Top Driver Driving School

Fantastic experience: I signed my son up for the 10-course Specialized Driver Education Program because he is on the spectrum. I felt that 10 private one-on-one lessons with the same instructor and no one else in the car would be most beneficial to him. At the time, I felt the price was a bit steep, but after now completing all of the courses, I am so happy I signed him up! The instructor that he was assigned to, Jan Coules (sp?) was exceptional. She was kind, patient and answered any questions that either myself or my son had. If your child has ADHD and/or is on the spectrum, I highly recommend you give Top Driver a try. Jan Coules also used to be a grade school teacher so this was a plus too as she was very experienced in dealing with all types of kids. Thank you so much!!

Fantastic experience: I have had a great experience with Top Driver. There was really in depth teaching in the classroom which helped me understand the rules of the road with ease. Also Mrs.Lisa has been a great driver instructor by teaching me all of the maneuver thoroughly; which made sure I would be a great driver. She has also thought me how to read the road and what to watch out for.

Fantastic experience: lisa v was my instructor and i honestly have no bad things to say about her. she was so kind and helpful with guiding me in the right direction to becoming a top driver. she was very light and always knew how to make me laugh as soon as i got in the car. i would hope that anyone else who gets her enjoys her presence as much as i did!

From mastering basic vehicle control to navigating more complex traffic situations with confidence, they demonstrated both responsibility and awareness well beyond their experience level. A huge part of that success is thanks to Lisa and top driver, who are patient, professional, and clearly passionate about teaching. Their calm approach, clear explanations, and emphasis on safety made the learning environment comfortable and effective. They not only taught the technical skills of driving but also instilled good habits that will stick for life. This was a top-tier student-instructor.

Fantastic experience: Coming from a student, top driver taught me everything I know and more. The class teaches us what to do in dire situations and how to not only be in control of the vehicle but how to be in control of yourself and your awareness while driving. Top driver instructors like Lisa V help students understand that driving isn’t a scary thing, but just something that requires attention. Great school.

Fantastic experience: Top Driver New Lenox was phenomenal. Lisa and Stephanie worked with us to make sure my son could get the behind the wheel hours he needed. The lessons were thorough and the instructors were encouraging. You could tell that my son’s instructor is also a junior high teacher. She explained things clearly, often specific areas that were good and areas to focus on. Lisa made my son’s final driving lessons such positive experiences. I highly recommend this location.

Fantastic experience: I’ve learned a lot from this school, the whole experience was amazing and couldn’t have been any better. When I first started I was nervous and anxious because I didn’t know what to expect but everything turned out to be great. The driving instructors are very good at explaining and making you feel comfortable enough. Taking these classes helped me a lot knowing all the basics and driving rules and what to expect from other driver’s. From not knowing anything to knowing how to be the best Top Driver.

She made sure my daughter understood every lesson and that she applied and practiced every skill behind the wheel. Gave us feedback after behind the wheel lessons and great tips for safer driving.

Mrs. Coules was thorough and made him really comfortable driving. Easy to schedule appointments and an overall great experience. Happy we made the decision to enroll.

Positive experience: My daughter loved her behind the wheel with Janice!

Negative experience: You will pay for driving lessons and classes that will not be available when you try to sign up. The classes are online and behind the wheel isn’t available for months. Then, they try to charge an additional $150 because there is a deadline that “you” missed. My suggestion is to use your local high school to avoid this nightmare. Update - I am not alone … I have done some research and found a lot of us not receiving behind the wheel lessons after full payment and then being charged $150 to continue on a wait list. Today 7/8, the next round of classes is September.. and the sign up for it is next month in august. I’m done with these games, I’m filing a complaint with the AG. I spoke to the Attorney General’s office today and they will look into all claims of these types of practices. If this has happened to you… Go online and file your complaint today.

Negative experience: Excuse after excuse after excuse. Extremely difficult to schedule. Extremely difficult to get ahold of customer service. Go somewhere else

Negative experience: The classroom portion was ok. As a parent, I was able to view in car instruction. Let me tell you, the instructor barely gave my child the full hour in order to get us back to Top Driver at the end time. The instructor was just checking boxes. Alternatively, we switched to Ken's driving school for the in car instruction because Top Driver is overwhelmed with more appointments and not enough instructors. I had the opportunity to sit in on Kens driving. The instructors at Ken's, including Ken himself were by far above and beyond the competition. Ken and Mr Howe are true gems that care about the kids. You won't be disappointed.

Fantastic experience: My teenager did the online classes they said it was better for them rather then in class lessons. Good experience great people and easy access to class information and sign ups online. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: They were always on time, professional and communicated all needs to me directly. Janice was our instructor for the DMV test and was very professional— honest and fair. She didn’t let my daughter just “skate through” and deducted points when it was necessary. That’s how it should be!

Fantastic experience: Our teen attended this school and we had a great experience. The classes were online due to COVID. The program was well organized and the website made it very easy to schedule behind the wheel instruction. Our instructors were always on time and gave good feedback. We also opted to take the Secretary of State road test with them and that was also a good experience. I would recommend this driving school.

Fantastic experience: We signed our daughter up and I think Top Driver did a great job! They offered pick-up and drop-off student driving from our home which was super convenient. They were very positive with our daughter during the drives which boosted her confidence and her actual driving skills. I highly recommend Top Driver.

Fantastic experience: I'm placing my son through this school do to the closing of his high school. Now the over crowding of Lincoln Way School Dist. Top Driver has a small class size. Perfect for my son getting one on one time if needed.
