NorCal Moto: Reviews
Fantastic experience: California Motorcyclists Safety Program Motorcyclist Training Course (CMSP MTC). Exellent. Very good and very patient instructors. Motorcycles in very good shape, easy to ride. Training track very well designed. Clear signals and instructions. Very professional training. 100% recommend it.
Fantastic experience: 10 hours in the rain and cold! A dozen committed students, 2 wonderful and patient super knowledgeable instructors! Worth it to take the course. It was challenging but so worth it. thanks Nor Call Moto. Great instruction
Fantastic experience: I had an incredible time on this course, the instructors are completely friendly and professional, their method and class dynamics make it easy and quick to learn, they helped me a lot and I was totally satisfied with the knowledge they gave me, I highly recommend them, if you want to learn to control your motorcycle and have fun at the same time take this course
Fantastic experience: Great motorcycle school. I enjoyed every moment of learning how to ride. Cool and professional coaches. The bikes are top-grade. Thanks for the amazing experience and knowledge.
Fantastic experience: Friendly and very knowledgeable instructors, clear instructions, fun course!
Fantastic experience: I recently completed a motorcycle training course, and it was a great experience! The instructors were fantastic and very knowledgeable. Marcelo was incredibly patient, and passionate about teaching safe riding techniques, truly an amazing teacher. They took the time to explain everything clearly, from basic handling to more advanced maneuvers, ensuring that each student felt confident and comfortable. Walter who instructed the classroom material made concepts engaging and easy to understand while creating a fun environment sharing his joy for bikes. The course was well-organized and hands-on, with plenty of time for practice in a controlled place. Overall really helped me build my skills and boost my confidence on the road.
Fantastic experience: I completed the Two Day Basic Riding Course in November 2024. All of the instructors were amazing and extremely knowledgeable. The instructors created friendly and encouraging learning environment. After two days and four great instructors, I successfully passed the Basic Skills Test, despite never riding a motorcycle prior to taking the course. After completing the course, I feel like a have a general understanding of basic motorcycle skills.
Positive experience: Overall it was a good course and learned a lot of new things that my friends didn’t tell me about. I do wish that the instructors were actively riding along side with us novices not just standing at the side reading from a script about exercise objectives and explanations.
Fantastic experience: Marcelo and instructors were grear! As a dirtbike rider going to street, the course was a good foundation for safety. I feel more knowledgable and safer riding after the course. Highly recommend . Shout out to SoSo cycles for providing great bikes!
Fantastic experience: I attended the beginner session in San Mateo. The instructors were really nice, all the explanations were clear. I really enjoyed the course and recommend
Fantastic experience: Nick and james are an awesome instructor, love their class a lot, ill definitely recommend norcal moto tonother people.
Fantastic experience: I recently completed a 2-day motorcycle safety course and had an excellent experience. Instructors Nick, Dale, and James were incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and enthusiastic. They ensured everyone felt comfortable and confident on the bikes while delivering crucial safety information. I left feeling much more prepared and secure on the road. Highly recommend this course to anyone looking to improve their riding skills!
Fantastic experience: Learn a lot how to properly drive a mototcycle
Fantastic experience: Great experience, instructor's were top notch. I will definitely be going back for more advanced classes.
Fantastic experience: Friendly environment
Fantastic experience: This is definitely a great class for beginners that want to learn how to ride a motorcycle even though I had the experience to ride I highly recommend the class because they now have smaller motorcycles so all riders will be able to sit on the bike with both feet flat on the ground that’s definitely a game changer!!!! I’m happy they got those motorcycles because now there’s no excuses for people saying I’m too short to ride a motorcycle.…..❤️
Fantastic experience: Very knowledgeable trainers. Highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: Since I've never rode a bike before, me and my wife decided to take the basic riding course to get started. It was great! I have no idea how we would start riding if it wasn't for the course. Our instructors (Alfonso and Marcelo) were awesome: helpful, attentive, calm. We actually had a lot of fun learning to ride a motorcycle
Fantastic experience: This was an outstanding class. I had never even sat on a Motorcycle before and at the end of the second day I was riding with great confidence and ease. The class is structured in a way that skills build upon each other in a very methodical sequence so you aren't just learning one thing and moving on to something else. You continue to use all the skills throughout the course. The most fun exercise for me was the sudden swerve to avoid an obstacle. Like all the other exercises it was taught in a very approachable way after building up the other needed skills. My instructors Alphonso and Marcello were amazing. They both were absolutely professional, competent, kind, and encouraging. But it's no "easy A". You really need to learn and demonstrate the skills and I'm not certain everyone in my class passed—which is a good thing! One thing I really appreciated was the one-on-one feedback at the end of both days. They were taking notes on each of us and I was able to focus on specific areas of improvement on the second day of training. As I continue to learn and gain confidence on the bike I will remember Marcello's feedback much more than I might with general comments to the entire class. As an educator myself, I recognize this curricula is very expertly designed. I'm very happy to have started my motorcycle journey with this class.
