Myers Driving School: Reviews
Negative experience: Myers is an AWFUL, unprofessional school. One of the instructors was so volatile, my daughter had to cancel her classes and request a different instructor. She had to pay ANOTHER fee in order to do that and was scheduled to complete her certification. Two days before her scheduled class, they left a message telling her she was out of her time window ( which they didn't bother telling her before they collected payment) and that they wouldn't be refunding her. We are not the first people this has happened to. They are constantly taking money from clients and then calling days away from the appointment telling clients that they are "outside the window of time" for classes. Everything about this driving school is unprofessional, they are ALL about taking clients' money with nothing to show for it. EXTREMELY unethical and unprofessional.
Negative experience: I was 10 seconds to an online class so i had to wait 6 more days to complete my classes
Positive experience: Another review covers an instructor known as Nate and id like to give my personal experience. Nate is extremely punctual and teaches with a strict discipline mentality , yes he does put his hand on the wheel to make corrections at no point in time I ever felt this was dangerous or stressful the first time it happened it did jar me just a little bit but wasn’t scary. As the other review stated he does make comments on other drives but at no point did I see it as demeaning, for example he would make comments such “we are going to go the speed limit and if the truck behind us wants to speed he can deal with us going the speed limit” personally I feel this is setting a good example. The only reason I didn’t give a five star view is at point’s he would seem disappointed in my breaking but in the car I was in I wasn’t very comfortable with the breaks, so I feel if he had a little more empathy towards my inconsistencies he would be a great instructor! But with that said he’s still very good just very punctual in his teaching style, hope you find this review helpful and maybe it’ll eases your nerves.
Negative experience: I did not have a very good experience here and feel it was a waste of money, the online classes were somewhat helpful but I almost got kicked out for taking notes because I was looking down multiple times, even though they advised taking notes. When I did my in cars the instructor was not helpful at all and if anything only destructed me and raised my already bad anxiety causing my driving to be poor. He had also brought up at every session that he didn’t think it would be best for me to be driving a truck and that a small car would suit me better even though I know nothing about cars and drive a half lb pickup truck better than any car I have ever driven. And had also brought up how expensive it is in gas and that I would have a hard time paying for my gas and I feel that was none of his business. I really feel that it was a waste of my time and money.
Fantastic experience: My son’s enjoying his in car driving and feels he’s benefiting from driving with the instructor.
Negative experience: myers driving school in green was great class wise. the instructor i got came from this location, miss green(e). miss greene had no emotion towards me when i got worked up because i was overwhelmed when doing the maneuverability for the very first time. additionally, she does not explain things differently when i expressed to her that i didn't understand how she was explaining something the first time. she also taught the opposite of what myers classroom instructors taught me, and got frustrated when i told her that i learned what i was doing. the in class and in car instructors need to be on the same page. also, she took me to a parking deck in downtown akron to practice in a parking deck, and we also went over the specifics of the engine, and how to replace brake lights, etc. in the middle of her explaining things to me, she got a phone call from who she said was her boss from this location (or copley, i'm not sure.) there were multiple instances where she'd answer a phone call or text every time it came through. and since i only had 3 days of instruction, the first 2 were 3 hour long sessions, so i had a break around the 2 hour mark. on the 2nd day, she got a call during her break and spent the entire break on that call, causing her to not be able to eat when she was supposed to, so she ate while i was driving, which typically i wouldn't mind but since it's covid, we had to both have our masks on, and obviously she did not. she was very unprofessional and her excuses for being so tough and straight to the point was either "i'm military" or "i just graduated from police academy and they were rough on us." which i understand those are habits from serving and protecting, but she's in a teacher position so she needs to act like a teacher. she also told me that she had no emotion because "i watched my friends get blown up in war." like i'm sorry that happened to you, but i'm a brand new driver so i'm gonna make mistakes and have questions that i need genuine answers for. not to mention she was so rough on me that it caused my anxiety to get worse and i ended up crying in front of her because of it.
Negative experience: I am so disappointed with their in car set up. My son finished classes at the end of January and still has no in cars scheduled. We were told this week could be 3-5 months! He plays sports so now we are looking at him possibly not being able to schedule till May and he is suppose to get his license in June. Why can they not schedule the in cars! I would NOT recommend them, this is very disappointing!
Negative experience: We paid in full under the assumption that they were going to get our child in rather quickly as they stated. Once we pay the money and sent in the original copy of his his classroom completion they told us it would be 3 to 4 months before he could actually drive. When we asked for a refund and a copy of our paperback they said no they are not going to do that. We ended up finding another driving school that could get us in in 4 days and they still would not refund the money or return the paperwork. They did not live up to what they had stated originally and just kept our money and paperwork. Was told multiple times that a supervisor would call to better explain the situation and never received a call from the company either.
Fantastic experience: Great school
Fantastic experience: I was very pleased with Myers. The classes were very flexible and it was affordable. My daughter had Shannon for both the classes and in car- she was very approachable and knowledgeable
Negative experience: As a former in-car student, it was the worst experience I have had with a company. My in-car instructor, a man named Nate, was very erratic with his movements inside the car, going as far as grabbing the wheel and jerking it toward his 'prefered' side of the road, which caused me a great deal of stress, and was an awful instructor for giving tips on how to drive and often changed how he wanted you to drive, along with making comments that were either demeaning toward other responsible drivers on the road or toward ones who died on the road. Would not reccommend for students who wish to have a good in-car experience and for parents who want their child to be safe with an instructor.
Positive experience: Yes, in cars take a while to schedule, but the instructors are great. Classes are flexible as you can go to other locations if you need to. We have been nothing but happy with this company.
Negative experience: In cars are 8-12 week wait and you only have 90-180 days to finish incar. If you don’t finish it before those days you have to go back to class and give them more money.
Negative experience: Buyer beware, I paid for driving class the first night my child went. She completed the class room portion for us to find out that there is a 12 week wait for her to drive with an instructor. I was told that this was stated in a welcome email. An email in which I never received. This is a detail that the customer should be told verbally when signing up. Myers was sure to collect their money but did not feel it necessary to make sure we knew what the wait period to drive is. If Myers can not employ enough driving instructors perhaps they should stop allowing students to enroll until their turn around time for in car driving has improved. I need my child to be able to drive this summer and I now have to find and pay for another school to make this happen. This is completely unacceptable and a horrible business practice.
