First Drive Driving School LLC - Powell: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Adele was a fantastic teacher for in cars, and Jessica helped work through the situations I had pop up so that I could do my driving on time. Robert was a great teacher, and the people there are very positive. Overall, they were very helpful, would very much recommend.
Fantastic experience: Adele was excellent, strict but professional and friendly. My son really liked her. Andy was also fantastic, very informative and encouraging. Just a great team of instructors, would highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: My daughter loved Adele! She did a fantastic job!
Fantastic experience: Loved it. Had a good teacher and was able to get good practice in! Me and my brother both used first drive and definitely recommend it!
Negative experience: Horrible place if you want to hear an response from the school. If I try calling them I have to do it atleast 2-3 times before I actually receive a call back which usually takes minimum 2 days. So this isn’t a good place if you have questions want to call the school because they won’t answer your calls.
Fantastic experience: Seamless process even through the pandemic. Staff were professional and friendly as well. Thank you, First Drive!
Fantastic experience: We had a great experience working with Adele. She did a great job!
Negative experience: Very disappointed and lots of hidden costs. I dont think you should send your teens to this place because they have no value for middle class people and even though u show 2 minutes late they will cancel the class and charge you a hefty amount of fee to reschedule. I paid around $600 bucks and my kid wasn't even shown the basic of maneuverity parking. This is a shame.
Fantastic experience: I learned a lot from Adele during my in-car sessions and am much better prepared to be a safe and successful driver. Thank you!
Fantastic experience: Great teachers give detailed instructions to my kids! Easy to work with during this crazy season.
Fantastic experience: Very easy to schedule in car driving. My daughter enjoyed driving with Adele and didn't mind the in class work. Jeed and the office staff were easy to contact and kept me informed of the entire process. Will be sending my son here in a few years.
Fantastic experience: I had Adele as my instructor and she was amazing, She told everything in detail. I loved her communication and expertise. I do not have experience with anyone else but they were great, friendly and very professional. Thank you Adele!
Fantastic experience: My teen had Adele. She was fantastic. Very thorough, good approach to teaching. Teen drives very well and passed exam with ease. Very happy with the experience with Adele in Powell. My teen enjoyed learning with her. Jeed communicated well during scheduling process. Also called us during a cancel of someone else which allowed my teen to start the process sooner.
Fantastic experience: First Drive Driving School has really helped me be more comfortable and aware of my surroundings on the road! I had Adele as my instructor and she is absolutely AMAZING! You will definitely feel prepared for the roads ahead of you after doing your in car lessons with her!
Negative experience: I went to drive time and several times there were miscommunication issues with the drive instructors and the front office who set up the times for the drives. Twice they gave us the wrong time and then afterwards said that they did not give the wrong time and that we came at the wrong time although we had already wrote the times that the front office lady told us. After having to take the test twice from not letting proper instructions and learning skills from the instructors at drive time. This place did not prepare me the way it was supposed to for a driving test and this place teaches bad habits at times. Bad communication for front office and sometimes the drivers are disrespectful. I do not recommend this place unless you have no we’re else to go to.
Fantastic experience: Great people
Fantastic experience: Adele was a great driving instructor, and it was easy to schedule lessons.
Fantastic experience: My son just completed his required In-car driving lessons with First Drive in Powell Ohio. We can’t say enough good things about our experience. My son said it best “They made it enjoyable and I truly learned good driving strategies”. Thank You First Drive for helping my son during these crazy times of the Pandemic.
Fantastic experience: I highly recommend First Drive! Adele was our twins' instructor for 3 of their in-car sessions and she is such a treasure! She does a great job teaching the rules and has a wonderful technique for the maneuverability portion of the test. We remembered her from 4 years ago when our oldest was a student there. All three of our kids have benefited from Adele's methods and attention to the details of driving. She's a wonderful asset to First Drive! And Jeed who calls to schedule the in-car sessions is absolutely delightful on the phone. Even with the delays they had to deal with during the pandemic, First Drive helped us get their driver's ed done efficiently and thoroughly with great customer service throughout the process.
Fantastic experience: My daughter had Adele for three of her four in cars and learned so much from her. After my daughter's first drive with Adele, she was more confident beyond the wheel and certainly more aware of her surroundings.
Fantastic experience: I had a great experience in the class and learned a lot. During the in-cars Adele taught me a lot and to always be aware of my surroundings on the road!
