The instructors in this school are the best they've helped me archived something I didn't know that I would be able to. The staffs in the front office are helpful. Fantastic experience: Where do I even begin , CDS is the best choice so look no further if you're looking for a school to enroll to , even though I struggled they continued to work with me even off the clock all the staff there is very dedicated and well educated I want to give a special shout out to Rodney and Tavy for all the extra hours you put into ensuring I passed my test as well as making sure I have the knowledge to continue to be successful and safe while driving a class a vehicle ... Fantastic experience: Ok let me start off by saying I am a LMT and I wanted to do something new, so I decided to get my CDL to drive big rigs. I called probably ALL the schools to make sure that school was right for me and my learning style. I almost went with a different school, but I wanted manual transmission. Not all schools offer that in my area and would fit my life as I am still raising kids. I’m GLAD I decided CDS was my final decision! The ladies in the front office knew me and answered all the questions I asked every time I called in with MORE questions I had before enrolling. It was intense at first because there’s so much information you need to get your permit, but they made sure you understood what they were teaching. ALL the instructors are great! And they have so many different teaching techniques for each of our classmates. And we had a huge class! But they got us all trained and prepped for the actual DOL testing which eased my test anxiety go WAY down! Was I trained to get my CDL license? ABSOLUTELY!! I passed the first try, as a lot of my classmates did too! Would I recommend this school to everyone? ABSOLUTELY!!

They support you every step of the way-in the classroom, with medical, acquiring your learner’s permit, and in the yard in the vehicle preparing you for your skills tests. The instructors are professional and knowledgeable, preparing me well for my professional driving career.

Fantastic experience: From the very first seconds of learning how to operate a commercial vehicle the instructor pushed me hard into the vehicle knowledge and ins and outs (that darn flipper) of how to properly operate a commercial vehicle. It's really something you have to experience to truly understand. They had me extremely motivated and ready to pass by the time I took my test. Thanks CDS! You guys are killer!!!

Fantastic experience: I went there 10 years ago. Well I tried to renew my license today and had an issue, went back to cds and they gave me the paperwork to fix the issue no questions asked. I hope you don't go anywhere else for you CDL school

John our instructor made the class fun but engaging and provided me with the tools I needed to pass the test on the first go. I highly recommend this school. If you need a CDL don't hesitate.

Fantastic experience: Took the Hazmat course. Going in to it, I thought I was in for a boring 16 hours. But Isy made it fun. She did a great job, and I passed the Hazmat and Tanker test first try thanks to her and the program! I took advantage of the online option. Love that that was an option!

Fantastic experience: Today, I passed my DOL cdl pretrip, backing, and drive exams on my first try, and it's all due to CDS instructor Tavy and the CDS school staff. Tavy taught me everything I needed to know to not only pass my tests but to also be a safe driver, he allowed me to make mistakes and then taught me what I needed to know to correct them and I actuallyused what I learnedfrom him to pass my exams. Also, Jess the Pre-Trip instructor was a huge help in preparing for my Pre-Trip, she was awesome to work with. Sara Fallowfield was instrumental in my success, the rest of the CDS staff helped me through the entire process. THANK YOU ALL! Anyone reading this if you're wanting to learn what you need to know to get your class A cdl, CDS is the school to go to. I didn't know anything about driving trucks when I walked into their classroom but through their dedication to teach me everything I needed to know, I passed my exams in one shot!!! Big shout out to CDS!!!!!

Negative experience: It’s taken me almost over a year to write this review but after therapy I no longer feel bad for it. I strongly advise against woman going to this location. Some instructors will have your driving lessons including driving by their home and then asking if you’d like to come in or driving you by a truck stop restaurant asking you to eat with them. I tried to be really understanding seeing as a lot of them were old but no one should have to feel that uncomfortable when trying to get a certification . I never finished and thankfully was leaving Washington but be advised of certain instructors and please speak out. I regret not doing so at the time.