Fantastic experience: Had an excellent experience learning from the trainers at NorCal Moto. I feel so much more comfortable now on a motorcycle and understand the hazards and responsibilities of being a motorcycle driver, while also being very excited about being on the road someday! Would definitely recommend this course to anyone reading, just understand that it is a pretty large time commitment and the road/written test is no joke!
Fantastic experience: Great instructors and well planned out schedule.
Negative experience: Spent 425$ to pass the class to have the endorsement dl389 get lost in the mail. I had to call them which they didn’t answer or call me back so I had to email them asking what’s going on. They told me I need to fill out a form and send it back and scan my license to get a replacement sent to me. Ridiculous.
Fantastic experience: With a Full class of 12 the instructors diligently worked with every student on each skill to ensure understanding and execution. This class was both challenging and fun. Would recommend to anyone who’s willing to mount a motorcycle.
Fantastic experience: Great team of guys with a lot of knowledge. Very respectful of everyone’s riding skill. Would highly suggest any looking to be new riders to take their beginner course.
Fantastic experience: 1. The course is very thorough, and covers most of the real life motorcycle maneuvers. 2. Instructors are very knowledgeable and friendly to help answer your questions. 3. If you are unable to perform an activity properly, you would be given multiple opportunities to complete it. 4. The course brings confidence while riding a motorcycle in the day-to-day life. 5. It also educates riders to take the necessary precautions when in a sudden and critical condition/situation.
Fantastic experience: Very professional and practical experience. I will go back again for help with what I need to work on as a rider!
Fantastic experience: The Instructors were very informative and helpful. I can tell they enjoy their job. Very Coordinated and organized. Def looking into the intermediate class
Fantastic experience: Was a great class and course, so much good information to assist with becoming a better rider. Thank NorCal Moto
Fantastic experience: Instructors were wonderful and helped greatly with applying the knowledge to physical activity
Fantastic experience: Great instructor james is very knowledgeable and you can tell he has the experience
Fantastic experience: Walter was the best
Fantastic experience: Bill was an amazing instructor and was extremely helpful with learning and kept all the instructors and students in check while still remaining extremely respectful and professional.
Fantastic experience: Great class for beginners and to update your ridding skills also was lucky to be in a great class with a lot of use helping each other lots of new friend's
Fantastic experience: Incredibly effective beginners course. The instructors were efficient and very knowledgeable, and made sure the class kept pace and provided plenty of opportunity for hands-on practice.
Fantastic experience: The Motorcyclist Training Course was great! I highly recommend it for beginners! The instructors at the San Mateo location, Dale and James, are very knowledgeable and supportive! The course took 2 days (6am-11am). We rode KP Master 200 motorcycles.
Fantastic experience: Excellent learning experience with patient instructors. I had no experience at all on a motorcycle & the instructors were extremely knowledgeable & helpful. Would highly recommend to anyone experienced or not.
Fantastic experience: I was bought this as a gift. It was definitely a rough start because all the information I needed for the class was being sent to the person who purchased my gift. After multiple contacts with the office we finally got everything squared away. Don't give up on contacting the office to get things squared away. Because the field work is worth it. I had David, James and Ricky these guys were really good with their instructions. Note to oneself in the classroom the book work is not the same as the DMV test. They do a different testing so do not think you're going to get the same test when you go to the DMV. Second when you are on the field riding do not expect pets on the back. Being on that field you should take very seriously because you can learn a lot if you do. I asked for constructive criticism and I got that. It is very important to me to get that so that you can correct anything you need to to be safe on the road. Participate in the class ask questions if you do not understand if you do these things you will pass as I did thank you guys for all your help I can't wait to partake in motorcycle riding
Fantastic experience: Our instructor was very helpful and I'm very good riding motorcycles now.
