One Way Driver Training School: Reviews
Fantastic experience: i went here for the classes to get my permit, i loved all the instructors they are hilarious and very nice and understanding, but also push you a little when needed. when i did my driving times i didn’t even know how to drive when i first got there, and by my second time i was on the road. they really did a good job on teaching me how to drive and were always so sweet and fun to talk to in the car. by the time I took my test, I was very comfortable because I knew everybody there and wasn’t even nervous. obviously i passed and had nothing but a good experience at one way. Thank you Debra and penny for being so funny and patient!
You are more than welcome. Keep driving safe
Negative experience: The owner and secretary are so sweet but Penney is so unbelievably unprofessional. My brother took a course here and was told to fill out his application a certain way. When he got there to take his test, Penney was attending him and called him stupid for the way he filled it out. She had a very hostile attitude towards him and was discriminating against him. This made him very anxious and it mentally messed with him. He was afraid he would fail his test after all he has accomplished and payed. Luckily my mom was there to calm his nerves down and he ended up passing, but it still isnt fair that he was treated that way. One person could really mess up an experience, and Penney was that one person. Penney needs to be educated and learn that being hispanic is NOT a race but an ethnicity. As a hispanic we aren’t required to put a specific RACE and that was one of the main problems Penny had against my brother.
Unfortunately, the state requires that you pick both a race and ethnicity. I did not make this rule. I was simply trying to help him get his application done properly before going to the DPS that way it would not get rejected. He had originally had Indian marked as the race. I’m sorry if I offended you, but I was only trying to make sure everything goes through when you go to get your license. I am fairly educated. I did not create the application. In addition, he was 15 minutes late to his appointment and we still managed to test him. He came back in at the end and thanked us for straightening out his paperwork. He received a fair test and we never knew he was having a problem.
Negative experience: I was enrolled in this school around 2022, and while over the actual school isn't the worst and is great at teaching there is one instructor I would warn about. Brad, is a tall older man who was my first instructor for the driving portion of the school. I acknowledge he probably has good intentions he is simply NOT fit to be an instructor. While driving he speaks the entire time, or re-state instructions way too many times in an almost frantic way. If there are any mistakes he seems almost panicked, and is simply an overwhelming, loud presence in the car. Not to mention if you turn while touching the bottom of the wheel for a second he will touch the wheel to remind you. Once again startling and distracting. I get this school has very a strict policy in their own road test with handling of the wheel but this was ridiculous. After my first lesson with him I told my parents, bursting into tears over the anxiety and pure overwhelming experience it was. (For reference we were simply doing turns in a neighborhood so there was no reason this should've been so stressful.) Lastly I would like to highlight one instructor, I think her name was Cindy, and she had red curly hair. She was like heaven to drive with, she was calm and still stern without all the distractions from Brad. She is the golden standard for driving instructors and I wish I drove with her each time. (She later told me she was a middle school teacher soo it made lots of sense why she was such a good instructor.) All this to say, if your driver instructors are always super nervous to drive with students maybe they shouldn't be an instructor. Us students can feel your anxiety and being rude solves nothing it's just adding gasoline to the fire (aka an already nervous NEW driver). I drive now, thanks to my father who has a very similar style to the woman instructor I mentioned above. But yah this was going to bother me forever if I didn't share my experience. Be warned future drivers, and parents!
I'm sorry you had a bad experience. If you would have come to me after that lesson we would have re done it. I wish you could have handled this then insread of giving my school a one star when you are mad at an individual. We have searched our records from 2021 2022 and did not find anyone by your name. We do have several good instructors
Negative experience: DO NOT GO HERE!! This place lacked many essential skills needed to run a drivers ed school. For one their inability to properly schedule is annoying, inconvenient, and a display of incompetence on their behalf. It is ridiculous that not only I have had experiences with scheduling miscommunication on their behalf, but other people I've discussed with have also had scheduling conflicts. No one should be paying money and driving their kid out to this school only to have to pick up them up immediately due to a scheduling conflict. They also will try to blame the scheduling miscommunication on you even though they are the ones giving out the wrong times! I have unfortunately have had nothing but rude encounter after rude encounter with every instructor at this school. However, I will say that most of my rude encounters were with Debra. The way she speaks to parents and students alike makes her such a distasteful woman to speak with, and shows that she is completely incapable of running a successful establishment. That being said, Debra is not the only one I had rude encounters with, a male instructor was particularly rude to me. On my first lesson at this school I was screamed at to the point where I was so stressed I began crying, and told the man that the reason I’m crying is because of his behavior towards me. It is completely unacceptable that a man of his age would yell at the teenager that he is supposed to be teaching, to the point where she has to explain to him that his behavior is inappropriate and unprofessional. With all that out of the way my final thoughts are: their teaching is subpar, their attitude towards their patrons is disrespectful and unbelievable, and I am more than happy I left this school early. Which is why I think you would be better off at a different drivers ed program or doing parent taught then spending your money here. Edit after the reply: Your first lie you DID NOT have anyone for me to observe after the scheduling issue. Also, your lack of reply on your own instructors behavior is evidence enough that you do not care about your students and how they are taught. I hope the holidays treat you nicely!
