Our comment from DrivingSchools.Directory about Boston Driver's Ed - Driving School:
Boston Driver's Ed - Driving School has garnered a mix of feedback from its students, highlighting both its strengths and weaknesses. Strengths include:
- Many instructors, such as John and Alex, are praised for their patience, excellent teaching skills, and ability to help students build confidence behind the wheel.
- Students have reported successful outcomes, with several passing their road tests on the first attempt after taking lessons here.
- The school offers personalized and accommodating service, which some students found helpful in their driving journey.
- Positive reviews emphasize the supportive atmosphere created by the instructors, making learning to drive a more enjoyable experience.
However, there are significant concerns that cannot be overlooked:
- Several reviewers have reported chronic issues with poor communication, mentioning unresponsive phone lines, unanswered emails, and last-minute cancellations.
- There are numerous complaints about missed lessons, with some parents noting that their children were left waiting without any contact from the school.
- A consistent theme of disappointment stems from difficulties in rescheduling road tests and a lack of professionalism in handling student inquiries.
- Some users expressed frustration with the administration's organization, suggesting that more staff could improve client interactions and service efficiency.
Despite the excellent instructional qualities noted by several students, potential customers should consider the mixed reviews regarding communication and reliability before enrolling.
Boston Driver's Ed - Driving School: Reviews
Negative experience: Would give it 0 if possible 3 lessons where no show 0 communication Not answering phone Lied about reimbursement Still owes my money Stay away!!!!
Negative experience: Horrible!!! Horrible!!!The office in Waltham is closing down, and we still have some lessons remaining. They missed many lessons when my daughter was scheduled, without any phone calls or message responses. It’s just been a horrible experience with this Boston driving school. We’ve already paid, but now we don’t know what to do about the remaining lessons. It's a nightmare dealing with them
Negative experience: If I could give 0 stars I would. Signed my daughter up for a package deal of over 700 dollars and can't sign my daughter up for road lessons. Someone needs to shut them down for taking money and not delivering services.
Negative experience: If I could give negative stars I would. This place is a complete joke. They come off super nice at first and then the communication breakdown begins. They don't answer emails or phone calls, I had to drive over there and confront them. I once called and when I FINALLY got John on the phone he told me to call him right back. I told him I didn't want to b/c it had taken me so long to get a hold of him and he promised he would answer. When I called the same phone number back in 5 minutes- THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A PIZZA SHOP. I'm not kidding. Spend your hard earned teen's money somewhere even remotely more professional.
Negative experience: Awful experience trying to schedule driving lessons. They took our money only to not show up for the scheduled lesson and to not respond to any of our phone calls. This is likely a scam business. Buyer beware!
Negative experience: I wish 0 stars were an option. Sham of a driving school! Stay away! Phone calls go unanswered and you will be shooed away when stopping by for answers.
Negative experience: I should believe in other reviewers, new customers, you should have very much lucky https://www.boston25news.com/news/25-investigates/25-investigates-victim-gets-no-response-waltham-driving-school-after-paying-sons-classes/CBOEKDLZQVCHXBUFUD6ZNVGCTY/
Positive experience: I would like to make this review as objective as possible, highlighting the good and the bad. The good: the instructors are amazing. I had 95% of my classes with Alex and he was almost solely responsible for a 37 year old who had a fear of driving finally getting her driver's license. Overall, all instructors have excellent teaching skills and are very thorough in their explanations. You're guaranteed to learn to drive with them, no matter the level you're at or how afraid you are of doing it. The bad: My experience buying the initial driving package and scheduling driver's ed and subsequent driving lessons was pretty smooth. However, after I was done with lessons it took me a couple of months to feel confident enough to book the road test. When I did, I was given a date for the mock test and one for the road test over the phone. As the days went by I would get no confirmation of the road test, so I kept calling to confirm the date. Not only was it extremely difficult to get someone on the phone, but the other problem is that on 4 different ocassions I was ASSURED that my road test date was set for the time we discussed. The day before the date I was still not getting any info about the test so I called and ONCE AGAIN I was confirmed for the next day, but literally a few minutes later I got a text saying "Actually, you're not scheduled for tomorrow, you're scheduled in a week". I understand that these things might be subject to change, but the lack of professional communication baffles me, even as I'm writing this. I received that message without any apology for the inconvenience and without anyone asking if the new date was okay for me. I was infuriated by this because it feels disrespectful to people's time to just move the dates suddently without considering how people manage their time, or what arrangements they have to make to be available on a date. Not all of us are teenagers with all the time available in our hands. I also had an incident where I had been given a date for a class and I showed up but the class hadn't actually been booked for it. In essence, the admin is really poor and it really is a shame because the teaching is excellent. I really hope this gets improved in some way in the future, although judging by all the reviews I'm not really sure. TLDR: Excellent instructors, good price, defficient admin and communication with the customers.
Fantastic experience: John and Alex helped me with my road test sponsorship and practice test. They were so encouraging and helped me stay calm, cool, and collected! I was able to pass on the first time! Thank you so much! 10/10 would recommend!
Fantastic experience: My husband Manuel just passed his road test today! John is a great and an amazing teacher. He has lots of patience and is very knowledgeable! Thank you sooooooo much!
