Fantastic experience: Of all the driving schools we checked out when it was time for my daughter to take driver’s ed, Nova was the easiest to work with. Valerie has been especially great. They understand that teens have crazy schedules and they helped us figure out a way to fit everything in so that my daughter can start driving herself around ASAP and I can get my life back.

Fantastic experience: Rueben is a great instructor at Nova driving school. I was a nervous driver, and with Rueben help, and patience, I'm less nervous and will be able to obtain my driving license soon. I would definitely suggest Reuben as a driving instructor.

Fantastic experience: Taking classes with Nova has been such a great experience!! I took classes with Carlos, Marq, and Martha and all three of them were so so kind and helpful. Martha especially was such an incredible instructor! Highly highly recommend taking classes with her if you can! She gave me so many helpful tips and reference points and even used lots of pictures and diagrams to help me fix any mistakes I was making. Also, special shout out to Julio who was such a sweetheart and took time out during my last driving class to really break down left turns and common mistakes people make at the intersection. With their help, I was able to pass my driving test in 1 try after just 4 classes. Thanks so much Nova!

Fantastic experience: Such a positive experience!! I’ve been delaying driving for so long due to being nervous. Then I signed up for the 8 hour Adult Driving program at nova. All the instructors were so great and calmed my anxiety and taught me to be a more confident and safe driver. I was able to get my license in the first attempt after just 4 lessons with Nova. I am especially thankful to Jamie and Dario for being great instructors and also Julio for prepping me for the driving test right before.

Negative experience: So I paid for this service because it was more convenient for my teen to take with them than with the school. All in all classes were ok except the instructor had no idea it was my sons last day driving and didn’t cover some things with him. I did email asking and was told “this is at instructor discretion”. My son said instructor was surprised it was their last day. Fast forward 1 years to take the road test. 3 weeks to get this scheduled. I kept getting told someone would call me. I finally got it scheduled. Then my son injured his foot and I called and left voicemails and emailed to reschedule to avoid the fee. Nothing. I finally got ahold of them a few hours before and they tried to charge me the fee. I was livid. They won’t give supervisors names either. This customer service is terrible. Still waiting on a resolution.

Fantastic experience: Naza from Nova Driving School is amazing. She set up appointments me and was always available for any help or question. Jamie, my instructor, was very patient and supportive; highly recommend taking lessons with Jamie. Also recommend Frank, who I had for my first lesson - he went above and beyond what is required and truly wants the driver to succeed, sending additional videos. Jamie went above and beyond in terms of teaching me, by sending YouTube videos and notes.

Fantastic experience: My instructor David Pablo is the best hands down awesome guy very patient and professional without him I wouldn’t have obtained my drivers license he broke everything down for me and made sure I understood everything from mechanics to timing thank you David

Fantastic experience: I had a very good experience with nova. I was able to get my license on the first try thanks to Martha and David P. They were my favorite instructors and both taught me so much and gave me confidence to believe in myself everytime I got behind the wheel. The customer service reps were always so friendly and nice and it was easy to set up appointments for lessons. I highly recommend nova.

Fantastic experience: I came to Nova's Evanston location as an adult after surveying nearby driving schools, seeing it recommended on the Secretary of State's website, and reading the multitude of glowing reviews. Being congenitally vision-impaired and living a sedentary lifestyle, I never really had faith in my own potential to drive and simply didn't bother learning how. After being told by an optometrist that my vision is sufficiently strong to drive and needing to make some lifestyle changes otherwise, I had my sights set on finally learning to drive many years after I became legally eligible. I instantly felt welcomed by both of my instructors and chose to continue with Frank, my 2nd instructor, for all future lessons after developing an outlook for reinforcing existing skills and building upon them. Frank is the model teacher: affable and funny, but very fair and sets high expectations for his students. Looking back, I've always felt like the best teachers I had throughout general education were of a similar nature. I received naught but constructive criticism and sought to refine essential maneuvers - both during and outside of my lessons - to progress to more advanced material. During every lesson, including the very last, my instructors dispensed unexpected morsels of knowledge on top of the core curriculum which will surely be of use in years to come. I cannot understate the value of the behind-the-wheel lessons. There is simply no better way to learn to drive than being accompanied by someone far more experienced than yourself in a variety of real-life situations, ready to analyze its minutiae and explain traffic laws relative to everyday events. No amount of reading or engaging with simulations can fully prepare you for the reality of driving. Nova really isn't about getting your license as quickly as possible - it's about learning *how* to drive and drive *well*. Passed the test and got my license on my very first try yesterday - couldn't have done it without this place. :)

Negative experience: Our instructor was not friendly. It would be nice if they work on this, new drivers would have a comfortable experience.