Merry Christmas! I gave you a refund because we couldn’t seem to please you. I did make a scheduling mistake and tried to get you to go observe while I corrected it. You needed to observe anyway. I never told you it was your fault. It would was your choice not to go observe. You said “. If I’m not driving right now I’m leaving. “. I didn’t say anything because I thought you might come back in a better mood. You didn’t. You said are you going to schedule me or what? At that point I decided to give you a refund. I know as a business owner I can’t make everyone happy. We do strive to do a good job. It’s done. Take the refund and go elsewhere.Hope you don’t spend the whole holiday on this because I’m not. I don’t think I’ve ever met such an unhappy teen.
Fantastic experience: My oldest went to this driving school 10 years ago.. She is 26 years old now. My 16 year old is currently finishing up driving classes, and my 17 year old will be signing up for the summer classes. As a bodily injury auto claims adjuster, I recommend the school because they discuss exactly what I DO NOT see daily on my job…defensive driving. Side note: if you follow the contract you won’t have issues scheduling classes. And for the person mentioning being yelled out, neither of my kids experienced that.
Fantastic experience: It was a great experience for my son. Would send anyone here.
Fantastic experience: This is a great driving school! The classes are very thorough and my son still talks about the stories the instructors would tell about their own experiences. I feel like my son was taught how to be a safe and defensive driver and he’s got a great respect for it all. One way driving school also made it very easy to know what my next step was as a parent to get his permit and then license. It was all so very organized and clear for what the parent needs to do and I really appreciated that!!
Thank you! We appreciate it.
Fantastic experience: Professional, Informative, and Quality
Negative experience: by far the most unprofessional Insitute if have ever been educated at (if you can call it an education) instructors are rude and very unprofessional they "teach" you once and expect you to get right then and there. You are there to learn to drive its common to make mistakes then they should teach you how to fix your mistakes instead of rolling their eyes or screaming at the top of their lungs at the slightest error while you're learning. As a person who has a job teaching children in a dangerous setting, I am ashamed that these people can call themselves "instructors" It baffles me that some people will just go into a job that involves kids even though they can't stand to be around them. Also, one more thing go ahead and sue me I dare you.
We have six instructors at this school. If one of them yelled at you, I would have liked to know so it could have been addressed. We do enjoy teaching driving skills here and are good at it. I will pray that you find happiness and truth.
Negative experience: Teacher in the silver/gold Toyota Camery had a student doing 35 in the 50 and then had em merge over the single bold divider to a turn lane instead of hopping in it legally before the line went bold causing an suv already in it to slam their brakes. 2 ticket-able offenses within a minute. Bad teacher today.
We appreciate people letting us know if one of our cars is not following the rules. This description does not match any of our vehicles. In addition, none of our vehicles were in a 50 mph zone yesterday. We would never want to cut someone off. A lot of parents use "student driver" stickers. Maye there was some confusion due to that. We are located in Lewisville, TX. What town did this take place in?
Fantastic experience: Thank you all for your help on getting my drivers license!!! They guided me very professional and will recommend this place to family and friends!!!
Fantastic experience: Awesome awesome driving school! Highly recommended!
Thank you very much! We appreciate it!
Negative experience: extremely unprofessional and disrespectful teachers.
If you are a current student, please feel free to contact us. Our goal is to make sure our students are safe drivers when they finish driver education. They must understand all the rules/laws as well as understand how to interact with other drivers on the road. It has never been our goal to be unprofessional or disrespectful.
Positive experience: It was great. Aubrey was awesome.
Fantastic experience: I have to applaud this place for being a staple of our community. Both of my teen boys attended; they are patient, kind, and get the job done. They are worth every dime and I hope they continue to serve us as we trust them to be part of the village which helps us raise our children.
