With over 12 locations across the Denver Metro area, DriveSafe is the largest, and only AAA approved Driving School in the State of Colorado. While our locations’ office hours vary, we do offer scheduled drive lessons and license tests 7 days a week, with driving lessons ending as late as 9pm.

Negative experience: I wish I'd read some of the reviews before we signed up, as we got the exact same experience as others. If you do not take a driving class with them beforehand, they seem to be extremely picky and inconsistent on the "failures" just to fail you and make you pay again for the re-test. Example, you put the turn signal on for a turn, but it didn't fully engage the first time. So you click it again so it stays on until you turn. That's a fail, since it didn't stay on from the first. Seriously?!?!
Negative experience: Very disappointed with drive safe! Bad customer service! Also the actual instructor told my daughter she has a learning disability, they could of read it to her, because they failed her twice. Which was an assumption. Then proceed to ask her if her first language was not English she should have asked for a different test. Another assumption! She only speaks English! This place is really expensive as well paid $700. Not recommending this place to No one! Will definitely be sharing this as well on social media! If I could give 0 stars I would!

We can assure you that our instructors would never diagnose or make assumptions about a student’s learning abilities. We have worked with students of all learning styles over the years, and when accommodations are needed, parents typically communicate with us in advance so we can discuss how best to support their needs.
In your daughter’s case, she had failed the written test twice and had arrived for Class 7 and 8 with significantly incomplete homework. Our policy requires that coursework be completed before moving on to the next class, as it provides the foundational knowledge necessary for success in the program. While we understand that some students may be unable to complete their coursework on time for various reasons, our education follows a building-block approach, making it essential to finish each step before progressing. Because of this, we had to send her home to complete the necessary coursework and reschedule Class 8. We understand that this may have been frustrating, but this decision was made to support her success in the program. While it is always our goal to support students, we would never attempt to diagnose or assume anything about a student’s learning abilities or language capabilites. Fantastic experience: My daughter took her driving lessons here and her test. Positive experience overall.
Negative experience: This place is a scam! They find illegitimate reasons to fail you so they can reschedule and charge you for multiple tests. They bring up rescheduling before you even get your drive started. Don’t waste any money on this racket. Find a better location or another company. -UPDATE! Upon going the very same day and passing the test at another school, I begin the process of updating my permit to a license on the dmv app. I’m informed of an outstanding balance and a number to call. The woman tells me that the school placed a 30$ lien on my license for failing two tests after charging 90$ per test mind you. In my opinion it’s obviously out of retaliation for not taking a third test with them. When I called to discuss the charge the drive safe team hung up on me and forwards my calls to voicemail.
Fantastic experience: I normally don't write reviews but after seeing some of the reviews, I thought I would write my first. We signed up at the Boulder location and had no issues; from the sign up to the final test. The instructors were great, my grandson had Brent and Alyssa as his instructors. They were both patient and built up my grandsons' confidence driving. The front office staff were incredible! They took time to search for appointments that worked with our hectic schedule. They typically book up for drive times so we planned and scheduled our drives a couple months in advance. I don't know why the negative reviews but for our family, they were AWESOME! Negative experience: The customer service is so bad, specially the boulder one. The lady (who was at the reception yesterday 09/14) was very very rude and they don’t listen to you. For some personal reason we had to cancel out purchase so we went their and told her on 08/30(the same lady who was at the reception yesterday) she told us she will submit a refund request so we came back. after 7 days we received nothing and we called the main office and they said their is no refund note for you for anything. I was so shocked and then she put the request. Yesterday when we told her it’s been 14 days (as we asked for refund at 08/30) and she tried to put the blame on affirm(as we made the purchase through them) and barely listen to the problem. Thank god we got the refund after going to the store 3 times and called them multiple times. Do not go there if you are not from here. Her face yesterday was so cold and the way she was looking at us was so scary that we did something wrong

Negative experience: DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE! Very bad place! Unprofessional staff with bad attitude. I notified the staff when registering for permit test that my current permit will not be expired at the test date, and confirmed many times if it is ok, and she said it’s ok. However, when I took the test and passed, they told me it’s invalid and I need to do it again because my current permit is not expired yet…. And in a very bad attitude !!! The staff are very rude, unprofessional and the service is poor!