Fantastic experience: John, zee and his entire staff, were very knowledgeable, deatil oriented through my daughters entire process, they went an extra mile picking her up when transportation was not on our side. My daughter had a great experience since day 1 and passed her driving test today on her first try. Thank you again, Boston Driving School!!! Thank you again, John for making the extra mile in holding our place while we went to get the document squared away. You will not regreat giving, Boston Driving School, a try!!!!5 stars!!!
Negative experience: If a zero was possible, that is what this company deserves. Very unprofessional canceling last minute. Spare yourself the headache and book with another company.
Negative experience: beyond unprofessional waste of time and money DO NOT GO HERE unless u want to waste their communication skills suck .
Negative experience: We have been calling for 2 weeks, we already paid for my husband driving exam and we haven't received any confirmation for the date/hour of it. We have been trying to call them for 2 weeks leav voicemail messages, emails, and nothing. It really is a bad service. We hope there's a good reason for this latitance.
Negative experience: It is a scam. A complete scam. I asked for a refund the day after I had made the purchase just because i realised that is not where i wanted to do my drivers Ed.(mind you this as all in November,2023 it is now march 2024) He never gave me my money back. He is a complete scam and will never answer to the emails and after calling many times to check my refund status he blocked the number. And stopped answering. Do not waste your time with this business. He is irresponsible and honestly I don’t know why they’re still open.
Negative experience: This So called driving school took my sons $650 to get driving classes , but instead , the man took his money , ignored calls for a refund etc. I called Solve it 7 . Still no classes and he keeps avoiding refunding him. Do not trust this school and if it’s happened to you , please notify Solve it 7 asap
Fantastic experience: I reached out to ED Driving School due to scheduling issues, needing timely lessons. John was exceptionally professional and accommodating. Thanks to the office and staff's support, I passed both tests on my first attempt. Grateful for your assistance – thank you! I highly recommend at Driving School
Negative experience: This company fails do answer phone calls, emails and updating registry !
Fantastic experience: Every instructor is very helpful and understanding, I am a new driver and they were super patient. I learned so much from each one of the instructors, specially John and Z. John is very professional and kind, he walks you through the whole process of getting the learner permit to when you get your license. I definitely recommend this school for older and younger students.
Fantastic experience: I had an extremely limited timeframe to get a license, and John went above and beyond in order to help make that happen. He was able to schedule a road test for me in a matter of days, drove to Taunton, and helped talk me through a test I was extremely nervous about (we all worry we are going to forget the one small detail when we take our road test that will fail us; like not using our blind spot, blanking on a question we know the answer to, or another small detail that causes our nerves to get the better of us). His relationship with the RMV staff and specifically the examiner- was instrumental in getting my license. I honestly couldn’t have done it (and wouldn’t have gotten my license) without him.
Fantastic experience: Great experience, very good instructor who knows his stuff
Fantastic experience: Finally gonna right a review since I genuinely feel I learned from this school. Zee has to be one of the best driving instructors you can get. He’s chill and always makes sure that YOU are comfortable while driving. There’s also an old man that’s there I forget his name but he also another one you should pick. I would troop it from Roxbury, thats how good of a driving school it was.
Negative experience: do not be fooled by the low price, this is a scam. horrible service, I rescheduled with John he provided me with the new dates but never followed up or send an email with the zoom invitation. I got him on the phone once after 4 attempts and emails as well, he promised to email us before the end of the day. It was sent received has failed to respond to calls, voicemails and emails. DO NOT RECOMMED AT ALL
Hello Josephine. I called your number 781 -715-9152 and left messages. I also sent Maria Garcia (your daughter) the link to the ZOOM Classroom. Whether or not she shared this information with you is another story. The email that we used for her was [email protected]
Negative experience: I had an experience with this driving school, and unfortunately, it wasn't a positive one. They consistently failed to return my calls and never rescheduled appointments they missed. This lack of communication and professionalism was quite frustrating. Therefore, I do not recommend this school to anyone.
Fantastic experience: i can’t found someone to sponsor me on the road test but this school will sponsor you and teach you the must known techniques. I’m very appreciated that i got my driver’s license
Fantastic experience: Very good. I've passed the road test here. Thank you.
Fantastic experience: Excellent driving school. John has gone above and beyond and has provided personalized and flexible service to my daughter in a unique situation. Highly recommend.
Negative experience: This is a scam. Do not trust this guy. Very sketchy, lied to me about booking a test in the date I wanted, chased him all month for confirmation which he never sent. Eventually the day before the exam he sends a test booking for a different date, in a very remote test center which doesn't even show up when I log into myRMV. This is a scam, I am confident that all the good reviews here are fake.
Dr Jad (as you demanded to be addressed when speaking to you) Feel free to stop by an RMV branch and speak with an examiner! They will explain that when a driving school requests a road test for Saturday, it's called Alternate Road Test and will NOT show on your profile!!! Scam? Ok. Let's also mention that you came unprepared for your scheduled lesson the first time. So I graciously rescheduled another one FREE of charge! We also have front, rear and interior video of the vehicle you did your lesson with the RMV Licensed Instructor. Footage clearly shows your unpreparedness to adequately pass a road test if you would do the exam today or tomorrow without taking further structured lessons with an instructor.
