Fantastic experience: The Community Driving School was fantastic for my son Jack. They were professional and accommodating across the board. His driving instructors gave great feedback and were very positive. They all really made Jack feel welcome and he enjoyed the experience.

Fantastic experience: The girl who greeted us at the entrance was very polite and smiling, and the white-haired man I took the driving test with was very professional and approached me with a humorous tone to keep me calm. I definitely recommend this place, my friend had recommended it to me too.

Negative experience: I am not sure how this driving school has as many good reviews as it does. My teen driver has tried to book her three 2 hour driving times with an instructor since June (It is now mid October) and consistently the driving slots with an instructor are not available. My teen called the school to see how she can book an appt since she was consistently not finding anything, and the response was to get online at 12am the 16th of every month in order to have the best shot at finding a driving time for the month that opens (in Oct, it was Dec slots that opened). On Oct 16, she got on in the afternoon to book and the only time left for all of Dec at her location was Dec 18th at 1245pm. This is two days prior to finals, AND in the middle of the school day. The other times she had found prior for Aug, Sept, Oct and Nov were only during the school day. So, instead of her calling again, my husband called to see what exactly we have been missing since June and why we consistently are finding no available times for driving instructors, or only available during the school day. The response was the same: get online at 12am on the 16th of every month in order to have the best shot. The person on the phone with my husband was able to find a slot on Dec 26 and 27th during the day at a location further away from us, but at this point I feel like we will take anything we can get. If you want your new driver to have opportunities for afterschool or weekend driving times, I would NOT recommend this company. I have two more future drivers and I will not be using this school again, nor can I feel that I can recommend this school to anyone given this experience. It seems it has good google reviews which is why I felt good choosing it, but hopefully this review helps others to consider this issue before choosing a driving school. addendum: after I posted this review, Steve with the driving school did call me and spent 20 min on the phone w/ me listening to my side of things and talking to me about how to improve some processes. I do appreciate the time and concern from him. My biggest suggestion is to make more slots available to the teens for their 2 hour drives. It shouldn't be that they cannot book the drives other than one sliver of time on the 16th of every month between 12am-8am (by mid day on the 16th all of the slots for the future 2 months are completely booked).

Fantastic experience: Thomas was my examiner today. The truth is that he was very clear, nice and understanding as my English level is not the best. I was a bit nervous and he helped me to relax and explained the mistakes I made. I came out of the exam very happy.

Fantastic experience: Our son had a great experience here. Instruction was clear and comprehensive. He passed his permit and driving test on his first try. My only suggestion is make sure you schedule the behind the Wheel classes two months in advance. They fill up quickly.

Negative experience: This place is just want to make money off you. The "instructor" notified me that I accelerated to over 25 and at times up to 30, before slowing back down to 25mph. He said that is an automatic fail and a violation. Defined as "Excessive Acceleration". The definition for "Unreasonable acceleration means the acceleration of any motor vehicle "carelessly" or with "disregard" of the rights of others, or in an "unreasonable" manner than endangers or is likely to endanger any property or person, including the driver or passenger of the vehicle." This is B.S. ! He said I can make another appointment (for $80.00) and try again.

Positive experience: Gotta say, the office talk by staff was ridiculously unprofessional. Complaining about ppl asking questions, mocking people after they left. Rolling eyes, impatient, etc.

Fantastic experience: Took me a while to gather the courage to take lessons and take the driving test again after bad experiences with driving schools in Colorado Springs. Not only did the staff give me great feedback on my driving, but they also encouraged me when I was nervous about performing poorly, and reminded me that I wouldn't be perfect immediately. They gave me a lot of courage to keep going, and to my shock, I actually passed the driving test, something I never thought I could achieve. I am forever grateful for all of their hard work in turning me into a better driver and am excited to start improving my driving skills with my new license. Thank you so much, you have no idea how much confidence you gave me!

Negative experience: As others have commented, had the same issues with a certain instructor who kept complaining the whole test. He was rude af when he approached me when we've never met. You DO NOT approach me like that.

