Ok. I clearly don't understand your generation.

1) You stated I took phone calls. My response: Yes, I did.

The phone calls told me that both my sister and 94 year old father had tested positive for Covid-19! I was shocked, shattered and heart broken during the first moments of that call. I did take another call from the doctor to get more information on their status. You also listened to this call with the diagnosis and care plan from the doctor.

Let me put it like this -

IF you EVER choose 'job' over family in a family emergency then you have the wrong job, wrong family OR wrong heart! I chose with my heart and would again. I took the calls.

You stated I should have notified you of their diagnosis before the lesson. If you think about this one, the call came DURING YOUR LESSON - which makes alerting you before - impossible.

Next, you stated that I would 'push on your thigh.' You had 3 lessons (6 hours) and never mentioned this. BUT I will explain how I don't touch anyone. With your hands at 10 & 2 = my left hand can move to 3 or 5 on the side of the wheel to make any wheel adjustments to keep the car on the road. Unless your thighs are around the wheel - there will be no touch. You could have also moved the wheel up higher if needed. Everything adjusts.

Your brother (Malibu JoneZ) wrote that he didn't like my political opinion and thought I was unprofessional for my thoughts. OK - here's my response. We are all human, we all have opinions (they are like belly buttons - we all have them) and sharing ones opinion is called a conversation which we do have in the car. We talk about driving laws, rules, crazy drivers, thoughts .... and what ever comes up to help a student relax.

And finally - should you get that phone call to tell you your family has COVID - take it. You will want that week or day or just one more moment to tell them all you wish you had before. And if you have a chance to have a conversation with someone else - just do it. And hope you learn something, discover the differences , expand on the topic , look at your world in different ways and grow.

1.) Your sister was driving when I got the phone call from the doctor telling me my father and sister had tested positive for Covid. You and your sister learned the news when I did. So - expecting me to notify you before the lesson - when the doctor called DURING the lesson - is just impossible.

2.) Telling you to 'let off the brake.' Yes, I did say that. It isn't nagging - it is teaching. So - let off the brake, relax and learn to press & let off smoothly to gain better control.

3.) You don't like my opinions. OK. Not a problem. Just pick different topics. During the drive, I do try to keep conversation moving so I know a student is alert, getting comfortable and responding. It also helps gage their nervousness, fear etc.

4.) Finally, I do charge up front for lessons (all schools do) when students ask me to hold specific days/times just for them. Paying up front assures me the student will attend and helps me plan how many students I can take each week to control my schedule.

It's ok to start or stop any kind of lessons with or without a reason. I just think trashing a service or person is not ok especially when we've had days and hours together and at no point did either of you make any suggestions. I would tell you my ideas to practice and what to do each day and each day, you were both happy with the choices. Good communication is also a part of all learning. It's a challenge.
