The ladies who worked at the front were very friendly and helpful, the instructor at the in class was very knowledgeable and kept it very professional. He also made sure you had all the knowledge fully engrained so you were guaranteed to succeed. The three instructors at the yard for the driving part were top notch. I had the pleasure of learning from all three of them. They all made the information very straightforward and easy to learn. Alpha is a great place to get your class A CDL.

Fantastic experience: This is a great school- I completed my Class A with Alpha and the school is flexible, works with any situation that might come up. The girls in the office are wonderful, most of all the trainers out in the yard are great, Chris especially! Chris got my confidence up and next day I got my Class A. Affordability is a huge plus with Alpha. Other Schools wanted to charge me almost double than what they did. This is NOT a fly by night school like most of the others that are popping up. Alpha is a respected school by the major trucking companies and I'm happy to have graduated from it. Word of advice- Listen to your instructors and they will get you pass the finish line. Follow the steps as they lay them out and you will be on the road in no time. THANKS ALPHA! You all were great

Fantastic experience: I had just recently passed and received my Class-A CDL. All the instructors are good guys, in specific, Daniel and Lukas are two instructors I had frequently and they are fantastic. I learned very quickly with them. The instructors while driving the trucks can be hard on you but that is a good thing, it makes you learn quick and retain what is being taught. All n all, I would definitely recommend this school if you plan on getting a CDL.

Fantastic experience: I am writing to express my satisfaction with the results of the past five months of schooling. I am pleased to inform you that I successfully passed my exam today. I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to Gerry and Chris from the classroom for their excellent teaching and willingness to assist and answer any questions. A special thanks to Pedro, Chris from the yard, and Marson (if that is his name). These were the only three instructors I worked with while at the yard, and they all demonstrated exceptional teaching skills. They were friendly and approachable, and I never experienced any harsh treatment from them, contrary to my initial expectations. Lastly, I would like to thank Stephanie for promptly answering any questions I had during my time at the school. I would like to give another special shout out to Pedro. He was at the DMV when I was testing. I had my test today at 12:00 PM and finished at 1:30 PM, but unfortunately, I failed the driving test. Pedro kindly took the truck back to the yard and returned to the DMV. I was fortunate enough to test again at 2:30 PM, and Pedro went back to the yard to get the truck so I could take the test again. I appreciate his assistance and support during this process. Thank you.

Negative experience: First off I would like to say, if you are skeptical of my experience here, read the other 1 star reviews and you will notice all the similarities of how this school operates and treats its students. The classroom portion of the school was absolutely ridiculous and unfair. I won’t get into it that much because they changed it to online classes after I passed it but I’m telling you it was really bad. Here are the things I’ve witnessed/experienced during my time at Alphas yard training. You will always be sharing a truck with 1-2 other students unless you buy a private lesson A lot of the instructors are nice and friendly until you start messing up and then they become very frustrated and aggressive which is literally the opposite attitude you’re supposed to have as a teacher. Myself and another student witnessed a instructor berate a student to the verge of tears despite the fact she said this was the first time she’s ever driven a manual vehicle An Instructor just repeated the last note on my progress log and claimed I drove that day even though I didn’t despite the 5 hours I was there for. Instructors would only take me out driving for 30 minutes even though I’d been there for 8 hours! Instructors not showing up so the owner had to take me on the road and was extremely rude when I made mistakes despite telling him beforehand it was my second time driving and didn’t feel comfortable on the main roads with traffic yet. He also physically slapped my hand away from the shift stick, not for any Emergency reason but because I tried to downshift from 6th to 5th gear before I turned back into the schools truck yard. ALL the Instructors LIE TO YOU about the number of pull ups you get on the skills test (On the parking portion of the test you have 3 “pull ups” to straighten out the vehicle to fit within the parking space) you get 2 free pull ups but if you use 3 you lose a point [one point out of 12]). Leading me to fail one of my skills tests by ending it early and out of bounds because I thought I used all 2 of my chances to fix my mistake. Their training yard had so many old parking lines that aren’t painted over so you can’t even tell which are the old ones and which are the new ones They won’t let me use their trucks to test anymore even though I still have 2 attempts left with the DMV on the driving portion of the test. So I now have to outsource to a third party and rent their trucks. Oh and BTW if you fail 3 times on a test portion and need to wait 30 days to test again (per DMV regulations) the school is done letting you test with their trucks. Do yourself a favor and apply for a WIOA grant. They give it to almost everyone who applies and you’ll be able to take the course for free at any other reputable school. Something I wish I would have done but unfortunately was ineligible for due to a DUI I got 4 years ago. Good luck.

