Fantastic experience: Excel CDL Driving School is an excellent value for your money. The 4 student class size is great for staying focused and having quality attention from the instructor. Tom, our instructor, didn't just teach us how to pass the CDL Road Test. He taught us how to manage a tractor trailer both in the yard with practical maneuvers and on the road with traffic and the unexpected. These are the skills that trucking companies want. Tom's one-on-one driving sessions in the second half of the program are tailored to your learning needs. He's patient, takes time to know you as a person and as a student, and guides you through everything you need to know and do. I am very happy with the results and highly recommend Excel CDL Driving School!

Fantastic experience: I Have been around trucks and heavy equipment my whole life, starting in diapers. I have always wanted to obtain my CDL some day.Over the last 2 months of being at Excel Cdl I have learned so much about rules of the road, air brakes, & the dynamics of trucking. TOM is a fantastic trainer and is very friendly. With the max of 4 in a class you get plenty of driving time and lots of hand on learning experience. Being a retired state trooper in the testing division he knows the ins and outs of training, laws and passing the test. He has a great course at the Phesant Lane Mall in Tyngsboro, to ensure you are ready for the road. He offers standard and automatic training and runs good equipment would highly recommend Tom at Excel cdl. I learned alot and had alot of fun! Passed my test on the first try THANK YOU TOM!

Fantastic experience: Excel CDL was a great experience. Tom was an amazing instructor both in the classroom and on the road. Fantastic experience: I just obtained my class A CDL with no restrictions after attending Tom's CDL school! I had no experience driving a manual but that wasn't an issue. Fantastic experience: I own a truck repair shop and have been driving for some time but not legally. When I finally decided to get a CDL I made many phone calls to many schools. One school even came out to my shop and tried to sell me on " I don't make any more money if you sign up or not". After more time of searching google I found excel. Tom had me come up to meet him and I'm glad I did. The class size was small and there was alot of 1 on 1 time. During the course you could tell that Tom actually cared for our best interests. The course was great and I learned alot of info that I did not know. Thank you Tom for your expertise and for helping me through the process! I now have a Class A liscense!

Fantastic experience: Classes were great there was only 3 of us in my class. Tom is very knowledgeable in the field having been a state trooper for over 20 years and being the one giving the CDL road tests in that time you couldn’t ask for a better instructor to have you prepared for your test. The small class size made sure everyone got enough driving time and a lot of 1 on 1 time with Tom so you had his full attention. I would highly recommend going to Excel to anyone that is interested in pursuing a commercial driving career.

Fantastic experience: This is the best program to take to get your CDL license. Tom is a well of knowledge with his 20 plus years of experience. It has a small student to teacher ratio giving you ample time learn and get behind the wheel. I passed my test the first time. If you don’t, Tom will help you until you do. My experience was amazing and I walked into my test feeling well prepared and very confident. I could not recommend this school more if you are looking to obtain your CDL.

Fantastic experience: The best decision you’ll ever make I have never been more prepared for a test in my life. Tom was awesome you won’t find a better instructor. With his patience and personality he created a great learning environment for all of us. It is a lot of information but with the smaller group size and plenty of repetition I never felt overwhelmed. Fantastic experience: Excel CDL school was just simply amazing. The instructor Tom was terrific and very knowledgeable. He is very patient with his students. What drew me to this school is his background, he was the one examining the cdl test when he was on the police force. So he knows what needed to be done to pass the all exams/roadtest, and also low teacher, student ratio (more one on one) time. If you want to get your license, Tom is your guy. Tom is a retired state trooper who did the testing for years so he is very knowledgeable in this field and with the small class sized you can get a lot of 1 on 1 training, and he will work with you in the places you are struggling to get you to be successful . Fantastic experience: I applied for a career change and noticed it was close to me in Westford. The trucks are at a lot at the Pheasant Lane mall. The classes were well run and we breezed through at a pace everyone could handle. Tom is a retired state trooper who actually ran these tests for many years. He went over the exact test over and over without making you feel you were wasting his time. Tom was extremely helpful every step of the way. It's not easy learning to drive a commercial vehicle, but Tom sure made it feel that way. I highly recommend this school, worth every penny.