Negative experience: Me and my mom have been going back and forth and with John. He continuously told us he was going to schedule with the RMV for the driving test and never did. We had the test pushed back over 3 times. He is very immature and unprofessional. He never confirmed any RMV dates with us and continued to tell us to wait. He had no problem telling my mom to find another driving school but couldn’t fulfill the services she had originally paid for. 1 out of 5 stars. Terrible experience! Never Again ! Update: I booked with another driving school and in doing so they informed me that the RMV had to bump my test again because the driving school never entered or approved my driving hours. I was with the school for 5+ months so I don’t understand why my hours were not already entered. My mother also paid for me to do more classes so I have exceeded the necessary 30 hour requirement with the school. Now John is not responding to any emails, calls or messages from my mother. This situation has affected me the most and I am absolutely disappointed with the unprofessional nature of this school and John as well. We didn’t ask for a refund but if I can’t get in contact with him that might be something I look into.
Negative experience: Never would answer any emails that I would send. Very disappointing
Negative experience: Parents be EXTREMELY WARY… John and team failed to show up for our son’s driving lesson. Thereafter they failed to respond to our phone calls and email messages. When I showed up in person for reimbursement there’s no one at the office. Ultimately we are having to pay elsewhere for our son’s driving lessons. We will be taking John to a small claims court for reimbursement for services not rendered.
Fantastic experience: Well all business are different like humans been, someone's opinion doesn't mean the rest of the world opinions, maybe if you express your disagreement completely and bring to the table what you expected, what you get and did you tried to conciliatory talking with the school?
Negative experience: I do not recommend the service and the service is horrible and has no education.
Hi Andreia. Thanks for your feedback! I'm pretty sure you just called me. You asked if I spoke Portuguese. I explained, I did not speak Portuguese. You kept kept speaking in a foreign language. I explained again I did not speak the language you are talking. But you kept speaking. I politely said farewell and terminated the conversation. Good luck on your search for the services you are looking for. ~John
Fantastic experience: John Baez who is managing this school is really a super nice guy and supported me through out the process. The instructor zee (Z) was very clear and professional, the driving lessons went very smoothly as well. My instructor made the skills test jitters disappear with calm and steady instruction. I would recommend this school to everyone who is seeking to get their driving license here in Massachusetts. Thank you all! I’m so glad I found your school, I am a US licensed driver again, woo hoo!!
Negative experience: Parents beware of Boston Driver's Ed on Main Street in Waltham!! Do not use this school go anywhere else. They do not show up to pick up your child when scheduled and when you call to find out what happen they hang up on you. I am going to the better business bureau this school needs to be shut down. The owner John is a complete joke!!! He also tried to hit on me when I went in there to schedule my son's driving times. So unprofessional and sleazy. Just before hitting on me he told me he had to let one of his driver's go for them inappropriately texting with one of the teen age girl students. Do not trust your children to this school or man.
Negative experience: I enrolled for 3 classes I had one the second time I was told instructor lost grand mother. Third lesson I was told I had no instructor unless I wait a month. I had to ask for a refund which was a horrible experience. Please take on students after ascertaining you have instructor at hand. Very bad experience and time wasting.
Negative experience: Total joke. No clear communication, John will not respond or answer the phone despite requiring you to call to schedule. The testing center would not text me because they could not verify how I got to the test (despite having taken an Uber) essentially I paid for a sponsor but needed to have someone vouch for me anyway? Makes no sense.
Hi Laura. Thanks for the review. You took 2 exams with us. The first time you showed up and did NOT bring your Learner’s Permit! Every applicant must have the actual permit for testing. The 2nd test, you came driving a black suv and the examiner saw you driving alone in the car. So... This is why he automatically failed you for violation of State Law. - John
Negative experience: Stole my money. I tried confirming a time several times and finally Jon got back after months of calling and said I was scheduled for a Saturday test. I showed up at 6:30 am after getting up at 4:30 am and he sends an email saying I’m confirmed for the next week. Which I never agreed to or could make. I finally got ahold of him and he said he didn’t get the time confirmation email from the dmv until the night before- he could have emailed everyone saying there was no test that day so we didn’t get up so early and drive down there. And then he was rude and said he would take me off the list and hung up on me. Now he refuses to give me my $160 back that I paid him in July for a test that didn’t happen. Calling my credit card because he won’t answer. Fraudulent and unethical.
Negative experience: Communication with this school super hard to get by, I try to call every morning to reschedule my road test sponsorship but I never got an answer, especially after paying the $160 fee, and ended up not being able to take it because events came up. The first time, I paid for my lessons and did them with Jay and Z, they were very nice, professional and helped me wondrously with my driving. So they got very professional instructors, but they need someone to run the office more responsibly.
Positive experience: Z is a wonderful instructor but Bethany is the worse. She kept rushing me and insisting on driving while I watch.
Negative experience: This driving school is a joke. They never pick up the phone. I call in the morning because they say that's the best time to call them and they never answer. One time I called, they picked up, and the man on the phone said to call him back at 10 30 when he's at the office. I called back 3 times at 10 30 and he never answered. Another issue is scheduling. I've scheduled lessons with the owner and he prints out the time and tells me the time of the lesson. Twice, when I went to the school for my lesson so I could get picked up and drive, they didn't show up. Then I called the driver themselves and they state that they never were told by the owner/scheduler that I had a lesson that day. If I could, I would have never chose this driving school. Even though it's on the cheaper side, I would go somewhere else and pay another 100-200 dollars.
