Negative experience: I have used this company for years with no issues and now all of a sudden I cant get any assistance. I did a new driving course and need the certificate for my insurance and I still haven't received it. Its been over a month and I have wrote letters to their website and no assistance has been made. I'm going on another month without the certificate being mailed to me. Its ridiculous. I will never use this company again and I'm urging others not to use this company because there are no live customerr service reps to assist. I'm so upset I wasted my money. I haven't received a letter or certificate copy and it is more than a month now

Negative experience: This company has a problem with the defensive driving course, camera. I paid and of course that went through just fine. Now, you have to sit in front of a camera to take your picture. Everytime you have to verify your the one taking the test. The camera just kept scanning me but, didnt allow me, to go to the next step! And guys, they let you pay for the $8 fee, for them to notify your insurance. And, it does say audio but, there wasn't audio. It will pop up on the screen and say, "If you want audio it will be a additional $5.. No warning, because you already hit the button for the class. Now you find out, audio didn't come with it. So, now you have to agree to add AUDIO FOR $5 additional dollars... I requested my money back several times, and have been ignored several times. Customer service only works between 5pm - 7pm only!! 2 hours only. Guys I am pissed, with this company. Now, I have to notify my Bank. Good luck to everyone, WHO STILL WILL USE THIS COMPANY!

Negative experience: Horrible experience. It has been month and I have not received my certificate. They keep making up lies about its in the mail. Finally after telling me it was in the mail a few times admitted the site lost my info and asked again for it. Im waiting another two weeks from the date it was suppsedly mailed after giving them the info they lost and still have not received it. They are totally incompetent.

Negative experience: The DMV ruined this company and I predict it will be out of business very shortly and that's because the government ruins EVERYTHING. I signed up 3 years ago to save money on my insurance. It was extremely convenient and easier than sitting in a room listening to a instructor drone on. Well, I went back to renew and the DMV has regulated this online learning class so much that you literally want to throw your phone or computer through a wall. This is not an exaggeration: You will be in the middle of a mod and it will demand you take a photo of yourself to confirm your ID. Many times, the shitty cam they have doesn't take and you're locked out of your account. This may happen every five minutes. NOT JOKING. Then when you contact IMPROV and they unlock your account. You continue with the course and it will keep doing this and asking secret answers to questions. If you get locked out a certain number of times the DMV mandates that IMPROV consider you a fail on the course and you have to start from the beginning. WHO ON EARTH would want to put themselves through all of this again and retake this course? I asked for a refund. You will too. DON'T DO IT. Go and find a local driving school and sit there and listen it's less stressful.

Negative experience: Absolutely horrible experience and the customer service is even worse. I have taken this course 5 times since 2013. It was always straightforward and user friendly and I never had to contact customer service for any reason before now. That was not the case this time around. The website has changed dramatically and has become very cumbersome to use. I had issues with my account and attempted to contact customer service, no one is ever available by phone. I was never even able to change my password from the temporary one provided when I created the account on the new website. Three weeks after completing the course I was contacted by email about a missing Driver’s License Number. Due to this issue, my certificate could not be processed or mailed to me. I requested a refund, but still have not heard back. This is not the same course I took in the past and I will be looking at other options for the future.

Negative experience: This course has been an absolute nightmare! I paid for it and one day has passed, and I still can’t access this course. This is absolutely unacceptable.! I will be calling my credit card company and getting my money back. Don’t do it. It’s nothing but aggravation and nobody will help. It’s stuck on the facial recognition and won’t load my camera.

Negative experience: Not happy, this has changed a lot since the last time I took the test. First of all, I had to get on a chat with customer service twice just to get my account working after paying for it. Next, I’m taking the test, on chapter 7 and mind you this test is extremely long and doesn’t allow you to skip time. As I was taking the chapter 7 quiz I messed up. I thought I had to retake ONLY chapter 7 instead it made me start over from the beginning on chapter 1. All of those hours I used, GONE! I had to start from scratch, really frustrating and I am unhappy with my experience.

Fantastic experience: Completed their online course smoothly a couple years back, they really make the content easier to digest than other courses. Two years later, I'm in need of a new copy of my certificate and their customer support got back to me quickly and are sending over a new copy. No phone call needed either, all done through email! Amazing support!

Negative experience: New course is an absolute disgrace. Regrettably they have my money so I'm forced to work through it. But this is no longer the comedy show course of past. It is totally different, with annoying 'characters' who you get to know on a first name basis trying to tell you stuff with a smile, but they've likely never even step foot in a comedy club. Honestly thinking after every chapter 'I'm just going back to wasting a Saturday sitting at my local AAA to take their class, because even that wasn't nearly as painful as this'. Nice job improv, you really ruined a good course!

Negative experience: I took course three years ago and bought again. This time the website constantly didn't work. I had to constantly restart or chat for help. Spent more time dealing with the course than doing the course. Finally asked for refund and will try a different site.