Fantastic experience: Hell yea great for new riders
Fantastic experience: Safety is paramount at NorCal Moto, and it permeates every aspect of the course. Emphasis is placed not only on mastering fundamental riding skills but also on developing a proactive mindset and defensive riding strategies. Through real-world scenarios, and hands-on practice, riders learn how to anticipate and respond to potential hazards effectively, minimizing the risk of accidents and ensuring a safer riding experience.
Fantastic experience: Highly recommended. Very well conducted and organized, time well spent. Be on time, rain or shine.
Fantastic experience: Great school and wonderful instructors.
Fantastic experience: Instructors are some of the nicest people and give you real advice on what you need to improve on! Definitely will be returning to take the next level of the course!
Fantastic experience: I took the intermediate course as I have extensive experience riding in India since I was like 13. I just wanted to test myself and see if my experience held up to a course. And it did! My instructor was great! at times she made me question myself but I think thats what the course is about. I didn't know everything there is to know, but after taking this course I feel prepared and more confident in my abilities.
Fantastic experience: Great instructors Great knowledge Great experience
Fantastic experience: Highly recommended for all new riders. I had never operated a motorcycle before my MTC course, but I left feeling very confident and excited to dive (safely) into the two-wheel world. Training bikes were great (I had a BMW G310 that was very easy to ride). The instructors were excellent - patient when appropriate, but also zero tolerance for any unsafe behavior. This course should honestly be a requirement for all riders!
Fantastic experience: It was a great experience
Fantastic experience: An excellent school with instructors who are true professionals in their field. I gained a lot of knowledge and worked out the controls of the motorcycle, which I am sure will help me out more than once in the future. I am extremely grateful and highly recommend this school to all beginning motorcyclists and beyond.
Fantastic experience: Our group had a pair of great instructors who were passionate for riding and were more than willing to help us with any questions we've had. I was very apprehensive about riding, but with their help - I passed the test without any major issues.
Fantastic experience: I recently completed motorcycle training with instructors Jeeny and Dale, they were not only incredibly knowledgeable but also made the learning process immensely enjoyable. They were patient, approachable, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure each student understood the material. I recommend this training to anyone, especially those who may be hesitant or nervous about riding. Jeeny and Dale are exceptional instructors who will not only teach you how to ride safely but also inspire you to embrace the joy of motorcycling. Whether you're a complete beginner, this training is an absolute must.
Fantastic experience: Had a blast and learned a lot. I passed the riding test and have my DL389 on the way, so I can skip the DMV riding test. Hope to take the advanced course soon!
Fantastic experience: Best course to learn the skills needed for safe riddin. Most Fun and informative class I’ve ever taken!
Fantastic experience: San Mateo's beginner course was an amazing, thorough journey through all the necessary techniques and skills needed to start a journey of riding safely and effectively. The instructors were TOP notch–tons of feedback and correction without ever making you feel dumb. They laid out clearly all the skills with demonstration and give ample time for plenty of practice. The course is very well run and worth every penny. I went from never riding a motorcycle to feeling confident to take on the challenge of riding in the real world in just 2 days!
Fantastic experience: This course was amazing. We were recommended by a long time rider who took the course almost 20 years ago. I have never ridden before and by the end I felt very comfortable and had a much better understanding on how to keep myself safe on a bike. I can't recommend this course enough! Walter and James were particularly stand out instructor's who made us feel very welcomed!
Fantastic experience: Loved it and will def. take more classes here.
Fantastic experience: Great course taught by even greater instructors. I feel confident and safe to ride now
Fantastic experience: Very good instructors, full of patient and knowledge. Not very easy to find the right parking lot, thanksfully they provide a map.
