Fantastic experience: Had my test with Ed (I hope I got his name right!). He was a nice guy, gave a fair test, and even though I passed he still gave good advice where to improve.

Negative experience: I am appalled by the apparent conflict of interest upon which this business (and other private driving test institutes) operates and how that seems completely acceptable. They would fail you even if you did an almost perfect test after over five years of clean driving record just to make you take their classes or pay for another test. Ed seems to enjoy this power, though Josh is a kind soul! Good luck.

Negative experience: Sadly this place is not a reputable place and I would highly encourage you to look elsewhere. The elderly instructor we had the unfortunate luck of driving with couldn’t explain the reasons for failing the test besides rambling and contradicting not only what the 30 hour driving course and 6 hour behind the wheel driving states are laws but himself. One reason was for going 4 miles over the speed limit to which he said was illegal to speed but then can back around and stated keeping with the speed of traffic was acceptable. Another reason was not a full stop but then came back and said you don’t have to make a complete stop and even went to the extent of telling my son he can go into the bike lane and make bikes and pedestrians go around him? I asked why his laws/ teaching was different from the other two companies to which he couldn’t answer. This was not only an unfortunate waste of money but also confused me as a driver for 20 years and my first time driver. YIKES!! UPDATE-12/16/24 My son took his driving test with a DMV Approved reputable company and he PASSED! The instructor had no feedback and stated he was an excellent and safe driver. Meanwhile this company sent me a “coupon” for a discounted retest?!? With that and the other previous reviews stating the same thing “they fail your driving test every time” we can safely assume the testing is how they make their money. $100.00 for 10 minutes….. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE! I’ll be sure to let the DMV know About this company and the HUGE discrepancies. Good luck to you and your new driver!

Fantastic experience: I recently moved to Colorado from the UK and panicked when I heard I couldn't just swap my license over here and would have to do a driving test. After driving for 20+ years I knew I'd got into bad habits and was especially nervous adapting to driving on the other (wrong!) side of the road! I live in Louisville and after researching local driving schools and reading their bad reviews I decided to look at driving schools in Boulder instead. Colorado Driving Institute has great reviews and once I got my permit I booked a 2hr brush-up lesson with Josh. He was amazing! He made me feel at ease, explained everything so clearly and was just very kind and filled me with confidence for my test. Today I had my driving test with Ed and I can't say enough nice things about him. He too, made me feel so at ease (my nerves were high for the test!) and dare I say I actually found the test enjoyable (oh, and I passed)! Overall my experience with this driving school has been second-to-none and I highly recommend it to everyone.

Put me at ease with my driving and by the end of it I was feeling much more confident and ready to take the wheel after so many years without driving. I highly recommend him and the institute. Also Larry, I followed your advice and I did not get a boring car, got a mini and she is lots of fun to drive!

Fantastic experience: I took 2hrs driving lessons with Larry and he is very nice calm and giving me all those points that I have to remember and be aware of. I did my driving exam with Ed and I was very nervous ended up failing my test, but I understand after he explained to me why he can't passed me though I was a little heartbroken haha but he is also very calm and nice explaining things I have done that I shouldn't. Told me to practice some more before I take another test and so I did practice. Finally I took my driving test and a got Josh as my evaluator he is very patient with me with all the questions I have and he advised me not to think it like I am having test just think about it as regular driving practice and ease my nerves I am more calm and voilà I passed my test! Thank you CDI! Instructor are very calm and patient with their students!

I deeply appreciate this, as being a non-native English speaker, I was concerned about effective communication. However, I felt very confident and satisfied with the class, thank you.

Fantastic experience: They were super lovely. I took a two-hour lesson with Josh. He went over everything I needed, and we worked on my weaknesses. Since I got my driving license from another country years ago, he made sure to familiarize me with the necessary procedures and signs. Then, I had my driving test with him the next day, and I was confident enough because I knew what I had to focus on and was familiar enough with the roads and the rules. I'm thrilled with everything. I would recommend them to anyone I know.

Fantastic experience: Great spot and great instructor. 1 of only 4 places in NOCO that does motorcycle skills testing, however, the property manager is NOT renewing their range for motorcycle courses. This is a tragedy, and good luck to anyone who needs to get their motorcycle skills test done on the front range. The DMV does not do testing and there are so few places offering it. It will be almost impossible now.

Fantastic experience: I did a one-off highway driving lesson with Larry and found it extremely helpful. I’m not a brand new driver, but someone who learned later in life and am working on gaining more confidence behind the wheel. I got so many great tips from Larry that I’ll be using every time I drive, and I’m already feeling more confident about my driving ability. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for driving instruction at any level.

Fantastic experience: My instructor was Larry and he is really so kind and calm. He gave me lessons on highway and city of Boulder. However, I have read all negative reviews with Drive test and specially with Ed, so I am not thinking to go for drive test here. But yes, to get driving lesson, it is best to have with Larry.