These instructors actually care & as long as your willing to put in the work they’ll do anything to help you succeed. Fantastic experience: TRUST THE PROCESS! This school is 2nd to NONE! The power team of instructors, literally what makes this school what it is. Micheal (classroom): will give you all the knowledge you need to get your permit! Absolutely outstanding! The best there is! John: He’s a detailer! He’ll make your neck hurt when you realized you haven’t been doing all your mirror checks! He explains things very simple and easy to understand. Chris: (words have meaning) so thankful for him! Literally, the best! He’ll get your downshifting right and make you see that the traffic light is actually way further then what you think if you just stop panicking. His calm demeanor makes you completely relax. You don’t get a lot of “good jobs” from Chris! So when you do you know you’re doing really good. He’s incredible! The bestest! Rodney: Is a damn drill sergeant! Every school needs a Rodney! He will push you to your limits and in the end help you surpass them. He’s a beast! Exceptional! David: Pack a lunch! He will take you on looooong drives. Great for getting you comfortable with shifting. Don’t believe him when he says you’ll be stopping somewhere great to eat for lunch! It’s the damn gas station haha Cam: He is the secret weapon to this entire school. He will get you right in any area you are struggling with. ANY! He’s that freaken good! You just need to see pass his height and how annoying humble he is haha he will never take a compliment and will always say it’s all you! He goes above and beyond. He is furrrreaken phenomenal. The best motivator! If Cam can’t fix you, no one can! Lastly, Darrell: the main squeeze! The shot caller! He will call you out on your wrongs! It helps out tremendously when you’re trying to learn. He always make sure you are mentally checked in (much needed) and get you all the help you need. Jessica, Bruce, Mr. Jerry and (badass)Ms.Tammy are also amazing! As well as the front desk Keira && Erin.

Anja was awesome, and going on the test drives and explaining everything before you had to make a decision on what you needed to do. Their expertise, patience, and dedication to teaching made the learning process smooth and enjoyable. They possessed an in-depth understanding of the trucking industry and were able to effectively communicate concepts in a manner that was easy to understand. Their guidance and support boosted my confidence behind the wheel, ensuring that I was fully prepared for the CDL examination. CDS goes above and beyond by providing the tools necessary for a comprehensive and hands-on learning experience. The vehicles and facilities were well-maintained, and their teachings mirrored real-life scenarios and practices. Whether it was practicing various maneuvers, mastering pre-trip inspections with their very own pre-trip coach Jessica, or attending the additional 16 hour HME class taught by Cameron, of which i can say I've never had a more enjoyable Hazmat class in my life, I rarely felt limited due to a lack of resources, and this allowed me to develop the crucial skills that were needed for my success. They can teach you something that is difficult or may seem confusing and they will explain it in ways that are so simple. I took night classes and could not have asked for a better experience with my instructor Rodney. He is a beast at what he does and most Importantly he’s an awesome guy to be around. I couldn’t thank him enough. I also got to thank Cameron for all the help he gave me and being a great classroom instructor as well. Also thank you to the office staff you guys freaking rock. I didn’t get to meet all of the staff but thank you all.

Fantastic experience: Great school, got into it knowing nothing about trucks and leaving with a CDL and all the endorsements i wanted to get. They will teach you everything you need to know to get your permit and everything. I failed my test the first time, but they dont give up on you. You keep practicing until you get it. You get what you put into it. The teachers are great, alot of them are former military so you get very assertive but clear instructions. My favorite teacher was Cameron he taught me the Hazmat class and helped me get some extra practice after i took the test once and failed it, and i passed my second try. They also help you find a job after you get your cdl. Overall 10/10, would recommend to anyone interested in getting a CDL.

