Safe Driving School of The Piedmont: Reviews
Fantastic experience: If you want to trust where your chikd is going , this is where you have to go. Her and her husband Ricky are #1 . Even if you live in Martinsville like I do , please take your child there. Do not waste time and money on the places here in Martinsville. They are awesome. Between instructions and experience. Being polite and knowledgeable I wouldn't trust anywhere else!!
Thank You!!! your comments were awesome and make Stacie and I very proud to read your comment. But I'm old enough to be her dad.
Thanks again Ricky Safe Driving School of The Piedmont
Fantastic experience: Ricky is simply the best!
Negative experience: While the program itself was effective in accomplishing its objective, the teacher and owner, Ricky, is completely unprofessional. He degraded the students when they got answers wrong and shamed them. Personally, I have ADHD which is considered a learning disability due to how it affects the mind. This being said, We are given an exam at the end that we must pass to get the needed certificate to take to the DMV. On this exam, there were three questions (out of a total of 47) where I ended up crossing out my original answer when I realized I misunderstood said questions. After changing my answers to the correct ones, I turned in my exam. I got every question right. However, when my dad came to pick me up, this grown man had the audacity to look at my father and say “She is a bad reader.” His tone was not playful or lighthearted, he sincerely diagnosed me as a bad reader due to 3 questions i misunderstood (Ps, I read books everyday and it is my favorite hobby). Though that might not seem like a huge deal, not only did he speak negatively in front of the person he was speaking about, but he also said it to my father which he had no right to do. He never followed up with any positive attributes or strengths of mine after the incorrectly diagnosed insult, only degrading me to my father about something that wasn’t even true. These students who come to him (specifically for the class I was taking with 10 others) already have low self esteem and low confidence. After all, the reason we are in there is for failing our learners exam 3 times. Yet, despite this, he chooses to only say negative things about the students in his class. I am appalled that he ever thought it was appropriate to say to the parent of a child, IN FRONT of the child no less, that they are bad at something (especially when said diagnoses has no evidence behind it and it’s simply a misguided opinion). He is in no way sensitive to his students or their feelings nor invisible struggles they may be facing. My anxiety was high during my exam which also affected my reading comprehension skills due to not knowing if I fail if that would mean another $200 my parents would have to pay for me out of pocket again, something we can’t afford. All in all, while the course is affective it’s not worth your child’s confidence being destroyed. I’m not a cryer, but something about the fact he had said it to my father- my role model- in front of me, caused me to burst into tears in the car. My parents were furious at his behavior.
Fantastic experience: As the mother of a former student who was homeschooled we looked tirelessly for the BEST option for instruction. Ricky was not only “knowledgeable” he was absolutely phenomenal in his communication with the students in his class and bent over backwards to find ways to get the students engaged and participating in the lessons to help ensure an understanding of the material. I’d give this man and his school 1000 stars if possible.
Thanks.
Negative experience: If I could give zero stars I would. I have no doubt the driving instructor is knowledgeable, but he is inappropriate with students.
Fantastic experience: My son excelled with Ricky at Safe Driving. Ricky is very knowledgeable, personable, and enjoys working with teens. A trifecta! His team knows the inherent pitfalls with teenagers obtaining a driver's license with the Virginia DMV, where teens tend to screw up, and offers proven solutions for both. He is an excellent instructor.
Thanks