Negative experience: I took this in 2021 and it was great. But something very bad has happened, the website no longer works. Issues logging in, submitting test questions, and security verification all timing out, saying "Oops something went wrong." Videos glitch and won't play at all. It got so bad that it would time out when I entered my security questions, and then reload with no question. If I tried to refresh it told me I failed to answer the security. This ended up locking me out of my course and I was told I would have to restart the entire course. When I called and did live chat, I was repeatedly told there was nothing they could do. When I said the website was very broken they told me there's no maintenance requests and everything is fixed. They would not help me and eventually tried to gaslight me and say I was taking the wrong test and should take an easier one. I had been doing this for hours and was 3/4ths through. I'm praying I get a refund, this seems like a scam.

Negative experience: Horrible experience. Stay away. Spent 2 hours with "live chat" -- my screen kept freezing up, and was not able to continue. Representative told me to "empty cache" and follow "troubleshooting guide." Then offered to give me a $10 refund after I spent 3 hours on the course. Unhelpful and incompetent customer service. Update: I got to last chapter after contacting customer support 22 times (not a typo). Then I supposedly got the wrong answer to a security question, and was told I had to start ALL OVER. Supervisor did not respond and was told supervisor had no authority to get ne back on system. STAY AWAY from this course!

Positive experience: I start a section, complete it, close the app. Open it again, and I gotta do the last section all over again. Doesn't let me sign in half the time, had to wait on hold 3x's to get back on the course. Lots of bugs! I can't deal with this much longer, have done the distracted driving part twice and now I gotta start it again. Customer service is a joke, they just say complete each section before you take a break. We'll I can't always do that. Better places must exist. Very dissatisfied Update, after some helpful customer service I got thru the course. They took my info and gave me a better sign in link than what's on Google. It seemed to fix the bugs using this alternative page.... Idk how, but when this works well it's a great course

Negative experience: Some big bloopers in the course material, esp. at the end -- "put on soothing music" to calm yourself when angry is distracted driving if you are messing with your radio or Spotify while driving. And the illustration shows a driver wearing headphones! WRONG! The quizzes at the end of each chapter are just softballs. The card-sorting activities are just time-wasters, either make them more challenging or get rid of them. A lot of filler in the course that makes it take much longer to complete then it should without adding any value. Misleading marketing -- I received an email offering the course for free, but when I clicked on the link the same day, less than 24 hours after receiving it, the offer was no longer valid although a discount in the same email was -- classic bait and switch. The iphone app is a mess, it stalled out in the 2nd chapter and was useless after that and I had to complete the course on my laptop. Other reviewers have noted both the phone app and browser app constantly glitch out. Overall took much longer than it should have, a terrible customer service experience. I will find a different course next time.

Negative experience: I completed my course 12/30/2023. I attempted to call but the hold time was too long. I reached out via email on 01/11/2024 inquiring for the status on the certificate to submit for insurance purposes. I received a text message for assistance same day advising me the certificate was mailed 01/03 due to the holiday and to expect delivery within 7-10 business days. On the 10th business day 01/18/2024 I reached out via text message since I STILL DID NOT receive my certificate and did not receive a reply. Im dissatisfied and wont use this company again. I would have rather paid triple the price elsewhere and received it sooner. Im now on hold again for 11 minutes waiting for a live person. Automated system told me wait time is 4 minutes. Now I've been transferred to a voicemail. Save yourself the hassle, use a different company. Adding - i used this company 3 years ago as well, no problems.

Negative experience: I used this online course 3 years ago and had a great experience. Then they decided to "fix something" that was NOT broken and this system is an absolute WASTE OF TIME. Many of the quiz questions are completely irrelevant to being a good defensive driver. For ex: who, other than a mechanic, needs to know how many components make up a vehicle? The system punishes you for not memorizing information like that. I made it through 14/20 chapters, passing every quiz, but when I got up to the 14th chapter and failed a test because I can't memorize information like the above, which is irrelevant, it sent me back to the VERY BEGINNING of the course, after I had spent ALL DAY getting to that point. Customer Service blames the state DMV requirements for this, but it is absolutely this course that is setting people up to fail. The technology on this website is horrible - glitches out, doesn't work properly, goes very slow, making something that should only take a few hours, take much longer. AVOID Improv at all costs. I am getting a refund and starting over on another website.

Negative experience: When I took the course 2 months ago, I had no issues. Everything worked smoothly. Just recently, my husband tried to take the course and had nothing but trouble. He was never able to log in. It took forever for someone to answer his text. And when I called, they gave us a temporary log in but it only worked once. They told me he would have to call them every time he wanted to log in for another temporary log in...that's ridiculous. I think I would look at another place to do the course next time.

Negative experience: Due to technical issues on their end, after I finished chapter 15 (3/4 of the way completed) the system kept glitching and saying I did not answer 2 of the 4 end of chapter questions correctly, even though my answers were correct. I reached out to customer service, they were aware of the glitch but told me there was nothing they could do and I would have to start over again from chapter 1, even though it was a system problem. What a complete waste of time and horrible customer service. I used them twice before with no issue, however, I would not use them ever again and would advise insurance companies to no longer recommend them.

