Road Star Driving School: Reviews
Negative experience: I have attempted to leave a message for a return call every day for the past 2 and a half weeks. On the days I couldn’t, it was only because the mailbox was full. Remote work obviously isn’t going well for this company and someone is using it as an excuse to get a paycheck without doing any actual work. Please just refund what has been paid to my daughter’s account to the card used and we will use a legitimate business for our needs. If you would listen to the voicemails, you would know her name.
Hello Lauren, I am very sorry for any issues you felt had and that your experience compelled you to write this review. I promise you we are a legitimate business, that is a local family owned company that prides ourselves on excellent customer service. We are available by phone, text and email during office hours. However, we are busy, so if we don't answer we may be helping another customer or you are calling outside of office hours. As far as not being able to leave a voicemail, I will look into with our carrier as we have never had any issues regarding this. Our Newburgh office manager has been with us for over seven years and does an excellent job of assisting students, parents and our instructors . She mentioned the first message she had from you was this week, and that had she reached back out to you. We are all professionals who are dedicated on ensuring our students are safe, defensive drivers in our community and to make the entire process simple, fun and a lifelong learning experience as possible. Negative experience: Pathetic. If I could give it zero stars I would. Find a different driving school. They canceled a drive a couple hours before and never rescheduled it yet I miss a drive and they charged me $50 (the website says it’s $35). Instructors don’t give any feedback to the parents about how their child is driving. My son finished the course and all the drives and then they want to squeeze another $50 out of me to complete his drive exam with them, putting the fear of God into that he won’t be able to pass at the BMV. Plus they didn’t give him the driving completion certificate to take to the BMV, wouldn’t answer the phone to resolve the problem and I had to drive over to the school to get the certificate. Save yourself the headache and go to a different driving school.

We are available by phone, text and email during office hours. However, we are busy, so if we don't answer we may be helping another customer or you are calling outside of office hours, which I believe was the case last night. As far as our instructors, they are professionals who are dedicated on ensuring our students are safe,defensive drivers in our community and would never try to put the fear of GOD or coerce them into testing with us. That is a personal decision for every family and student as to what they feel works best for them. Fantastic experience: My son just finished his classes and I am so glad I signed him up. I feel like it really prepared him to get his license and the staff was so great with him. It was definitely worth the time and money spent for the classes and driving sessions.

Fantastic experience: I have nothing but great things to say about Road Star Driving School! From the first telephone call for gathering information to scheduling driving classes to test scheduling everyone we have come across has been eager to help and quick to respond. Both my boys have had good experiences both in the in class portion and driving instruction.

Negative experience: My daughter did all her drives six months ago and passed every drive according to her instructor. They never posted a grade on any of her drives or sent us the signed form of completion. Not until we went to the BMV for her drive test did we discover their error. She is crushed! I purchased her a car and she was excited to drive to school. Now we have to wait another week and take her out of school. I’m beyond angry!!!!
Hello Johnilynn, I am very sorry that your daughter is upset as I know getting your driver license is an exciting moment in a teenager's life. Please give me a call at our main office at 1 812 634-2750 and I can look into her account. I will need her full name and her date of birth. Our company policy is that a student's drives are graded and recorded on our paperwork. Then on a student's drive #6 our instructors will explain the drive test with the student and ask them if they are taking it with us or at the BMV. If they are taking it with us or are not sure we will keep the completion paperwork until they let us know their decision. If they say they are taking it at the BMV the instructor will give it to them right then. This policy is also explained in our classroom setting. Fantastic experience: Our son Jonah was placed in this driving school and had a fantastic driving experience with them. Jonah took the on-line course and had 6 drives with an experienced instructor. He completed the course and has been doing well ever since. We also worked with Jonah ourselves and as a parent we wanted to give him every opportunity to succeed. We have three more children and plan to have then attend this driving school as well. In fact I'm enrolling Wyatt today as the 2 of 4 children to start driving. Nothing but positive things to say thus far. If your considering a driving school, I would recommend considering this school.

Negative experience: It is impossible to get a hold of them by phone. I called 6 times and no one answered. I even looked up the hours online and tried to call again. I left several voicemails and did not get a call back. Finally I had to go in and get information that was not very helpful. Not everyone can just go online and do stuff.

Fantastic experience: I loved this class and I especially loved our teacher Mrs. Vickie and she even lets us call her our grandmother. I loved it!
Fantastic experience: LOVE this place!! Instructors are very encouraging towards students and students are always calling in to request certain instructors because they enjoy driving with them! Teachers in the classroom always go the extra step to make sure students are understanding the rules on the road and prepared for their permit test! They make scheduling drives easy and convenient by allowing online scheduling or over the phone. GREAT place for students to learn how to drive and get their license!

Negative experience: Terrible management that doesn't care about customer satisfaction or understanding. I would use another driving school and refrain from wasting your time here. They make it almost impossible to schedule drives and find it okay to cancel at last minute but charge if you do the same. Customer service is rude and not helpful at all.

We are a local family owned company that prides ourselves on excellent customer service. We are always striving to improve the driver education process for our students and their families. For instance, we are the only local driver education company to offer online scheduling of drive times. However, if scheduling online is not a personal preference, we are also available by phone five days a week. If an issue arises, such as you had, I will investigate the concern and try to always be fair to both the customer and our company. As per our conversation I told you I would look into and get back with you, which I did within in 15 minutes or so. However, by then you had already paid the no show fee. I have added a note on your son’s account to give his drive test for free which is normally a $40.00 fee. I hope this will help resolve this unpleasant experience you felt you have had with us.