Fantastic experience: When going to First Drive, I learned a lot being on the road and off the road. Adele taught me to be more aware of my surroundings while on the road and tips for the maneuverability. She has also gone in depth about everything on the roads and highway like mile markers. Adele was a great in-car instructor. I would highly recommend learning at First Drive.
Negative experience: Impossible to reach them by phone. Their business hours are from 5:20pm to 5:50pm! Impossible to get them on phone to schedule in car lessons. Very disappointing service.
Hello Mr. Tassé,
I am sorry you are not happy with us. Just resuming after being shut down for over two months due to the pandemic, we are working very hard to get all of our students back on track and through their driving courses as quickly as possible. Since we first heard two weeks ago that we would be allowed to resume classes, we have been on the phone with parents and students daily getting them back on the schedule. The office hours you refer to are from Google, which we don’t have a lot of control over. Please see our website, www.firstdrivedrivingschool.com, for the correct information. There you will also see that we are continuing to work from home as much as possible, as classes are being conducted at our office locations. And while we usually do need callers to leave a voicemail, we respond as soon as we possibly can, if not the same day then the next. You can also text or email us. If you look at the update page on our website, that we’ve been maintaining throughout the shutdown, you will see thorough information about getting your student scheduled for in-cars. If you have any questions, you are welcome to contact us at the numbers or email address on our website.
Thank you,
Andy Rogers, Owner
Fantastic experience: My son is very happy with his experience at First Drive. He did the marathon of classes over Christmas break. It was rough to have to do that most of the days of the break. It was better than school day evenings. My son had Adele for all 4 of his in-cars. She did a great job and he said it was a better experience than he thought it would be. It took 1.5 weeks for us to receive our certificate papers in the mail. I will definitely use First drive for our daughter in the future.
Positive experience: instruction prepares you well for the test. adele was great and makes sure you everything and then some more. however the phone was disconnected after multiple attempts to call.
Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Adele! She did a great job teaching me everything i needed to know and was very friendly. I was nervous for my in cars at first but Adele made them super fun and not stressful at all!
Negative experience: My daughter finished her in-cars almost a month ago and was told that her certificate would arrive within a week. However, the certificate still hasn't arrived so she has been waiting to get her license. Her friend has also had many issues with scheduling that have delayed her ability to get her license by months. Communication is really rough if you are even able to get them to pick up your call. I expected better service from a company that so many students are required to use.
Positive experience: this place were fantastic! they got me in a few weeks after i called. all instructors were helpful and kind. instructors like Ken, Adele, and Jackie were all so pleasant to drive with. was able to learn so much
Negative experience: Scheduling is a nightmare. School itself redeems itself though, got a perfect on the written test and the hands on are useful to knowing the finer details
Positive experience: My first drive was very informative, but my other instructors afterwards were a lot more laid-back. Still, they were all very nice to know. In the afternoon (or maybe even earlier), the place is closed until an instructor comes in. You can’t really call the place directly. As a driving school, so it’s relatively inconvenient, but you’ll have to deal with it. I did pass my driving exam easily, but I did wish I was more prepared. It’s a decent school though.
Positive experience: Our daughter had a good experience with her in-car lessons here with the the first 3 lessons. She adored the first 2 instructors she had (drives 1, 2, and 3). On her 4th lesson the instructor yelled at her and grabbed the wheel. She never was able to get her experience downtown b/c they missed the exit - the instructor didn't tell her clearly where to go and there was some confusion.
Positive experience: Mary was always so pleasant and helpful when I called! I always told everyone that I spoke to how I was impressed with her and appreciated her patience as we were going through this for the first time. My son did the online classes so we did not experience the in class instructors but his overall experience with the in car driving was wonderful. We will definitely use First Drive again.
Thank you Ronda. We appreciate your taking time to write a review.
Fantastic experience: Very happy with our experience. Our son was very comfortable with the instructors while out driving. Thank you!
Fantastic experience: Excellent driver school for teens. The instructors are patient, kind and supportive. Extremely easy to schedule in-car sessions, making them well worth the slightly higher fee than the local competitors. If they are running late, due to traffic conditions, they call you and let you know, so you aren't wondering where your child is or when they will return. Top notch customer service!
Fantastic experience: Adele is great! I had her for my 2nd and 4th incar, and I feel like she made everything clear to me. I learned maneuverability, how to pump gas, and gained experience on the freeway, and many other skills. Though she does use the brake occasionally, I feel that it was only in necessary times. All I have to say is make sure you have driven before with a parent before getting into a foreign vehicle with a person you've never met, and your incar experience will be much better.