Negative experience: The product is fine with one minor nitpick: IT. DOES. NOT. WORK! In my time I've seen bad websites and terrible websites. This is a whole new level. What is supposed to be a beaten to death, boring "review materials, view videos, answer questions" UI is what I consider a focused attempt to drive me to suicide by banging my head against the wall. Pages don't load (never mind a cute steering wheel animation). The instructions on the page literally say "press the orange "Continue" button. In case the button does not appear, call our customer service." (What?!?!?!). The cartoon quizes have buttons that are misaligned with an active area so you have to press many different points in the picture until you happen to hit it - I can go on and on. At the same time there are some design decisions that make me freeze mouth agape, like insisting on 10 (that is, TEN) security questions. If I provided truthful answers, I would argue that Improv knows me much more intimately than my mother and my wife do. But those are put to good use: you are being prompted with one of those every time you refresh the page (you'll do it a lot since, as mentioned before, the webapp doesn't work). Advice to Improv folks: fire your engineering and product people with prejudice. Build the website from scratch, there's nothing to scavenge here.

Fantastic experience: I had to write a review for IMPROV based on how easy it was to get my defensive driving certificate. I have GEICO and they listed IMPROV along with 3 others for the online defensive driving discount. I tried the other 3 and believe me IMPROV's system is the best. They verify if its actually you using a typing screener. That's it. No bs calling every module and saying a number within a limited time like the others. I couldn't recommend this more. I will be using them again the next time I have to take this course.

Negative experience: Terrible customer service. They advertise being available 24/7 but never are, even during what should be normal business hours. Hold times are extraordinarily long when actually successfully in getting someone on the line. Driving simulations are especially hard to complete on a cellphone.

Fantastic experience: This was my second time taking the course, because I liked it so much the first time that when my certificate was expiring, I went straight to Improv to do it again. The jokes can be silly but they still make me laugh. In some courses you feel like its just a lecture or you are being talked down too. Not this one. The instructor talks like he is your friend and puts everything in a manner that is easy to understand and learn. I highly recommend this course. I know I will be back in three years.

Fantastic experience: Improv Defensive Driving course is interactive. They show videos that are enjoyable to watch followed by reading material. All material presented is very informative and it really sticks in your mind as you are driving. This is my second time taking the course and I will return in 3 years. They give you plenty of time to take the course so you can break it up over time. The quiz after each section is pertinant to what you just learned.

Fantastic experience: This was my first time taking a defensive driving course online vs in-person. Left to my own devices, I wasn't sure if I would be disciplined enough to stay with the course through the end, but the IMPROV Defensive Driving course made it entertaining and easy. Regardless of the reason for taking the course, it's not a bad idea for ALL drivers - no matter how long they've been behind the wheel - to take a refresher course on safe driving. Fantastic experience: A great refresher and enjoyable. It’s a little long but the entertainment is great . The course leader is Steve Verrett is great and does a marvelous job. Surprised to know he was discovered by Bill Maher who had to take his course and enjoyed him so much that Maher invited him to do standup at a comedy club nearby! Definitely worth it

Fantastic experience: This Online Course is better then sitting in a Classroom trying to be like a sponge and get all the information you can. I did this for my Defensive Driving Insurance but learned a few refreshers that needed to be reminded so I can stay as the Good Driver I am. Fantastic experience: Before I decided to go with IMPROV I ordered the defensive driving course from two other places and it was a horrible experience and I got a refund. Finally I ordered from IMPROV, I should I have ordered the course from them them the start. The order experience was smooth, simple and I enjoyed taking all the courses. The funny videos and little cartoons made doing the courses very enjoyable. I would definitely take the course from them again in the future!

Fantastic experience: It’s a very convenient way to take the course. The jokes although corny keep it light and entertaining. So much better doing it at your own pace at home. No more classroom for me.

Fantastic experience: The course was great and much better than any other on-line or in person defensive driving class that I have taken. There were a few technical glitches but their phone support was great and the glitches were easily fixed. This course is great if you have Geico insurance because within 24 hours Geico received the certificate of completion from them.

Fantastic experience: I'm a senior and I have limited computer knowledge no cable. It was easy because any question I called the # and got immediate help even when using the computer at the library.you can stop and start again at another computer. Definitely I recommend!

Fantastic experience: I am required to take a defensive driving course for the non-profit organization I drive and volunteer for. Let's face it, the subject is dry, but the presentation is informative and humorous in a way to keep it interesting. Hard to do, but this company managed to thread the needle!

Fantastic experience: Much better than past years in regards to why the class is really important to take. The descriptions of what can go wrong when you are not abiding by the rules of the road are scary and made you want to pay attention

Fantastic experience: This is my second time taking the course for my 3 year renewal. Over the last 6 years I enjoyed a nice discount because of the course. But more importantly I have actually believe it or not learned some valuable rules and regulations that I was previously unaware of. That along with the intuitive an fun way they present the material made the decision to go with them a no brainer.