Negative experience: Do not use this school. Horrible communication. My daughter passed but only because you have to pay $150.00 cash when you take the test and you don’t test locally. Her test was in Brockton at 8:00AM on a Saturday. They would not tell us when it was scheduled until 2 days before. The test was not on the actual road but in a parking lot at the Registry. Seems suspicious to me.
Congratulations on passing the road test your first time around! =). Your daughter took the road test on SATURDAY! The RMV charges the driving school overtime to pay the examiner to come out and do the road test on alternate business hours. You also used our car, we sent documentation to the registry to get her approved and do a road test within 2 weeks and one of our instructors sat in the back as your sponsor. You're welcome! :D
Negative experience: Worst costumer service ever. We went in person and they would not be there and when we would call and go in when they told us to, they wouldn’t be there either. When John Baez finally reached back i went to get a refund and he was all snarky. He also deleted that I did the 30 hours of classroom off of my RMV profile , even if I got a review I got a refund because YOUR company is horrible and many reviews agree. No need to reply to this review all rude like you did to other 1 star reviews , and even if u give yourself a 5 stars it wont increase anything if you’re communication is off.
Negative experience: HORRIBLE AND UNRELIABLE SERVICE. If I could give zero stars, I would. I spent months trying to schedule my lessons and driver’s test but could never get through to them with my own number. However, whenever I called them with an unknown number, they picked up immediately. John was super rude over the phone and told me to “never call with an unknown number”, which indicates that they clearly have a strategy set in place where they don’t pick up the phone from clients so that they can get the money without actually giving the service.
Hi Joyce. Hope you are doing well. Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review. You emailed, I replied. You called, I picked up the phone. When you asked for a driving lesson, I scheduled it. Whether you choose to cancel on the driver last minute? This is your choice. =). You ask for a road test and NOT bring your Learner's Permit to the exam? Again, your choice... The RMV Examiner needs the actual permit. I had one printed for you (just in case you forget to bring it). You fail the road test because you lacked skill and forgot to put on your seat belt? Again, YOUR choice. Please call me (using your actual number) and I'll gladly speak with you. Telemarketers are BLOCKING their numbers for scamming and I do NOT answer blocked numbers. Your number is PRIVATE? I will respect your privacy and not answer. :D ~John
Negative experience: Worst company ever. He never picks up the phone, canceled one appointment the evening before the road test after having waited few weeks already. Then sent a text to have the road test the next week, showed up and they were "gone", HOW?!?! They don't tell you anything, no communication whatsoever. DONT BOOK HERE! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.
Hi Laura, I looked up your information and did not find any record under "Laura Chavez". If I recall correctly, this exam was for your husband/boyfriend - Juankarlos? He did have a lesson. You guys were notified that the road test was Braintree RMV at 7am. You showed up at 9am. This is why you claim no one was there. =) A text was sent out and he replied "CONFIRMED" to the information specifying the date and time of the exam. Feel free to reach out to me and I will gladly book another exam for you. ~John
Negative experience: Nobody ever picks up the phone, not in the morning, not in the afternoon. Emails are never responded to, and they'll gladly take money for lessons or bookings that never happened. Tried booking a Saturday road test on a date with an open slot - first over the phone, no dice. Called numerous times and always went to voicemail and never got any callbacks. Then emailed the official contact to try and set up an appointment. Nothing. Finally thought maybe I need to place an order online and select the date then. Order went through but still nothing about picking a date and time. Great, so I moved on to better things. Fast forward 2 weeks and a charge appears on my credit card! For an appointment that never happened without a date or time! Unbelievable. Had to contact my credit card company to file a chargeback. This place is a sham.
Negative experience: I paid for 1 hour driving lesson and road test. I completed my lesson, but no one is picking up the call for road test booking.
Positive experience: Some difficulties with scheduling and rescheduling but the instructors made it all worth it. Make sure you ask for either Jay or Z as your instructors - both are phenomenal and prepared me very well for my exam. I was able to pass on my first try (I’m an adult driver and had only driven for 2 months).
Negative experience: 0/5 experience. Worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. Completely unprofessional. First and foremost, I was put in a car with an instructor who was clearly under the influence of marijuana. This alone warrants this place being reported to the government. Secondly, scheduling is terrible. John agreed one time with me on the phone and then gave his drivers another time. This happened three times (out of 4 lessons total). My test was supposed to be tomorrow, 4/16 and John calls last second to cancel. He never put me in for 4/16 in the first place and did not have the decency to tell me this earlier. When I expressed my dissatisfaction on the phone with John, instead of accepting his fault he just says that he does not want me as a customer and will give me a refund. Given what other people say in this review section, I will be lucky to see this refund. I will report this company to the mass government, it needs to be shut down.
Negative experience: Where do I start? First it's not in Boston, second it is extremely unprofessional and third they flat out lie. After waiting over two months to do the parent course and after repeated attempts at booking driving lessons over the course of three months, I was fed up. Don't waste your money. Also, they DO NOT open at seven as stated even when you have an appointment on the day (apparently they don't know how to manage Boston traffic). Lastly, I was assured by Mr. Baez that my charge would be reimbursed (with subtle threats and all) but they were either too lazy or extremely irresponsible so I had to go through my card. Like I said, very unprofessional.
