DriveSafe Driving Schools - Longmont: Reviews
Fantastic experience: My instructor Marco was great, so helpful and I felt very comfortable! He got me to try lots of new things and navigated me well.
Fantastic experience: Our Drive Safe instructor explained the process in complete detail for us. Provided us with great feedback after our session. I had complete confidence in our instructor. I’d highly recommend Drive Safe Longmont.
Fantastic experience: I took a driving test at this location. Wonderful staff and the instructor was thorough and attentive. Even with the language barrier I was able to understand him.
Fantastic experience: Most of friends recommended and we tried. Great teachers and learning experience.
Fantastic experience: My brother got his license here, they have the best well mannered staff around!
Negative experience: I don't even know where to start to say how awful my experience with drive safe was. As you start the 30-hour online course, the site is very old and riddled with glitches. Throughout the course, the material is very poor to say the least. The same 12-second clip of electronic music repeats endlessly for the duration of the course. Instead of the instructor talking steadily and presenting information, the voiceover constantly pauses while a video of a hand drawing something finishes. In review segments, you are given some information to read, and a timer which must run out before you can proceed. It took one minute and 15 seconds (Yes, I timed it) for the timer to run out on a single, eight-word sentence. The instructors took about ten minutes for each of them to read various tongue twisters (She sells seashells and others) instead of filling the time with actual information about driving. I understand that it must be hard to fill a full 30 hours of time, but that's ridiculous. The low-quality material is only one of many problems. The online course, which is supposed to take 30 hours, took 48 hours total to complete. This is due to various problems with the site. The learner clock which records the time which you have spent does not properly record. The timer would subtract anywhere from 5-30 minutes for every hour I spent in the course. Not only that, but the site is so glitchy that it takes up to 10 minutes to load to the next screen. I probably spent at least 10 full hours waiting for the site to load. The first time I called to let Drive Safe know about this, the employee was friendly and said that the problem was on my end. I ended up sending them dozens of screenshots where the site said that it was fine on my end, theirs was failing. This happened every single day I tried to log on. After the first time I called, it was near impossible to get a hold of anybody. After calling and leaving dozens of messages, someone would return my call saying the problem was fixed. But it wasn't. This went on and on for the whole time I was involved with Drive Safe. When I finally finished the material, after endlessly fighting the bugs and glitches, the learner clock only recorded 23 hours. After calling five times over three days, I finally received a call from someone who said that I just needed to review to finish out the clock. But reviewing to log 7 hours of time would probably take more like 12 hours. But, with no choice, I reviewed the mind-numbing material for about 6 more hours, which only recorded 4 hours. At that point I called several more times, and FINALLY got someone who was willing to do their job. They set the clock to 30 hours, and I was FINALLY finished with the whole rotten thing. Overall, Drive Safe has, by far, the worst customer service I have ever seen, along with their pathetic, agonizing driver education program. I have dozens of screenshots to show that their site does not work properly, the timer does not record time properly, and that it takes massive amounts of time to load. I probably called at least 50 times throughout the whole thing. Twice, I got a hold of an actual employee. Other times I left messages never to be responded to by the employees. Many times you call their number you get some random guy in India who has no idea what he's doing. I'm hoping that the actual driving lessons will be satisfactory, but as far as the Online experience and customer service, AVOID DRIVE SAFE LIKE THE PLAGUE!!! After all, you pay them upwards of $600 for the program, and in return, suffer through a miserable experience and get treated like garbage.
Hi Solomon, thank you for sharing your feedback. We understand how frustrating it is when technology doesn't function the way it should, and we acknowledge the time and effort you put into troubleshooting and communicating the challenges you faced. To clarify, DriveSafe facilitates the 30-hour online course, but the course layout, timers, pacing, and curriculum structure, including the required inactivity restrictions and screen timers, are mandated by the Colorado DMV. These are not features we are permitted to alter.
That said, we take performance issues seriously. Our team worked directly with you and escalated the matter internally when the usual troubleshooting steps didn’t resolve the problem. Your case helped surface a broader technical issue and as a result, we worked with our tech team and leadership to implement a server expansion that is now in place to improve speed and reliability for all users. We recognize your difficulties during this time and that the course clock caused additional frustration. While some of these limitations stem from state-mandated requirements, we’re actively working to strengthen our systems and customer support process moving forward. We appreciate your persistence and the feedback you’ve shared. Thanks
~DriveSafe Team
Fantastic experience: Jeff was wonderful. He accommodated us for a driving test same day when the original tester called out sick. He was kind and professional
Thanks Gabriella for the kind review and we're glad we could accommodate your same-day needs! Best of luck and we wish you a lifetime of safe driving!
Negative experience: Unfortunately, my situation has nothing to do with driving, rather the service. When I contacted them I wanted an appointment on a certain date in Longmont and they confirmed that it was available. After I paid the $99 charge, she proceeds to tell me that there was no availability in Longmont but that I can go to either Boulder or Westminster. I did not want either, as I wanted to get my son back in school right after the driving test. She did not want to refund my money, but said that she would put in the request to do so. I called a few times to follow up as I never did see the credit back on my account. One person said Non-Refundable, another one said, it can be refunded, but it never was. It's gone past the 3 weeks that said that it would appear, so I had not choice but to dispute the charge. This level of service was not acceptable to me, so just be careful that when they confirm your appointment, they don't change it up on you.
Hi Tom, thank you for your feedback. We apologize for the miscommunication regarding the scheduling of your service. Due to the high demand for driver’s education, we often need to schedule students at alternate locations in order to serve them sooner. We understand that this was not convenient for you.
You have been refunded for the request charge, and you can expect the funds to be returned to your account within 7–10 business days. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Thanks, and best of luck!

Fantastic experience: Such excellent teaching and practice. I used to have a bad experience with previous driving school. But when I took one hour refresher drive here, I studied a lot of useful things from my instructor. I think , his name is Jeff Jac ( rcm for everyone ). He is really patience and friendly . He made me feel more comfortable and confident for driving test. Thank you so much!
Fantastic experience: - I took the 2 hr driving lesson followed by the test with Brent. - I was surprised how fast the 2 hours flew by! - The lesson went very well and I learned so many new things. I also had a list of questions prepared that Brent cleared up for me. He was very patient, a good teacher, and of course very knowledgeable. - Would recommend both Brent and Drive Safe in a jiffy.
Fantastic experience: Thanks for the lessons! They built my confidence!

Negative experience: DO NOT schedule your driver license test with the Longmont location. The guy takes you through neighborhoods that are clearly marked 30 mph and says they're 25 and fails you. He also cannot see the speedometer from where he is sitting and says you are speeding and changes his story when questioned.
Amy, thank you for your feedback. As the largest and most trusted driving school in Colorado, our license testers are trained and audited by the State to test to State safety standards. While no one likes to fail a license test and no parent wants their student to fail, the safety of the student and all drivers on the road is important to everyone's overall safety. The license test covers over 100 items with categories for automatic failure when unsafe actions occur during the test. Three such actions including the failure to stop properly and speeding result in failure. Your student will benefit in the long run from learning how important these actions are when driving. We will continue to uphold our responsibility to you and all drivers to help students understand the tremendous responsibility that comes with a license. We wish you and your student a lifetime of safe driving.
