Fantastic experience: Highly recommended for non-US drivers! Eddy was fantastic today. I have been driving for 30yrs but moved here from Australia and wanted a lesson before my test in a couple of weeks. Eddy has really given me a clear picture of what to expect, corrected many little mistakes I was making and given me the confidence I need that my test will go well. Money well spent (even though I've been driving for decades). Update: I passed first try!

Fantastic experience: The driving instructors at Primo are really friendly. I did the 4 lessons with them and got my license first try on the road test (even with one of the stricter examiners from the Santa Monica DMV)! I personally recommend Alfred. He’s a really chill guy but he got the balance of it with his professionalism.

Fantastic experience: Amazing experience. Professional yet friendly instructors, helpful tips, and great service. Always arrived on time at the right location and were quick to notify if anything changed before the lesson began. Fantastic experience: I had four lessons with Robert at PRIMO and had the most wonderful experience. He taught me so much about the road, techniques for driving safely and defensively, all while making great conversation and having fun. From our lessons it is clear that he is very experienced in the realm of driving, especially in a hectic place like Los Angeles. After only four lessons, I passed my driving test with flying colors! Thanks to Robert I felt confident in my driving abilities and now have my license which at one point felt impossible to get. Thank you Robert, you're the best!

Negative experience: Unfortunately I had a quite unpleasant learning experience with Chris on my two-hour lesson. Our lesson included practicing driving on residential and commercial roads as well as curb parking. From the beginning of the lesson til the very end, I had a very hard time concentrating on my driving because Chris was constantly talking, literally all the time. This constant talking disturbed me a lot when I was trying to focus on the road, signaling and preparing for turns. He would give me instructions and as I was preparing to perform them and checking the road, he would just keep talking about what should be done. I understand it is necessary to guide the student to teach but I also believe after I am given instructions, I should have some silence so that the instructor can actually see how I perform. Because I would get very confused by his talking, I would get hesitant or anxious and on my slightest mistake or inconvenience, he would start a whole new conversation about what I did wrong and would keep repeating words and phrases to the point where I couldn't even focus on what to do next. I would have appreciated it more if he kept things concise or if he really needed to explain something, we could pull the car to the curb and talk about it. He would repeat the words over and over again slowly as if I had some sort of learning issue. I don't mean my review to sound petty but I think instructors should give the student some space to think, evaluate and act before starting to talk. I also would like to point out that this wasn't my first lesson with Primo. When I was doing the unprotected left turns, he constantly said that I should not go straight but rather start my turn immediately. After the third time I told him that this was what my instructor taught me on the previous lesson. When he heard that, he stalled and told me to just find the balance between the two which seemed like a quirk making me think I would be the one to be mistaken no matter what I did. On a commercial road, he asked me to take a left turn and I started to very slightly slow down taking my foot off the gas before the lane change to do the checks and do the change as I didn't want to do a very sharp lane change and there traffic lights ahead and he immediately started to talk again about how I should not slow down at all. I tried to keep my focus on the road, the lights turned red and I started to brake. He immediately changed his attitude and told me "Yes you should brake in this scenario". And I am thinking to myself "I am braking already". I didn't appreciate what I did right coming back to me as another lecture as opposed to acknowledging something I did correctly. At the end of the lesson, he graded me out of 5 evaluating the certain elements of the lesson. For curb parking, he told me to self-evaluate and I gave myself a 4 as I never hit the curb and started doing it almost perfectly after my first try and for many more repetitions. He gave me a 3 and I asked him why. His answer was: "You just started doing it". According to this mentality, If we are going to downgrade students on something they are doing the first time, then we should not grade them at all. My experience made me think that although I am still a yet-to-be-seasoned driver, my performance was taken out of context and was purposely misjudged so that I come back for more lessons. It may be more lucrative to demotivate a student driver because those instructors represent an authority after all but damaging the newly developing confidence they have can be quite hazardous when it comes to such an important thing as driving. In my case, my instructor created a pretty unsafe experience with his constant talking. I am deeply disappointed by the service Primo provided me for a high cost and I won't be using their services again. My genuine advice is to make sure you are not misjudged to purchase more lessons but evaluated fairly. Primo, please set some ground rules for your instructors about talking non-stop through the entire lesson so students can actually focus on the road.