Negative experience: DO NOT CHOOSE THIS SCHOOL!! If I could choose zero stars, I would. I bought a road test sponsorship package and a one-hour training session. I went there, and the office was closed. I called them several times to reach someone out. Nobody picked up the phone. I called them the next day and asked them to cancel the road test and refund me. The person on the phone was so rude. He didn't even apologize for that and hung up on me! They are so rude. I have my doubts that all these positive reviews are real! PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY ON THIS COMPANY!!!
Negative experience: One star for the person who answers the phone because he is obviously very rude and unprofessional. I dropped this choice immediately.
Positive experience: The driving instructors are great, very patient and helpful. The only reason this isn't a five star review is their communication is not great you need to send several follow up emails before you get a response. But overall I'd still recommend them as instructors.
Negative experience: Stay away from this company! My son and I sent them many emails, left voice messages even tried to reach them via their web site’s contact us page for a 3 week period. They did not respond any of them. I figured out this is a scam and disputed the transaction. Only at that time they replied one of the emails my son sent saying they informed RMV that the classes he took are no longer valid. We even tried to contact them after this email but they never responded to that email either. They made my son to loose 30 hours of classroom time and he didn’t deserve this. They are terrible. I am writing this so none of other parents be in this situation. Don’t decide looking at the other feedbacks as I did.
Hi Nevin Belir. Thank you for reaching out to us. Your emails were responded to. Your check had insufficient funds. The RMV was notified and the classroom your son did was revoked due to many attempts from us for the compensation of the virtual classroom he took. I wish him well in the future. - John
Fantastic experience: I had great experience with this school. They have great instructors who not only prepare you for the test but also teach you how to drive safely. Thanks to them, I passed my test.
Negative experience: AVOID THIS SCHOOL IF YOU CAN. Paid for road test sponsorship & practice exam package. My sponsor picked me up late. The car I drove to the RMV in is not the same car I drove for my test. The sponsor switched out the car I drove to the RMV in (for my 530AM practice exam; test at 7AM) for a different car (one I had not driven prior to test) last minute due to his employee showing up late for another customer. The other customer then drove the aforementioned vehicle for their road test, the same vehicle we both drove for our practice exams that morning. We did not go over every step, as advertised, on the website - parking on a hill, 3 point turn, parallel parking, etc. Additionally, this individual does not pick up the phone (full mailbox, cannot leave a message) nor do they respond to email communication past their response to ask for a pdf photo of your permit to send to the RMV. All in all, you will absolutely want to take your business elsewhere. This school will hinder you before it will help you. 0/5 stars
Negative experience: Don't bother booking with them. I bought a package of 10 hours a while back and I was only able to use 2 of those hours on a lesson. After that, they never responded to any of my phone calls or emails. If I could give zero stars, I would. I have my doubts that all these positive reviews are real.
Negative experience: Went to an appointment scheduled for over a week and the instructor was half an hour late and I had to reschedule as I had a prior engagement. I WAS NOT GIVEN ANY INSTRUCTIONS AT ALL. I had to have an emergency cancellation they charged me because it wasn't 24 hour notice. If my first lesson was on time I wouldn't have had to make another appointment to lose the money. Do not recommend.
Hi Briahna. Thanks for taking the time to comment. The instructor was 15 minutes late for your initial lesson BUT he gave you 60 minutes of instruction nonetheless. You called and canceled less than an hour of your other lesson. Unfortunately, we have written policies in place that clearly states our cancelation and no-call no-show policy. Please feel free to give me a call to further assist you. ~John
Fantastic experience: The entire service is amazing, especially talking about the staff. They are really helpful. This place is highly recommended if you want to learn driving.
Fantastic experience: I’m 24 years old first time driver who is so nervous to finally take driving classes and driving test. John was so kind, cooperative, and welcoming instructor. He made me comfortable while driving and I’m grateful to him for this. GREAT PLACE!!
Fantastic experience: Flawless experience!! I took their 2-hour driving class+ road test package. I got Alex as an instructor. He is an experienced driver and taught me everything in a friendly way. They also made me feel home at driving classes. I would highly recommend this driving school.
Fantastic experience: Great, great just great!! I loved how welcoming and knowledgeable they are this school. They know exactly what they are doing. Also their customer service is exceptional.
Negative experience: The drivers ed course was great, but there was severe lack of communication, and the owner kept putting off the next stages. I started it in the summer of 2021 and made it clear I really needed to take the test before college started in late August. Weeks later he scheduled me for it in early September and I couldn't make it to the road test. Now I'm registering a car and he didn't report anything to the RMV about me taking the classes so I don't get a break on my insurance. It was a waste of money
Fantastic experience: This is one of the place which actually delivers 100% quality to the students. I was so scared at first because I earlier enrolled myself in another driving school and failed miserably there. But this place is just amazing!
Fantastic experience: I had a great experience of learning with them. The teacher was very patient while teaching even when I made mistakes. Loved it.
Negative experience: The school is ran by one guy who clearly doesn't know what he's doing and never gets back to people in a timely manner. His scheduling system for lessons is a total mess and very disorganized. The dude can't even hire at least a few other people to take phone calls and deal with customers and he definitely has the money to pay people but chooses not to do it. Most of the time you have to wait weeks or even months to get driving hours. Overall - steer clear of this school as it is not worth the money. Absolutely atrocious business that's being run here.