Fantastic experience: I had a really good experience with CDI. For starters, it was super easy to sign up, and the cheapest option for learning to drive. My instructor was very knowledgeable, and I felt very comfortable driving with him. I also learned a lot (shoutout to Larry at the Boulder location) about how to be a better driver. The car they provided was also really nice to drive, as it was very easy to control.

Fantastic experience: It was fantastic. I took a one hour driving class from this school they taught each and every rule. I have driven in India and here it is completely different but they taught very well.

Fantastic experience: Had a good experience with Larry. He provided every minute detail and taught me how to parallel park, take 3-point turn and many basic concepts like how to drive is basically risk assessment in real time, what examiner looks at the test while we are driving, basic do's and don'ts. My test with Josh went smooth, He provided valuable feedback that I should not slow down on turns and how to look at all the blind spots while taking a reverse. I passed the test. That was smooth experience.

Negative experience: My session with Instructor Larry was excellent! He provided top-notch instruction. However, I cannot recommend taking the driving test with Instructor Ed, especially for international students or residents. Despite flawless driving, he failed me on my first attempt, citing minor infractions like crossing a white line or being too close to other vehicles. It seems he will find any reason to fail you. I suggest looking elsewhere for your driving test. Stick with Instructor Larry if you're seeking lessons.

Negative experience: Waste of money. 6 hours of driving. Very little instruction. Didn't do the basics that I specifically asked for - parallel parking.

Fantastic experience: Larry is an amazing driving instructor. I took a couple of driving lessons with him and I got significantly better and confident with each lesson, even though I could barely practice in between the lessons. He is super patient and fun to do lesson with. The manager Tim and Josh have also been helpful. The examiner during my drive test was friendly and gave clear instructions and then gave constructive feedback after the test was over. Overall, a very pleasant experience and definitely recommend it! ps- I was more calm and prepared when I took my drive test the second time and I smoothly passed the test.

Fantastic experience: My son is a new driver and was not to eager to learn to drive. I really appreciate the encouragement the instructors gave my son. They really boosted his confidence and gave a lot of good tips to help with his driving.

Fantastic experience: Driving is a fear of mine, but I decided I would take a step forward in 2024 in conquering that fear. I signed up for a brush-up drivers lesson with Josh, and it was the most perfect thing I could have asked for. We covered neighborhoods, town streets, city streets, mountain driving, and highways. He was very considerate, kind, and helpful, and I already feel less scared about being on the road. Would 10/10 recommend to anyone!

I was so nervous with training and got in to a small space with new people, but they were very nice, skillful and professional. GREAT! 10 OUT OF 10 PS: I successfully past the test after 3 lessons with CDI.

Negative experience: I would avoid this place!! My driving examiner Edward interpreted a "city block" as from a stop light to a 7/11 driveway making me fail. In short, by classifying this 200 feet as a city block i failed. Feels like he wanted to fail me on this tiny detail despite passing all other aspects of the test. Just go somewhere else and hopefully find an examiner who wants you to pass, instead of one fishing for tiny points to mark off.

Negative experience: Honestly I would not do a test here! I had a relatively new instructor who took my test. I felt so overwhelmed from him talking all the time, and it was hard to sometimes listen to what where he wanted me to go. I really did feel like my test was a scam in order for me to just go and spend more money on another test (I ended up taking it somewhere else). I unfortunately also felt a bit disrespected as Spanish is my first language, and I think In Spanish yet speak in English (if you are bilingual you will understand this). and my instructor went straight to say "izquiera, derecho, adelante" in a not so respectful way, more like mocking that he knew the basics. So, honestly go to another place if you dont want to be overwhelmed from someone speaking a good 90% of the test. As someone who is an anxious person, this was traumatizing and not a great experience. It also feels 100% a business rather than wanting to help. I am not writing this for not passing, because he was just doing his job THAT PART I DO GET! However the non stop talking, I don't understand, and asking a couple of people if that's what their testes went to they said "NO ITS A DISTRACTION DUH!" aren't you supposed to be concentrated while taking this? exactly!

Negative experience: If you're looking to take drivers classes maybe it's ok, but if you only want to take the drivers exam to get your license, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. I've been driving for 20 years and failed the exam, the guy told me that I would never pass without taking classes from a them... I passed the exam 2 weeks later in another place...

Fantastic experience: Had a good and peaceful four wheeler drive test experience with the people at Colorado Driving Institute. It was easy to schedule the appointment on their website and on the day of drive test they completed the paper work so quick. The examiner was chill. He gave clear instructions during the test and after completing the test, he gave a good feedback on what all went good and what I should improve on. Overall, a great place for having your drive tests.