Fantastic experience: I did the online classes and the website they used for them was great. I could work on it at my own pace and was able to go back to past lessons to review them. My only complaint about them was when I ordered my first certificate I ordered the free option. The website's company lost it twice in the mail before offering to pay for overnight shipping. I had Patrick for 3/4 in cars and I recommend him for your first three. He was very patient and gave calm and orderly directions. He also made sure to give me 10 minutes of practice for maneuverability each time. He also gave me great tips for maneuverability. My last in car I had Adele. Although she threw me off, I recommend her for your last in car, not first. She is all over the place and though it does help you to learn how to multi-task, if it was my first or second in car I would've been too distracted. Adele was very respectful and gave great information while driving. She does brake and grab the steering wheel a couple of times but it wasn't too bad. Even though your fourth in car you don't need maneuverability, Adele made sure I had time to practice and master it. I heavily recommend this school.
Negative experience: Classes were fine and most drivers were fine, but one driver in particular is terrible and they just don't seem to care. My daughter had Adele for one of her 2 hour driving sessions about a year and a half ago when she was 16. My daughter had about 50 or more hours of practice so she knew how to drive. 1) Adele would frequently jerk the steering wheel why my daughter was driving instead of offering some sort of guidance, totally horrifying my daughter. 2) She had my daughter stop at a farmer market so she could jump out and pick up something she needed (during the 2 hours we paid for). 3) At one point in the drive she grabbed the wheel, veering off the road to avoid hitting a paper bag and yelled "If you would not step on it with our bare feet, don't run over it!" 4) My daughter pulled up to a stop sign, but sat waiting as just to the right of the sign there was a school bus, with its lights on letting kids off the bus. If my daughter turned she'd have been literally next to the bus. Adele screamed "Why aren't you going? Go!" So, my daughter turned at which point Adele then noticed the bus and said "On my that's a school bus, just hurry up and keep going!" Thankfully my daughter had her only once. She took the opportunity to share with her next driver Adele's behavior. We assumed that Adele would be let go or coached and that would be the end of it. But this past month I've been helping a friend of my daughter's get her temps and practice driving. She is 18. For having very little practice she is a very calm, thoughtful driver with good spacial awareness. She signed up for two in-car sessions with FirstDrive and was assigned Adele for her first lesson. She came home and was furious at what she experienced. 1) Adele again jerked the steering wheel frequently while this young lady was driving rather than any input on where she thought she need to be on the road. 2) Rather than suggesting the driver slow down at any point, Adele just hit the brake whenever she felt the need and without any warning. 3) And what makes me MADDER than anything, Adele was on her phone texting while she was in charge of a multi-ton vehicle with a brand new driver behind the wheel. 4) At the end of the driving lesson Adele looked over and told this young lady "Everything you did was sloppy. You 18 year olds all think you know how to drive." Thankfully this young lady also only had to suffer through one in-car experience with Adele too. Her second in-car was with the owner. I asked if she shared any information with the owner about Adele and she said that she did and that he did not seem to care. I can only speculate that maybe Adele is a relative and they feel they can't work with her to improve her teaching skills or cannot otherwise relieve her of her responsibilities. At any rate, I would not suggest you use this service for any in-car or at least make sure you are not in Adele's car.
Negative experience: HORRIBLE!!! Customer service. They messed up my daughters schedule and now we have to pay to get it rescheduled. Called and spoke with Mary and she had the worst attitude. Sounded bored by the job, never once mentioned her name, didn't even give the hint of (I apologize for the mistake let me see what I can do). Instead SHE INSISTED SHE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO DOES THE SCHEDULING!!!.. AND SHE'S WORK THERE FOR NUMEROUS YEARS...NEVER MAD A MISTAKE AND NOT GONNA START NOW. She was always on the defensive as soon as I had explained the situation and not once did I blamed her. Mary made sure it was not her mistake but yet I'm still dealing with an incorrect schedule and having to pay more money just to get it rescheduled. My daughter scheduled with the driver, the driver then gives the schedule for Mary to input the info into the system, it's between those two people is where the mishap began. I have the drivers name if anybody is interested. I'd rather give no stars but that wasn't possible.
Negative experience: Don't ever go to this school
