Fantastic experience: I was an anxious driver who needed someone to give her good feedback on her driving abilities. I had been practicing driving off and on for about 2 years but never really got feedback from my friends and family because they didn’t know how to explain or show me how to drive safely. So I booked a 2 hour Behind the Wheel sessions with Richard Castillo. I did my first hour of driving with Richard and he helped correct my turning technique, and gave driving tips to make it easier to understand what to do in all settings. I took a month to myself to practice everything Richard taught me and it bettered my driving instantly. I did my second hour with Richard a month after my first session and he said I had improved a lot, he also taught me how to parallel park (his method makes it UNBELIEVABLY easy) in this session. At the end of this second session Richard told me he thinks i’m ready for my driving test. I was able to schedule the driving test with ayala and associates for the next day! I passed no problem. I gained confidence while driving and a license thanks to this driving school and my instructor Richard Castillo!!

Fantastic experience: I got to know about this driving school through my neighbor in my apartment. I am from India and have fair experience in driving there. However, the shift from left to right side of driving on the road was challenging. But this school has a bunch of excellent teachers and testers. I took 5 classes. My teachers were : Mr. Gutierrez - Known for his friendliness and easy going nature, constantly encouraged me to get better at driving. Mr. Salais - Though he does not speak much, he is a focused teacher and nurtures you to do better at driving, so you could handle the test. Mr. Castillo - I liked the way he teaches with warmth. He is such a positive person and his encouragement and tips to pass the test is certainly appreciated. Mr. Alonso - My tester, again, he was very simple and clear with this communication. I did not feel the pressure of the test while driving with him. Appreciate your professionalism. Last but not the least, the employees who take those calls to assist us with booking the class and test. Though they receive so many calls everyday, I never felt they were tired of those calls. Savannah and Mickey, thank you so much for your kindness and help. Your customer service is deeply appreciated. Overall, this school has the best team. Thank you and good luck!

Fantastic experience: I took two class of 1-hour-behind-the well with Professor Castillo, I highly recommend him as an instructor if you want to know all the skills to pass your road test! He was very patient, and shared some good tips. He is conscious of how busy life is and propose some hours outside of the ones displayed on the website! It was so helpful because I really needed to take my exam as soon as possible! Thanks to his advices the exam went smoothly and I passed it!

He really helped her on parallel parking, maintaining consistent speed, and staying centered in the lane. Negative experience: These people allow their students to ride the brakes all while going 20 mph in a 35 mph zone. Car # is C3207. All the 5 star reviews must be friends and family because this place is not training their students to drive correctly.

Fantastic experience: This review has been difficult to write, but not for the reasons you would expect. Mr. Richard Castillo was amazing in helping to schedule, train, and prepare our teen driver for the driver's test. His ability to teach and impart knowledge is only surpassed by kindness. Mr. Castillo did not know our daughter had recently lost her grandfather. His (Mr. Castillo) patience, speech, and demeanor reminded us a great deal of our loved one and gave comfort to us all. We feel Mr. Castillo was a blessing to our family & teen driver in helping her achieve this milestone. Without a doubt, we will bring our son to learn from him. I really got lucky to get Mr. Richard, as my instructor, who really gave me good tips not just to pass a test but those tips really helped me for my day to day driving. Fantastic experience: I passed my adult driving test today, and I have Ayala Driving School to thank for it - particularly Mr. Richard Castillo. I took the 7-hours behind the wheel, and chose to drive with him throughout - as an anxious, nervous adult driver who was afraid of TX roads and vehicles, I wanted to learn with someone who was experienced and had a strong record; Mr. Castillo's reputation as the instructor of choice preceded him, and he delivered at each instance of all my driving lessons. Mr. Castillo proved to be the perfect instructor for me, and I understand why he was recommended for adult drivers - he's caring, friendly and supportive, but is very detail-oriented and assertive: he will not hesitate to help you improve or correct you at the right time, which is critical for any instruction, especially something as responsibility-heavy as driving. I felt supported by his teaching and guidance, and was glad that he let me ask him questions along the way, which helped me become a better driver. I would highly recommend him as a driving instructor, and Ayala Driving School for anyone seeking to get their driver's license. The school staff, especially Mikey, were very helpful, patient, prompt and professional. The website is very clear with information as well. It can be tricky to schedule slots for driving lessons (especially if you want to pick your instructor), because they fill up super quick, but I was proactive and prompt with my approach, and so I was able to get consecutive weeks for the slots I wanted, with the instructor I wanted. I also completed the driving test with them, and it was well-scheduled and executed. Kudos to the team!

