Capitol Area Driving Test Site

Negative experience: I have been a little nervous about posting my review on this place but now that I see the others I’m not so scared to share my experience. I really thought this place was the place to go, I went to school at EV a few years back and live right down the street so it just seemed perfect I know the area and thought itd be a breeze. I have been driving since I was 16 I was 19 or 20 when I went and took my road test, I passed the written first time no problems so I was feeling confident. As soon as I get to the area the man testing me was rude and seemed in a rush and not to care mind you it seemed like he scheduled his testers back to back because the parking lot had at least 3 testers waiting (what a way not to make someone more nervous?) I have severe anxiety so I was already literally shaking but I know how to drive so I was okay. I start my test with pulling up to the line I can admit I was way far back and deserved the point that wasn’t the issue, there was not only a group of parents/testers in a circle talking very loudly about how that’s NOT what they want to do and how bad I was doing but also my tester chit chatting them up laughing away and agreeing with them, it surely did not help my anxiety so once the instructor walks up to my car I ask very politely but also super nervously if I could roll my window up because them laughing and talking was making me more nervous and distracted, the instructors response was “ well there’s going to be distractions with driving” as I understood that I just don’t think a group of people as well as a person that is suppose to uplift new drivers and help them be confident on the road is going to or is suppose to act and speak to a new driver just trying to get there lives together or even anyone driving and if they are at least your driving you know? It’s not like there right next to you while doing something for the FIRST time to let you know just how bad you are doing. 70$ down the drain and I have yet to go to any road testing places since this interaction was so belittling. I really hope they either get better instructors or re-teach the ones they have about human decency and common Curtesy to others as children come here for confidence and learning things that’ll help in the future, if I as an adult felt the way I did I can only imagine a child. I’m also going to throw in here that Mr.Rs is a wonderful place for first timers, adult or child they really have people who care about road safety and set you up for success!

Positive experience: Nothing over the top but exactly what it needs to be. Great place to practice when they aren't running tests for parking!

Negative experience: Intentionally fails you to retest. Ben arrived very unprofessional and sloppy. My son passed everything up until the last part of the test when he instructed my son to "turn left" when he meant to merge. My son did as instructed and he immediately said "fail". When we pointed out his misdirection he would not take accountability. This company just wants to take your money. Please stear clear and especially do not get scheduled with Ben.

Negative experience: 0 star to Frank! Rude/ inpatient/ disrespectful/ also RACIST We at the site to practice.. our road test time at 11:45pm.. at 11:25 he came up to us and make us stop and go to the main site to get ready.. as I was explaining to my brother who doesn't speak English. He kept interrupting us and told us to get in his car and start the test. As I explaining to my brother he kept stopping us. We still have 10-15mins before our test time. FRANK were very rude and inpatient with us.

Negative experience: Frank has no empathy and is just generally rude

Positive experience: I had a great experience! I failed my road test the first time due to my own mistake, but on my second attempt, I passed. Negative experience: The instructors are rude and don’t follow the law!

Negative experience: Not recommended, they fail intentionally by pushing you to make a dangerous move. When you can’t make a turn they say it’s an automatic fail. But when I read according to the law fail to turn twice would be an automatic fail. I hope they kick out those test takers.

Negative experience: I’ve already completed most of the test. We’re returning to the testing site, stop at a left turn, and the light is blinking red. I check for cars, see none, and turn left. Then I’m told the light turned completely red, and I shouldn’t have turned. ‍♂️ Now I have to retake it! What waste of money.

Negative experience: If I could give a lower rating I would the guy was super disrespectful did not help at all in anyway the pay to take the test or even if something came up you still have to pay..it’s just not worth it. I recommend you finding somewhere else because here is not it.

Negative experience: The test instructor called Ben please don't pick this guy he is so rude and make you nervous even though you are a good driver. He even lied on a situation turning left on yellow but he said it is red and he stopped immediately. He was just looking for thiny fault to make you retake the test again.

Fantastic experience: If you have proper instructions and practice enough, passing the road test is all about maintaining confidence without panicking. Yasmin was the best instructor I could ever have. She was incredibly cooperative, encouraging, empathetic, patient, and she instilled confidence in me. Also, a big thanks to Frank Saucedo for helping me stay calm and comfortable during the road test, which made passing it this morning an easy experience. - Raju

Fantastic experience: Oh yes I pass my test Ben it’s the best omg he was so patient and supportive I would definitely recommend this place to take your road test if you don’t pass it’s clearly because you didn’t practice enough but if you does you’ll automatically pass just be confident and you’ll get it thank you again Ben

Negative experience: One of the worst experiences, ben kept complaining about how many tests he had today in the rain and then kept giving the directions rudely and when I would ask questions would almost yell at me that it's "simple just listen to him" idk if it was the rain, but he caused my anxiety to go thru the roof and I "ran" a red. Ben is the rudest, don't go with Ben Also the so called 7 second rule is not real according to the instructor that just passed me so I didn't run a red at all

Negative experience: My fiancé rented a car and it was so big that he failed the parallel parking portion and the person doing the test was awful he didn't even help him

Fantastic experience: Had a very nice driving instructor who didn’t put pressure on me.

Negative experience: I did my driving test today. I wasn't expecting to pass or to fail but I was expecting a wayyy better experience then this. My instructor I felt like I was rushed through the test and didn't feel like I could make my own judgement calls. His presence was very discouraging, I did not feel encouraged in things I KNOW that I did right. He has been doing this for over 30 yrs so he just know the rights and wrongs to pick out but does it in a way that is not very kind. I would not take my test here and I would STRONGLY discourage others to take their test here. I felt very stressed during parts of the test and did not always feel comfortable with his presence! I wish there was more encouragement in my testing!

Fantastic experience: Mr Washington did a wonderful job retraining daughter after first driving test failure. In good conscience, he couldn’t safely pass her. Her training elsewhere was inadequate, so he gave her more lessons, improved confidence & she passed 2 nd time. Thanks to Mr. Washington.

Negative experience: VERY unprofessional . Would highly not recommend. Very rude. Made complaint to state of Michigan. Went early to practice and was told 10 minutes before my appointment time if i didn’t start then i would need to reschedule. Completely disrespectful. Called to make complaint never received call back , in fact was told that I CANT reschedule. No accountability or customer service! Take your money elsehwere !

Negative experience: Not sure why there are so many good reviews. Mess up once on parallel parking and it's instant fail. Didn't even make it out of the parking lot. This place just wants your money.

Fantastic experience: Frank Washington is the nicest instructor ever. I definitely recommend taking your test with him. He tries to make you comfortable before going on the road 10/10 recommend.

Positive experience: A small site for driving tests, I think it is useful and may be suitable for those who want to learn to drive. There are people on site to direct and supervise these tests, and there are cones to mark the paths, I think for a fee.

Fantastic experience: This is where I took my drivers test. It is a regular parking lot, not at all large but not small either. It is perfect to learn your parking whether straight on, reverse, or parallel.
