Northwest Driving School: Reviews
Negative experience: Terrible customer service the drive teacher was nothing but rude after I finished my drive test I tried to ask a couple questions for clarification on why I failed so I could not make the same mistake again and he got mad at me because I have a learning disability and it’s hard for me to understand what he was explaining to me verbally so I asked if he could explain differently but then he started yelling said to me he was done helping and to never come back he said I was an unreasonable student said he was going to report me to the DMV the drive teacher had no regard for how others think or perceive information differently then him was very unprofessional
Negative experience: Feels like they fail you just so you have to pay again. Feels like a scam.. js
Negative experience: Would not recommend. I emailed before signing my son up, and notified of our vacation dates. They replied that his driving portion would be completed before this time, but they were wrong and blamed us. Charged us for the full price. Not a good experience and a waste of time.
Negative experience: It seems like the instruction is good enough. I've had two kids go through now. Customer service is awful. They will not budge on schedule changes. I asked to change a drive well within the 48 hours required. This was for an out of state trip that was unexpected. I was told the kids are responsible for knowing the family schedule and are told that in the beginning. I was given the ultimatum of changing the trip or having my child fail out of the class and lose the $600 plus dollars and start over. They gave me an end date to have all drives completed or failure would result. They did not have enough trainers for all the drives and turns out they scheduled drives several weeks past the 'due' dates. I hate being lied to by companies who threaten with large sums of money at stake.
Fantastic experience: “I had a fantastic experience with this driving school! They were incredibly responsive and communicated efficiently via email, which made scheduling and getting my questions answered so easy. Tabitha was super helpful and ensured everything went smoothly from start to finish. My instructor, Jason, was amazing—he was thorough, friendly, and made me feel confident behind the wheel. I highly recommend this school to anyone looking for professional and supportive driving lessons!
Fantastic experience: Both of my children attended Northwest Drive School in Port Angeles. It was challenging and taught them both a lot of responsibility and safe driving practices, which is the goal. My daughter has a disability and they worked with us so she could finish when she was sick. The email communication was strong. I recommend them highly. If your child is unmotivated they won’t be successful. If your child communicates their needs and does their part, they will become a very safe driver. Great drive school!
Negative experience: I would not spend a dime at this establishment. Scammers. A good friend's son was in his final week of driving school became hospitalized and nearly died, no this is not an exaggeration. After recovering, this establishment insisted he retakes the course over and CHARGED THEM AGAIN!! Apparently being hospitalized and almost dying doesn't qualify as extenuating circumstances. How disgusting.
Fantastic experience: Such a great place! My daughter had so much fun learning to drive. The instructor Jason was funny which made my daughter less nervous. I highly recommend. Great experience all around!!!
Negative experience: I wouldn't recommend. Bad at communicating with students and parents and lost our documents. One of the driving instructors (not all, just one) were rude and demeaning and treated you like you had never touched a car before on the final test. Overall, not a great experience.
Fantastic experience: An incredible team at Northwest Driving School. The instructors are knowledgeable and make safety a priority. Thankful to have them providing this valuable service. Tabatha was courteous and prompt in all correspondence and scheduling.
Negative experience: If I could I'd leave a zero star. I went here in hopes of getting my license and took the performance test, and I quickly noticed a pattern. I tried 3 times with being nitpicked on all three. I almost passed the second time being 4 points away. But was being told I needed to look behind me 50% not 40% sorry but how does that calculating add up. Not to mention I've met more then a handful of people who had to test with them 5 or more times, with each test being $50 a pattern was definitely noticed while testing here. Not to mention the guy that tested me was rude, disrespectful
Negative experience: Absolutely dreadful place to try and reach by phone. With an overall rating of just three stars it's easily understandable why. WADOL should not be aligned with this company.
Negative experience: I would give them zero stars if I could. Trying to get in touch with these people is non existent. No phone communication at all. Everything is done through emails. They don’t send out notifications when they change testing dates. Everything is scheduled on a weekday in the middle of the afternoon. Which makes perfect sense for high school kids, who then have to miss school. If there was any other drivers ed school within a hundred mile radius I would use them.
Negative experience: Unorganized and unprofessional. Voicemail box is full, no response to emails. Charged my credit card after cashing the check they said they never received. I don’t think they purposely double charged us, but are too scattered to run such an important business.
Fantastic experience: I am an adult who was a DMV overflow needing a driver skill test, as the wait list for a DMV appointment was well over a month out. I emailed Northwest Driving School and they responded in the evening, outside of normal business hours to accommodate me. What's better, I was able to make an appointment within the week. I was genuinely terrified from the reviews here, but thankfully, had a great experience. My instructor was friendly and professional, prompt but thorough. It was a pleasant experience and you can tell they do this a lot. My instructor was able to explain missed points for improvement once the test was complete, which I really appreciated. It was an excellent exchange, I got out quickly, and felt fairly scored. I would recommend anyone needing to get their driving skills test done to contact Northwest Driving School. Thank you so much!
Negative experience: They don't answer their phone or return messages, and they don't communicate details about zoom classes even after several emails. We finally gave up, canceled, and went with the other driving school. I will also mention that with my other foster kiddos who didn't take the driving instruction but just needed to take the test because they're over 18, they failed and failed and failed them then said it was because they didn't take Northwest driving school's driver's ed.