Fantastic experience: Truly, this is an amazing driving school! After going to *another* school where instructors had me drive around to help them run errands, the professional quality of instructors at Primo felt much more supportive, official, and practical. I drove with Primo to brush up before my exam, and Brandon was the perfect instructor for drilling DMV rules before my behind-the-wheel test. He was personable and kind throughout the process, and helped me improve on every detail before my test. While I found all the instructors at Primo to be top-notch, I highly recommend scheduling lessons with Brandon before the big day (and using a Primo car with a digital display for the exam!) to fully understand the errors/fails the examiners are looking for. Very impressed and happy to say I'm a licensed driver on the first try :)

Fantastic experience: After 3 times failing the exam, I passed the driving test today at Santa Monica with Byron guiding me. I had a several classes with Byron, and he is the best instructor I have never met. His so friendly and encouraging, help me with my lack of confidence in driving. He is clear about the rules and helps me practice all the turns.

Fantastic experience: Excellent place to learn how to drive! I personally took 3 lessons in a row for a license as I was in a hurry. The teaching from Chris, Reyli, Andrew, and Eduardo were so helpful for me to get me to pass the test. They go really detailed in teaching and training and I learnt much although I was somehow experienced in driving before. The general service is also nice. Cannot recommend more.

Fantastic experience: Great school, highly recommend!!! They help to schedule DMV driving test appointments and gives you a car for your test if you choose the car test service. They also send reminder emails 2 hours prior before the service. I had a Hyundai Ionic which was really comfortable to drive. I haven’t been driving for more then 5 years since I left my country and moved to LA. I’ve taken a two hour lesson and passed the test. Mikey was my instructor, he was really nice and helpful to point to the rules different here then my country and pointing to my mistakes so I corrected them and passed the test.

Fantastic experience: Incredible instructors. I specifically requested to take each class in a different car and with a different instructor so I could learn the most. I especially enjoyed my classes with Ellie and Eddy and took multiple with both of them. I started out being super nervous and learned so quickly thanks to their encouragement and tips. They always asked me where I wanted to drive that day so I was really able to get practice all over the city. Ellie and Eddy were incredibly friendly and gave me such a sense of confidence on the road. I could not recommend them and Primo enough! VERY SATISFIED.

Fantastic experience: 5/5 Absolutely Recommend!! I passed my driving test with amazing results owing to Primo's superb coaches. My classes with Byron, Chris, Eddie, Benjamin, and Andrew prepared me for the test like nothing else could. I hadn't driven in more than a decade but Primo eased me into the process and helped me iron out my kinks superbly.

My lessons have even helped me drive confidently in China without any worry. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a driving school and would recommend even more for UCLA students because of how convenient it is :)

Fantastic experience: First and foremost I'd like to give a shout-out to my boy Eddy Calderon the best stick instructor. Thanks to his guidance I was able to buy my dream car as seen below. He was monumental in helping me find the bite point, and balancing the clutch. Honestly great experience overall, definitely worth the $210 tag for a single lesson.

Fantastic experience: My experience at Primo Driving School was EXCEPTIONAL!!!! If I could give 20 stars I would!! Huge shoutout to Byron and Carlos. Byron got me pumped up and ready for the drivers test. He polished my skills and helped me work on my abilities. And most importantly, he was an amazing guy who made sure I felt confident and sure I would do well. Unfortunately, during that test, there was an issue at the Culver City DMV where I couldn't take the drivers test, but thankfully Byron helped resolve the issue and was able to reschedule it for the next day. Then the next day, Carlos took me down, polished my skills and I passed! God is good! Big shoutout to Benji, Sean and Eddy who were my other driving instructors and for Chris who took me on my first drivers test. I am so grateful to Primo for helping me learn how to drive!!! Fantastic experience: Just reserved with Jaelyn. She explained everything and made me feel comfortable! We are set up for Stick Shift and after reading reviews, I may want to try it myself, even though I already know how. But great experience so far and by far the best start. Spoke with many other companies and these salespeople put on some hard pressure. But Jaelyn was totally wonderful and explained all our options and sold us on her working with our schedule and suggested the best times to do our lessons. We got rush hour, night time and day time no traffic for the 3 days. Very professional so far and if the actual lessons are even better, lookout for the best review known to man. Referrals are big and I will make sure I spread the good word. You don't get 5 stars with over 200 reviews if you didn't do it right. Great hire with Jaelyn and keep up the great work! Fantastic experience: Wayne Chen Delgado is an incredible instructor. I had my lesson with him today and overall, it was an amazing experience. His instructions were very clear and he had many important tips and reminders to give me throughout the lesson. To prepare for the driving test, we ran through a simulation of a real test to make sure that I was completely ready. I definitely recommend Wayne to anyone wanting a positive and fun driving experience!