Hi Moses Davis. Thanks for taking the time to give us a review. Reviews (positive or negative) helps us with the feedback from our previous students. It was fun teaching you the fundamentals of driving. Your driving hours were purposely staggered because RMV Policy if "you must drive with a parent/guardian at least 40 hours". When you finally qualified for a road test, we helped you book 3 exams and you failed ALL (3 Feb, 9 Feb 27 and March 9), Marchbecause you were NOT driving at home!! During one of your road test, you even told the RMV Examiner that your mom didn't want you to get a license. I realize you are upset but you really need to be more transparent as you leave reviews. Again, it was fun teaching you the fundamentals of driving and wish you the best for the future. Stay safe, Stay healthy... ~John
Negative experience: Absolute scam of a business. You pay online for the lessons that you want to choose but then the owner will never reach out back to you. I tried calling him and instead of giving any answer, he said he is busy and hang up. After that I was unable to reach him at all, it would always go to voicemail. To get my money back I had to file a claim with my bank. Horrible customer service, I am shocked that this type of scam is still in business.
Negative experience: I wish google has 0 star review tab or report business tab so that I might have selected that. I had absolutely worst experience dealing with this school, I am might not sure if this is because of pandemic or just is how they are deal with their customer and students. I made online 6 hours lesson booking back in Jan 2020 and then I tried reaching out to them to schedule lessons but I got reply that call us, last year I tried calling them several times before pandemic hits and response was very poor. After pandemic when everything started opening back I called them again pretty much every week, no one respond till Sep and I requested them refund which they assure to process but since Sep 2020 I am trying to get hang of someone from there office but they don't reply emails neither phone calls (well there voice mail is always full so you can't even leave them a message). At this point I am so frustrated that I am going to report them to CfBp and BBB. T
Negative experience: I booked a 3 hours session on the website paid in full . i never got any information about my classes and anytime i went to the office there was no one . I emailed and call them but unfortunately no answer . I cant say it’s a bad driving school because i never actually had a session with them but as far as communication with client its really bad . If any of the members of this company are seeing this review please reach out to me !!
Fantastic experience: I give him 5 stars, for his responsibility, honesty, Commitment and dedication, in the first Test pass Road Test. Thanks Boston Driver's school,Thanks to john and his team.
Negative experience: In my 10 days of driving class, I did not get the lessons on parallel parking and I remember you teach me 3 point in my last day of class and when you go for road test they start straight with parallel parking, if you offer a complete package please make sure you include everything.
Hi Srijana Thapa - Thanks for the review. You took a road test with us this past weekend and didn't pass. Your last lesson with us was on Thursday, October 29, 2020⋅8:00 – 9:00am. When you reached out to me for a road test, I suggested taking a lesson (refresher) to be better prepared. Please contact us and I will personally assist you. Thanks! ~John
Negative experience: If I could put ZERO STARS I WOULD! ITS A SCAM , they scheduled my road test somewhere else that isn’t connected to Boston drivers Ed , I paid $138 for my road test through Boston Drivers Ed and still had to pay $100 when I got to a different driving school all the way in Norwood. I tried getting my money back and I still haven’t received a response I had to call my bank so they could refund my money. Not to mention when I went to a driving school in Norwood that has no connection to Boston Drivers Ed , apparently the sponsors nor the state police never heard of the place .
Fantastic experience: Highly recommended! John makes the classes enjoyable and cares about his students' success! They are transparent from the prices to expectations, thank you so much Boston Driver's Ed!
Fantastic experience: I took the weekend driving test through Boston Driver’s Ed, the booking process and pre-test communication was seamless. After passing the driving test and through no fault of Boston Driver’s Ed, my license information was not updated at the RMV. I tried contacting the RMV multiple times, and reached-out to John for advice. John answered my every call, and went out of his way to help sort the issues with my profile. They went above and beyond to help me out. I highly recommend Boston’s Driver’s Ed.
Fantastic experience: Very good organization. I had Z for an instructor who was patient, knowledgeable and very experienced.
Fantastic experience: John is a great instructor, accomadative and encouraging! I had very good driving lessons and a stress-free road test, he provides great tips!
Fantastic experience: After having nightmare experiences with a handful of other driving schools in the area, I took one lesson with John and passed the road test on my first try that very same weekend! He is professional, friendly and I highly recommend taking your road test with this school.
Negative experience: Please don’t go to these guys, I booked to take my drivers test and they refused to respond to me for almost two months . I’m actually going to sue in-order for them to refund my money. I couldn’t go because I had emergencies, even if it doesn’t mention it anywhere on their website that you can’t get a refund even if you can’t go. They still have refused to respond to me. They are inhumane.
Hi Solome Nakimuli. Thank you for taking the time for the review. You actually booked 2 road tests with us and only paid for 1. You even confirmed the approved dates for your road test. Honestly, I'm not sure how you would expect a refund for something you requested (twice) and failed to appear after YOU confirmed (twice). Here is the proof on the texts you received and replied: August 15, 2020 - You were sent a text that your road test you requested was appreoved: SOLOME S. NAKIMULI. THIS IS AN AUTO-MESSAGE! Fantastic experience: Simple, calm instruction from professionals. Z was especially knowledgable. Only problem was getting in contact with John and having to schedule hours in person due to COVID. Overall an excellent driving school that helped me pass my road test!
