Negative experience: You should advise parents that can't handle instructing their child how to drive in your parking lot, without getting out and yelling at perfectly legal acting drivers, NOT TO TEACH DRIVING AT ALL!!! I teach my kids to drive like an adult and tell them how to fix their mistakes with out getting out my car and being a menace to society and yelling at others. *** perfectly inline response of deniability*** businesses who share the parking lot please take note that your law abiding customers are being attacked by customers of 911 driving school and you will lose business.

Thank you for sharing your concerns. However, we are uncertain how you expect us to advise a parent who is not an employee of our office. While we strive to foster a positive and supportive environment, we CANNOT control the actions of individuals who use the parking lot that several business share, as they are NOT under our direction or supervision. Some circumstances are simply beyond our ability to influence, and it is UNREALISTIC to expect us to control the actions of a parent. May you have a better day moving forward!

Negative experience: Extremely rude people. Sent my daughter here to do her drive. Her instructor was rude and terrible at communicating, my daughter was uncomfortable the whole time. I don’t recommend going to this location.

Dear Mr. Jerkem, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We take all reviews seriously, as they help us improve our services and address any concerns. However, after thoroughly checking our database, we were unable to find any record of you (or your daughter) being associated with our school. We hold our instructors to a high standard of professionalism and communication to ensure a comfortable and supportive environment for all students. Positive experience: Pros: Ease of online classes. You can do drives at both of the Puyallup and Graham locations as they are owned by the same people. Cons: Scheduling Drives is almost impossible as there are few spots and they fill quick during the summer. They do not tell you this when signing up as it is clear there are not enough drive spaces for the amount of students they enroll. During the school year a majority of the drives are during the school day. (Few on Saturday and little to no after school.) Clarifying emails are answered coldly and the receptionist does not listen (clearly distracted) when you call. This makes phone calls an unexpected time commitment. I do not feel like I would recommend 911 driving school; however, there are not a lot of options.

911 Driving School-Puyallup
911 Driving School-Puyallup

Hello SM, Thank you for sharing your feedback, including the pros and cons of your experience. We’re glad to hear you found the online classes convenient and appreciated the flexibility of using both our Puyallup and Graham locations. We understand that scheduling drives, especially during the busy summer months, can be challenging. This is a high-demand season for all driving schools, which is why we provide each student with a six-month window to complete their drives. Students and parents who are proactive in scheduling drives have consistently been successful in completing their courses on time. Also, our instructors do offer drives after school hours and on weekends, though these slots tend to fill quickly. Our team works extended hours to provide a range of times and accommodate as many students as possible. Regarding your experience with our email communications and phone support, we would appreciate the opportunity to look into this further. If you’re comfortable sharing your student’s name, we can review these communications to determine if any adjustments or retraining are needed. We are committed to providing responsive, friendly, and professional service to all of our students and their families. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts with us, as your feedback helps us continue to improve. ~911 Driving School

Negative experience: Until they work on their communication especially with the front desk ladies and after being called a lair from their DOL examiner Savannah, I don't recommend them. One of the front desk ladies told my daughter that you skip one of item that they test you on your final drive if she felt nervous and that was false. Savannah stated "you can say that, but nobody told your mom that" and she walked off! So, we went to the Graham location and daughter passed! Please re-educate your staffing especially with this kind of business!

Thank you for your feedback. However, we would like to respectfully address the concerns raised in your review, as they do not accurately reflect our business operations. Our school is fully staffed, and we offer flexible and convenient scheduling options for all students. Mariah Neighbors 1 year ago