Fantastic experience: If you’re interested in going to a phenomenal school to get your Class A CDL, I suggest you go to this school. I’m starting a new career and after checking on other schools and the cost of those schools and how they are run, Excel was my clear choice. Of course I wanted to talk to the owner before making the somewhat substantial investment. After speaking with Tom, and finding out the details about how he runs his school, it was obvious I wouldn’t be wasting my money or time in the least. Classes are great. ******** UPDATE TO ABOVE REVIEW******** I recently received my Class (A) along with the four others that were in my class at Excel. First of all, it’s very rare, that 100% of the class pass all the tests on test day. Without a doubt, it was due to Tom ‘s knowledge, attention to detail, extreme patience, and overall care for his students. Tom sacrificed his personal time by coming in extra if you were struggling with a certain part of the class (i.e maneuvers, air brake steps etc). I’m not trying defame the big schools out there but, I am certain that you will not get the actual "seat time" in the truck by going with the big schools. Obviously, when you do pass your test and get your license, you want to be confident that you know what you’re doing for the safety of yourself but more importantly, other motorists on the road. Tom emphasizes safety and by the time we took our tests, we were probably over prepared (If that’s even possible). When you actually start working and taking on the huge responsibility you will have, your will be ready. I’d like to emphasize that I had zero, and I mean zero, experience with driving a tractor trailer when I started the class. If Tom could get someone like me to be confident enough to pass the test and get you out on the road, then it’s possible for anyone. Tom’s patience is unbelievable and that’s why I mention that aspect again. Tom also made the class fun and truly enjoyable. Very rarely do I leave reviews, but I found it necessary due to the overall excellence of Excel Driving school. It was so enjoyable that I’m going to miss the class. If you really want to learn, and if you really want to get your Class A license, I would go to Excel. I’d like to mention as well that on test day, I was probably the most nervous I’ve been in a very very long time. (I don’t get nervous about things like this often) When I got to test day, the training was so ingrained I passed everything on my first attempt and that’s saying a lot. Tom, thank you for all of your hard work with us and I will refer everyone to your school. Fantastic experience: Tom is extremely knowledgeable about trucking and CDL and made it very easy to learn. After talking with coworkers I think the best part about CDL excel is their small class size groups. I was able to have more time 1 on 1 and more time in the truck compared to other schools. Maneuvers can be tricky and I was overwhelmed after my first few attempts, but after 6 weeks from first sitting in a tractor-trailer, I went for my test completely confident and aced it. Highly recommend to anyone looking to get their CDL.

Fantastic experience: I can’t say enough good things about Tom at Excel CDL. The classes were small so you get more than enough seat time and the classroom portion of the class wasn’t crowded. Tom is incredibly knowledgeable and gives great examples in the classroom to relate to the material he’s teaching rather than reading straight out of a book. Out in the field he gives great advice and guidance on how to get comfortable maneuvering the truck through the courses. Also because of the small class size, he’ll spend plenty of time driving on the road before your test. The air brakes and pre trip inspection get practiced multiple times a day and by the end of the course you won’t be able to get it out of your head. There’s no better way to get your CDL than going to Excel CDL

We also use them for refresher training for drivers that we want to hire but don't pass our road test. Very professional, every driver comes back to us as if they were trained by the big brown giant.

Fantastic experience: As one of the first graduates of the CDL A program at Excel CDL Driving School, I highly recommend this school as THE place to go to get your CDL A in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. I can attest to the quality of the program and the instruction, as Tom had me ready to test in four weeks (and I passed on the first attempt). With the small class size, the students spend more time behind the wheel than they do as spectators (this was one of the major reasons why I chose to attend Excel CDL Driving School). Because of this, Tom is able to work more closely with the students to give them the personalized instruction that each student may need. In my case, down-shifting was my major issue, and Tom tailored his instruction and my road time to get me more proficient at down-shifting. I also want to add that the class schedules were the other major reason why I attended Excel CDL Driving School. Because I am self employed, I would never be able to spend an entire day in class, nor would I be able to attend school for months on end. It was important for me to attend a school that offered flexible scheduling, and didn't take months to complete. Excel CDL Driving School checked those boxes. Lastly, Tom's years of experience make him a top tier instructor, but I have to add that his personality and demeanor are perfect for teaching students how to drive a commercial motor vehicle. When you are a new student, it can be nerve wracking to get on the road in such a big vehicle and have to actually drive it (shift, double clutch, etc). Most of us are going to make mistakes, e.g., grind gears, miss gears, etc. Tom always remains calm (even when you are stressing on the inside in traffic or at intersections, etc) and encouraging. He just instructs you on the situation and how to get back in the groove. He never adds any stress to any situations that may already be stressful. Again, I highly recommend Excel CDL Driving School. I had a great experience at the school, and I feel it was the best choice in the area to train for my CDL A.
