Fantastic experience: I failed my first driving test but passed the second time and even when I failed the first time I think the 30 minute lessons with instructor Tamara helped tremendously very patient and with a good tone/attitude I hear that most people feel like they fail because they had a bad instructor but I think Tamara was very fair

Negative experience: Horrible communication, unreliable and inconsistent testing and they nickle and dime you to death. We are still waiting for the email to register for yet another test almost 3 weeks after our driver passed the drive 5. The kids are ready to test and this company’s lack of follow through and timeliness leads to way more anxiety than necessary. I would give them a zero for their disorganization and crappy customer service. Would never use them again and sorry we did it the first time. Update: Mutliple calls to the Bremerton location and STILL no email with instructions and link for final skills and written test! This is beyond unacceptable. If you want your teen to be stressed and upset when they are ready to get their license but can’t because of this company’s lack of follow through, by all means sign them up!

Negative experience: They teach you more how to avoid an accident then how to actually drive, I mean they do teach you how to drive but it's more accident/collision oriented and some of the instructors comments weren't very nice

Negative experience: Keep your money if you don’t have any driving experience. They only take you out about 2 to 3 times for almost 700 dollars for the course. It is a waste of money if you want to be taught how to drive.

Negative experience: After i took my skills test i was told i can take it one more time with the $80 fee but when i called to make up my failed test the person on the phone said that i had only one chance when i pay $80 which is messed up because the testing person told me on my first test that i was going to fail my first time and that’s what the second chance was for. Way to get my hopes up jerks.

Fantastic experience: I made a mistake of not reading the fine print and booked 12 x 1 hour lessons. I didn’t realize that they expire in 3 months so I booked my knowledge test one month late due to family priorities. BUT they were so nice to make adjustments and helped me out. I really appreciated it. It is recommended to book 5 x 1 hour lessons first and then go from there to account for scheduling. Don’t be like me! I jumped to buying 12 lessons because I know I am a nervous driver and I would rather take more lessons and be a safe driver than finishing right away. But they were so nice about it and I am feeling optimistic. I have taken the new driver workshop and knowledge test. They try to make the new driver workshop very engaging and interactive so I learned a lot! I have not started lessons yet but looking forward to it.

Fantastic experience: The Defensive Driving School online and in person instructors were kind, informative, and professional. The written course was thorough and illustrative as well, giving me the confidence I needed to start practicing driving, and to do so safely.

Negative experience: I would look at other programs. Their materials to help prepare and study for the state knowledge test are a joke. They provide no practice exams. Waste of $700 for a course. You then are forced to pay for study materials from a 3rd party and pay for additional tests. Just know your fees go to the expensive Tesla they drive around, not for updated materials to help new drivers pass their exam. I see they updated to say she waited a year. She did not wait a year. Additionally, when you take the actual exam, they don't even test you under the same conditions they teach. Parallel parking, they make you park by a cone in a parking lot rather than on a street where your child has been parking. Same with the backing around the corner. Practice is on a corner with a sidewalk and then the test they took her to some side street without a curb and a ditch. Taking to other parents this school is known for purposely failing students knowing they will make you pay to test again. Go someplace else and don't waste your time and money here.

She was very patient and funny, she also used homemade models to show me how to park and various maneuvers which was extremely helpful! I cannot thank her enough I feel much more confident driving now ❤️

I passed my test out of two times especially from the 911 driving school I felt that defensive driving school had more outgoing people that professional, and gave me the chance to inspire myself to get my drivers liscence

Negative experience: DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! Their poor record keeping has caused my granddaughter to have to take the entire class again. I am absolutely certain she has fulfilled all the obligations to pass but they say there’s no record of it. They won’t even consider the notes in her class journal. This has happened to others at this place so do not trust them for one second! They will scam you and take your money!

