school.

Fantastic experience: It’s a great school, but they are in desperate need of instructors. In need help get the students out on the road at night.

Negative experience: Run down equipment. (Some trucks have no power steering). Most of the instructors are there to collect cash, doesn’t care if you succeed or not. I graduated, barely understanding maneuvers. They enroll too many students at a time, which means there’s 4 students in one truck with less time behind the wheel. I recommend taken the longer program if you have no trucking experience.

Fantastic experience: When you go to the test site to take your truck exam and pass, it'll be because of what you learned at Hamrick. They are, in fact, a truck school, and can teach you everything you need to know about operating a semi truck and inspecting it inside and out yourself.

Fantastic experience: I went to school here in 2000. It was a great school then and is a great school now. I came back in 2015 to become an Instructor and have been a part time instructor many times for them since. I would Highly recommend that if you want a career with a solid future where you will always be in demand. Hamrick is the place you want to go to. They are the only Accredited truck driving school in north eastern Ohio. The Instructors are great and have years and years experience to pass on. There is another review on here from a former employee with a grudge. Do not let his anger fuel your decision. If you are interested is driving a truck come check this school out for yourself... you will not regret it.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful school. You will always feel attended to. Small 3/4 person groups per instructor means an in depth hands on approach to learning the truck.

Negative experience: Hamrick is out dated. Classroom is long and pointless. All good instructors have been chased out. Ones that are left only want to play games on there phone and sleep. The trucks are old run down. I worked there for years and watched the place start crumbling. Owners only care about money. Not the students and that is sad and why I left. If you want a cdl. Go elsewhere.

Negative experience: Most of the instructors are great to work with. However, state came in yesterday to do annual inspection and 6 of their trucks were red tagged and were deemed inoperable! They do NOT have good equipment/trucks here at all and show no interest at all in investing in newer trucks or even repairing what should have been repaired ages ago!

Negative experience: If your an Black American you will be facing ethnic intimidation i.e. Confederate flags being visible by staff and students. Furthermore Igor Kutserman (Owner) is not only a racist but a liar. This school is a complete waste from staff to management. I filed several complaints against them, and if your a black male speaking up against RACISM they will call you BELLIGERENT lol but yet they allow a uncomfortable learning environment. I IMPLORE you to seek another truck driving school. YOU’VE been WARNED. Update 2022 This further proves my point on why if your a Black American you should avoid this school at ALL COST. This school lacks accountability, Igor knows exactly the situation and what happened how certain students were driving pick up trucks in the yard with confederate flags and even the teacher a skinny white guy I believe his name to be Martin was on Facebook (laptop attached to tv monitor) in the class his entire homepage full of confederate flags and swastika symbols. I reported this immediately to Igor and he did nothing nor did the school (what was I thinking). Ask yourself who makes this up? YOU,VE BEEN WARNED, AGAIN!!! PS I just received a bill in the mail from Partners Financial Services guess who the creditor is? Hamrick School but yet you have no record of me ever attending. The person who responded to my review is a complete idiot. Update 2022: If you scroll down to the lowest comments you’ll find not one but two of the instructors (Judy and Martin Boggs) that worked there while I attended left distasteful comments of their own. But here’s the kicker Martin is the the teacher I was complaining about, and he even decided to leave an unpleasant review. Check it out. Update 2023 This further proves my point once again. Fantastic experience: In school from Jan-March 2020. Hamrick School taught me everything I needed to know to pass my CDL Class A exam. The instructors were great. The office staff is great. Everyone is there to help you succeed. Even if you're perfect with your pre-trip and maneuvers at the school you can still fail at the test site the first time if your nerves get the best of you (like me). Hamrick lets you come back and practice to insure you don't lose what you've learned. I was in the 244 hour class, I felt fully prepared for my exam and my money was well spent at this school. I started at Hamrick with zero experience and now I'm comfortable behind the wheel and passed my exam with only 1 point, I missed a sign on the road test. Special thanks to: Greg, Allen, Judy, Hattie, Mike, Don and Ellen. If you're looking to get your CDL GO HERE! You will have fun while you learn valuable skills. Previous people have posted about the equipment so let me clear the record. The equipment is just fine, it won't impact your learning or future abilities. If you can drive some of these yard only trucks you can drive anything. You will learn to shift gears, take turns, do maneuvers and be safe on the road without question at this school. When I took my test for the state the truck I used had a brand new transmission, Hamrick takes care of the trucks that matter. If you can't get your CDL after attending Hamrick it's your own fault.

