Negative experience: The actual lessons seem to be moderately ok for my son, but the web page is put together on an etch a sketch, where it's bewildering why they will not let you submit a google form after hours (when most students and parents do things like schedule stuff). Also, as others have mentioned, there's a plethora of available times for seemingly every high school but KM, where there's about one appointment every 4 weeks available. This is going to take forever to get done. Just Drive was just as bad if not worse, with the first kiddo, which is why decided to do something different. I don't know why it's so hard to have a decent web page and be kind to people as a driving school, but apparently it's a holy grail combo.

Fantastic experience: Honestly surprised by some of these reviews. My experience was great and my instructor was very kind and patient with me. He was firm in his approach but in a professional way that made me feel my safety really was his top priority. And I passed my driving test so that’s a win.

Negative experience: The scheduling process for Behind the Wheel is incredibly frustrating, time consuming and mind boggling. For some reason, you can only access the Google form to book a lesson when the actual business is open, so from 11-5 Tuesdays-Saturdays. They says they take 48 hours to get back to you, so it makes no sense that you can't even fill out a form when their business is closed. Also, if your student is at Kettle Moraine, think twice about using this company because the instructor says there aren't many practice opportunities around the school so there are very few opportunities for pick up and drop off at that school. This whole process took months longer than I thought it would, plus the instructor needs some coaching on his approach, according to my child. The instructions came across as short or rude and he didn't explain the reasons he was giving direction such as "take your sunglasses off" or "don't grip the wheel so tightly."

Negative experience: From beginning to end, this was a very disappointing experience for our new teen driver. The scheduling system is cumbersome, the website is difficult to navigate, and our learner experienced the one singular instructor to be unhelpful, unclear, and downright rude—belittling to new teen drivers in front of their peers and classmates. The most important thing our learner gained from this experience is practice driving while distracted by a passenger making confusing and rude comments about her driving that, from her perspective, were neither helpful nor educational. I understand different learners have different experiences, and I obviously wasn't in the car and can only rely on my learner's sharing of her personal experience. But her experience was simply terrible from beginning to end. She absolutely dreaded having to spend those 12 hours with this instructor. A little healthy fear of the awesome responsibility that is driving is perfectly appropriate, and it's helpful to learn from different adults along the way, but she has *none* of that kind of apprehension and distaste when preparing for short or long drives with either of her parents--and we're by no means pushovers and do not hold back when giving directions or providing feedback on her developing driving skills. So--for her at least--this method of instruction was an absolutely awful fit. 0/10 -- would not recommend.

Fantastic experience: The instructor was incredibly patient and knowledgeable. Scheduling was a breeze. I tried contacting other schools and Ace was the most communicative and helpful. 10/10 would recommend.

Negative experience: If I could give this 0 stars I would. Pay up an extra 100 dollars and choose Just Drive or literally any other school. I chose this school myself because I took on all of the educational expenses and half of the expenses for my car when I agreed to learn how to drive (I wanted to as well). From day 1, my instructor was rude, would make me feel stupid, and treated first-timers and LITERAL TEENAGERS who are learning how to drive as if they were experts who were making rookie mistakes. There was an incident where he was very rude and outright mean when I either didn’t stop or didn’t look, and I clearly did, but he started arguing with me about it in the middle of a street and said “doesn’t do you any good arguing with me, just drive how I tell you”. After making an actual rookie mistake of talking to him, I spent the rest of my lessons in as much silence as possible. I did not feel respected, or like the goal was to teach me. I know that this post will get a response along the lines of “well it’s your fault you drive like that, it’s never our goal to make you feel this way, blah blah blah”. I genuinely just want the next person to consider if the way they feel is worth a 100 bucks. I am not the type to hold a grudge, but if I have to give someone and a company 6 chances to try and be at least polite, that’s too much. In the end, I hired a private Russian driving instructor who speaks my language (I am also fluent in English), and who made driving fun and accessible. This experience was not it. I was very miserable. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: I moved from Europe to the USA and Philippe was fantastic at getting me up to scratch on driving in the states, he was very clear and direct and never made me feel stupid for asking questions or getting something wrong, I passed my driving test with ease and it’s all thanks to Philippe, all around great instructor

Fantastic experience: As an adult learner, Ace was a great place to learn how to drive! Phil taught me how to drive for the test and how to drive for real life situations. I passed the test first time and would highly recommend Ace for adult learners!