Fantastic experience: Justin has been my driving instructor and I am so grateful for the help! Today, we went on a drive to practice city driving, lane changing, and just general balance and being comfortable behind the wheel of the car and then also interacting with others. Sadly, that's a big deal for me since I can get pretty nervous. I actually have a driver's license but I have not driven in a very long time, so I basically almost feel like I am an almost new driver. I have been really fortunate to get used to driving again working with justin, since we have worked on parallel parking, backing in and out of parking scenarios, and have gone on a few drives to practice City driving and driving on less crowded streets as well. There are things that I feel like I never properly learned when I drove more over a decade ago, and things that I have previously been really nervous about but I finally feeling comfortable behind the wheel and understanding things in a way that I did not fully understand long ago. I am really grateful for the defensive driving school and getting to work with Justin to practice going on drives and literally getting behind the wheel again (-: Thank you!

Negative experience: I work for another driving school in the area. And I am absolutely appaled and discusted of the horror stories I've heard from here. No care for the students. I've even heard that kids would get covid, and even though the DOL states there are NO DEADLINES AT THIS TIME. , they will say"oh. Well it's too late to finish your class now, but we'll give you a discount". Even if it was a quarter of the price of the next xlosest school. I'd still send them somewhere else. I am completely disappointed and down right discusted with how they do business. And I'm sure they'll try to say something back. But im echoing word of mouth. So if this IS the case. They need to be shut down. They don't care about people's lives and make completly irrational calls with no regard to students health. I will NEVER recommend these guys to ANYONE! Stay away if you value your cash. Watch them delete this cause "wElL YoU wErE NeVeR a sTuDeNt" I've talked with over a dozen, all saying the same thing. Get it together.

Negative experience: This school is very unprofessional. I will be suing for discrimination because when i left a review about my experience and called back later to schedule an appointment i was told that since i left a bad review i can’t test there anymore & the lady started a whole argument. Do not recommend. ***response no you started being rude and kept asking if i want to test here again and it’s weird that i’m calling back when that has nothing to do with your business. your job is to answer the phone not question me because you feel a way about my review. yes i did hang up because you started an argument when i kept asking when is the next date i can test. i’m not staying on the phone with you for you to disrespect me when how you feel doesn’t matter to anyone.

Negative experience: Place is horrible. They have no understanding when you say you have no car to practice on, they just rather tell you to keep paying again and again to pass. They literally find every little thing you do wrong & don’t care to fail you. If you’re not the worlds perfect driver I wouldn’t advise you to pay your money to take a driving test. I’m a pretty good driver it’s sad that I’m going through hell to get a license in this state due to lack of sympathy, options, & understanding. Never again. ***response it is to my understanding that the prices are extremely unreasonable which is why Washington State is the hardest state to obtain a license. Again, when you don’t have a car to practice with it is in fact harder to pass. that’s where the lack of sympathy or understanding comes in. people make mistakes and we all have our own way of driving. During my two sessions i did the exact same thing except one thing. My second lesson I was hit with countless mistakes that I beg to differ. During my second session with Dave he informed me that us riding around in the parking lot wasn’t the graded part. Then i see cones to parallel park and when I had a question he said “I can’t answer that.” Meanwhile I was never informed that cone parallel parking was an indication that I was being graded. Due to me parallel parking between actual cars in my first test. Then i got points taken off due to me making sure it was safe to turn left by evaluating both ways of traffic, but in his eyes I had the right of way and should’ve kept going regardless. But I guess everyone does things differently.I will not pay $1300+ for a few hours of lessons. Hopefully one day I can meet the perfect expectation of Defense driving school. . Just sharing my experience I’m not here to sway anyones mind. This is my opinion and there is no right or wrong whether you’re an instructor or student.

Fantastic experience: took the defensive driving zoom course with coach justin & mitch, class was always so much fun and very informative. both are very funny and knew how to keep everyone engaged in what we were learning. they were more than willing to slow down and made sure we all fully understood the material. 10/10 loved the zoom class! i have also completed 4 out of 5 drives with Pam as my instructor and she was great. before meeting her i had read some reviews that mentioned her which concerned me but she was very patient with me. she made sure to explain everything i was doing wrong and let me know how i could adjust/correct those mistakes. for things i had questions about, she was more than happy to break down the reasoning for me. she was very reassuring during my drives and made sure to be detailed when talking about my weak areas so i was able to leave each drive knowing exactly what to work on. from the first time i met her, i let her know how nervous and anxious i was behind the wheel which she completely understood. it’s safe to say i’m a lot more comfortable behind the wheel because of her advice. highly recommend taking this course!