Fantastic experience: I recently did my first stick-shift driving lesson at Primo and it was great! Eddy Calderon was an excellent instructor - friendly, calm, patient, with a step-by-step method that worked really well for me. We started out in a quiet parking structure, then moved out to a nearby quiet neighborhood, and then on the busier streets of Westwood. I had a lot of fun and learned much more quickly than I thought I would! Everyone else I met at Primo was also incredibly friendly and nice. The women in the front office were so welcoming and helpful and all the staff were just so kind and happy. Overall, I had such a great experience, and I would highly recommend Primo, and Eddy in particular if you are interested in learning stick-shift!

Fantastic experience: I had my DMV test scheduled and used Primo's services. I had the pleasure of meeting Ely Magallon, who instructed me and gave me some tips and tricks while driving to the DMV. We practiced for an hour before the test and I learnt a lot which was useful for the test! I did pass, and definitely thanked her for it! She has a great personality and pepped me up for my test! I also took classes from Dunbar, Sean, Wayne, and Regis. They were all great instructors, super helpful and gave me lots of tips and techniques. Fantastic experience: I had all my lessons with Chris and couldn’t recommend him & Primo enough. Chris was incredible. His instructions and guidance were very clear and gave me huge confidence on the road from my first until my last lesson. He easily saw the areas I needed to improve on and communicated to me in exactly the right manner. He made the whole experience enjoyable. Primo has a great system for communication and reminders about lessons. I love that I got a report after each lesson along with a map of the route I had been on during the lesson as well.

Fantastic experience: I could not recommend them higher! I failed my 1st attempt and then decided to enroll in Primo. My instructors were KC and Eduardo. They were kind, patient and good at identifying my strengths and weaknesses. Thanks to them, I passed my 2nd attempt.

Fantastic experience: I really enjoyed my 2 lessons I took with Ely Magallon, she was super helpful and created a great learning environment. The 2 hrs flew by like nothing thanks to her flamboyant personality and her driving tips and tricks were very helpful.

Fantastic experience: I am giving this school a 5 star because of my last class with Carlos. I took 6 hrs. of behind the wheels driving lessons with Primo and he was one of the best. Very patient, really invested in teaching and wanting you to get over your anxiety. He showed up early, make sure he familiarizes me with my controls and the new car. One feedback I had for primo is that its hard to get classes on the weekend & request the same instructor, which can be a challenge and you can have long pauses if you are working. In the past most of my instructors were too focused on stopping the class on time. I wish I had Carlos for all my classes. If anyone from Primo is reading this, give Carlos a raise!! Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: I Highly recommend Primo Driving School! I took a couple dozen lessons with them progressing from basic foundations to driving in freeways and canyons by my end lessons! I had come from a non-car centric city before moving here, so coming to LA, I needed to have a car! I took lessons starting at the beginning of the year and got my license first try after 5 months! I liked almost all of my instructors, each with their own different teaching styles, guidance, reference points and defensive driving tips that were helpful, I switched between several instructors. Overall, I would say this was pretty safe way to approach driving, felt pushed out of my comfort zone appropriately and never pushed too hard. Highly recommend Primo!

I just moved to la, and while I understand the basic driving skills, carlos helped me a lot to understand the criteria needed to pass the test. he taught me everything i needed to drive carefully in la, and as a result, i passed my driving test. Fantastic experience: I passed my Behind the Wheel test on my first try (Jan2023)! Thanks to my instructor Eduardo and Eddy. They taught me not only to pass my exam but to make sure that I will be able to safely drive with my kids. As a bonus, Eduardo speaks my language, Filipino/Tagalog, so he was able to explain more some things that are confusing. I highly recommend both of them :)

Fantastic experience: I did my first lesson here driving and Carlos was AMAZING!! He got me to understand everything and he was very very nice and funny. I felt very confident and it was an amazing process. I cant thank Primos and Carlos enough!

Fantastic experience: Mikey Lao was my daughter’s instructor today. Since she is taking her behind the wheel test in a few weeks, she asked Mikey if he would prepare her for the test. He went above and beyond and had her drive the streets near the DMV where she will be taking the test. He seemed knowledgeable about what subjects she would be tested on and went over them with her as well.

Fantastic experience: I’ve taken classes with a number of different instructors here and just passed my driving test! Ely, Eduardo, and Carlos are the absolute best ❤️ The school is more expensive than some others but you definitely get what you pay for. Scheduling is painless and everyone is an absolute professional.