Fantastic experience: This driving school really helped me a lot, and helped me gain a lot more confidence with my driving as I took lessons with them. I would highly recommend Richard Castillo. He is a great teacher and helped me pass my driver's test easily. He is very nice and is willing to work on the skills that you believe you need the most improvement on, as well as encouraging you through your driving journey.

Negative experience: I will not advise you to go to this place if you really want your driver license. They don’t have enough instructors for students. Almost seems as a scamme. The booking process is horrible to get in. It’s like play lottery with you own money for.

Fantastic experience: This was a great location to start learning how to drive! Enough traffic to allow you to experience the road with other drivers on it especially during school hours. This place really shines in their Driving Instructors! Namely, Mr. Castillo who had plenty of patience when working with me. Fantastic experience: I was a complete amateur in driving and had the driving phobia too. Just in matter of few classes, Mr. Richard Castillo changed my POV completely and the confidence he added with each class passing by, is outstanding! Parallel parking, steering balance, turns, was very smooth when I started learning under him. Amazing Instructor! I went from 'struggling with all driving skills observation and decision making' to 'You have Good control of the car as we drive, and your parallel parking is GREAT'. Folks, Mr. Castillo can teach anyone to drive!! The staff are also very helpful, but you have to be meet them in person and are very less communicative in phone. Fees are also reasonable. Negative experience: My daughter has paid these people and they keep making excuses about not having time to give her the lessons she paid for. They refuse to answer or return her calls. We want our money back. Her permit is now getting ready to expire. We had to drive all the way to Kerrville for it. I do not want to have to spend gas and money driving to another location again. Other wise trying to make an appointment in S.A. will take months.

Negative experience: This is NOT the same school as prior years. My 4th student is going through Ayala and it's a poop show in comparison to the older 3 kids. I'm sure the driving instructors are still wonderful but the organization/office admin and trying to get in for driving lessons is a nightmare. If I could go back and go anywhere else I would for my 4th driver. We will likely be unable to get in to start our driving lessons, and it's been MONTHS. You have less than 2 minutes at exactly 2 pm on Monday to try to get into a driving lesson before 1 week is completely full. It is so stressful and it's ridiculous! I don't buy the positive reviews.

Fantastic experience: I had the 7-hour adult driving package, and I took the last two hours with Mr. Castillo. He was very thorough in his explanations and helped me with parallel parking. If you are an adult student, I highly recommend booking sessions with Mr. Castillo as soon as you can. The other instructors are cool too but he is the most hands-on with older students.

Fantastic experience: For the longest time I was so terrified of driving, and the more I put it aside the more anxious it made to think about even doing. With this being said, I finally passed my driving test! thank you Mr. Castillo! I 100% recommend Mr. Castillo, he made the entire learning process so much relieving to get through and truthfully wants to help you get better. Negative experience: Update: I finally got all 7 hours of instructor driving done. I literally was on my computer everyday constantly refreshing the website waiting for an opening. However, I should have read the fine print more carefully. When I signed my child up months ago I specifically asked if the school takes the student from beginning all the way through to road testing to get the license because I do not have the time to teach myself and I was on a time crunch thus the reason for hiring a school to do it. Needless to say I’m not happy to find out I (the parent) has to do 30 hours (out of the 37 required hours) of behind the wheel observation with my child before they can take the road test. If I had known I had to do majority of the teaching, I would have just done it all myself and saved a ton of money. _____ I may have overpaid for the school for my child. The classroom part was ok no problems there. The second part with instructor practical driving course is a huge problem! I had assumed during the classroom session they would be coordinating with students to get the driving portion done. But Nope. I have to go online to their portal and schedule a time but it’s first come first serve. You are competing with all current students and all prior students that hasn’t done it yet. So it is always full even on the day when the new schedule is out. You literally will have to be on your computer 24/7 waiting for a spot to open so you can grab it.