Negative experience: On 06-10-2024, I was informed by the DMV I was required to take a driving test to obtain a driver's license. Currently all driving test are taken through a third party, it just so happened "Community Driving school" (third-party), was right next door to Golden, Co. DMV office, great! I scheduled an appointment. While waiting in a small lobby, this Biker walked in. He looked like a "Hell's Angel" very intimdating! Vest, chains, patches, jeans, motorcycle boots, biker beard, knives, ball cap, and dark glasses. It turned out he was an instructor! Everyone else was wearing distinctive Red Polo shirts. This guy looked mean. Another person was with him (student), his body language showed intimidation and nervousness. The Biker was his instructor! I couldn't believe it. Oh, that's his Harley-Davidson parked right in front of the business. All I could think of is "I hope he's not going to be my instructor". He sat at the computer terminal and began entering data. The whole time he was cursing under his breath but I could clearly hear him. I didn't know what he was mad about but boy was he mad. I was already nervous and intimidated by what he was wearing but his demeanor just compounded the anxiety I was feeling. I've watched the History Channel about motorcycle gangs and what they are capable of doing to people, murder, drug trafficking, human trafficking, and illegal gun selling. I was thinking "I hope I don't get this guy, he'll fail me for sure". We'll, he was my instructor. He never introduced himself, just commanding orders, like "I'm in charge and respect my authority". We get started and right away through the first intersection with the flow of traffic, 45 in a 35mph. He practically jumped out of his seat to observe the speedometer, I slowed down but noted his reaction. We drove through the neighborhood focusing on 25 mph speed limit areas. No conversation, just turn right, turn left etc. After concluding the test, he told me I failed, 45 mph in a 35 mph zone (flagrant) So just as I had imagined, was now my reality. I was so nervous. I rescheduled and tested at the Wadsworth office. This time I was ready. Again, "Community Driving school" and guess where? Right next to the DMV. Everyone was dressed appropriately so that was a good sign. I met the second instructor before. He was rude but I think he thought I would be upset for having to re-test but I wasn't, it's just part of the new process for me. The first thing he said to me was "You have a problem?" One of those provoking questions stated in a soft tone, sounds inquisitive but in a harsh tone, super aggressive. I said no, I guess that was his way of creating an environment of authority. We drove around with all the same tricks, shuffle your hands while steering (control), instead of letting the wheel slide through your fingers. 25 mph, even one 15 mph area, complete stops, look left, look right and left again. Anyway he had no choice but to pass me, while maintaining a unprofessional demeanor. "Community Driving Schools", they don't have to be professional because you need them, they don't need you. As a consumer, "Community Driving schools" you get a failing score. M.Lemmons

Negative experience: My friend went there for his driving test to reinstate his driver's license. He is an excellent driver with years of experience. During the road test he was instructed to drive past a school zone and failed for not slowing down at a school zone traffic signal which was not flashing because school was out by the time he drove by.

Fantastic experience: I loved how quick and efficient their service was. I took the driver’s test. From the moment you walk in to in the drivers test, their employees make sure you are at ease and comfortable. Though they had an appointment about 35 minutes after I arrived, they managed to squeeze me in with no problems at all. My tester was so kind and funny too! And the lovely lady in the front even gave me a few pointers before I took the test! So kind ! I would definitely recommend everyone to take their test at this location. Thank you again!!!

Fantastic experience: We decided on Community Driving School for our son's driver's education and could not have been more pleased with this choice. The instructors were informative, experienced, and taught him what he needed to know. He passed on his first try and it was a great overall experience for him AND us.

Negative experience: Awful driving test experience, mostly because of the rude instructor. This school certainly are not in the business of customer service, I guess they profit more from making people uncomfortable and nervous during tests so they have to retake. Went with DriveSafe and found some wonderful human beings who actually cared.

Negative experience: The older man (Not sure what his name is since I don't recall he introduced himself) is very rude, and it was very uncomfortable to do the road test with him. My test was at 8:30. I arrived 10 minutes before that. Once I entered the office he looked very unwelcoming and angry for some reason, then he said that "he's closed now", which is a lie and there was one customer already there. He asked me to wait outside in the cold weather. During the test he kept making rude comments which made me distracted. I would definitely advise against testing with him.

Fantastic experience: This place was super inviting and super kind plus helpful with all the questions I had. I wish I knew the name of the front desk lady, but she was super kind ! I appreciated the way she handled everything so professionally and with kindness. Thank you for this wonderful experience, especially when nerves are high for permits / driving tests.