Fantastic experience: Big thanks to Primo Driving for helping me to get my license in LA in my thirties. I put it off for way too long, and built up a lot of anxiety with it, but their instructors were phenomenal, and I passed my road test on my first go. Eduardo was my main instructor, so big thanks to him, and also Mark and Regis. A different Mark, the owner, also accompanied me to my road test, and it was inspiring to hear why he started the driving school in the first place. This has been a big accomplishment in my life considering my age and city of residence, and I have only Primo to thank, so I cannot recommend them enough. Their office staff was also always quick to respond and accommodate. Thank you thank you thank you!

Fantastic experience: The lessons from Primo driving school are excellent! I had no prior driving experience in the US and my instructor Ely helped me overcome my fear of driving. She always explains details to me patiently to make sure that I understand every bit. On the day of behind-the-wheel test Carlos came pick me up. He is a chill dude. Thanks to Ely and Carlos and Primo driving school I finally got my license.

Fantastic experience: I moved to LA with very little driving experience. I’m so glad that I took lessons at primo and I can’t thank Eduardo enough for helping me become a more confident and safe driver. He was always thorough, encouraging, and kind! I passed my behind the wheel test with only one minor mistake. Can’t recommend this school and Eduardo enough!

Negative experience: My daughter had a lesson scheduled with Michael at 10 am. The lady told me when scheduling this was his first lesson of the day. We received a text message 10 minutes after the lesson started that he was running late. He arrived 23 minutes after the start of the lesson. We were also told we would receive a report card after the lesson. We have never received the report card. I don't recommend coming here as they seem to tell you anything to get you to pay their high prices.

Fantastic experience: Primo Driving is great! Ely was my instructor for my last five classes. I really appreciate her patience in explaining different driving skills such as turning, lane changes, etc. I struggled with driving anxiety, so it took me quite some time to improve on each of these skills. Ely took the time to explain everything multiple times. With practice, I was able to gain more confidence in myself. By the last lesson, she said I had a noticeable improvement in my acceleration and turning. I have yet to take my driving exam, but I am going to keep practicing, and it's thanks to Ely that I have reached this point!

Fantastic experience: Excellent driving school which helped me get my CA driver’s license!! I took around 7 lessons with Eduardo, and he is just an outstanding instructor! He gave me many useful tips and guidance, and we spent a lot of time practicing on my weaknesses (these unprotected left…). Thanks Eduardo for making me a safer driver!!

Fantastic experience: I've taken several lessons at Primo Driving School and all the instructors that I met are gems! I passed the road test at Santa Monica DMV with Ely. She is amazing! Even though we had about 30 mins to practice before the test, she noticed my problems and focused on those things, which brought me a driver's license! She has such an sharp eye. If you don't have enough time to practice, I highly recommend Ely. I would also like to appreciate Michael, my very first instructor at Primo. He is friendly, easy-going and skilled. Thanks to him, I felt comfortable while driving, even though I sometimes forgot to breathe He taught me driving is fun! Not to mention alot of useful tips.

Fantastic experience: First off I just wanna say a big thank you to Ely! She was so attentive,insightful, and broke down any questions I had with my driving, gave me reassurance that I would pass! She was so kind help me feel comfortable with my driving and I passed I made no mistakes! Also thank you to Mike & Mark too! Everyone helped and gave me insight that I need and just pointers that made a difference & made me a confident driver. It was honestly worth every penny.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful experience from signing up to appointments to actual testing guides. Just Fantastic all the way. Shoutout to Eduardo, amazing instructor, always patient, clear instructions. Passed the first time, I owe him my license. So really do suggest Westwood Primo Driving School, it’s a great choice.

Fantastic experience: I learnt to drive with Eduardo from Primo Driving School in Westwood. I am a UK licence holder and wanted experience with California traffic rules and etiquette. Eduardo was a patient, clear and professional instructor. He took time to explain rules, had a clear communication style and I passed my road test first time. We had the chance to do a practice test together. I would highly recommend the school and him personally.

Fantastic experience: My 17 year old son passed his driving test first time with Primo driving school. The instructors are polite, attentive and are really adaptive to what exactly needs to be focused on to prepare you/them for your driving test. I love the fact that I got a graded assessment after each lesson and Mark, Dorothy and their team really do go above and beyond to offer excellent service. I would highly recommend for any new drivers in the LA area!

Fantastic experience: Great driving school all the instructors I had were good but Ely was the best. I failed twice before but when I did a full 2 hour lesson with her she really helped me improve my scanning and driving so I was able to pass the driving test with 0 mistakes! Ely is a great instructor who really knows her stuff but is also kind and makes sure you are ready.