Fantastic experience: Northwest Driving School takes great care to ensure every kid who goes through their classes and instructional drives are prepared for all kinds of driving situations on the road. They actually care about every kid’s safety. The classes are intense and rigorous, but the mood is upbeat and encouraging. Safe drivers start here.
Negative experience: $500 down the drain , my son missed one class because of wrong log ins and then got disconnected from a class and the teacher would not let him back in , they kicked him out of the school I tried to call and email and didn’t receive anything back , I would think twice about this school
Fantastic experience: The drive instructors are really great and understanding. If you miss a turn they understand because it is part of the learning process. They talk to you nicely. They help you understand stuff if you dont know what they mean.
Thanks Ryleigh!!
Fantastic experience: The driver ed instructors are cool and nice, teach you a lot about driving. The classroom teacher is funny and teaches you lots of stuff.
Fantastic experience: Everyone is super nice and helpful class was fun to be in and not boring, the instructors are very helpful and calm.
Fantastic experience: You learn a lot and the instructors are very nice.
Fantastic experience: I learned alot the course not only teaches about driving but due to the effort that needs to be put in so that one can pass it teaches very good time management skills and it really teaches alot about study habits!
Negative experience: I went to the Worst driving school ever the female driving instructor said as soon an I walked I was going to fail because I didn’t do the drivers ed school threw them, sent me to the car by myself then proceeded to talk to my parents or 20 min and finally when she comes out to the car said I had my seat positioned wrong? Refused to give me clear instructions ex: Park the car like you would on a hill. Then when I asked up hill or down hill said that she couldn’t disclose information during a test, told me I was driving in the bike lane when I was making a left hand turn. Absolute worst place to go she failed the 3 people before me feels like she’s just trying to make money
Negative experience: I went in to take my drive test today. I'll be the first to admit I did make a couple of mistakes due to my nervousness. You have to understand, when you have PTSD from previous car accidents, its difficult to make the initial step to get your license. Well, this wasn't the issue. I understand that I made my mistakes and I will learn from them. The examiner Linda amplified my anxiety. Besides the ridiculous and persistent nitpicking over things that were virtually non-existent she was incredibly rude! I heard her muttering under her breath and shaking her head and when I said "pardon?" she said nothing. I get it, its a drive school and they have their own techniques of driving based on laws and regulations. However, that does not justify the examiner being incredibly rude. Of course, it made me more nervous and apt to make other very small mistakes. Also, instead of saying "Do I need to repeat the instructions?" in a nasty tone of voice consider using a little more positive undertones. I will learn from my experience and definitely want others to know do not go here for your drivers test. They just want the money.
Negative experience: When we showed up the gentleman that works there already expressed his feelings of not wanting to take my son on his drive because of traffic (as though traffic would stop after that day because my son got his license.. Practice makes perfect) It was the 4:00 drive so I'm sure he was just thinking about getting home before the labor day traffic got thicker... He was irritated and rude! When they finally took the drive he took control of the car within the first 3mins. My son spotted this speeding truck coming down a four way intersection with no stop signs before the instructor he started to apply the breaks and as soon as he did the instructor slammed on his stopping the car 20-30ft before the actual intersection. My son was still within stopping distance especially going 25mph. When they arrived back the first thing he said was he had to because about 3weeks earlier one of their cars was totalled.. So basically he took control of the car because he was paranoid... If you have temporary PTSD because of an accident then a leave of absence is necessary for you to work thru it. My son actually said it was like he was just looking for an opportunity to get out of the drive asap and I agree! He did not actually go to school here he went in yelm with highly reputable company so I'm positive it wasn't their teaching but rather your companies unprofessional/selfish behavior and unwillingness to actually give my son a fair chance. A refund is due in this situation since the evidence supports our claim!
Fantastic experience: Very nice staff, make learning to drive fun.
Positive experience: Both of my daughters have attended NDS and they had a good time.Neither had really driven at all before the class started and now understand the laws and have absorbed the safety techniques. Kudos to the staff who actually get into the car with these kids and teach them to drive--they're fearless! :D My girls always felt nothing but positive after each of their drives. Tabatha has been a great help for me--quick to respond to my many questions to clarify laws and the steps we need to follow to get my girls licensed.
Fantastic experience: actually i went to and am currently going to drivers ed right now. and we have 19 people in my class. yes sometimes the rooms are small but they cant always control what room you get in its whatever building they rent that picks the rooms. and the reason they have so many rules is because driving is very serious and i think all the rules are completely cable able of doing. if you child cant follow the rules then he or she is not mature enough to drive. but what do i know im only 16.
Negative experience: The instructor was disrespectful towards my family, they have the most ridiculous amount of rules and he was a lousy instructor. I don't know what the other teachers or locations were like, but the one I went to was terrible. They jammed 16 teenagers in this tiny room, that they call one of their classrooms. The amount of money I paid, I think they could of updated the books, that a lot of were in pretty much terrible shape. Honestly, I don't care about the room, the books or the location or the dumb rules, it was the disrespect that was shown towards my family and I. The lack of customer service was disgraceful and the lack of respect was disgusting.