Fantastic experience: This was the best CDL training program I could of asked for. It wasn't just one or two instructors that made it worth it but it was everyone on the team. The front office DAWN and ANGELA helped me tremendously in the paperwork regarding getting my license and are very kind and considerate people. I had multiple instructors and each one gave me different tips and tricks I could apply to my driving and I'm thankful for each of them. RODNEY- gave me real straight to the point advice and helped me gain confidence going into difficult situations. CAMERON- offered a whole different way of teaching and made people smile even in the scariest moments of them learning to drive. DAVID- shared life experiences and made the students in the truck with him feel comfortable and shared very helpful insight from his experience as a driver. JESSICA- relayed the importance of repetition on the pretrips into all of our brains and its what led me to get 100 percent on both during my test. ANYA- was my first day driving coach and helped me realize I will do just fine through the program and was very kind hearted to each of her students. JERRY- I only got to have Jerry as my backing instructor a couple of days however during those days he gave such knowledgeable advice about the trucks and controlling them it also helped me in my driving. CHRIS- I got to drive with Chris multiple times and it was a great experience. Chris and I had great conversation while also learning a tremendous amount on each and every drive. JON- I got to spend very little time with Jon since during my time at the yard he was teaching the class B students but with the little bit of time I did talk to him he gave me great advice and I could also tell he cares a ton about each and every student he teaches, he is great at explaining real world situations and how to handle them properly. DARRELL- Darrell and I clicked day one and he is an outstanding instructor. He teaches people to quit complicating the process of driving or backing and gives very insightful and simple tips to make it as easier for students. He knows every piece of the cdl training process like the back of his hand and is a perfect person for the position. I'm very thankful for each and every person involved in my cdl training process and this school provides gold standard training that gives you 100 percent chances of passing your cdl test if you as a student apply yourself and want to learn. Passing my test first try is absolutely because of the great instructors and members of lakewood cds and I thank each and every one of you for the time I spent there.

Fantastic experience: Overall great experience. I knew nothing of driving semi trucks before attending the school. I have moderate experience driving a normal truck and trailer. Big shout out to John, Jerry, Darrel (sorry if that's spelled incorrectly) and Jessica. John got me going at the start, Jerry drilled the information into my head, Darrel provided backing education and extra drives before test day and Jessica made sure we knew all of the components of the truck and trailer and what to look for as far as damage. I passed my tests on the first attempt due to the instructors at the Lakewood facility. My recommendation to anyone considering this school is simple. First off, yes, do it. Second, Shut up, listen, do, and trust the process. Ask questions. They will be awnsered in a way that makes sense. If you can do that then you will be well on your way. Thanks CDS!!

They care about you learning and also making sure you have the necessary tools in order to compete in this market, and be well equipped to handle multiple situations you may encounter on the road. I got through this class first try and I know that with their help, anyone could. Since they help you get your permit AND your license, it really feels like you get the most out of your classroom time before moving on to driving practice. Fantastic experience: I just want to say thank you to the amazing team at the CDS Lakewood campus! I just completed my Class A CDL course on Friday and was able to pass my skills test and get my CDL just a few days later. From the moment I originally walked in the door to get information, I was met with open arms by Madison. Even though they were about to close, she took the time to give me all the information I needed and answered all of my questions. This campus has an amazing front office staff! Angela, Shanna, and especially Dawn were absolutely professional every time I went into the office. The instructors are probably the best around. Under the leadership of Darrell, they have a way of making you comfortable while explaining the seriousness of this new career path. I spent the first week in the classroom with Mike. He provided great instruction which allowed me to pass my written permit test on the first try. I also passed the tests for the doubles/triples and tanker endorsements at the same time. During yard week, I first drove with David. He was very patient and had the ability to make you feel calm. Great person to start with for your first day! I then drove with Chris. Very calm as well but he challenged me. His attention to every detail was astounding. I finished off the week with Jerre and I drove with him during the entire 3rd week as well. Jerre is the reason I passed my skills test on the first try. He can be strict but he has the ability to point out your faults and make you learn from your mistakes. That's the kind of trainer you need. He knows how to prepare you for the skills test. Very knowledgeable about the trucking industry and how to be a professional and safe driver. Special thanks to Jerre! I didn't get to drive with Rodney but he did give me some excellent pointers on how to complete my backing maneuvers. Lastly, I want to give some credit to Cameron. He took me on my final "check drive" before my skills test and in those 30 minutes, he taught me a few more things that I didn't know. He also has some great techniques on how to remember the pre trip inspections. All of these instructors are amazing and will have your best interest at heart. It's up to us as students to put the effort in and study hard. Four weeks go by fast and there is so much to learn but it can be done as long as you stay committed and determined to pass. I'm sorry I'm leaving WA state in a few months but I know this team will always be there if I need help in the future. Give this team a chance and you won't regret it! Fantastic experience: Words cannot describe my experience at CDS and to do so even doesn’t scratch the surface. I walked in as an individual seeking knowledge and guidance on a new career journey, and left a family that prepared me for success. From the front office and to each instructor, I can’t thank you enough for the support and love you all give. You all believed in each and everyone of us that came through and you have always given us believed nothing but the best. Thank you all for everything you’ve done, but more than anything, for preparing and believing in me. You all are truly the best and I am going to make you all proud.

