160 Driving Academy of Medford: Reviews
Fantastic experience: This school was great, very professional and they give and teach you everything you need to pass. Instructor Steve is awesome and has great ways of teaching you to drive.
Fantastic experience: I highly recommend 160 to anyone looking to get their CDL! I went in with zero truck driving experience and passed my test within 5 weeks! Kassandra is super friendly and does an awesome job explaining and helping you through the whole process. Nick and Steve are great at instructing and really take the time to help each student and make sure we're prepared to pass our final exam! I really enjoyed my whole experience with 160 Driving Academy!
Fantastic experience: Nick, Steve, Kassandra and the whole crew are great need to get your CDL??? 100% recommend them!! I just did the “In yard schooling” and they got me in and out and taught me valuable skills and tricks of the trade great school!!
Fantastic experience: My spouse and I did not have any experience around commercial trucks, but thanks to our instructors, my spouse and I received our CDL's. We can not Thank You enough Steve and Nick for teaching us what you know and helping us reach our goal!
Fantastic experience: It is such a great and friendly environment. Kassandra is down to earth, always willing to help and answer any questions during the online portion of the school. Steve and Nick are a good combination of friendly but stern with the teachings to make sure you know what you are doing and ensure you are learning. They definitely know a thing or two with how long they had been trucking before being teachers.
Fantastic experience: If you are looking to get into Truck Driving 160 is a great option in my opinion. Both my brother and myself attended this school’s Medford Oregon branch in the last two years and were very satisfied. The first week in the classroom is a little slow, 40 hours of sitting in front of a computer listening to lectures and taking screenshots with your phone, but once you get out into the yard the weeks fly by. The instructors are very knowledgeable will do everything they can to prepare you for your tests, both written and practical. I failed my first DOT road test, just wasn’t checking my mirrors enough, so I had to go back to class for a couple days and they got me more road time and made sure I passed the second attempt. They cover all your DMV fees and the DOT road test fees as well. 5 weeks to start a new career and all the skills you need to get your foot in the door of a great industry. 5 out of 5 If you attend the Medford branch, say hi to the one eyed trucker cat for me
Fantastic experience: So far so good. Got my cdla permit but want to know if my credits are transferable because I want to do my yard training at the Medford, or location
Fantastic experience: Steve, Nick, and Kassandra were all super helpful and knowledgeable. I was able to get 100% on the pre inspection and backing maneuvers and passed the driving test with ease. Definitely recommend this school for people looking to get their CDL.
Fantastic experience: A great and fun place to learn how to drive a truck well.
Fantastic experience: Couldn't of gone to a better school to get my cdl kassandra is awesome she maid sure you understood everything and maid the process easy and fast to get you in and started Nick and Steve are the best at what they do in the way they teach you every thing you need to know and even if you have never been around a truck they will take there time and make sure you pass and learn alot and have a good time doing it and there down to earth great people can't thank them enough 160 is the best school
Fantastic experience: This is the best school if you wanna get your CDL the instructors are really cool and helpful they will never give up on you! They are willing to do all the same things you are doing and practicing! The equipment is all working great it was fun driving around and learning so much from the instructors and other students I will miss it dearly I wish I never had to leave but it’s time to go make money! The hardest part about the program is just saying goodbye to the instructors and other students you build friendships with. I heard lots of things before i started about instructors and equipment but it’s all changed now the new lead instructor nick is awesome and smart and helpful and scuba Steve is the same they both will get you to pass no matter And thank you Kassandra for all your help with the process and convincing me to sign up for the program and motivating me to get the last letter of intent I needed to get my grant and getting me signed up you guys are all the best I will never forget this experience!!
Fantastic experience: It was a great experience with kassandra who has gave me the experience to succeed in getting my cdl kassandra made the environment feel relaxing and comfortable she is a great person I recommend that anyone who wants to get there cdl please go to kassandra at 160th it will be a great life choice
Negative experience: I don't recommend 160 driving academy at all after going to Aisling Trucking Academy to learn what 160 neglected to teach since it was students teaching students with no instructors for the first 2 weeks in the yard while practicing all the reverse back up maneuvers, didn't teach anything about filling a logbook out in fear that we'd be keeping logs of their teaching standards. Aisling had 10 students and 3 instructors in the yard at all times teaching students all the details to be safe on the road while having us practice filling a logbook of everything we did to have formal practice filling logbook everyday like on a real job. It's up to you make the right choices when choosing a driving academy for everyone's safety on the road. Make the right choice.