Fantastic experience: PASSED! My nephew had been working on getting his license but never had the right training, time , or vehicle to rely on! Nova driving school took care of all of that ! I could say that my nephew went in with little to no experience behind the wheel. By the end of his lessons he came out more confident in himself ! Awesome job Nova ! Definitely recommend to any beginner driver wanting to learn ! They're are accepting of any age and anyone!

Fantastic experience: I got past my road test today. Thanks a lot to Nova. Especially teacher Frank, he is an amazing teacher, who is very experienced and knowledgeable. Today before my road test, another teacher Javier Moreno helped me to practice one more time and gave me a lot of very helpful tips. He even gave me more confidence and support by holding my hand and saying “you will make it”. I was very touched and so thankful for him.

Fantastic experience: I got the package 1 hour btw and driving test that Nova offers. Jamie was my instructor he was very professional and helpful throughout. He made me feel very comfortable and helped me to calm my nerves before the test. He made me practice on the route of the test which was super beneficial and made me confident on my test. He instructed me for 2 hours but i would say meantime I learned almost every required rule for driving … Even the lady on phone scheduling my appointment was so good at communicating. Her name was Felicia, she answered all my queries patiently and guided me with entire procedure. Nova made my day made me confident✌ & yeaaaahhhoo not to drive through buses anymore…

Fantastic experience: The instructors here are excellent. My favourite is Mr. David Bonilla, but closely followed are German and Frank. Love how this school is bilingual, too. The instructors are very kind and very patient. I highly recommend this school for adult drivers and teens.

Fantastic experience: I am glad that I chose NOVA Driving School to learn driving skills. All staff members were extremely polite and helping at every single step. I'd specifically mention David Bonilla who helped me get my driver's license. His patience and help are the reasons that I got my driver's license. Overall, it was a wonderful experience being part of thus driving school.

Negative experience: Wrongfully charging cancelation fees. During the actual behind the wheel sessions, the instructor (German) was consistently on his phone browsing through Instagram and due to that I almost ran a red light and missed few turns. After behind the wheel sessions were completed, it was time for the road test. 1. Instructor never taught me on how to do uphill/downhill parking. It was never even mentioned during our session, but when asked him about it, he lied that said he did go over it and just sent a text message on how to do uphill/downhill parking. 2. I specifically asked to get my road-test scheduled for Saturday or before 8:30 AM since I have to be at work on time at 9:30 AM (M-F). They were able to schedule on different days, different times, and even different location than what I requested, but when I said I can't make it to these they wanted to charge me $60 fees to have them reschedule it. They wanted to penalized me for the mistakes they made on purpose. I wish I could give less than 1 star and file an official complaint against them at their corporate office. This type of treachery should be illegal. Learn from my mistakes and go with a-Adams School of Driving or Northwestern Driving School.

Fantastic experience: I enrolled for the "Adult Beginner - 8 HR BTW + Road Test" program and is extremely satisfied and happy. Not only did I passed my DMV road test at one go, but also evolved as a better driver! I'd the opportunity to get BTW training from MARIO on 3 out of 4 classes/ occasions (including my final Road Test class) and must say that he is one of the best and most experienced instructors at Nova. Mario made sure I learn the basics, adapt and evolve thru the BTW process. I would highly recommend anyone who requires driving courses to go with Nova Driving School and ask for Mario as their instructor. Rest assured you will have an enriching and learning experience thru the course.

Fantastic experience: David Bonilla is an excellent driving teacher ever. Confidence matters a lot while learning. He never let our confidence down. Fantastic experience: I took a 2 hr driving class plus road test with Nova and had a great experience. My instructor David was an amazing teacher and made sure that I was 100% ready for my road test. I got my driving license on my first attempt! Very happy with Nova.

Fantastic experience: I working with Jamie through out my driving classes, he is an excellent instructor. But on the road test preparation class I was given a new instructor, David Bonilla. In the start I was very nervous about this instructor switch but after my class start David turned out to an amazing instructor. Because the car was new to me I kept on pressing too hard on the brakes and accelerator, but David was very kind to give me time to adjust in the new car instead of rushing me. He told me to get the feel of the car, once I am good with the car I should let him know. David is very clear with instruction but at the same time he is not rude. The best part about working with him was that he would not just stop you from doing something, but also explain you why he gave you that instruction so that you can get the concepts clear in your mind. He is very patient, friendly and respectful. I would definitely recommend him. With his and Jamie's excellence teaching skills I have gotten my drivers' license. All thanks to them and nova driving school.