Fantastic experience: Very friendly and easy to understand evaluators for my motorcycle 3rd party dmv test. Love that you can book online as well! The whole process was a breeze. The course was clearly labelled as well. A little hard to find if you're not familiar to the area, so leave a couple extra minutes to get to the right spot.

Fantastic experience: My son did his driver's test with Colorado Driving Institute (twice). I thought instructors seemed great, and appreciated the detailed feedback they gave. Learning to drive really takes years, and there are always better habits to work on. It helped reinforce that getting a license doesn't mean the learning and coaching is done.

Positive experience: I had a decent experience. The examiner who did my test was calm, polite, and kind, and reassured me when I thought I had really made a mistake during the test. I had read reviews on here before going in for my test that weren’t so favorable and I was feeling pretty anxious, but I have to say overall I was pleased with the service and the treatment I received.

Negative experience: Letting driving schools administering driving tests for driver's license is an egregious conflict of interest. There are a thousand little things they can do to discourage the test takers who choose to not take their lessons.

Negative experience: This place is a money mill. They will fail you hoping you will come back and get your money again. Most of drivers failed to passed only once. The staff are unsavory at best.

Fantastic experience: I had lessons with both Spencer and Josh. I recently moved to the US from abroad and had a great experience with both instructors. I hadn't driven for over year before having lessons at CDI and had also never driven an automatic car before. Both instructors communicated clearly and calmly and made me feel very much at ease. The testing process went equally as smoothly. I would absolutely recommend CDI to anyone looking to get some training/their test done.

Been driving 30 years in the UK driving stick shift only, then moved to US recently and needed to take test in the US, was super nervous especially as was in an automatic and only driven one years ago, but put my mind at ease and passed straight away. Negative experience: My experience was somewhat similar to the comments posted by 'Heungtella' and 'Swati Kadivar'. I took a lesson with Josh and he was a great, friendly instructor (and the stars are for him only). I then took a couple of lessons with Spencer, who was hostile and unprofessional (on top of having the charisma of a rock, which is not the reason I disliked him). He repeatedly yelled at me during our lesson. He got mad if I did not drive 4 or 5 miles above the speed limit: Since when is it wrong, let alone illegal, to drive 3 or 4 miles below the speed limit? If he felt unsafe with me driving he could just have CALMLY asked me to call off the lesson, or we could have gone back to something more basic; there would have been no need to yell at anyone. He is a young inexperienced guy, and should understand there are professional ways to communicate with students. If you think you might get nervous while learning to drive, do not pick Spencer as your instructor, he will just make it worse for you.

Negative experience: I am not sure how this place such a high rate. I want to give zero star. The instructor was horrible that Spencer could not understand the student’s level and push it really hard to make student nervous. The worst thing is he started 10 mins late because of chatting and ended 15 mins early. Other institute didn’t do that so if you wan’t to waste your money, register in here. After taking lessons here, I got so many fishing calls that I guess they’re selling the customer’s information. Others also pointed out this issue in the yelp. I regret that I didn’t read carefully all the review in the yelp.

Fantastic experience: After a small hiccup at the DMV and that day being the only day I could test, it seemed like serendipity that they had thier last testing slot five minutes after we walked in. The staff was fast and courteous. A very good experience.

Positive experience: The person inside the office can be a bit more into his job. The test driver (Ed I believe was his name) was fantastic and very professional and very much into his job..and he has been doing out for 30 years!

Fantastic experience: It was easy to make an appointment on the website. My road-test evaluator, Spencer, was great; instructions were clear and feedback honest and fair; car was a Prius hybrid in very good shape. Started a few minutes late but was out on time and conveniently walked across the hall to the DMV to renew my license. Roadtest costs in the Denver area ran from $75-$115 and CDI was $80 so good there as well.

Fantastic experience: Nice and very calm instructor. He reassuringly explained my blunders after the test, insuring I won't make the mistake again. The car structure was different from other cars, but the intruder will help you if you are confused.

Negative experience: I did not like the service received, I believe that the evaluator is biased in his statements and I dare say a little xenophobic. I've had my driver's license for 7 years and the appraiser failed my driving test because, according to him, I drove past a stop sign (it was a worker renovating a roundabout, holding a "stop" and "slow" sign). stop" and when the worker turned to "slow" I continued, but the evaluator said that I could not have advanced because the worker did not signal with his hands, which does not make any sense since the signal was "slow" , when I questioned him he said he couldn't do anything.

Negative experience: Instructor seemed distracted, didn’t introduce himself, and at the end of the road test he repeated himself three times, although I indicated understanding the first time, and he then stayed in the car, waiting for what? Awkward? He may lack social skills. He also did not get back to me when I stopped in to complete a contact request form, I had to schedule on line anyway. Just use the other service in Boulder!

He really put me ease while driving though I was failed in my first test, his feedback was so helpful and I was able to pass the test 2nd time with him.
