Our knowledgeable instructors will ensure that you are equipped with the tools that you need to be a safe and confident driver – for life.

Students between the ages of 15 ½ and 17 ½ years old are required to complete a drivers education course before they can obtain their learners permit or drivers license in California. Here are the required steps they will need to take:

This is where it all starts! I Passed Driving School follows strict guidelines set by the California DMV. The student driver is required by law to complete a total of 6 behind-the-wheel hours with a licensed California DMV instructor to obtain their license before turning 18. We take those 6 hours a break them up into 3 two-hour lessons. Once the student driver satisfies the 6-hour requirement, they will receive a 6 hour behind-the-wheel Certification of Completion immediately after completing the third and final lesson. This certificate is required by the California DMV to be eligible to take the behind-the-wheel drive test.

Your student driver will have 3 two-hour one on one driving lessons in our fully covered and insured vehicle with a licensed California DMV instructor. Each of our male and female instructors empower their students to take control over their driving lessons by building behind-the-wheel confidence step by step. Our instructors are trained at gauging the students progress and mastery of the road; and each of our instructors provide your student with a great deal of knowledge on drivers safety do’s and dont’s. The time with our instructors will give them the tools that they need to succeed in being a good driver and passing the DMV drivers test.

Parents have a personal stake in their student drivers success. It’s required by the California DMV that every student driver receives a total of 50 hours outside of the 6 hour behind-the wheel training (40 hours day time driving and 10 hours night time driving) with someone over the age of 25 and who has a valid California drivers license. We recommend staggering your 50 at-home hours in between each of our 3 lessons so that your teen driver will improve exponentially. It also helps us access your students progress throughout the 3 lessons. Parents, The I Passed Team is here for you, and we want to make this process easy on you. Then every employee visits the doctor’s office for a physical exam. We find out from the physician whether they think they are fit to instruct. Once they pass their physical and background checks, we take our instructors on an extensive training course that’s approved by the California DMV. Each instructor is also drug tested prior to employment and on a regular basis during employment. Each potential instructor is required to complete 60 hours of driving instruction with a current California DMV licensed instructor in addition to completing and passing a rules of the road 50 question written test. It’s our #1 goal to let the parent, teen, and adult student drivers know that we take every precautionary measure to ensure your teen or adult driver is in great hands.

The DMV WILL NOT issue a CA Drivers license beginning at age 16 unless you have completed your 6 hours of Behind-the-Wheel training and obtained your completion certificate from a DMV accredited licensed school.
