Michigan Driving School: Reviews
Negative experience: Do not waste your time or money sending your child here. My son was ill prepared for his exam because instead of learning valuable information, they watched “driving videos” like the fast and furious and were told that they didn’t even have to study for their test because it was so easy and they they would finish in 5 minutes. The way they schedule driving times is a joke. It is done on a white board and the kids pick their times, which was often changed at the last minute without notice. Even the driving instructors helping out at the Saginaw Township location complained about not being told of last minute changes to the schedule. Oh and just today I took my son to Secretary of State to get his level 1 license and the paper that they gave him with his completion date and ID number that they need in order to process the license was NEVER entered into the system and his name wasn’t coming up. We left our appointment without a license because trying to get ahold of anyone is a joke. We will NOT be back for segment 2.
Negative experience: the high price of this class does NOT reflect the quality of driving education you receive from the instructor linda. linda was incredibly disrespectful and unprofessional. she would belittle students over common mistakes and would raise her voice at them. i would understand if this was a dangerous situation that the mistake caused, but not pulling completely up to the stop sign? turning on your blinker “too late?” not accelerating to her taste? push/pull driving after you’ve only been taught hand over hand? if something is wrong, TEACH IT RIGHT. not raise your voice and insult. i’m beyond disappointed in this business, and i feel sorry for not only my own child, but the other kids who i witnessed facing the same harsh criticism. linda’s behavior was unacceptable and i hope she sees this and realizes she’s turning new drivers into nervous drivers.
Negative experience: It was bad enough that I took the time to go out of my way just to leave a bad review if that tells you anything. I have genuinely seen toddlers do a better job of teaching than this borderline fraudulent joke of an education. I left feeling dumber than I did when I entered. The entire class felt unprofessional and sloppily put together. Notes had typos scattered everywhere, the projector was halfway off the screen, test questions didn't make sense, and some had just blatantly wrong answers. I find it hard to believe that what I even experienced was real and not just a bad dream. How this nightmare even managed to get past inspection is beyond me. Please for the sake of everyone on the road, don't take your child here. I'm sure there are better options for cheaper than what you pay here. I don't know what else to say other than just don't go here at all or ever.
Negative experience: My partner takes drivers Ed here. She does really well with all the other instructors but Robin. She is so rude and uncoordinated she treated her terribly to the point where she was crying when she got in my car. There is no reason to be that rude to someone THESE KIDS ARE LEARNING. Not even giving them a warning just straight up yelling at you . Give them a break for God sales I wouldn't send your kids here. She yells at them for breaking because it hurts her bones then why the hell are you doing this job then? She either needs a stern talking to from her boss, and sent to counseling... Or just straight out fired.
Negative experience: The driving instructor is horrible… she made the girls stop so she could buy scratch offs, and proceeded to spend the driving time scratching off the tickets, instead of paying attention to the road… the next time they had to sit in the car while she was at the grocery store.. during their drive time… and then today she just didn’t show up.. did not respond to texts.. finally when I got a hold of the company she called and said she thought it was an hour later.. told the kids that only one could drive and they would need to reschedule for more time… these kids can’t drive so someone had to arrange last minute pick up because she can’t be bother to show up with times she scheduled… not to mention the actual instructions she is giving… completely a waste of money.. do not expect your kids to learn here, it is just checking off a requirement.. oh and Ms. Anderson said she used to be a high school principal, and she can’t even do her job…. The company needs to have tighter restrictions on their staff, this should be a serious matter.. oh and I want the $30 no show fee that you would charge us if we didn’t show up for a session…
Negative experience: The owner is a violent thug who doesn’t know the law regarding public photo- and videography Check out fricn media and mcc on YT He shouldn’t be allowed to be within 50 feet of minors let alone be responsible for any form of education ♂️
Negative experience: Teaching new drivers bad habits of pulling out in front of semis. Dash cam doesn't lie. Instructor threw his hand out the window.