Fantastic experience: I really enjoyed the skills course, and I learned some new things in the online course. I ride dirt bikes a lot, but I haven't done drill-like riding since I was quite young when you could happily drive around in a circle all day. I felt a lot more confident and in control after doing 10 hours of drills with our knowledgeable instructors. The instructors also did a great job working with the people who were new to motorcycle riding, and I thought they had a really positive attitude and seemed to do a good job in building people's confidence constructively.
Fantastic experience: Quinton and I think don were my instructor for the skills and they were amazing. I would highly recommend getting them for your skills test in Hayward
Fantastic experience: Great experience ,instructors are the best , recommend the training for all , guarantee you will learn some thing , thank you for the excellent teaching and patience with the students , stay safe and keep ridding .
Negative experience: NorCal Moto called me 15 hours before the class and said I was being removed because they overbooked. I asked when the next class was, and was told in 15 days, and then 30. I was expected to go to a different location 30 miles away over a toll bridge (this other location is also farther than at least 23 other CMSP sites). I asked for a refund, and was told that only the manager can give refunds, and they were gone until next weekend, but they would give me a call to "talk about it." I'm not sure what that means, but it seemed adversarial. TLDR: NorCal Moto charged me $425.00 for a class on 9/30 and 9/31, kicked me out of the class due to their error, notified me 15 hours before the class, and, at this point, is refusing to issue me a refund.
Fantastic experience: I took this training with a group of my buddies. The coarse was very informative and gave useful information for beginner riders. Expect a half day of presentation and the second half applying what you learned! My instructors were very motivational and encouraging.
Fantastic experience: Quentin mi amor
Fantastic experience: Great class with great instructor’s.
Fantastic experience: Great structured and very informative course. Both my range instructors Quentin and Dale were very professional and patient. Also a big shout out to Walter. Will definitely be back for intermediate riding course!
Fantastic experience: Good experience! Learned a ton in a very short time during the beginner's course. Thanks to the instructors for answering all my questions.
Fantastic experience: I am starting to ride motorcycle once again after 45 years at age 72. Went to Santa Rosa Fair Grounds for training and was pleasantly impressed by Eric and Bruce for their dedication to teach n train us all in a very friendly manner. Eric, however was at another level of involvement with us. I wish the best to this organization and their staff.
Positive experience: I learned a lot from this class even as a re-entry rider. I have a lot of bad habits that I've overcome and the muscle memory from the class is sinking in. For me, the toughest part is taking corners, so that's what I need to work on. The only reason I give it a 4/5 stars is the written test seems so useless. I failed the first time, and BARELY passed the second time because I'm dyslexic and have always been a bad test taker, and my riding has nothing to do with what's the legal amount of alcohol a minor can be legal, riding in the ice, and so on.
Fantastic experience: it seems that the instructors truly want you to learn everything you need to know and want you to pass the course so you can get on your way on the road. Instructors were polite and encouraging. i learned a lot through this course and would recommend it to any beginners.
Fantastic experience: Dale and James were the course instructors for my class, and they were both great. I selected the erider course which means I took an online class and then the riding portion was over the course of a weekend. I would do it again, it was worth the money (a small investment for your safety), and I have learned so much. They have a great program that takes you from 0 knowledge and riding skills up to a good level at a comfortable pace. This is a safe place for you to learn, learning and making mistakes on the road is not safe or smart. I highly recommend this course to anyone looking to get a motorcycle license and a bike. Thanks NorCal Moto and Dale/James.
Fantastic experience: Quinton and James were excellent teachers always pushing our limits to become a safer rider. Lots of fun highly recommend this school. Will hopefully be back to take the intermediate class.
Fantastic experience: I loved how helpful the instructors were, they were very focused on making you as safe of a ride possible.
Fantastic experience: Overall great experience. The instructors were very friendly and approachable and gave good feedback on areas where you can improve. The main goal of the course is for new riders to have total control of the bike with a strong emphasis on safety as a top priority. The riding evaluation portion of the course consists of you completing 5 riding exercises in which you will be scored based on certain criteria, but it is very manageable and you should not be worried.