Negative experience: I cannot recommend DriveSafe. Enrolled my oldest child in the program, completed all phases through classroom, instructional driving, and driving test. Was at the desk at the DMV only to find out DriveSafe did not submit/correctly submit the instructional hours and my child could not be issued a license without that DriveSafe submission. Drove to the Boulder DriveSafe office to see if something could be done. They could not fix the issue and offered a dismissive and snarky response to my exasperation, implying it was a DMV failure. It was not a DMV failure. It was a DriveSafe failure. My child had completed her instructional hours over two weeks prior (final two hours at the Denver office) and they had not properly submitted. Previously, DriveSafe had failed to correctly document my child's completed classroom hours and I had to sit down with them to ensure that that digital record was corrected also. A return call from the main DriveSafe number placed us in contact with a DriveSafe Investigator who corrected the error and allowed us to complete the licensing process. For that one individual, the Investigator, I am truly appreciative. For the DriveSafe Boulder office, I have no further remark. Their lack of assistance in correcting this issue and in having any empathy whatsoever has ensured that I will go to another outfit when my other children need to go through the driving permit process. I am okay with the difficulty in scheduling driving hours as that is a product of being busy and short-staffed - I have patience and understanding with that. But to fail utterly at keeping rudimentary records, at prompt submissions of records, at customer service, that I will patronize again.

Fantastic experience: Best place for your teen to take the Driving Skills test! The driving test examiner was not only warm and supportive, but also very clear in instructions and patient, making the whole experience less stressful for my teen. Fantastic experience: I was at Boulder Drivers Licence DMV today 6/14/24 . I got there at 9. Walked out at 10. Delays were because of mistakes on my part. The women who assisted me were awesome, efficient, friendly & professional. I regret I don’t remember their names. They were at stations 4 & 6.

Negative experience: Sooo expensive! How are moderate income families. Watch out for their non refundable policies for tests and btw driving lessons. Go to Boulder much cheaper!

Fantastic experience: My daughter had a great experience taking her license test. She passed her test, Jeff was professional and very good with giving her directions. At the end he explained the areas she needed to improve. The people working at the office were wonderful, kind and very helpful. Couldn’t have been a better experience. Thank you !

Negative experience: Money grab. My wife has been driving last 3year with her learners permit . She even drew 2-3hours long trip. They failed her 3times. If you take their $700 lesson they give the license .

The license test evaluates over 100 items that measure a driver’s skill and knowledge of legal and safe driving practices, that even seasoned drivers can overlook. Unfortunately, your wife was marked for violating 8 traffic laws, in which violating 3 laws, will result in an automatic failure. Unfortunately, all of these actions demonstrate unsafe driving behavior which will result in a drive test failure. Our drive testers cannot legally pass a student if they do not abide by safe driving practices. We recognize that no one likes to fail, but the state has designed the test to help students understand how to drive more safely. Our interest is aligned with students passing but, even more so, with everyone's safety on the road. We encourage you both to review CO Driver's Handbook on laws and regulations and on page 1 you’ll find what skills and abilities the license test covers in hopes that will help her on the next attempt:

Negative experience: Money grab. They fail you with over reacting drive testers so you get an ‘auto-fail’ and have to pay for another test. Funny that the cost for the second and third tests double and triple. The owners say in other responses to other reviews, they are following the law of Colorado; naturally you have to given that’s the company’s job. Why would you need to triple the cost of a third test if not to make more money. That’s the issue. Greedo. There are other options available for drive training and testing that you should take a look at.

In your daughter's situation, she violated several traffic laws, and in her first test our instructor had to take verbal control of the vehicle twice. In her retake, our instructor had to take physical control of the vehicle. All of which demonstrated unsafe driving behavior which resulted in her drive test failure. While you are entitled to your opinion about our instructors “over-reacting,” our drive testers still cannot legally pass a student if they do not abide by safe driving practices. We recognize that no one likes to fail, but the state has designed the test to help students understand how to drive more safely. Our interest is aligned with students passing but, even more so, with everyone's safety on the road. Regarding your other comments, our license tests decrease in cost on the second test, then return to the original cost on the 3rd retake. If our customers purchase a lesson with us; which typically increases their rate of success on the tests, we offer the second test for free. As both an education company and a business, it’s important we compensate our dedicated driving instructors and license testers, and that includes their time when students need to retake their tests. Fantastic experience: I say this with zero reservation that whether you have some experience or no experience at all you will benefit from taking the lessons at this place. All of my instructors were great. I especially loved learning from Brent. He cleared all my doubts in the first lesson itself!

Fantastic experience: My teenage daughter took the four-hour Driver Awareness class with DriveSafe and has since taken four hours of behind the wheel lessons with Brent at the Boulder location. I highly recommend them; we did a lot of research before choosing DriveSafe, and felt that they had the best approach to learning actual driving skills, as opposed to just driving around with the instructor in the passenger seat for two hours. For example when my daughter did her highway driving lesson, Brent had her merge on and off I-25 seven or eight times (!!) to make sure she understood what to do and what could go wrong. He also worked with her on changing lanes on city roads, driving through roundabouts, parking, and various other skills. She is much more confident, and after the lesson Brent always goes over what they did and what she should work on when driving with us. We are very happy with DriveSafe and would highly recommend the Boulder office for new drivers! The scheduling system is also very easy and we can always get an appointment during the time slot we're looking for.