Negative experience: I don’t recommend it save your money go somewhere else this school is unprofessional and they waste your time and money I m disappointed if I knew I would not go there bad very bad school I would give them zero star

Fantastic experience: My experience at CDS Lakewood was the best, staff and instructors(Joe) very professional and they will do everything to get students to pass. I never drove a manual before and when Joe was done with me I was relaxed and driving like the pro I am. Thanks .

Fantastic experience: Lakewood campus is an excellent school that’s willing to work with you and get you ready to pass the DOL test first try! You must also put in the time and effort and they will guide you the rest of the way!

Fantastic experience: I came to CDS with no experience in the world of truck driving and left a changed person. I learned so much, the experience I had at CDS Lakewood was absolutely amazing. Everyone from the front office to all the instructors went above and beyond to help me obtain my CDL-A. I will be forever thankful to my instructor Joe who had the patience and dedication to walk me through the entire course. Joe and another instructor Cameron spent extra time with me and I am so grateful for it. They provided many resources from Saturday backing practice, extra drive practice and much more. I never felt like they were not doing their best to help me pass my test. Thank you CDS!

Positive experience: Attended this school for 4 weeks. First week is mostly for passing the permit test. Passed all tests first try. Next 3 weeks are pre trip, backing and road drives. With a fleet of at least 8 tractors 12 trailers, and 8 instructors at my campus, there was never any downtime.

Negative experience: If I could give zero star I would do it don’t waste your money in this school For many reasons First you won’t get enough time for backing they will give you only maybe 30 munites a day and when it comes to bleu card they will put 8 hours of backing Wich is not true Second I did not get enough driving maybe 10 hours and put 18 hours If you fail your first test you won’t have second chance maybe for 3 mouth Wich is my case it is unprofessional

Negative experience: I looked up there website for hazmat 16 hours course. I find a date available that's works for me for Lakewood location I called the front desk. And she answered my phone phone call. And I asked her the date are correct and she said yes and she said you can come in to sign up for the class. I said okay I'll be there tomorrow and when I showed up and paid $695 and she gives me the receipt and the address for the class says Olympia? I asked her what's that? I signed up for Lakewood location and she said on no we don't do it in Lakewood anymore. And she said you have Lakewood or auburn. And auburn the have different date and only Olympia have same date as I took 2 days off from work. That's was not a professional and you need to tell the truth on the phone it's not nice to lie on customer. And also the class was the stupidest class I have ever been in my life.

Fantastic experience: Instructors are very experienced and teach you real world strategies and scenarios you could potentially encounter. Plenty of drive time and good equipment. Highly recommend them.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend these guys if you want to get your CDL. I passed the State test in one try. They are very knowledgeable about using GI Bill benefits to pay for the training. They have several training locations available plus day and night classes to choose from. There is a decent amount of material to study for the tests. But if you put in the time, these guys will help get you there.

