911 Driving School of Yelm: Reviews
Negative experience: I have used 911 for my two oldest children. I definitely gave them the benefit of the doubt with my daughter, coming out of Covid… No make up classes available and next to zero drive times available to schedule in Yelm. We had to go to Lacey for the majority of our drives which defeated the purpose of trying to stay local. I convinced myself that it was just due to Covid and paid for my son to attend classes. Well… don’t miss a class in Yelm because you will have to go to Lacey or Tumwater to attend a make up. And any make up classes available will be well after the session ends. Ie: my son missed lesson 8 because of a school activity. His soonest make up option is the weekend after the ENTIRE program ends. So he still has to take scheduled tests weeks before the curriculum he is allowed to make up. You are also only allowed to schedule one drive at a time, even though they are required to perform 5 drives. As a mother of 3, it’s hard to figure out a schedule that works for everyone, but throw in only being able to schedule a drive on a week by week and that makes it almost impossible. I tried talking to the receptionist in Yelm and she told me there are no exceptions for scheduling, only one at a time.
Negative experience: This place was the most unhelpful it said the the desk person would be back at 4 we waited 30 minutes past 4 and no one showed do not go here bad customer service and no shows to there own job
Negative experience: This driving school is a joke. They are never on time for drives or drives tests. This has been an ongoing issue. I would think as a professional they would try and set an example to be on time. Today we waited 20 minutes for an instructor to show up for my granddaughters drivers test. No one ever showed up.
Fantastic experience: I came in and one of the employees didn't come in for work because of a schedule mix up and the instructor took over the role of signing everyone in and grading the papers. He could have easily turned everyone away, but he didn't. Very patient person he even accepted a student that didn't have cash on hand (he couldn't accept credit or debit because he didn't have access to run cards). Overall, it was a great experience, and I was happy not to have to reschedule.
Negative experience: Terrible!!!
Negative experience: Just waisted $70 here for the instructor to wrongfully grade my test twice, if you want your license don’t go here.
Positive experience: Instruction is great. Customer service is horrible. It’s next to impossible to get someone on the phone. They don’t even return voicemails. They tell us to schedule drives in person, but no one is ever at the front desk (at least the last 5 times I walked in there). I want to give this place 5 stars so badly … I just wish they could be stronger in the customer service department (especially with how high the cost is).
Negative experience: The instructor always check the test crooked, make me wonder if he was intentionally doing it to give people additional mistakes or if he was really honest with grading the test. They need to upgrade their grading system and know the knowledge test by heart. The little holes that they color to check the results is not really effective, you don’t really know if they’re making a mistake checking the tests, I feel like these instructors know nothing about the tests they’re grading, several students asked questions and they repeat the questions on the test without answering the questions! The state should really check on these people and have someone come to their facilities to audit the testing process see if they’re really doing their job or they’re just scamming people into taking the tests repeatedly!
Negative experience: So far they aren't ever available to take my call, so I haven't even gotten to try to set an appointment or anything...
Positive experience: I haven't signed up yet, but Michelle was very helpful and informative! Thank you
Negative experience: The written test is misleading with not relevant questions with misleading wording in the answers. It is designed to make you fail so you have to pay again. In Colorado the DMV administers the with much lower charge the fact that Washington State have you taken your test through a private outside company owned by police officers. His a scam padding their pockets. And they won't give you the questions you got incorrect. In my opinion it's a scam bleeding citizens of hard earned money
Negative experience: It went all good at first they scheduled my appointment for Tuesday in yelm a week prior. Then all of a sudden I got a gut feeling to call the place to see if my appointment was still scheduled for Tuesday in yelm. Nope! All of a sudden I gotta schedule it for Tumwater. If you need to take the knowledge test go to yelm. But other than that there receptionists are lazy and don't do there job correct when it comes to scheduling appointments.
Negative experience: Forcing you to use their vehicle and still making you pay the full $80. Pretty bad business model.
Negative experience: I like the company, but their hours are not convenient to get ahold of someone if you have a question. The longer I have to deal with them the worse it gets. Say they will call you then dont. Schedule for a drive out of the office you did all of your testing and class time and show up for your final drive and find out they scheduled in lacey instead. Yelm and Lacey are NOT interchangable!
Fantastic experience: Its lit
Fantastic experience: As a photographer for Google's Streetview program, I've had an opportunity to visit countless businesses. The folks at 911 are awesome and all 3 of their business locations are absolutely immaculate. The instructors by corporate mandate are either police officers or emergency 1st responders. My son went here and received excellent instruction. Highly recommended. BTW: I spoke with the owner Sonya because I was surprised by several negative reviews posted here. I learned they were due to one 'bad apple' who was subsequently fired for not upholding 911's high standards.
Negative experience: This school uses anyone as an instuctor. Anyone other than law enforcement, as they claim. Bottom line..be careful which package you pay for because you'll never get a refund for overpayment. The ownership (Yelm, Lacey, Tumwater) only care about one thing, your money, and they leave little to be desired.
Negative experience: Terrible customer service, totally rotten experience, wouldn’t recommend to anyone. The website for the location in Tumwater said they were open from 12-2 so I got there at 1:15 and they told me I had to go to the location in Yelm (over 45 minutes away) the next day anytime in between 2-4. When I asked if I could reserve a time they said it wasn’t necessary because their office wouldn’t be busy. The next day I got to the location Yelm at 3:15 and they said that they didn’t have any instructors available for the rest the day. I will definitely find a different place to take my test because they treated me like garbage. It’s almost as if they think it’s funny to waste potential customers’ time. If I could give a 0 star review I would.
Negative experience: I caught an instructor having a student speed through our neighborhood and run a stop sign to teach him how to take corners. I asked the instructor if it was ever legal to run a stop sign, and if there was a better place to teach this maneuver other than where the neighbourhood kids play. He was rude and dismissive. Showed a lack of judgement and regard for the community. This happened in Yelm, WA on 18 July 2018.
Negative experience: Cascade is better
Negative experience: When we got to the front door it was locked had to be let in, during my skills test my instructor told me to make turns at the last moment so he could mark me down for swerving, I felt like because I didn't take the class my instructor was trying to fail me to spend 500$ for schooling i don't need; furthermore I feel that this place was run by amatuers I wouldn't recommend it
