Road Scholar Driving School: Reviews

2.6/5 (21 Reviews)

Negative experience: Extremely rude front desk, both over the phone and in person. Misleading and inconsistent information. I’m seeing other reviews that describe the same experience I had and I wonder how they’re still in business.

Negative experience: The guy that runs the class is awesome. That's why it's given 2 stars. But the lady that handles the scheduling is horrible at her job. She makes every encounter way harder than it needs to be and is very snarky on the phone. Also gives incorrect information to the students. So when you're at the DMV trying to get your kids license, you don't have the correct paperwork. I would have given it one star, but the guy that runs the class is good at his job.

Negative experience: Lady at the front desk is extremely disrespectful and unprofessional. Never met someone so rude and disrespectful for no reason. She needs to loose her job. Makes people hate the business with a rude front desk lady. Very very disrespectful and would not recommend anyone to ever go to this place.

Fantastic experience: Great driving school. Everyone was lovely and accomidating. My teenager enjoyed driving with each one of the instructors and learned a lot of practical driving skills. Will definitely be taking the other kids here.

Negative experience: HUGE SCAM! If I could give zero stars I would. The lady at the front is probably the rudest person in the city. But the whole place is a scam. Just go to the dol and take the test. They use the money you pay further test towards your license fee. This place charges a ton of money everywhere they can and does a terrible job and they’re ridiculously rude the entire time. I am very particular about where I put my money. Run from this place. It’s worth driving further or waiting until you are 18

Negative experience: Front desk lady has major disrespect. Every person I've talked to has said she has the worst attitude, everyone else there is respectful/nice. Makes the environment very uncomfortable.

Negative experience: I would give zero but it does not allow.. The instructor is a bigot. The secretary is Uber rude..They are know crooks.in Stevens county. I would rather pay for unlicensed tickets than give these people a dime

Negative experience: One of the worst and only driving school in Colville. The lady there is very snarky and always forgetful with her information, especially when you can take your Witten test. Leaves out the information about taking it Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. So when you do come in before those days, she responds with an attitude. In other words, very unprofessional of her.

Negative experience: The lady in there treats her customers horribly along with their communications by leaving out important information.

Fantastic experience: I'm honestly giving this a 5* review based on others' experience. Im 29 and need my lisence but Ephrata and Moses Lake, Washington are both the biggest pieces of garbage, by reviews of Omak, they're the same. I've wasted over $300 between Ephrata and Moses Lake. Passed my knowledge in Ephrata 90% I believe, or more (not sure) but the second they had control over the outcome I failed. One time I failed at 68% when I looked up the laws and standard requirements to pass... They had no right to fail me. But... Gonna try this one due to great reviews. Anyone that reads my reviews knows I'm fair, honest and won't let others suffer from false ratings. If I can prevent it.

Fantastic experience: Awesome instructor, he gave very clear instructions. When I failed my 1st drive test he gave detailed reasoning why, and even drew me a diagram on the back of the test sheet of what went wrong and gave me a copy to study! I passed the next test with 92/100! Thank you very much road scholar.

Negative experience: Colville Road Scholar is a joke. 1 in 5 people have dyslexia. Many others have some form of learning disability that require accommodations. These disabilities, specifically dyslexia, leave many people with the inability to understand something in writing. They read it and it doesn't always make sense to them. However, if it is read TO them they comprehend and are able to take tests, receiving great scores. Road Scholar in Colville outright REFUSES to accommodate anyone by reading to them due to "covid". They WILL NOT read the test to someone. Yet, they will crawl in a car and drive around with kids for drive tests. Kids are going in taking the test MULTIPLE times and FAILING because they get things mixed up when they read it. Many cannot afford their almost $500 fee to "teach" a kid how to drive. Somehow, covid prevents them from reading these tests to kids. The fact that they are wearing a mask and the person testing is wearing a mask makes no difference. Covid bad when that happens. They WILL NOT provide reasonable accommodations for someone with a learning disability. It's reprehensible. I was told to go find another driving school to take the test at. They are literally the only testing facility around here! We took the test 9 times before they FINALLY told us that the DOL does audio testing. NINE TIMES!!!! Each test costs $25.

Fantastic experience: Our 15 year old recently completed 5 weeks of in person driving school classes. I was in the waiting room & could hear the instruction given. It is a thorough course & I was most impressed with Mrs Downey’s teaching. She has a wealth of experience on the road & applied personal testimonies to the course, making it real world for the class. She has a caring heart for kids & wants to make them responsible citizens, especially on the roadway. The cost of the program is well worth it, to have prepared young drivers & to get a reduction in insurance rates once they go on auto policy. So glad this company is located in town. Much more convenient than going to Spokane.