Fantastic experience: This is a great school to attend if you are seeking to get your CDL A or any CDL. Great instructors who help you get ready for the actual test. They teach you everything you need to know on how to operate the vehicles to hooking up the trailers and everything in between. They are kind, friendly, and very knowledgeable. The office personnel is very professional and willing to help with any questions you have. If you are seeking to get you CDL of any kind this is the place to go.

Fantastic experience: I’m so glad I chose to get my training through CDS! There isn’t enough words to describe my experience with them. They give 110% of the tools for you to succeed it’s all up to you to put in the effort and get your CDL. I went to the Lakewood campus and every single instructor to include Andrew, Curtis, Darrell, Ryan and Phil just to name a few go above and beyond to help you with absolutely anything you need! If you’re thinking about getting your CDL to start your career or change career’s this is the school to go through! I had an interview with a company the 2nd week I was in class and told them where I was going and they offered to pay for my hazmat class and a position just because I was going to CDS! Im just really grateful for everyone there and my experience. I made a couple really good friends while in class and they’ll say the same thing.

Fantastic experience: CDS was very accommodating with my schedule. They are very adamant in making sure every student succeeds in acquiring a permit. As for the Instrictor I personally had: Andrew, Andrew, Andrew... Andrew was absolutely the coolest Teacher/Instructor I have had in a classroom setting. Super awesome. Super Personable. Extremely funny. Guy kept the classroom lively with a plethora of dad jokes. On the business end of things, Andrew was extremely patient with students, made sure everyone was quite literally on the same page, and ensured success! The energy, the charisma, the passion that Andrew brings is absolutely intoxicating. He made me WANT to learn! Also, CDS helps you find jobs! How to make proper resumes! How to behave during an interview! Etc. Super awesome. This experience is one of the best decisions of my life and I will forever be grateful for those that have helped me along the way. Thank you, CDS.

Fantastic experience: Tons of fun! Great instructors make it a good experience. Update: Got my CDL now and my experience with CDS school was wonderful, gonna miss my time there but at least I will still have the friends I made while I was at CDS!

Fantastic experience: Top notch experience from beginning to end. I have my CDL-A, and I am working on getting my endorsements now. The instructors there are knowledgeable, personally vested in ensuring that you will not fail, and they genuinely care about the success of their students. If you are looking to get your CDL, I highly recommend CDS. Their Lakewood Campus gets the job done. (Not taking anything away from their other campuses as I'm sure they're just as good) Just to give you an idea of how prepared CDS gets their students. On our test day there were multiple Trucking Schools present along with us at the test site. (I will not mention the other schools names but they were all there). While we (CDS students) were all High 5'ing each other and congratulating each other after one successful test after the other. Majority of the students from the other schools present were being given slips telling them to come back for a retest due to failure. IF YOU WANT TO GET YOUR COMMERCIAL DRIVERS LICENSE, CDS WILL GET YOU THERE!!!

Fantastic experience: The instructors very knowledgeable and great hands on. Show the class how to work smart and time saving. They were patient with the new people that never operated a forklift. Recommend the hands on course to those who needs a refresher class and to those that never operated a forklift. They even gave me a referral for a job. THANKS GUYS YOU ARE THE BEST.

Fantastic experience: Just got my Class A, if wasn’t for the instructors and personnel at this school it wouldn’t have been possible. This School is professional and caring of its students, all my instructors were clear and precise when teaching how to operate the vehicle. They’re experience and knowledge is blatant when they are teaching. I highly recommend this school.

Program in a whole is well organized and structured I would recommend CDS to friends or anyone looking to obtain their class A or B. Thing I liked most was their job placement and how efficiently and quickly you can obtain employment if not already employed once you have graduated.
