Alcantara Driving School

Negative experience: Irresponsible and careless customer service. My daughter has been waiting to finish her driving hours for over three months after she took her classroom hours. We call the main office almost every day, and no one ever answers the calls.

Negative experience: They are a horrible driving school . I don’t recommend . The Front desk person is so rude and unorganized. They make you wait months to get a call back for your driving hours it’s a waste of time and money !

Negative experience: My son finished his class portion in July and still has not been scheduled for the driving portion and we are at end of December. I called many times to get the driving portion scheduled and no one answers the phone. The one time that they had picked up the phone, we were told to call back when the Driving instructor is there. The amount of headache you will get is not worth the trouble.

Negative experience: Very unprofessional , the teachers were very nice but the front desk staff was not , I paid for my driving school and when it came down to the practice driving I told them I do not need the experience they called again the week my children were sick and I couldn’t make the appointment they told me in order for me to finish practice driving that I didn’t even need I must pay 70 dollars . To add on to that I scheduled my driving test only to find out that the school never sent my certificate of completion to the MVA I started driving school at the end of April and finished the beginning of may here we are at the end of June almost July and no progress has been made and I’m being charge excess money after I denied needing driving services and the front desk staff is very dismissive .

Negative experience: So unprofessional. They don’t open at the hours stated literally on the door as well as online which says 8:30 AM by the way. They don’t even have someone in the office at the time to at least take phone calls. Idk about you but I have a life and a job I can’t deal with this nonsense trying to take my brother to driving school, get it together. Ridiculous you’re better off registering with Greg’s driving school.

He makes sure to go over important points over and over, until you fully understand. He NEVER makes you feel bad about not knowing something and works with you until you get it. Yo sentí mucha ansiedad sobre la escuela de manejo, y el examen por una multitud de razones, pero mi duda más importante era sobre el tiempo y dedicación que se necesitaba para irse a otra escuela. Manejar es peligroso, y una responsabilidad que yo no quería porque estoy tan preocupado con sacar buenas notas, buscar trabajo y mantener relaciones. La escuela de manejo es el último lugar en el que yo quería estar. Fui a Alcantara y atendí la clase de Mr. Peter. No sólo aprendí a manejar bien, mis ansiedades sobre el examen desaparecieron. Aprendí mucho más de lo que yo esperaba, y me sentí preparado en el día del examen. Hoy lo tomé por la primera vez y lo hice! No creo que lo pudiera hacer sin la ayuda y instrucción de Mr. Peter. Sin duda es el mejor instructor que yo he tenido. I am 17 years old. I felt anxious about driving school for a lot of reasons, but mainly because I didn't think I could deal with having to go to another school. Driving is dangerous, and a responsibility that I didn't want because I'm already stressed about my grades, work, and even maintaining relationships. Driving school was the last place I want to be. I went to Alcantara and attended Mr. Peter's class. Not only did I learn to like driving, My anxieties about driving and the driving test disappeared. I learned so much more than I thought I would, and felt prepared on the day of the test. Today was my first test and I succeeded! I couldn't have done it without Mr. Peter's instruction. He is undoubtedly the best, friendliest, and most effective teacher I've ever had.

Fantastic experience: When I first registered for this class, I was expecting the two week class; Monday to Friday to be boring and a class I have to struggle to stay awake. But I had Mr. Peter as my driving instructor and the class blew my expectations out the windows. With his amazing life stories and the people in my class made the two week class a breeze and engaging. I’m glad to have been in Mr. Peters class and I’m confident and ready to drive since taking the class!

Negative experience: After I paid for the practice, my reservation was cancelled. Now I have waited for 3 weeks and still can not make any new reservation, and they can not tell me when to open . It is ridiculous.

Fantastic experience: I went to Alcantara for the 36 hour class and three driving sessions and had a great experience! Peter is an excellent teacher, in the classroom and as a driving instructor. His style made me feel really comfortable behind the wheel. Class met every weekday for two weeks from 6 to 9 - which I was really dreading because I work every day but honestly, it went by so fast and Peter made the class time painless. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Finally got my license thanks to Alcantara Driving School , I’ve been driving for years but I came here and learned a lot of new things , but I wanna give a special shout out to Peter , the instructor , helped me all the way to the end . A really patient young man who took his time teaching us in class and on the road . Made me feel ready enough to go get my road test. Anything I needed he was there to help. I hope everyone that comes to the school gets him as a teacher , So ill give this school a 5 star cause I can’t complain about the service ! Thank you !

Fantastic experience: Best driving school and the best teacher Mr.Peter he was so chill and nice and he teached me a lot and I learned a lot of new things and he was understandable when I had an emergency and I got to my location and he was making sure i was driving good and the classes were fun. I was expecting classes to be boring but these classes were fun and I had a good time going here.

Fantastic experience: Kind staff, smells good inside, couches are great! I honestly don't know why you should choose another driving school. I don't know about other instructors but mr. Peter is the goat. I doubt the guy is hated by someone.

Negative experience: If I could, I would rate zero. The instructor was on his phone talking while I was driving, then he was watching YouTube videos. He kept checking his phone and wasn’t paying attention. I highly do not recommend this place at all.

Negative experience: See update below. Teaching is good. The instructor Rafael is calm and patient person. But my experience with the payment was awful. During my first road test, Alcantara's accompanying person came 1 hour late and we reached the DMV almost half an hour after my scheduled appointment. I did not pass the test. During the second time, DMV took 2.5 hours to process my paperwork (no fault of mine; DMV was upgrading their software). In the end, I passed the test. However, Alcantara's front desk told me that they will charge me $50 for "excess time" taken at DMV. The accompanying lady said that taking me to DMV took "all of her day". On average, the road test takes 1.5 hours at DMV. So, my test took only one hour above the average. If DMV is crowded, then it easily takes more than 1.5 hours. This is not a fault of the customer. There is no guarantee that one's road test and paperwork at DMV will be completed in 1.5 hours. When I pointed out that, during the first test, the Alcantara accompanying lady herself was late by one hour, the front desk simply shrugged it off and charged me $40. This is simply a rip-off. There was no heads-up that I will be charged for excess time or that the standard time limit for renting their vehicle is 1.5 hours. They came up with this only after I returned to Alcantara to collect my change. My whole experience with Alcantara turned out to be very unpleasant. I asked them to refund $40 but they refused. Update: Yesterday, I complained via email and phone to the owner/instructor Rafael. He directed the front desk to refund me $40.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience at this school. Our teacher, Rafael, made class fun and interesting all the time. While doing behind the wheel, I had Rafael and Peter teach me and they were very helpful. Mostly Peter, he always corrected me in a kind way, was always calm and relaxed, and made driving seem fun most of the time. He is always talking about things to look out for and give helpful tips, and overall is a great instructor. I would love to drive with him again if I could.