Negative experience: I am currently filing a claim in court for them, if anyone want to join feel free to contact me and we can file a group complaint. I payed for the class, pass 90% of the class. But the second class stared super late, it was supposed to finish at 4:30 but the instructor said it was gonna finish around 7:00pm because it was late, so i had to leave for work, I called and taylor assured me a stand by letter will be enough to finish the training, I went FIVE times and they didn’t have a motorcycle for me ,or space and i keep calling the business, leaving messages and emailing. I talked to john and he send me an email with class and times supposed to be 6:30 i was there and class was at 6:00, the instructor ask me to come back for the other class , he MAY have space for me, I PAYED for the service , i am not begging for it. The stand by letter is a ripoff, selling a service like that is a fraud. please join me in the court to get rid of that, I already talk to the attorney , is not really about the money is about selling something with the knowledge that the see is is not gonna be provided
Fantastic experience: Thank you for your work, all was good! Strongly recommend.
Fantastic experience: I can't recommend this class enough. I have been riding dirt bikes and motorcycles my entire life. I really didn't think I would learn anything I didn't know, I was very mistaken. Alfonso , James and miss Sue Really took time to Teach and encourage the students Some of had never been on a motorcycle. At the end of the class, I felt even more confident in my Is riding abilities.
Fantastic experience: Awesome experience. I really appreciate it so much more after taking the course than I initially anticipated it. This course truly helped me understand the fundamentals of operating systems properly and helped me establish good habits that replaced some of the problematic behaviors that were previously in place. Totally worth it. You should take this course if you ride period.
Positive experience: This is for the San Mateo course location. I Loved the course and it was a major improvement over a course I took in Missouri. The online portion was a little quick and felt rushed(missed notes that were important for written exam) but the riding portion was amazing!!! The guys were able to accommodate me riding a scooter style motorcycle since that is what I own and would need to know how to ride. Overall I have already recommended this course to friends I know who will be riding in the future.
Fantastic experience: Fun environment, good motorcyclist skills , great teachers.
Fantastic experience: The class is well organized and the instructors are amazing, they truly care about our success and safety on the course as well as on the streets, I will continue my building my skills with there intermediate and advanced courses in the future
Negative experience: John Paul is the owner of the company and he is a scammer. Avoid this company!!! They took $350 from me and was playing phone tags and finally gave up all together with him and his company. Filled my claim with my bank against this guy Joh Paul and leaving my bad encounter with this person.
Fantastic experience: They were great instructors; I learned a ton. Even for people who have been riding for a while is super helpful.
Fantastic experience: Charles and Ricky the instructors were great. They truly do care about making sure you understand how hazardous being on the road is and how attentive you need to be.
Fantastic experience: Ricky and Charles were GREAT teachers! They both were a wealth of knowledge! The course is packed with great information, and the instructors made this course fun! I did not have prior riding experience, but after the course, I have confidence in my new skills!
Fantastic experience: Absolutely recommend anybody to take this class, not only will you learn physical and technical skills necessary to safely operate a motorcycle, but you will also learn the mindset and judgement that is necessary to stay safe out on the road. As the instructors described, an expert level rider is someone who has expert level of judgement to avoid having to use expert level skills. This class will help you develop both. The instructors were all very enthusiastic and knowledgeable and seemed to display a genuine desire to teach all of the students the fundamentals to riding effectively and safely. You will get tons of practical practice to physically operate a bike, but the knowledge you gain is indispensable, you truly walk away feeling like you learned something, and this is coming from somebody who already has years of experience riding in the past. All experience levels have something to gain from this course, it will not only be the beginning of your skill development, but the beginning of your learning career and mindset to stay safe and have fun out on the road. To the freedom and joy of the wide open roads, stay safe out there fellow riders!
Fantastic experience: I was a little concerned that since this was a beginners class that I would be bored and not learn anything. That was NOT the case! These folks teach you very important safety skills that will make a big difference when you hit the road! It was so worth taking! I can't wait to do the intermediate class and beyond!
Fantastic experience: Thank you guys for teaching how to become a safe motorcycle rider. Best part was that all the instructors were so helpful and polite.
Fantastic experience: I cannot stress how awesome this course and team was. The online training was super convenient and Mr. Champion was a great teacher. The range was very fun and informative, the training team I was paired with was awesome. They kept repeating the mistakes I made until I got it right. I know it took them a lot of repeating, so thanks to them. Do not underestimate the value of training like this. My biggest takeaway is how much practice is needed to get this right, so the course is only the first step in a long journey.