Negative experience: We picked this location for our daughter’s driver education course because of the reputation for being first responder owned and run. As my husband is a firefighter and I am a teacher, we are very concerned about safety and quality education. Classes and practice drivers were fine. However, when it came to her driver examination, our experience was completely different. She didn’t even get out of the parking lot before the examiner claimed she made an illegal maneuver and the instructor brake had to be applied, resulting in no scored skills. This is completely opposite of all the feedback she received in practice drives, and completely opposite of all our time driving with her. When I spoke with the owner about it, there was no customer service, care, or concern about it. To resolve this issue, I suggested he offered a free re-test before I reviewed his company publically. His response was there would be no conversation that would change his mind and claimed that I was trying to illegally coerce him. Furthermore, the morning after our exchange, we woke up to an email stating that our daughter’s online portal password had been changed to “testelsewhere”. When we tried logging in, we found that her entire account had been deleted. I felt bullied and that I had my $70 testing fee was taken from me. My husband is appalled that this owner is conducting his business this way under the first responder name. Our daughter tested just five days later at another business, passed with flying colors, and was praised for her safe and capable driving skills. Sadly, after reading the other responses of this business owner to negative reviews, I am sure that our experience will be spun to sound as if we were at fault. This business owner is not trustworthy. We highly suggest you take your money elsewhere.

911 Driving School-Puyallup
911 Driving School-Puyallup

Hello Mariah, It is unfortunate that your daughter failed the WA State Road test. We understand how important passing the road test is for our students, and we share in their disappointment when they do not achieve the desired outcome. While we strive for success in every road test attempt, it is essential to recognize that passing the test depends on various factors, including individual performance on the day of the test and the discretion of the examining officer. As we previously discussed, all drivers make errors regardless of experience. This is no different for a 15-year-old, under stress, during their first road test attempt. Unfortunately, your daughter made a crucial error at the beginning of her road test. In correcting you slightly, your daughter was out of the parking lot when she performed a dangerous action which resulted in a score of 0. Your daughter was turning onto River Road, which is an arterial highway, when the examiner had to take control of the vehicle to prevent an accident. Our certified examiner did their job of protecting your daughter from potential injury by avoiding a collision. Now to address the other allegations you listed in your review and email dated 2/1/24: 1) After your daughter failed her road test on 1/31/24, you and your husband came into our office very upset. I spent time reviewing the failed road test with you and listened to your concerns. You made it very clear that you were unhappy with the test results and our examiner. You also told me that you would never do business with us again and would take your daughter elsewhere to test. Therefore, we simply closed your daughter’s account based on your intent to test elsewhere; we did not delete the account. 2) Fast forward to the next business day, you called our office several times demanding a return call from an owner. You also sent an email demanding a free road test and stated we had until the end of business day (2/1/24) to respond or you would submit a formal complaint to the WA Better Business Bureau and to the WA State Attorney General’s office. In your email, you further stated you would use your influence within the community (since you are an area teacher and your husband is a local first responder) to personally slander our business if we did not provide you with a free road test. Attempting to coerce or threaten our business into providing free services is not only unfair but also undermines the integrity of our operations. We take pride in the quality of work and the value we provide to our customers, and we cannot compromise on these principles. Therefore, I was very honest with you when we spoke that I would not be able to provide a free road test or issue a refund. 3) Finally, you stated in your email that our examiner was a “very young tester who likely is not a ‘first responder’, experienced driver, due to her age”. The examiner you attacked is a veteran who proudly served our country with distinction and honor. In addition, this examiner was Military Police while in the Armed Forces. I want to make it unequivocally clear that discrimination of any kind, including age discrimination, is entirely unacceptable and goes against the values and principles of our business. We are committed to fostering an inclusive and respectful environment where all individuals are treated with dignity and fairness, regardless of their age or any other characteristic. [This examiner was required to complete over 120 training hours and sit for multiple WA State tests prior to becoming a licensed examiner; and has been re-certified each year of their employment with our business.] We have always been committed to finding solutions that are mutually beneficial and within the framework of our business policies. However, coercion and threats are not constructive means of addressing concerns or resolving issues. ~Kevin K., Owner

Adley Shepherd 1 year ago

Negative experience: Take your money and child and go elsewhere. The owners are greedy little people.

