We’re more than just your local driving school. Excel is a 35-year-old family business, that has come to be regarded as an industry leader. We help to put scores of new teens and adults on the road everyday with a simple mission: provide students with the highest quality driver’s education, which means arming them with the knowledge to be responsible, well-grounded stewards of our rough and tumble roadways.

We provide an up-to-date curriculum that goes beyond the minimal state requirements, convenient locations with a modern classroom setting, and flexible schedules at an affordable price. We also strive to instill peace of mind, making sure to stay actively engaged throughout the process. Here, you will graduate with the knowledge to be a safe, defensive, courteous driver.

No two students are alike. Knowing this, Excel Driving School has programs designed to meet any student’’s needs. We offer convenient, customizable packages that start with the Illinois state required basics and can be designed to meet the needs of all learners.

Whether you just want to refresh your skills, are a first time driver, or a nervous wreck when it comes to getting behind the wheel, we’ will help you gain the freedom you want and deserve.

We are constantly growing and now offer several convenient locations to better serve customers. Our classrooms are specifically placed near high schools, making it convenient for students who prefer to walk or ride their bike, saving precious time for parents with busy schedules.

Excel Driving School is approved to administer the Cooperative Driver Test (DMV Road Test) for all students enrolled in the Teen Driver’s Ed Program. Students under the age of 18 can purchase the Co-op Driver Test as an add-on to their package, to be administered by a certified Excel Driving Coach after completing their state required program (conditions apply). If successful, students will receive digital documentation showing completion of the driving exam, allowing them to skip the road test at the DMV when applying for a driver’s license.

Experiencia fantástica: We absolutely loved Excel in Wheaton! Ms. Mary was outstanding to work with! She’s organized, communicative, and a great driving instructor. My son completed the classroom portion with her as well as Wheaton Academy. It was convenient and the transition to driving was seamless!!! Thank you Excel for championing such great instructors like Mary! Keep up the great work!!!

Experiencia fantástica: When my daughter was taking driving courses and driver's training behind the wheel at a different private driving school, it was near impossible to get appointments. To be fair, it was Covid time so that was obviously a huge factor. Now, as my son has been with Excel, we are easily able to find a class to attend that worked with his schedule. Scheduling drives has been incredibly easy. And, after the first 2, he and his driver's trainer behind the wheel would schedule between the 2 of them which was excellent. So after each drive, he had at least 2 more scheduled. I also really appreciated that we could skip the observations (for an additional fee) and replace with another behind the wheel drive instead. I thought that would be a more beneficial exercise than sitting in the back seat of the car. Also, we are able to take the driver's test for the DMV through Excel (for an additional fee) so on license day we only need to show up and get his license. Also, he's a good driver but after all the behind the wheel he always tells me what they worked on and I notice he's always a bit sharper in his driving after sessions. Also, anytime I've had to call in, the people I've spoken with have been friendly, responsive and professional. I highly recommend.