Fantastic experience: I did John's 10-hour driving lesson package, since I was a beginner. I passed the road test with confidence, but more importantly I feel prepared to drive safely and easily anywhere on the road. He teaches parallel parking super well, and is a rmv-certified examiner himself, so he knows just how to help. John also shares my love for doggies, so dog-spotting during lessons was enjoyable too :)
Fantastic experience: My daughter completed her driving class through a different driving school, but hadn't started her driving. I came to Boston Driving School after Covid because the wait through this other school was long.... and John was immediately able to get her in with driving lessons. We finished in July. I took the parent class via John and he let me know that all that was needed was for this other school to submit that my daughter had taken the class. Two months later- after numerous calls, emails, and rude conversations with this other school (starts with a C) John went above and beyond to help me get my daughter the ability to take the test. He called the other driving school (starts with a C) and of course they did not answer. He called and emailed the DMV on behalf of my daughter. He put up with my lengthy texts and phone calls. And never once complained- even if he should have, lol. John was also considerate and conscientious of our situation and he promised to fix it. And he did. I HIGHLY recommend this driving school. Once my next child needs to take the class and driving lessons there will be no hesitation with whom I will choose. Do not pick one of the driving schools that are visible on every corner as you drive around- they will not do what this man did for me and my daughter. I am forever grateful for having met him and using his amazing driving school.
Negative experience: DO NOT CHOOSE THIS SCHOOL. Terrible service and little communication with customers. I scheduled for a road test and the driving school did not confirm until 2 days before the road test, and worse that the date of the road test was changed to one day later. Then I scheduled for a lesson at 11am. The school texted me only 3 HOURS before the lesson, and gave the lesson to someone else for that I replied the text at 30 minutes before the lesson. Furthermore, their altitude is terrible, blaming me for not replying the text on time. If you are looking to just take some lessons or schedule for a road test, there are way better choices out there.
Hi Yuan. Thanks for the expressing your concern. Yes you did have lesson scheduled with us, which you had not paid for yet. Yes you did request a road test with us the 2nd time after you failed the exam the 1st time. I sent you a text out to you at 7:05am to confirm your 1pm lesson. You replied at 12:40. Obviously, your lack of untimely response led me to give that lesson to someone else that prioritize passing the Road Test. I wish you the best with your future driving endeavors.
Negative experience: SCAM ALERT!!! SCAM ALERT!!! SCAM ALERT!!! Never email back or answer the phones. So disappointed.
Hi Cathy Chen. The person that requested the road test (SA2090234 ZHIJIAO CHEN 10/14/1996) was already enrolled in another school. There are protocols, as I explained to you on the phone, to have him transferred and have an exam with us. Please stop by our school for a refund of the unused purchase. ~John
Negative experience: DO NOT ASSOCIATE WITH THIS SCHOOL WHATSOEVER! 100% SCAM AND YOU WILL NOT GET ANY INFORMATION! DOES NOT ANSWER PHONE OR EMAIL AT ALL. Sent the payment for of $675 for the full online driver's education zoom class during this pandemic. Did not get any confirmation email after the payment went through or any information whatsoever regarding my class. Attempted to contact through both email and phone number with no luck. My class that I paid for was scheduled to begin 3 days ago and I still have yet to receive any information. This service is 100% a scam and I do not recommend associating with them whatsoever. I am sure that all these other reviews are fake. I am now going to file a dispute with my bank and potentially even open a police report to attempt to get my money back...
Fantastic experience: Jon does an excellent job preparing you to feel and be confident behind the wheel. He teaches through positive reinforcement the skill sets you need to pass your road test and more importantly be a confident, safe driver for all your years on the road. Definitely recommend for young drivers! Thanks Jon!
Fantastic experience: John made this process for my wife extremely easy! The day of the road test was full of positive vibes and everyone was so nice! We are forever thankful!
Fantastic experience: Highly recommended! If you need to book a road test exam very quickly and pass from an exam you are in the right place! John is very nice, friendly and professional person.
Fantastic experience: I had a refresher lesson with Zelito ahead of my road test. He was completely aware of what areas someone like me, an adult who'd been driving abroad for years, would need to focus on in order to pass the test. Efficient, knowledgeable, and overall a great experience. Thanks!
Negative experience: Kind of strange how all the 5 star reviews cam on the same day and all the reviewers also gave a 5 star review to husky towers and exotic car rentals in Miami. SCAM ALERT
Fantastic experience: John has literally gone above and beyond to teach my son driving skills for a life time. He is very busy. (Imagine driving for hours on end with teens). So....if you call him and he does not answer you he is teaching kids. He is also a VET which I am proud my son got to know him. My son has taught me to Parallel park better. Ha Thanks John
Fantastic experience: John gave some really useful tips for driving, especially parallel parking. Scheduling through phone is a bit tricky sometimes because he’s giving lessons so had to try calling a bit but I got called back and everything was fine. John and the others were very patience and friendly. I passed my road test today. So thank you guys very much!