Fantastic experience: Great staff and instructors! Helped me get my CDL fast and efficiently for my job.
Fantastic experience: What a great place to learn and get your CDL, Kassandra is very knowledgeable in every aspect of this process. Andrew has great patients with all of the students and has great know how to get things done the right way. Mike is a great old timer with tons of experience and really want to see you succeed. Thank you all so much at Medford 160 driving academy
Fantastic experience: Good way to get your CDL, classroom and driving time, branch manager is very helpful.
Negative experience: This school is a joke. You'll spend most of your day standing around watching other students, if you're lucky you'll get 1/2 hour to 1 hour a day of actual practice time. You won't be able to learn a semi stick shift with this amount of practice, it's harder than it sounds, and your CDL will have a stick shift restriction if you even manage to pass your test at all. Then you run out of your 160 hours after standing around all day watching other students practice. Instructors spend most of the day in their office "in meetings" not actually helping students. Too many students, too few instructors, too few trucks. Definitely wouldn't recommend.
Negative experience: Note: I have no intention to troll this place or put anyone down. My main objective is to highlight my honest experience. Pros: Close to home and made a few truck driver friends. Cons: 1.The first week of class was a disaster. Entirely online and boring! I felt lost, they didn’t know who I was, It’s hard to focus with people coming in n out of the building, talking and walking around because the classroom was improvised. 2.They promised a few perks but once graduating I asked about them, they said” it’s on back order” and never substituted it or did anything to keep the customer happy. Honestly, no one cared! 3.Bathroom’s always dirty, the place is dusty and messy, first day I smelled cannabis in the building, and I was in class! (This was so shocking to me, considering all the tests you have to go through to get a CDL) 4.The branch manager smokes cigarettes on the yard near the students, while they are having class. And took no iniciative to solve an issue I had. After many months of emails, calls I gave up! 5.The staff is not motivated and not well informed about regulations and DMV fees. I had to pay extra money out of pocket and was never reembursed. 6.Their diploma or certificate is printed on a regular sheet of paper, colors fading. 7.Their trucks are not enough for the amount of students. The quality here is not good people. If you are going to pay all this money to get your CDL, go to the school before, check out their trucks, talk to their staff, maybe watch a free class. If I had done this I honestly wouldn’t have chosen this place. I hope this helps the school to improve (take care of the customer) and helps the students to want to engage in trucking.
Fantastic experience: I enjoyed the meeting with this school
Fantastic experience: Erica in the office was so very helpful let me know everything I had to do to get my cdl 160 truck driving school
Thanks for your review Kerry!
Fantastic experience: Grate instructor ausome school IITR
Fantastic experience: Corey, L Ray, and Carla are the best. Incredibly knowledgeable mentors that give you everything you need to get your cdl and more. Helped me land a job the day I passed the exam. Treated me like family, not just a number and literally changed my life for the better. They've become friends for life and I have the utmost respect for them. I recommend the Medford campus, for having the best mentors, to anyone looking to get into a fulfilling high demand job.
Fantastic experience: IITR was the BEST school I could’ve chosen to prepare to get my CDL license! The instructors were extremely patient and their knowledge base was top notch. Both instructors had 30 and 40 years of experience each as truck drivers so they were able to not only teach us what we needed to know to pass the test, they were also able to impart massive amounts of wisdom about the trucking industry that you could only get from experience. IITR’s curriculums format was exceptionally ingenious. I say that because when I first started the class I thought there was no way I was going to feel ready and prepared in just four weeks but going through the way they have laid out their curriculum everything just comes together naturally. And by the time I went to take my test I felt extremely prepared and confident. One of the main reasons I felt so confident when it was time to take my test was because of the large amount of driving and backing practice time that you get when you go to IITR which from my research you don’t get at other truck schools. Overall I would HIGHLY recommend IITR to anyone wanting to get their CDL and get into the trucking industry.
Fantastic experience: This is an awesome school. The instructors are very patient
Negative experience: I refuse to rate a place solely based on customer service. Yes the staff are kind and attentive. Instructors are great and classes were good but not enough drive time due to disruptions with a student we took time off and weather was a bit nasty so we lost time as well. Iitr has a scam going with Judy Rudy at voc rehab so don’t go through vocational rehabilitations Judy Rudy. Judy Rudy and the schools main guy Don have a scam going where they stick you with the whole bill via a loan. Judy and Don were in cahoots the whole time. I would honestly take my business elsewhere
Fantastic experience: I would recommend this school.