Fantastic experience: Very patient driving instructors! I did the two hour practice before the road test and my instructor, Martha Naveda explained very single step that was going to be on the road test. We practiced until I felt very comfortable and prepared for the test. Would recommend!

Positive experience: I took all my driver’s license courses with David B. at Nova. He is an experienced but strict instructor. He knows his student well and can teach you many useful driving skills. However, I have to say Nova’s customer service is just average. I felt a bit nervous so I tried to change my road test date and schedule more lessons w/ the school. After I called, one of the operators called back to confirm the change, but later I found that my information online wasn’t change, so I had to call them again. Moreover, an operator scheduled an Saturday appointment for me, but when I came to the school, it was closed. I had to call Nova & my instructor to take the lesson. Overall, my experience with Nova is positive. I truly learnt how to drive there. I hope Nova can improve its customer service in the future and help more people learn to drive!

Fantastic experience: I would strongly recommend nova driving school to everyone. I had a driving experience of almost 8 years and 60000 kms in india and I was pretty confident to pass the road test in my first attempt however when I took my road test (2 attempts without any driving school instructions) I realised that there were a few things which I was not aware off and all those things really matters when it comes to the road test in Illinois. No need to mention that I failed my first two attempts. Finally I reached out to Nova driving school and I was lucky enough to have "David Bonilla" as my instructor. He was very good at what he was supposed to do as an instructor. He helped me with all the possible scenarios related to advanced intersection, turns etc. He can provide you all those nitty gritty details to pass your test in your first attempt itself. When you call Nova ask for "David bonilla" as your instructor. Highly recommended. I could have easily saved at least 1 year if I would have known this earlier. Highly recommended to all immigrants also. Don't get into the trap of cheap individual instructors in the market they don't provide good services while nova has a brand to maintain and they go for an additional mile to make sure that you pass your test in your first attempt . I would suggest that you should Go for at least 4 hour behind the wheel + road test package. It's every penny worth it.I hope this review helps most of you out there looking for a driving school to learn driving or just want to clear the Road test being an experienced driver in some other country.

Fantastic experience: I did the six hour package plus the road test. The instructors were super helpful. Instructor Guillermo was very calm. He said that I had a good driver‘a instincts - let it be true or not, he gave me a lot of confidence. Instructor David Bonilla met me at the road test. He made me drove through the route that I would have been tested, and reminded me the points I need to pay attention to. I would book with them both for a highway driving and parallel parking. If you book with them, I suggest that you get the same instructors for all driving sessions.

Fantastic experience: I honestly could not say enough good things about Nova! They are professional, efficient, sensitive to the student's needs, and go above and beyond preparing you for your road test. I had a good deal of anxiety around operating cars, and within the span of six lessons, I was ready to take the test. I worked with Instructor Jamie Masterson, and our sessions were comprehensive and placed emphasis on defensive driving. Jamie was so wonderful to work with; he was incredibly patient, confident, calm, clear in his directions, and friendly! Highly recommend requesting him if given the chance to (ESPECIALLY if you are anxious or stressed about driving). Huge thanks to Jamie and the Nova Team for making this a pleasant experience!

Fantastic experience: My instructor, David Bonilla, was cool, and professional. While I was waiting my RT, test route was changed twice due to the road construction, and I was going to be crazy. David taught me different routes and all the skills needed, and I could get my DL smoothly. In addition, I needed to get my driver license urgently, so I rashly asked them to schedule earlier RT. But, the employee kept her kindness, and tried to schedule at the earliest time. I'm really appreciated that.

Fantastic experience: I had a good experience with Nova Driving School. Although initially I had a very negative first lesson experience with Filip, Nova was very professional and good with communication, and gave me a new instructor. My instructor, Mario, was absolutely amazing. I was a complete beginner, and he did a very good job helping me learn and making sure I was ready to take the test. In just six lessons I was able to get my license, and before I took my test, I did some preparation driving with David Bonilla, who was very helpful in giving me tips for the driving test and helping with the process of getting my license. Overall, I would recommend this driving school for beginners.