Hi Napassorn. You are very welcome! Congratulations in becoming the most recent licensed driver in Massachusetts. =). Looking forward to seeing driving! - John
Negative experience: There was so much wrong with my experience with this place. - During classroom hours, the teacher would regularly go on completely irrelevant tangents and relied on YouTube videos (that I could watch on my own time for free) to do the teaching for him that were mostly about the dangers of drunk driving and didn't include any other pertinent rules of the road. I can very confidently say that I learned nothing during those "30" hours (we were frequently let out up to 2 hours early). - During the driving hour I did complete here (which was my first time ever behind the wheel), they essentially threw me right into the deep end and treated me the same as someone who was almost done with their requirements. He didn't explain any of the basics-- turn signals, how to turn, how to pull over, three-point turns, nothing-- and had me drive in the middle of main street traffic across three towns despite my protests. - You frequently have to sign up 1 and half to 2 months in advance to secure even just ONE driving hour. - All of their driving hours were from 9-3 weekdays, which is all fine and dandy for the summer, but it's completely useless during the school year. Why offer only daytime weekday lessons when 90% of your clientele is high school students? - When I contacted John seven whole months before my permit expired in September to explain my situation with not being able to get any driving hours, he criticized me for not signing up for any sooner in spite of my explaining that I couldn't do them during the school year (for reason said above) or during that summer due to a drawn-out, unexpected death in my family. He then said that he could arrange for an instructor to teach me lessons on Sundays but that it would be an extra $500 on top of the $600 I had already paid for the whole driving school package that was supposed to include my 12 driving and 6 observation hours. After that, I said no thanks and switched to Belmont Driving School. This place is a complete waste of your time and money; find somewhere else and you're pretty much guaranteed to have a better experience.
Fantastic experience: I went for my road test yesterday and John was a true gem. He was patient and made me feel at ease during my test. I made two mistakes during my test but I was able to still pass. It was definitely meant for me to go through him. I practiced an hour before the test with him. He teaches you tricks that no other school has taught me and I went to two different driving schools prior to signing up with his school. Thank you John for everything your the best.
Negative experience: I signed my daughter up for this class. I do believe it was straight forward unfortunately the timing of class was not on point. 9-3 were scheduled with a lunch. I’d drop my daughter back at 12:15 and at 1 she’d be calling for a ride home. But, that is nothing compared to them not showing up for their scheduled drives. If I cancelled with less than 24 hours I would get charged $90 fee. Well this company should be paying me for 3 “no show, no call”. When I confronted John via phone he told me that he was uncertain of anything going on because he had just gotten out of the hospital. Come to find out that was not an honest answer. I emailed him expressing how unhappy I was he never responded. The day of road test which he will most likely book in Braintree he forgot all the paperwork and had to do an hour and half round trip to go get it! Again who and why am I paying?! Sadly bad news usually spreads like wild fire. I’d look into other options even if this place is convenient for you.
Fantastic experience: John and Alex are amazing and so funny. The teachers really care about the students and give them the all information they need to succeed. Classes were fun everyday
Negative experience: A driving school like no other. Direct straight forward teaching. Impossible to schedule driving lessons.
Negative experience: Very unprofessional!!! I tried to contact John hundred times to schedule me one driving lesson and the road test, most of the time he didn't respond me or the office were closed or respond to my email after 5-6 days. Today, after one month and half, I received the message that they scheduled the road test for Saturday at 7am in Braintree and I live in Watertown... Also I asked him hundred times that I need driving lesson before the road test so I refused to take the road test. Now I don’t know if I have to pay something... And he didn’t call me back to explain me better. I don’t know how he can manage this driving school. The only thing I know is TO STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCHOOL.
Hi Giovanni, Thank you for your feedback. You made a formal request for a weekend road test and it was approved for the date 6/22 @ 9:00am. I also explained to you that "the RMV Road Test Examiner has the discretion to where the approved Weekend Road Test will be conducted". After we notified you then you wanted to take driving lessons. I offered you a lesson in Watertown (where you live) and also strongly suggested a lesson in Braintree the day of the test! I was thinking a 1 hr lesson the day of the road test where the exam will be conducted was a good strategy for increasing your chances. Please let me know if you still would like the lesson the day of the exam and I'll be more than happy to help you! ~John
Negative experience: Do not believe count of good reviews! Their service is horrible! While driving what you will do is: pick other student and go ur home! They must return my $53 back , they are saying they did already class, i have a prove and each time we have signed. I am trying to call and email to John, he is now ignoring me! I tried use google sms contact right a way called back! And realized that is me! Saying sorry! We said to re-schedule to road test. 2 days left now saying we forgot! Another thing is if you say that hey school car is so dirty or smells bad, or any complain about driver they will send craziest one so you will have to close your eyes for first one. John I have all in my email and sms screenshots if you need them I will send you. Just kindly return my $53 with nice way! I don’t know why Google review is 4.4 , I have to contact to them regarding this
Negative experience: Paid for 10 hours of driving. After two, the instructor said that he would call me to set up the dates for the rest. I never received any call and left several messages with the school over the next two weeks. They never got back to me, not even when I declined the charge on my credit card after I decided that enough was enough.
Negative experience: Very disappointed!! Same problem as mentioned in other 1 star review! I should have searched on Yelp first. After my first phone call, I purchased the road test sponsorship+2hr driving lesson package and additional 2 hr driving lesson through website as John told me to. He told me that he need to use the confirmation number to schedule my lessons. He also said he would email me the schedule by email after my purchase. However, I still have not received any email yet. On the second day, I called him again and he told me he was driving and would call me back in 10-15 mins. I waited for hours and I called him again and he didn't answer my call. I sent email again and never got any responses. I called many times today and not a single call was answered.