Fantastic experience: Overall experience was good.. I booked 2 hour safety evaluation and drive test. All ten staffs are friendly and helpful.. Tom was my safety trainer on 2 hrs training session, and he was really helpful for improving my driving skills. Thanks DMV Golden

He followed-up and corrected me accordingly, which I really appreciated. I would recommend this driving school to others. I was able to make an appointment quickly and conveniently online and test the very next day.

Negative experience: Don't go there, the old man working there threat you as piece of sheet, so rude and wants to you pay again for reschedule and pay another $100 saying you do not pass, is not a professional instructor and all time yell to you, find other place better.

You do need to plan ahead on scheduling the 3 drives, give yourself a month as there are limited spots. Great experience!

Having most of my day taken up by the dmv,(also great experience just long process with my case specifically), I was stressed on getting an appointment in time. With three locations available the one in Golden had availability same day!! When I arrived the Lady up front was exceptionally professional, kind, and very informative. The drivers test itself was straight forward and the instructor was also very professional( not in an intimidating way) and the whole process went seamlessly. Truly top notch experience!!!

Fantastic experience: Wonderful experience! Steve was great with his clear instructions. He made my day…finally passed my driving test after failing a couple times. Highly recommend this community driving school. Note: To avoid mistakes during the driving test pay attention to the following; signals, right of way, speeding (don’t impede other vehicles), lane change (SMOG, scanning>checking Mirrors> over the shoulder and then Go, come to a complete stop at the signal, intersection (give way to oncoming traffic) and merge in the correct lanes. Don’t get nervous and enjoy your drive test.

She's a very kind, funny, and patient instructor who knows how to engage with all the students. After taking the test, she explained to me what I got wrong and just did a great job overall! Fantastic experience: I showed up and did a walk-in appointment. I was in and out in an hours time. Everyone was efficient and so friendly and helpful. My license showed up immediately on MyColorado app. The staff explains every step you need to take and even provides links to help you get it done faster. These guys are true professionals!!

Negative experience: I’ve never felt so belittled by a “professional” Rude driving instructor, made me nervous before we even got into the car . He had the audacity to grab my steering wheel while the car was in motion. Thomas Litzsinger is the definition of angry old man full of negativity. If you’re trying to pass your driving test, I would stay far away from this place .

Fantastic experience: Hands down - this is the best driving school in CO! The instructors know their stuff and really seem to enjoy their job. I highly recommend Jaime - she is an incredible driving instructor! My 15 year old daughter was very nervous & anxious on her first drive appt. Jaime was cheerful & encouraging, sensitive to my daughter’s concerns, and very patient with her. My daughter now feels so much more at ease & confident behind the wheel! Thank you!

Fantastic experience: I was at the Golden location about 4 years ago to support a friend. Through weird events I had to go there in 2023 to take a driving test (over the age of 35! )…. Location was clean, office staff was friendly, helpful and informative. Driving instructor was professional, friendly - helped make nerves less after not having to do the test in 20 years - knowledgeable and experienced. All in all, quick appointments made, good staff, clean location. I will be going back to this very location for all other driving tests, classes, etc. for these needs in the future!

Negative experience: The worst experience ever. Racist and rude. I had the worst experience there. The man who examined me, Thomas Litzinger, was angry because “he was tired” and I made him walk 60 steps to my car. While we were walking he told me “are you sure you speak English? Because you are not saying anything”. Then the test began and he started coughing and he said he was sorry. I only said “it’s ok” because I was focused, so he yelled, “do you understand that here when people say something to you, you have to answer?” Then he asked where I was coming from. At that moment I lost all my concentration because I was been harrassed about my accent and my nationality. I'm gonna make a formal complaint at Dmv against this place and this person.

I had Thomas as my instructor for the test who was very courteous and professional while maintaining a comforting and respectful demeanor. Overall excellent experience with these guys and am grateful I chose here to go. Thanks again!

Negative experience: Would not recommend. The man conducting my drive test was extremely rude, didn't even bother to introduce himself, barked instructions at me during my test and did't even tell me why I lost points when I completed the test. The car provided had terrible transmission which I was notified of halfway thorough my test as apparently their usual car broke down. I'm an experienced driver from overseas so I was able to handle it but this would really intimidate new drivers.