Fantastic experience: Today I had my first lesson with David Bonilla at Nova driving school. I’m a nervous driver and he did a great job and made me feel very comfortable during our lesson. He is very thorough and carried himself very professionally. He by far exceeded my expectations and I look forward to our next lesson together! Edited 1/25/22: Now I feel I can write a thorough review now that I have completed the program. Looking back, Nova driving school really exceeded my expectations. I had my lessons primarily with Datarri and David. Both made me feel comfortable and were very professional; they helped me over come my driving anxiety. When it was time for my road test, I will admit that I was a little nervous. Luckily, I was able to see the route I would have been tested on which really helped ease my nervousness. I remember the day of my road test and I have never felt more confident behind the wheel. I remember after I completed my road test, the examiner told me I did a great job and that he was going to get my license and to wait in the car. It was music to my ears. For 10 years that was the moment I was waiting for. Admittedly I cried hysterically since I was so happy. Now I am a licensed driver and I can’t thank Nova driving school enough. I would highly recommend them!

Though I already had my license, lessons I took through Nova helped not only build my confidence, but knowledge on the road for me. David was a terrific instructor and gave me all the knowledge and help that I needed in order to continue driving well on the road. Fantastic experience: I have taken the road test through them .David was my instructor and I was highly impressed with his patience and guiding me to fix the errors to successfully pass the road test .

Fantastic experience: I took the 6 hour adult driving course and then the 1-hour prep and road test. I had a lot of questions before the 1-hour class and road test and NOVA answered them all and made sure that I wasn't at the DMV longer than I needed to be. I felt prepared for the Elston test and even though I had 4 separate teachers for my 4 different classes, each of them were able to teach me in a way I got. And they were patient and definitely aided in my passing the DMV exam. The 1-hour prep beforehand was also super helpful and necessary and it all allows you to get used to the car you're driving and know the route. Definitely recommend NOVA for anyone, but especially adults who haven't gotten proper instruction or license yet.

Fantastic experience: David Bonilla is very patient and explains instructions thoroughly! Even when it came down to the minor mistakes, Bonilla I still took the time to help correct them and practice on improving the skills that were lacked. Definitely will recommend my instructor and would want him again!

Fantastic experience: Pedro was very helpful when taking me on my second chance of getting my license. He was calm, friendly, & does a good job of explaining what’s to be expected. If you want a good time being educated on the road test & driving, Pedro is your guy. David was also very helpful. He helped me get into the actual line of taking my road test. Fantastic experience: I am very much happy to finally commit learning how to drive after waiting for many years. My first lesson with Alexandria I was so nervous, she was quick to correct my mistakes in a nice way and reminded me the street symbols I need to keep in mind all the time. She was very attentive. But my second instructor David Bonilla actually get into more detailed explanations and showed the control system of the car and how to actually get more comfortable in the car which actually helped me having zero knowledge about driving. He was very thorough and calm and I didn’t feel under pressure and I was able to drive the streets which I thought I could not do. He is very knowledgeable and an amazing instructor! That’s why I have requested that David will be my instructor again for my next lessons. Overall, it was a such a great experience!

Fantastic experience: I chose Nova school based on google reviews. Super worth it ! I have never driven before and was nervous to get behind the wheels. Nova has the Best instructors like Datarri Gaines, Stephen Douglas, David Bonilla. The School has kind & courteous staff who helped me with my schedules. Special mention about MELISSA , she took ownership of my schedules and followed up religiously. STEPHEN DOUGLAS : I was super nervous and Anxious to drive but he started to teach me the basic things and explained step by step. DATARRI GAINES : He was cool, polite, motivating, high level of patience. In Every lesson, he helped me to be more confident and points out what I have improved and what I have to improve, as well as how to do it. He gave me more confidence and was VERY VERY patient with my mistakes. Though I was anxioua to drive in the highways, he made me do it like a cake-walk. Unforgettable experience under his Guidance and pointers! DAViD BONILLA : He helped me with the road prep test. His professionalism , patience and motivation is super excellent. His words were boosting confidence in me. He made sure that I was not nervous before taking up the test . All the above instructors trusted in my driving skills and made me appear for the road test, I got my Driving license

Fantastic experience: I have been to two different driving schools before but both were not professional enough for me. One of these could not communicate with English and the other was not Educative. NOVA DRIVING SCHOOL will take you from the basis functional car parts to why they are needed etc. They also have good instructors like Nelson David and Maliano.

Fantastic experience: David Bonilla (he is @ Evanston location ) was very nice and professional with my behind the wheel class. Gave supportive feedback that made me pass my Drivers license!!! 10/10 for Nova School got my license less than a month . Definitely try out they're service .

Fantastic experience: I am 22 years old and have never driven before. I was getting scared and anxious every time I thought about driving, so I decided to enroll on Nova's driving lessons. Super worth it! My instructor is David Bonilla and he has been great! He helped me with my anxiety and fear and now I enjoy driving! Every lesson he helps me be more confident and points out what I have improved and what I have to improve, as well as how to do it. I am super glad with my decision and excited to get my license soon!