Negative experience: Horrible experience. I ignored all of the questionable advice I received from Pam, and passed my driving test on the first try. Multiple family members, friends, and even the driving test administrator confirmed that questionable advice I received was wrong. Pam would slap her hand on the steering wheel while I was driving to correct minor steering adjustments when no dangerous actions were taking place. Pam was impatient, aggressive, and unfriendly. When I called to complain, one of the supervisors named Bonnie said that the multiple people who confirmed that Pam's advice was inaccurate were "fools" and that I needed to study the driving guide (reminder: I passed my driving test on the first try). Her defense of Pam's behavior and methods were that she's a retired sheriff and that "she knows the law". Bonnie also stated that slapping students hands and steering wheels are "standard procedure" and that I had no right to complain. Given the service I received, I requested a refund. I was refused, since I "received the services" that I paid for. I would advise that people choose other driving schools, or at the very least, another teacher.

Negative experience: My girlfriend had taken a Drivers Permit test at this location. She unfortunately failed. But the way she was informed was utterly rude and unprofessional. She had to take the test in a classroom with other people who were also taken a written test (Not digitally, like they offer at DOL locations like for example Lynnwood's DOL location). The proctor (Tessie) told her out-loud within earshot of everyone else "If you didn't change your answer here, you would've passed" While I do not believe the intent was malicious, I find that the context and environment in front of multiple other people was immensely unprofessional. Failing a test in any context doesn't feel good, but to be casually shamed in front of everyone out loud is out of line. If you're going to review someones score in front of everyone else, I would refrain from offhanded comments like this or make sure that this sort of information is conveyed quietly and respectfully.

Positive experience: The driving school itself is not bad but If you’re uncomfortable I don’t suggest taking any lessons with Pam she’s the only instructor I felt terrified with she kept taking the wheel and reminding me that I wouldn’t pass my drivers test which I did. Dave was my favorite instructor.

Negative experience: Had to explain multiple times I do not have anyone to help me drive at home, I had drove as much as I could which met their requirements, the tests for driving were incredibly stressful, and the lack of financial aid when the class is so expensive seems a little ridiculous, especially in an impoverished area.

Negative experience: Was 20 minutes early realised i forgot my wallet ran home and back in less than 10 minutes but they would not let me take the knowlage test. Just really sucks. Its easy for them to say there hands are tied when they already have your money. Its like burning 110 dollars. These days thats not nothing overall just seemed scummy of them. 10 09 when I got back and they wouldn't let me take the test I paid for. This place all business no customer service whatsoever.

Positive experience: Haven’t taken the lessons, only the written knowledge test. The woman running the test mumbled the instructions so quietly no one could hear her, and acted bothered when people brought their test to her for grading. They also don’t let you know what questions you missed, it’s a strictly pass or fail grade. It was a very depressing experience and I will look elsewhere to take the driving portion of the test.

Positive experience: Took around 7-8 driving lessons at this school. Overall I am much better at driving and feel way more confident behind the wheel. My reason for 4 stars is the instructors most of the time are great, but I feel they can get a bit impatient when you don't get something down the very first attempt. Seems they can be a bit more patient when I'm trying to attempt something unfamiliar to me. I have also taken the knowledge test here and it was quite hard, even though I studied non stop in the days leading up to it. I still passed first attempt but there were questions that were not covered in the DOL Book. I also have a friend who went through this school for knowledge test and failed twice, but passed the first time at DMV. I recommend taking knowledge test at DMV but skills test here.

Fantastic experience: I took classes from Defensive Driving in Silverdale, but took the knowledge and driving tests at the Bremerton location. I appreciated the precautions they took given our current situation with COVID-19; the tables were spaced for the knowledge test, the car was disinfected before my driving test, and masks were required for both. The instructor for my driving test was patient, calm, and gave instructions clearly and directly. For those looking to test, I would highly recommend this location.