Fantastic experience: The truth was a good experience, the teachers know what they do, good protocols and most importantly, they are understanding.

Positive experience: Very reasonable prices and you can pay in installments if you don't have all the money. Here's the thing though.. all the instructors are super nice and knowledgeable but they don't do the work for you. They're not going to hold your hand. They expect you to be ready to go by studying the material they provide. Good news is they've changed their program so you can do a lot of the in class stuff at home and you don't even have to go in to the classroom as much. They do offer some evening hours and Saturday hours as well. A little disorganized at times but I feel that may be due to the sheer volume of students and the format change that they did. If you do choose alpha, you need to be a self starter. They're not going to chase you down. Additionally, have a list of your expectations and any questions you may want answered before you sign up. I found a lot of details I never considered were not offered freely to me. I had to discover them over time and navigate the process on my own. Overall, I would recommend alpha but only if you can motivate yourself to accomplish the tasks necessary to complete your training

Negative experience: This school is HORRIBLE! Website says they accept GI bill but told me in person they don’t accept it anymore so it’s already false advertisement. Very poor communication, I was told to study pre trip packet and after studying it a week before my exam another student told me I had the old packet and there’s a new pre trip packet the school never told me about. Instructors say pre trip is the hardest but go over it the least. When I first learned the parking the instructor gave me a piece of paper and told me to follow those instructions and stepped off and disappeared when he comes back and sees me struggling he kept telling me that I wasn’t following instructions on the paper. U learn more from other students than the instructors. The school is also very quick to charge u for anything. Students were getting charged $500 just to switch from manual to automatic, if you have to leave the yard early or going to be late it’s $150 for every hour that u will miss. The school is only really flexible during the classroom but not so much anymore because they cut down the hours. Once u in the yard u can make ur own schedule but the school doesn’t care if an emergency comes up they expect u in the yard for whatever time u are scheduled

Negative experience: This school is terrible, I don't know how there are people who recommend this place to get the CDL. I had a bad experience with this school and I really don't recommend it to anyone. I'm not one to give reviews but in this case I feel scammed by this school. INSTRUCTORS YELL AT YOU, DISCRIMINATE AND ARE ABUSIVE TO STUDENTS. IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT ENROLLING IN THIS SCHOOL I SUGGEST YOU FIND ANOTHER SCHOOL, DON'T GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY BECAUSE THEY DON'T TEACH YOU. THEY ALSO PUT 3 STUDENTS INSIDE THE TRUCK AND THEY HAVE TO SHARE THE DRIVING HOURS, SO YOU ONLY DRIVE FOR 15 TO 30 MINUTES, IF THE INSTRUCTOR LIKES YOU, YOU CAN DRIVE LONGER. Of the 20 hours of road driving they offer, they only gave me 2 and an instructor denied me 4 hours and I lost the rest of the hours watching how the other students drove. I reported it to the office, who did nothing since the owner is a friend of the instructors. They only gave me 1 hour of the 4 that they denied me. I took the driving test for 2 times at the DMV and I did not pass which led me to look for another option outside of school and with that I passed my driving test at the DMV I now have my CDL. The school reported to FMCSA that I completed my 160 hours and now the school not want to give me my Certificate arguing that I violated the school's policy when they violated their policy when they did not give me full driving hours because they put 3 students on the truck to save them money and the instructors disrespected me.

Negative experience: most of the instructors are pretty good, informative and knowledgeable. the driving scheduling is a joke. they changed up multiple rules / pre trip practices and things i spent 3 months learning , just to have to add and take away different things. daniel and santiago are by far the best of the instructors.

Negative experience: This is the worse place you can go to my husband went with a work permit to enroll and they told him it was fine he paid his down payment he paid the next payment and when it was time for him to go take his test for the CDL permit the DMV told him that his work permit wasn’t valid for that type of license permit we went back to the school request a refund and they denied it which is very unfair because we showed them all the documentation to the enroll and they said that it was valid and that he would be able to get his CDL license with that I totally DO NOT RECOMMEND IT !!!!

Fantastic experience: Happy to have passed after all the stress. My suggestion would be to take in all of the teaching styles from each instructor, don’t take correction personal(some people can’t stand it), find the best way for you to learn, PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE, and you’ll do fine!