Fantastic experience: I am currently attending Hamrick Truck Driving school. I am in a Master program that they offer that is very thorough in what one needs to know to Test for a CDL (Commercial Drivers Liscensure. I am 300 hours into the program and have 300 more hours. I am so glad I chose to go with this Highly Informative educational school. I am supplied with knowledge such as ice driving skills, driver log book instruction, map reading, and route planning skills. And much more... Learning all the mechanics of the truck and how they function is so interesting and great for mechanicly inclined people. The instructors none above these instructors, they make it interesting! The maneuvers challenging YES, the instructors -each and every one of them(and they're alot of them, have their way of teaching them and are with you every step of the driving process. ) I highly recommend this school for men and women. The administration staff is awesome too. Give them a call. Well worth it!!!!!

Positive experience: Instructors are great, however how the administration office runs is terrible. Have test date coming up in a week and they decided it was a good idea to lay gravel during class hours preventing the students from being able to practice much need maneuvers before testing. So we spent the day sitting around doing a lot of nothing in most of the spots for the maneuvers. Also don’t let anyone talk you into a doing a program you don’t think is a best fit for you. If you think you can do a 244 class great but if you feel you need more time sign up for the 600 class.

Fantastic experience: My experience with Hamrick was amazing. It is negative things I can say about people's attitude however I am a woman and was surrounded by a lot of men so that made me not take things too personal or be sensitive. Now from first meeting with the lady who helped with the tuition I knew I was in the right place. Al was my in class instructor and he did a very excellent job. And the rest was up to me. Hamrick gave me the skills that prepared me to be confident in myself as a professional driver. I came thru the doors with no knowledge of truck driving. And I left with a Class A and passenger endorsement. And that was because of what they taught me. I honestly have nothing bad to say about this school. All the staff are there to assist you so if you put in the work come in when you are supposed to and learn to listen you will have knowledge of everything you need when it is time for you to test and start working. I recommend this school.

Fantastic experience: “Vroom, vroom!” - literally every truck This place is pretty neat. They have a pretty good curriculum and pleasant staff.

Negative experience: Just graduated here. The equipment will definitely get you prepared for the industry. Most of the yard trucks had no functioning clutch just grind it till it goes. Had a steering wheel center section fly off and hit me while doing manuevers. Soo when your done you should be able to drive anything. Evening classes are a pain being the lighting in the yard absolutely sucks. Try finding cones in the dark through a convex mirror. Received very little instruction through yard time. In their defense was told i was doing fine and didnt need it. Ok ill bite. The manager does a pretty good job juggling his duties and playground mediator since most of the other instructors would sit and gossip about their personal lives, insulting students, and doing a fantastic job of telling us what not to do after we do it but not so much what to do before. Primary goal is successfully applied, being the test. Pretrip was, for me learn from other students. Classroom time was an absolute joke. Teacher spent more time telling us we should be glad we were not on days, because how bad the daytime instructor was, than teaching. We would be given a map routing test and not given an idea as to what route to take. Would pick a route that we would prefer and was just told nope wrong route. Only in passing from another student asking her one on one but luck having good hearing did i get her route then 15 minutes before test was to be over did they give an idea. If you have a history with trucks and know your way around them, this is not a good resource. If you are totally ignorant and just want to pass the test and dont care about knowing anything itll get ya there. Administration did however do a great job. Just not great equipment and personally found a lack of tutelage

Negative experience: Terrible it’s like high school, so much gossip it’s ridiculous instructors talk about students and there colleagues to students this place is so unprofessional if you are ready to attend high school again come here!!!

Driving a truck takes a lot of work, but it's all worth it!! If you're willing to work hard, it will pay off. Wish I did this sooner. $$