Fantastic experience: I felt all Instructors were quit knowledgeable In their field of training helped brake many bad habits and I've been riding for 40 yrs gave me a understanding of how to actually control serious situations as well as simple maneuvers correctly ty I do apprciate ya'll
Fantastic experience: James and dale best instructors you could ask for I wouldn’t have been able to pass without the help of them!!!
Fantastic experience: I took the course with the eRider (online course instead of zoom) and took the driving portion at the pleasant hill location. The instructors were all riders and knowledgeable. I had no problems following their instructions and exercises and came out of the course knowing a lot more than before. I would definitely recommend to any beginner motorcyclist.
Fantastic experience: My background: I already have an foreign motorcycle permit, with 2 years and 20k miles of experience riding a 1900cc cruiser and a 150cc dirt bike in Brazil. I took this course to waive the requirement for the DMV skills test, and I got so much more than that. This is truly a great course. They actually teach you about different situations and challenges you may encounter on the road. You will get the theory and practice on doing effective turns, braking, using the clutch (friction zone, changing gears), deviating quickly from obstacles and more. Zoom classes are engaging, and range instructors are attentive. They are all super nice people. Actual bikers with lots of experience (Walter, the zoom instructor last Sunday has been riding bikes over 50 years!). Even if you have previous motorcycling experience like me, you will get something useful out of this course. 350 bucks well spent. By the way, don't go thinking you will automatically pass the course. They have a 50 questions exam, very similar to the DMV one, and a skills test which includes the serpentine, swerving, taking a curve, braking and a slow 90 degrees turn. I think half of my class of 9 students failed one or the other, or gave up during the range--you have to put the effort to get the DL 389. I wish I had taken this course when I first started riding motorcycles.
Thank you for the great review Rodrigo. We hope you continue to ride safe and have lots of fun and adventure in your riding career. Happy Riding!
Negative experience: accidentally paid for service, called in 3 weeks before the class telling them it was an accident. weeks later get a call notifying me that I had not attended the class by a number in which I can not get back to. These people are a bunch of broke money hungry losers, do not take a class by them.
Hello June, We are sorry you had a bad experience. We were unable to find you in our system. Please contact us at [email protected] with your information and we will see what we can do to help. Thank you.
Fantastic experience: (This review is for the San Mateo Location) Short Version: This class was awesome, I had learned a lot and the instructors were very patient and understanding. I got my DL389 easily plus learned a lot of new skills. Long Version: I am a new motorcycle rider and had taken this class to get my M1 Endorsement without having to take the DMV riding test. Also, I wanted to learn how to ride more safely here in the Bay Area with all this crazy traffic and distracted drivers. On my first day we did a zoom class in the evening after work. I was sort of tired to sit through a 3 hour class, but the instructor tried hard to keep us entertained and focused on the course materials. The next morning at 6 am we were given basic training on how to operate and ride the motorcycle. This was done with 2 instructors that were both very understanding and took the time to work with each student individually. Sure everyone was nervous and/or felt very uncomfortable riding for the first time, but the instructors made sure to help everyone out and give them encouragement. After that, we had to take another 3 hour zoom class. Yes we were all tired, but again the instructor was great, he tried his best to keep us focused and tell us funny stories as he knew we had a long day earlier. The last day was when we learned more about riding skills. There were several different courses we had to do that made us really learn to ride properly. We learned skills that could be applied in real life situations for our safety. At the end we did our skills test which wasn't too bad as we were basically trained for it during the exercises we did earlier. After that we did a written multiple choice test which was based upon the classroom learning we had done. Everyone that was in my class had passed. I know you are reading this long review because you are not sure about this class. I just want to reassure you that as a fellow new motorcycle rider I had the same fears and apprehensions, but this class and its instructors were great and you will get your M1 endorsement plus learn a lot of great skills on how to ride a motorcycle.
Hello David, We are happy to hear you had a great experience and learned a lot from the course. We hope you have a long safe riding career. Happy Riding!