Fantastic experience: What a great experience for an adult driver trying to gain their license from a permit status! The owner is a very down to earth and geniune person. I would highly rate and recommend this business!
Positive experience: Very good driving school. The staff is awesome. Special thanks to Debra and Woody for their wealth of knowledge and experience
Fantastic experience: Good driving school. The teachers are great and the learning experience is great. 10/10
Fantastic experience: two of my boys went here and they were awesome! very professional and set them up completely for the driving test. I would definitely recommend to anyone with a teenager or older who needs a driving school.
Negative experience: HORRIBLE PLACE! Me & my brother both attended this place. I already knew how to drive when I attended, but he did not. I passed my driving exam (barely) and got my license. My brother was not given the time of day because he did not know how to drive. The owners told him to COME BACK once he knew how to drive. I don't understand a drivers ed program that is fairly expensive not want to do what they are paid to do.
Please send us your brothers name and your name so I can address this. This is not the way we do things here, are you sure you attended Oneway Driving School I don't have a record of you.
Positive experience: My son attended the new driver training school. I thought the process to plan for attendance at the training program wasn't difficult for my spouse as we made arrangements for our son to attend. Coordination for driving time is necessary, but is available in two hour blocks of time at convenient intervals. The type of vehicle used by the school is the late model Chevy Malibu. My son has indicated that he likes his class.
Fantastic experience: Best place!! They really care about your kids
Fantastic experience: This is the best driving school ever!! The workers are so funny and really care about you actually learning to drive. They keep you engaged and really teach information that is not only going to help you pass your test, but will also make you a much better driver. The whole experience was very stress free and fun. I could not tell them thank you enough!
Negative experience: my little brother wrote a review about his experience here... 10mins later after he posted his review, I got a call from the big chick in there THREATENING ME with an attorney! She was upset that he wrote a bad review! A call back was very unprofessional! Much like this place! This is WHY businesses have review pages! -To let others know how they conduct business. Give better service and you might get better reviews! ALSO SHE REPSONDED TO HIS REVIEW NOW SAYING "we can reschedule" I asked her in a NICE WAY if we could rescheduled.... SHE TOLD ME NO BCUZ WE WERE THE 3rd people to cancel that day (which we didn't cancel, we were running late! I drove an hour to pick up my brother and bring him there! Which I told her also!) She said shes TIRED OF PEOPLE WASTING HER TIME AND MONEY. So NO WE CANT rescheduled! Don't stunt for the reviews sir
Negative experience: This place is awful. The worst experience ever . I advise you not to send your kids here. My kid went here and the people here are very unprofesional. ALSO DONT BE LATE THE OWNER WILL CALL YOU AND MAKE LAWYER THREATS!!!!!!SMH
Negative experience: This place is awful!! The management has a horrible attitude and are terrible people!! On the day of my driving test I had to call and tell them that I was going to be a few minutes late and if I might have to reschedule, but after explaining that they cancelled my appointment altogether and hung up on me. When we called back to ask wh y they did that they called us names and said we don't need anymore people who just cancel their appointments every time!"
Unfortunately the driving test schedule is scheduled in 30 min. Your appointment was at 2pm your could not be here until 2:40 per your sister. That to us is more than a few minutes. We did have to cancel your appointment. You are welcome to schedule another test but will have to pre pay and be here 5-10 minutes before your test so we can process your paper work. There was no name calling .
Fantastic experience: My son attended One Way Driving and just passed his drivers licence test. I am very pleased and highly satisfied with the knowledge and dedication to teenage drivers Debra and Penny have provided. My daughter had also attended the school as well. I highly recommend One Way, I also recommend that every driver should take the one hour review befor your exam, it helps. I dont have anything against parent taught classes but the school was a better way to teach them everything they needed to know without any objections. One Way is also affordable. Love it and so will your child.
Fantastic experience: I highly recommend One Way Driver Training School. My daughter went through the courses and did very well with her classes. The feedback was always positive with pointers on what she needed to do to improve her driving score. The one time that we had to reschedule a drive time was handled VERY professionally and they worked with me on a time that was convenient for us. Thank You Debra and the One Way Driver Training School staff!!!
Fantastic experience: This is our go-to place for driver education -- we have sent 5 kids there! They do a great job.
Fantastic experience: The Swiftest Way to learn.. !!! It was A great experience...!!!