Fantastic experience: I recently had the pleasure of attending both the Segment 1 and 2 classes at Michigan Driving School, located at 1907 S Erie St, Bay City, MI 48706. I cannot emphasize enough how impressed I was with the quality of instruction and the exceptional level of care provided by the instructors throughout the courses. From the very beginning, it was evident that the instructors at Michigan Driving School were passionate about their work and dedicated to ensuring the success of their students. Their kindness and patience created a supportive learning environment that made it easy for everyone to engage and participate actively in the classes. The instructor's attention to detail was truly remarkable. They meticulously covered all the necessary material, leaving no stone unturned. The lessons were delivered in a clear and concise manner, making it easy to understand even the most complex driving concepts. Additionally, the instructors used various teaching techniques, such as multimedia presentations, interactive discussions, and practical exercises, to cater to different learning styles, ensuring that every student grasped the content effectively. One aspect that stood out to me was the instructor's ability to create a comfortable and inclusive atmosphere. They encouraged questions and discussions, actively listening to each student's concerns and providing insightful responses. I truly appreciated how they fostered a sense of camaraderie among the students, allowing us to learn from one another's experiences and perspectives. Moreover, the instructors went above and beyond in providing personalized attention to each student. They took the time to address individual strengths and weaknesses, offering constructive feedback to help us improve our driving skills. Their dedication to ensuring that every student felt confident and prepared for the road was evident throughout the course. The facilities at Michigan Driving School were top-notch. The classrooms were clean, well-maintained, and equipped with modern teaching aids. Additionally, the school had access to excellent driving simulators and vehicles for practical training, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience. Overall, my experience at Michigan Driving School was exceptional. The combination of outstanding instruction, kindness, and attention to detail made it an ideal place to learn and develop safe driving habits. I highly recommend their Segment 1 and 2 classes to anyone in Bay City, MI, looking for a driving school that truly cares about its students' success.
Fantastic experience: Be aware that reviews you see may be totally out of context or some from people not even in this state going off of a video of adult men trying to film children durring a class and the instructor and boss trying to defend peoples children! Some reviews are of past instructors that no longer work with MDS, and currently are working with other driving schools in the area!
Negative experience: Just watched an instructor have this poor girl trapped in the middle of an intersection to make a turn. Learn how to drive before teaching children!
Negative experience: Unorganized, rude teachers, tons of drives and classes cancelled, and they overall made me terrified to drive..
Negative experience: Don't bother
Fantastic experience: This is the only person I trust to give my kids driving lessons one amazing job five stars all the way I recommend him by far anybody else in the area best driving school in Bay City
Fantastic experience: Best driving school - Randy is a phenomenal driving teacher and very Tom is incredibly knowledgeable and runs great lectures. Highly recommend!
Negative experience: Very disorganized for driving & observation times. My son's driving times have been cancelled or changed so many times which makes juggling our schedules difficult. Lack of coordination between the driving instructors as well.
Negative experience: My sister took drivers training here and not only was the education itself questionable, but the profanity and unprofessional actions of some of the instructors is concerning. First she was told repeatedly NOT to use a blinker while changing lanes which is illegal??? Also, she stated how Linda, one of the instructors, not only singled kids out, but repeatedly used profanity both in the classroom and on drives. She did pass but this program could use some major improvement.
Negative experience: They hate returning calls it seems.
Negative experience: We signed up two children for one course and rearranged all of our schedules to accommodate the classes. They called a week ahead and confirmed our two students as well and told us everything that we would need to bring. On the first night of class we arrived only to learn that they had overbooked the class and only one of our two would be able to participate in the program. The other had to sit in the hall until we could arrive for her. We tried to communicate with the company that night and to find out what had happened but got no response at all. The teacher of the class couldn't even get in touch with his boss that night through phone calls or text messages. The following day they finally called and could only offer an apology without any practical solutions other than taking the class in an entirely different city half an hour away or waiting another month and a half and re-arranging all of our schedules again. We are extremely disappointed as is our teen daughter who had really been anticipating to start driver's ed.
Fantastic experience: It was great, the instructors explain things extremely well and make things a lot easier. As long as you pay attention in class you'll do great.
Negative experience: 3 of my children took driver's education through Central High School. It was fine and they are good drivers. However, I have 1 daughter that waited until she was adult. She paid for 6 hours of training and only received 4. It was difficult to even schedule the 4 hours. She had to schedule time off from work to do it and she only works 12 hours a week. Now, Wayne won't schedule the 2 hours owed and we cannot get anyone to return our call even for a refund. Better business bureau complaint coming. They owe my daughter $90.
Fantastic experience: Winston King is currently teaching here. He is able to work well and relate with teens. He is patient, kind, pleasant, and fun. We are very pleased with his excellent instruction. If you are trying to decide on a local driving school- I recommend this one!! Highly!!! from a parent of 2 teen drivers!!!
Fantastic experience: I was so nervous to take segment 1 of drivers ed. But my Driving instructor Wayne Moffet of Michigan Driving School made it so easy. I thought Parallel Parking was hard but he made it easy