Fantastic experience: Parallel parking was something I was always a little nervous about. I was always scared to hit something when reversing and overall just didn't know how. Then, Mr Miguel came along and taught me everything I needed to know! When you are driving you shouldn't be so scared and nervous. Mr Miguel really creates a safe space for all of his students and makes them feel comfortable in the car!

Fantastic experience: Done 7 classes 1hr observation and 1hr driving per class. The instructors are so friendly and amazing especially Richard Castillo he gives out pointers and has such a sweet soul we both even sang to bruno mars . With him as my instructor im ready to take the test. Thank you Mr. Castillo you honestly deserve a raise for everything you taught me.

Negative experience: I’ve had a horrible experience at this school. First of all let me tell you that none of these instructors are on the same page with each other. If I would have know that from the beginning I would have only booked with Mr. Richard cause he’s the only one that taught me anything. The other instructors don’t talk and just look at their phones. Mr. S took me out into the main roads (I’m talking access roads by 1604) on my second class when it was supposed to only be neighborhoods. He never taught me anything except to just get in the car and go and if I mess up then he’ll yell at me which makes no sense because how am I supposed to know if you aren’t teaching me anything? Why did i spend almost $400 to drive and not be taught? I could have done that for free!! Honestly I feel scammed by this place. Plus now the this instructor recommends I pay for more classes because I’m not ready! Yeah of course I’m not ready! Y’all didn’t teach me anything! I saved up for this course! I don’t make money like that to be dropping $50 on extra classes cause yall didn’t teach me right. Oh and to make it worse i only got one class left and nobody ever took me to the highway.

He is definitely the best instructor ever! I was so scared of driving and I was literally shaking whenever I’m behind the wheel. Negative experience: I been trying to get driving lessons for the past two months. Scheduling start on Monday at 2 I waited 1:59 three times and still says I have not been selected they don’t answer your calls or you’re text or your email I will not be going here

Fantastic experience: Ayala driving school is the best driving school! The classes were excellent and very insightful and instructors Miguel and Richard are both the best instructors for driving and best explain and help teaching the structure of driving, with Richard’s very insightful and helpful techniques with driving such as turning and parallel parking and Miguel’s funny humor and laxed teaching!

Negative experience: 6 hours class was great, scheduling btw lessons is awful, I do not know why we have to put permit expiration date on our profile if schedule goes to everybody, I thought they ask so they can send schedule to people with permit before it expires. Trying to schedule btw lessons for a month and nothing happened. I recieved emails that a spot is available and before I logged in the spot is not available. I do not like the idea of "watching for one hour and practice one hour" I paid to learn not to watch! Spots are full at 2:00pm if you check before 2 is not posted. We all pay before taking any class but when is time to get options or solutions trying to schedule a btw lesson they are quick to say "we can not save a spot" I did not take me a month to pay why is it taking a month to learn?!

Fantastic experience: Ayala Driving School helped me regain confidence in driving back in the States after being overseas for several years. As an adult driving student who already had a license but wanted to feel more confident on the road, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but Mr. Richard Castillo was very patient, understanding, and helpful in acclimating me to driving back in Texas. He helped me focus on the areas I was most nervous about (highway driving, U-turns, etc.) and helped improve my overall driving ability. Fantastic experience: I took the Defensive Driving course recently. The instructor was courteous, knowledgeable, and answered all my questions and the classes questions correctly. Fantastic experience: this driving school was fantastic in every means, but I do wish there was a standard to how the instructors teach. not to say any of them were unprepared but it would be nice if there wasn't such drastic differences between each instructor in the ways that they teach. but I guess that's just the nature with people and different perspectives lol. Fantastic experience: Mr Richard Castillo was a great driving instructor and he always makes you feel better by applauding you as he sees your driving get better, I went in thinking I knew how to parallel park to mastering it in 2 lessons, his method is fail proof, down to a science. He teaches the route you're going to take on the road test if you take it with Ayala and makes you feel comfortable being behind the wheel and on the road. Fantastic experience: This is the best place in all of San Antonio to get your drivers education. Before I took my 7 hour adult driving classes here, I thought I would never be able to drive. But after driving with Mr. Castillo, my confidence on the road boosted beyond my wildest dreams. He was extremely attentive and understanding when we got behind the wheel. He knows not all of us come from a comfortable or even understanding place when driving. He teaches you the obvious, the basics, and extra tips and tricks while navigating the road that maybe nobody else would have taught you.