911 Driving School-Puyallup
911 Driving School-Puyallup

Dear Mr. Shepherd, As we discussed during our phone conversation on 1/30/24, the situation that recently transpired would’ve been avoided if a phone call was made to our office and policies followed. Clearly your statement of us being “greedy little people” is solely based on the fact we will not waive a $50 cancellation drive fee. Unfortunately, you made a choice not to follow policy and provide more than 24 hours notice to cancel your student’s drive when you knew 6 days prior to the appointment that your student would not be able to drive due to an injury they sustained. Instead, you expected our instructor to conduct a driving lesson with your student on crutches and not able to place any weight on their leg. Our small business has waived many cancellation fees for students due to illnesses, family emergencies, and medical emergencies. We were willing to waive this cancellation fee up until you told us this injury took place 6 days prior to the driving lesson, and then proceeded to disrespect our office staff. Our small business believes in treating others with respect even when there might be disagreements. How you handled yourself in our office and over several phone conversations have been very interesting. With that said, we were completely shocked that you came into our office today (2/1/24) requesting a course extension to continue doing business with us. Definitely an interesting turn of events from prior conversations and reviews you have posted. Nonetheless, we look forward to working with you in the near future and ultimately helping your student be a successful, safe driver for life. ~911 Driving School~

Eliana Franklin 2 years ago

Negative experience: The educational material was quite helpful and interesting, but the teacher was not very receptive or kind to those trying to learn. He often ridiculed us for not knowing what we “should have” but the whole reason we are in drivers ed is to learn what we don’t know, so it was quite aggravating to often hear that we “should know” something that we obviously are in the class to LEARN. It was often a big turn off when our teacher would talk about how bad we are, or why we are such bad drivers or the problem with drivers on the roads. Often, I learned more when we were being taught by substitutes, especially Jenn, she taught in a kind, firm, understanding manner. All in all, it was a good educational experience but not a good learning experience. Thanks :)

Negative experience: I have two teens who went through this program back to back. First, my oldest. She did fine with the class work and soared through, as she tends to do. However, the insane drive schedule has d her not complete all her drives, which didn’t matter since she was over 18 and she and I both felt she was ready for the test. Two things happened: 1. The instructor berated and belittled her while taking her test to get her license by saying, “Why are you taking this test, you aren’t even ready.” Which devastated her. I literally had to pry her off the ground crying. 2. My youngest was now enrolled and struggling a little bit so I asked if he could have her extra 2 drives she didn’t do. I was told no to transferring drives to siblings and we had to pay an additional $75 for drive test #2 that she passed with a 95% - a different instructor. Then more things happened…. I went in to the school to ask for printed copies of the materials covered on line -my youngest learns better with the information in his hand. I was told that the owner had to be asked first - to which we never received a reply. This organization continued to ignore critical issues and didn’t assist my child in passing. They only want your money and don’t care about your kid. Go across the street to 1st Avenue Driving School where it costs less, they are more organized and have better communication. I had to go to a different school and start over for my kid after already paying 9-1-1 and completing everything except for one drive. 9-1-1 wanted my child to reenroll after he completed the course, minus one drive. Pay full tuition again AND pay the full fee again, AND take every test again. Don’t waste your money on 9-1-1 Driving School.