Negative experience: First and foremost the guy was way too much of a perfectionist and overall way too paranoid and then when I would try to ask questions he would get irritated and most of the time cut me off in the middle of my sentence even when we were not on the road. Yes I am sure that for some people his method of teaching will produce perfect drivers however for me personally I found it difficult to concentrate on the road, listen to his instructions, and also focus on making sure I do everything his exact way. How could one possibly learn on the road when an individual is giving you attitude while simultaneously correcting every little thing you do down to where you place your hands on the steering wheel. In my opinion he is a terrible instructor. *This is an edit after their response Their was a misunderstanding here I did not tell you that I failed my road test 5 times I told you I I had 5 lessons before and that I’ve already taken the road test once and failed it in the state of New York. So next time please do a better job listening to your clients then making false assumptions I feel as though I’ve wasted my money with all due respect.

Hi Joel! Thanks for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear you feel that way about your experience with Ace. That's never our goal. After you informed me that you failed your road test five times and did not read or study the Wisconsin Motorist Handbook prior to your lesson, I knew I had to adjust my teachings accordingly. If I was being curt during your lesson, I apologize. Now, I'm always open to questions and encourage them, however you must understand that we do not have the luxury of taking our time to thoroughly explain every situation in detail at that particular moment, especially during emergency scenarios. As we did throughout your lesson, I had you pull over to a safe area of the roadway to properly discuss or explain the situation. The safety of you, me, our equipment, and other motorists is our top priority. I sincerely apologize that the lesson was unsatisfactory for you, and I'm more than happy and willing to adjust my instruction as needed to help you succeed in your journey towards obtaining a Wisconsin State Driver's License. We're driven to help you succeed here at Ace, with the highest quality instruction and safety in mind. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out any time. Thank you and have a great day!

Fantastic experience: I attended Ace Driving School last year, scheduling was incredibly convenient, especially compared to just drive who couldn’t schedule me for at least a month after ace.

Fantastic experience: We used ACE this last year for our Son's behind the wheel. We were so impressed by the level of attentiveness and skill work he learned from his instructor. He can now parallel park and back into spaces better than me! We also have nothing but good things to say about the staff. We were never treated like a number and someone was always available to answer any questions we had. Our Daughter will be getting her learner's permit soon and we would never use anyone but ACE again!

Thank you Anastasia! We look forward to instructing your daughter as well!

Fantastic experience: Very professional and communication skills are excellent

Fantastic experience: The instructor offers a FAR more personal and individualized approach than any other of the large schools out there, you can take my word on it. A former taxi driver, CBL licensee, and mechanic, the instructor knows both the skills of driving AND inner mechanisms to make sure the student knows how to steer safe and keep the car running smoothly. He also offers a far more diverse set of routes for a complete set of driving experience, superior to the "Interstate, Town" paradigms I experienced in my own driving school. On top of that, he instructs on the warning signs and possible dangers of weather and inattentive drivers (ones who clearly didn't take his class or they'd know better); what to watch for, and especially safe ways to react. I've been driving for ten years and I STILL learned a thing or two from my cousin talking about it! The classes are engaging, focusing on practicality, and the instructor is great for a chat after you get back from the lesson. They will not only teach your kid the safe and smart mentality of driving, it will make them VALUE the importance of this mentality as well. I only gave 5 stars because it wouldn't let me give twelve

Fantastic experience: My younger brother passed his drivers test with an excellent score due to Ace Driving school. Communication is always a huge factor for me, and Phil went above and beyond In letting me know any concerns right away. I highly recommend Ace Driving for anyone who has children who are looking to obtain their drivers license.