Fantastic experience: Overall, the Alpha school scores 9/10 points. The good side is that - they offer both theoretical and practical schooling - the school is open for a long time every day - There is a good group of instructors - Kris (the best) and Jerry (ok but he sometimes got on my nerves because I wanted to quickly finish my pre-trip inspection but he delayed me despite my pleas, readiness to qualify and my need to finish quickly - he didn't like me :'() In the West Chicago driving area, the instructors are very experienced. Lukasz was the best - he explained everything concisely and with good depth (clutch, clutch, etc... :)) - He could give one demonstration and everything would be clear. The rest of the instructors (Marcin, Daniel, Santiago, Maciek) are good for their roles - although with me there wasn't much work :). The weaker points are that there were too many students and too few instructors and equipment, which lengthened the time until exams. But it is partially understandable that there are many students because it is a good school. I signed up January 24th, and finished the exam March 29th. Moreover, the school has weak communication - students had to learn organization details (like where and when to go) from each other and not from the school directly. There was a lot of stress, nerves, and frustration but also success, which is what fundamentally matters. I recommend this school 100% for CDL training as the small downsides are overshadowed by the large benefits and there is certainty that everyone willing will become prepared and finish school passing the exam. - Wojtek PS I attached a picture which might help future students, and the instructors ;)

Fantastic experience: Ok, ima give y’all the best review of everything that you need to know. You got 6 months to finish the course IDK if the price would change but currently is 3,500 (if you pay all at once like me) you will have to do 160hrs in order to finish. Is divided by 100 class hrs, 20hrs of visual and 40hrs driving. For your first 100 hrs you’ll be watching videos, and practicing to take your permit and studying the pre trip inspection. PD( I highly recommend y’all to take your permit before you start the course so you can have extra time to study even though you won’t really need it, it does come handy if you work full time or if you’ll be busy while taking the class) after you are done with those three you’ll have to pass a simulator test and then you’ll head out to the yard. Once in the yard you’ll be having 20 hrs of observing the truck so you can learn your pre trip better( you can also go to the observation yard while doing your 100 hrs of class) and once you are done with that you’ll have to have your medical card , if you got an insurance that can cover it , then good and if you don’t they got a location where you can go and they’ll charge you 110 for the physical and drug test. After that you’ll be in the yard practicing your skills for 20hrs and your driving for another $20 hrs. In this school they have you ready to drive. Every single instructor at the yard will push your yo learn no matter what, some might be a little tuff like Lucas and Santiago, and others more chill (but still strict) like both martins, maciej and Dani. They are all going to teach their own way, but theyll for sure have everyone who is wheeling to learn snd listen ready by your test date. Its a really good school , they trucks might be a little old, but i think they got some newones ready for a near by future. Ill recomend everyone to come and try this school, ill say it has a 98% rate of everyone passing. Just listen, practice, stay calm and never give up. GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME! and JESUS IS THE WAY! Let him tale the wheel and try your best! Love yall! And thanks to all the instructors for helping me achieve this big goal!!!!!!! Love PD( be patient with Jerry in the in class hrs, he talks a looottttt and might take a long time explaining obvious things so y’all might only be able to watch 1 or 2 videos per day.)

Positive experience: If I could give a 4.5 I would because this school was almost perfect. As a woman getting her CDLs, there’s not much of us out there. Especially ones learning a manual transmission. The classroom instructors and yard instructors didn’t treat me differently from the guys. They were just as hard on me. The school was tough but I learned soooo much taking this course. One thing I would change is how they do their observation hours. You have 20 hours of learning the inside and outside of your tractor and trailer, during my 20 hours no instructor was there to assist with any of my questions so I was basically on my own learning a pre trip. Other than that everything else was great! I would like to give a shout out to Chris-classroom instructor, Dan and Lukas- yard instructors who believed in me. They were a bit tough and mean, but I took that as motivation. It showed that they cared and knew I had it in me to pass and today I passed!!! Thank you Alpha!

Positive experience: Excellent class room instructors Chris and Jerry, this school worked great for my work schedule working full time. I would have gave them 5 stars but they need to train the girls in front better, they lack of professionalism communication skills. Either then that all instructors where professional and answerd my questions. Yard instructors Santiago, Lukas, Daniel, Maji and Martin where very good and pushed me hard to learn the skills I needed for CDL. THANK YOU ALL

Negative experience: Discouraged me a lot from learning manual. I requested truck 4 to have a longer seat belt since I'm a shorter woman and they haven't fixed it. In the Elgin location the instructor quit so they had to get a driving instructors to fill in on certain days. The videos they show in class are outdated and they don't put effort in the learning material. If I had to do it again I would've chosen a different trucking school. The office ladies are nice tho *in response to the owner My instructor even said he'd put a request for a longer seat belt. He never mentioned to me about a safety belt extension that I would have to provide for myself