Hello Jessie, According to our records for your 2 students, we have copious amount of detailed notes regarding our interactions when your students attended our driver’s education courses back in May 2022 and June 2022. To begin with, your daughter started her driver’s education course on 5/10/22. According to our notes, on 8/23/22, you came into our office informing us that your daughter did not want to complete her course and wanted to move forward with the state testing to obtain her driver’s license. We reviewed with you what that meant if she decided not to finish her course. As you mentioned, your daughter was 18 years old and it was her choice to not complete her remaining 2 drives. Your daughter moved forward and scheduled her state testing—we did not charge her for taking the knowledge test, however, we did charge the standard $70 fee for the road test. Although we cannot speak to the allegations of what you claim was said to your daughter by our examiner; we do find it appalling if those words “why are you taking this test, you aren’t even ready” would even be mentioned by our examiner. It is our goal to provide great customer service to everyone and our examiners are highly trained and professional. The accusation in your review is very much out of character for the examiner that your daughter had for her road test. Since her road test was back on 10/5/22, it makes it difficult to determine what actually happened since it is now 10 months later. As for your son, he began his course on 5/25/22 and you agreed to our policies on 6/2/22 which state all course items must be completed by the 6-month deadline. Again, according to our notes, when you were in our office on 8/23/22, you also spoke with us about your son needing additional material to study since he was having a hard time taking notes and struggling with passing the class tests. According to our notes, our office staff DID PROVIDE you print outs of our class information and you took that with you when you left the office. Then on 12/5/22, we sent you an email about your son’s approaching course deadline and outlined what needed to be completed by 12/25/22. Your son only needed to complete 1 drive and retake/pass his class tests. We never heard from you. According to our notes, the owner instructed our office staff to reach out to you AFTER the course deadline to see what we could do to help get his drive completed so he could receive his course completion. We called and left messages for you on 12/28/22 and 12/29/22 asking for a return phone call so we could keep his account active. You never contacted our office until 1/6/23. By this date, it was 2 weeks past the course deadline and the account was deactivated due to no contact on your part. According to our notes, you then called back on 1/23/23 asking us to allow your son to complete the course. During this conversation you specifically took responsibility for not making contact with us back in December and we discussed the cost to re-enroll (which is NOT the full tuition amount—students are always given a discount to re-enroll). Once you heard we could not move forward with the current course, you became very hostile and threatened us with writing negative reviews and blasting our small business on social media. We wish you the best of luck. ~911 Driving School

Negative experience: Terrible, the drivers Ed instructor kept bringing up his war trauma in class, super unprofessional, very inappropriate behavior for a teacher. You'd be better off setting up ur kid with practice tests and YouTube videos.

Thank you for the feedback. It is our goal to provide exceptional instruction for our driver's education courses. We wish you had called our office to discuss your complaint during the course so we could've monitored the situation. We do spot-checks and review class recordings to ensure the course curriculum is being taught to our students. We have yet to find recordings of what you described above. We will reach out to your class instructor to review your complaint. We wish your student the best as they continue their driving education.

Positive experience: My overall experience at 911 driving school in Puyallup has been good but I feel like they should’ve been more specific, about their rules and regulations with drives. I thought five hours of drive means they’re going to teach you for five hours. I feel like they should have an option with adults to teach them driving more than the classroom time. They should also warn people if they do not have a car to practice with do not take this course until you have a car.

Hello Myleah, thank you for the feedback regarding your experience with our driving school. According to your account, you enrolled into a teen driving course which comes with 15 class sessions, 5 behind the wheel drives and 2 attempts at the WA State Knowledge exam. Please note, we do offer an adult drive package which provides driving only as you mentioned in your review but you signed up for the teen package. Per our policies and procedures (which you accepted on 2/24/23), it clearly states our course curriculum and what to expect for the course. In addition, on your day 1 class, your instructor reviewed driving expectations at home in-between the drives you complete at our driving school. One of the statements in our policy packet which you agreed to states: "I am a student taking this Traffic Safety Education program. I have read and understood the course requirements. I further agree to practice driving at home whenever possible." By accepting our policies on 2/24/23, you agreed to practice driving at home in-between your drives with us. Our driving curriculum can be difficult to accomplish with no practice at home. However, with that being said, our instructors are able to work with students at their skill level. We always caution students that 5 behind the wheel drives with our instructors will not make them a proficient driver. However, skills can be learned and practiced at home. Learning to drive a vehicle takes time; unfortunately, you don't become a skilled driver overnight. It requires many hours of practice. It is our hope you have been able to learn skills with our instructors and implement it at home with practice. We wish you the best as you continue your course with us and move on to take the state tests.