Negative experience: I made the mistake of sending a friend here. The instructor is just plain rude and yells at students like its military school. don't bother wasting your money on these guys. they are unprofessional, money hungry monsters, and if you make a mistake or want a refund, its nearly impossible to get said refund, as the other reviews have stated.
Fantastic experience: They are very friendly, helpful and reliable. I recommend this place for everybody to take their motorbike test.
Negative experience: I signed up for 2 registrations by accident due to an unclear communication. They only did a partial refund even after sending an email right after finding out that the 2nd registration was a mistake. This is not very professional.
Negative experience: Classroom at the Petaluma location is dirty, damp, and cold in the winter, and probably uncomfortably hot in the summer - not a nice place to spend 6 hours over 2 days. Company seems to be in denial about how unreasonable a location this is, especially considering the professional and beautiful stock photos they've chosen for their website. This is definitely not a comfortable or clean environment that supports learning. I wish there would have been a way to check into this before registering and paying for the class on their sparkling website - a pretty dishonest representation.
Class is held in a classroom at Petaluma Junior High. Unfortunately the heater broke and the school has since it repaired it.
Negative experience: Last month I signed up for 2 courses by accident, so I called and left two voicemails, and sent one email, but never got a call back. Four days later I got an email response that said they will refund one class except for $20. I attended the first class in Pleasant Hill that was supposed to be 3.5 hours. The instructor showed up late and the first thing he said when he walked in the door was, "everyone go buy a parking pass or else you'll get a $250 ticket." While most people left, he placed pamphlets on desks closest to the door where the cold vent was blowing, and away from where the rest of us were sitting. He then said, "sit in a seat with a pamphlet." Some of us got up and walked toward the side of the room where he placed them. I picked up a pamphlet and when I asked if I could sit in my original seat he yelled "I said SIT DOWN!" This is an optional course, I'm not sure why he felt he was leading a military squad. I should have left then, but I didn't. After 20 minutes when people came back, we spent the next hour on introductions. I was the only one from Oakland so when it was my turn I guess he wanted to talk about my town. The instructor said, "I see you lived at D Street? I used to live right near there...but I was always PACKING!". And he just stared at me like I should respond to that. He also decided to tell everyone that actually I lived on 3rd St now so maybe it's not as bad as East Oakland? He used Oakland in every example where bad things could happen if you are not prepared; this felt completely badgering, was totally unwarranted, and I did not appreciate this judgmental attitude. Just because he thinks Oakland is scary, doesn't mean everyone else does and it doesn't exemplify their professionalism nor help anyone feel safe when those are the examples being used. After introductions, the instructor spent the next hour talking about how badass he and his family are with their motorcycle history, and bragged about how his son, the main instructor, is the best rider in the state of California. He described past students in detail, what they looked like, how he felt about their looks, and their learning experiences. Why on earth do we need to hear about a fine specimen in a previous class that he thought was sexy? If this wasn't over the top enough, he actually said, "Hey, did you guys know Bambi was a boy?" WTF? I am not a gay man, but if I was I would have been more floored and disgusted than I already was. He finally let us out of class 25 minutes late (after saying every 5 minutes that we were almost done!) and I arrived home 2 hours later because I ended up missing the train I had relied on thinking we would get out on time. As soon as I left that class I thought there is no way I am coming back to this range to learn from this unprofessional guy and his family (the child grandson was also going to be there helping). The misogynistic undertones of this aggressive instructor did not make me feel safe as a female learning to ride a motorcycle. It is worth noting this is the same organization that runs each of the motorcycle schools in the bay area; for me I want to learn from a knowledgeable and professional individual; this is my life! So I wrote an email to them that night and dropped out, and have inquired for a refund from this dreadful organization. Spend your dollars elsewhere!
Negative experience: Like other reviews have said, the service at this place is abysmal. I signed up for a 2 day course, they then called me and told me I needed to pick new dates because that class was empty, which I did. A day before the class I got extremely sick, throwing up and passing out and needed to stay in bed. When I called to reschedule they told me that that made no exceptions whatsoever for illness and I could either pay 130 dollars to schedule a new date or pay them 50 dollars to call in and do drop in classes, if there was room. When I contacted them to try and explain my situation I was met with the same form letter every time. Do yourself a favor and go take a class anywhere else and avoid the same nonsense I had to go through.
