Fantastic experience: I recently (last class of the season) took the MSF Basic RiderCourse through On the Road Again Motorcycle School. I had never even touched a motorcycle before, and honestly, I wasn’t sure if I’d even be able to ride one by the end of the course—let alone pass it! But contrary to some of the reviews on here the course was actually made for people that have no prior motorcycle experience -like me! My instructors, Peter and Herick, were absolutely fantastic. They were patient, super knowledgeable, and really good at breaking down the basics. When I started second guessing myself, their encouragement helped me push through and keep going. They answered every question (and I had plenty!), and it never felt rushed or intimidating. And as for who was the better instructor… well, picking between them would be like choosing your favorite tire on a motorcycle—without both, you’re not getting anywhere! By the end of the course, I felt confident enough to continue learning on my own. I originally signed up just to see if I could learn something new, but now I’m actually looking at motorcycles so I can keep practicing and exploring this new passion. Of course, safety is key—this class gave me an excellent foundation, but it’s not going to instantly turn you into some kind of motorcycle god. You’ll still need to keep building your knowledge and refining your skills over time. However if you’re thinking about taking that (proper) first step, this place is absolutely perfect for someone starting from scratch, or if you have some experience but no proper training. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I can’t say enough good things about all of the instructors at this school. Last year I took the course and wasn’t ready to pass. I signed up for private lessons and even after some time they allowed me to come back and retake the course. I felt like a completely different rider after each step. It was only because of the attention the coaches give each rider was it possible for my confidence with the bike to sky rocket. The staff is nothing but professional and personable. Even if you pass the class, I can’t come up with a single reason to try and talk someone out of taking additional private lessons or returning for the advanced courses. I’m really super appreciative of the way everyone worked with me and getting me to my goals.

Fantastic experience: Layla, Peter, and Kevin were amazing. I had riding experience before the class but they taught me things I didn’t know. What a great experience with these three. I highly recommend for first time riders and people with open mind to learn new things.

Fantastic experience: Instructors were awesome especially Eric and Peter. Highly recommend the course given that most drivers learn in the community rather than a formal course this course was the best for first time drivers. Peter and Eric made me feel confident and encouraged me to keep trying even when I didn’t finesse the movement.

Fantastic experience: I never thought I could actually ride a bike. I just took this course and these guys are amazing. Especially Peter, Kevin, and Ashar. Amazing guys, super friendly, knowledgeable and generally great coaches. They knit pick you on little things that will leave you astonished because you actually pass when you just listen to what they say. 12/10 Nassau is definitely the way to go!

Positive experience: This 2 day course is tough on first time riders like myself(failed the first time, nerves), takes a toll on you mentally and physically. But once you power through it, you are a better rider for it. I appreciate the patience and professionalism of our instructors, Peter(dude is tough!!! but fair), Kevin(the joker - but stern when it matters, thank you for encouraging me - I wouldn’t made it through without you!)

Fantastic experience: What a great experience! I took the class to avoid the DMV road test and WOW I’m so happy I did! Jimmy our instructor was top notch, very professional and beyond knowledgeable! I was in a small group of 5 and what started as a day just to get my license became a great day of learning how to control my motorcycle and being able to help me avoid any mishaps! I highly suggest anyone needing to take a road test to invest in your future with On The Road Again, it might save your life! I left a better prepared rider and look forward to taking more advanced classes! Don’t wait!!!

I had very little riding experience before going to the class and this really helped clean some things up that i was really uncomfortable with and really getting down to the basics of riding. Fantastic experience: I took the "Queens location" OTRA MSF course and what a blast! It has been 20 years since I last ridden a Motorcycle/dirt bike, and under the very experienced staff Raphael and Kevin I was able to restart the never ending learning skill of riding a motorcycle. These guys are very experienced and will set your train of thought on how you can minimize getting hurt from the constant risk you have riding a motorcycle. I truly felt more confident in taking it to the streets after this course. I totally plan on returning upon the purchase of my motorcycle for future training. Fantastic experience: What an amazing experience. Other than being on the back of a motorcycle I have never ridden before. After taking this class, I felt empowered and eager to get on a motorcycle with a new found confidence. I’ve learned the fundamentals with gentle guidance and coaching from Peter and Herick. Their synergistic approach to training really made the class run smoothly and they took the time to explain how you can improve technique. I must have asked them a million times about shifting gears and each time they guided me through it with patience. Really an overall great experience. Even the group members were encouraging and supportive of each other! If you’re doing this course in the summer time make sure to bring lots of water and wear a light long sleeve shirt because it’s HOT! I would highly recommend this course and will be signing up for private lessons as I feel like their training will make me more comfortable and safer for street riding. Negative experience: I highly recommend the instructors Layla and Jack in Nassau. They are both humorous and professional. Their teaching method begins with a playful "duck duck goose," making the ride learning experience enjoyable while effectively conveying the key concepts. Many thanks to Layla and Jack for their exceptional instruction.

Fantastic experience: Took the OTRA motorcycling course with Kevin and Herick as my instructors. They were phenomenal. I previously had 0 experience riding motorcycles and by the end of the two day course I passed the test. They both effectively communicated the skills necessary to ride a motorcycle safely and gave personal tips on things I needed to improve on throughout the course. As daunting as riding a motorcycle may seem to some, especially those with no experience, they took something potentially daunting and broke it apart into baby steps. At no point did I feel uncomfortable or unsure of myself because I knew I could rely on my instructors for sound advice. If you’re reading this review and even have a slight inclination for motorcycling I’d highly suggest taking the beginner’s course through this school.

Fantastic experience: Herick & Jake were fantastic teachers. I found the course to be comprehensive & well paced. The location was easy to find & lots of parking. There were plenty of options no matter what your size. I would recommend this course to anyone interested in developing motorcycle skills.

Fantastic experience: I took the class the weekend of 7/6 & 7/7 with Herick and Jake. They both did a great job and were very good at teaching myself and the class the basic tools we needed to succeed. I’m thinking about taking the BRC2 with my IRON 883 this way they can make me a better rider. Fantastic experience: I rode motorcycle for many years in India and have skills to handle it on the road. These skills help me in riding a motorcycle here in USA but there are certain factors which can damage you physically (speed & heavy motorcycles can kill) and I am glad that I took MSF at Garden City LI which helped me in changing my mindset a bit i.e. assess & take less risk based on your skillset, don't get in ANY road rage. Herick and Jake were my instructors and both were great in teaching, guiding, and socializing with the entire group of 12 riders. I would recommend taking private lessons from Herick and Jake if you are a beginner rider, you will see a big difference in your skills after few sessions.

Fantastic experience: Eric with an H and Jake were the best instructors anyone could ask for. Even when the weather got brutal and the heat was intense not once did they break there methods of instruction and maintained professionalism throughout.

Fantastic experience: Had the pleasure of joining the OTRA Class 06/01 - 06/02, and couldn't say enough good things about the instructors, motorcycles, and overall experience. Our instructors were Kevin (his first class), Tom, Herick, and Jake. For his first class, Kevin was awesome, funny, and an overall huge help. Fantastic experience: I took the MSF Basic Riders Course at Queensborough Community College with Rafael, Robin, and Peter. All three were patient, informative, and passionate instructors. They incorporated safety, fun, and the perfect amount stern guidance to make you feel confident in going from zero knowledge of a motorcycle to being able to ride and operate one. This is not a course where you can show up and expect to pass. You have to really want to learn and be willing to listen to the instructors. Fantastic experience: Just completed and passed the Basic RiderCourse with this great Motorcycle Safety School. I took this in Bayside Queens with Coach Rafael, Peter & Andrew on the first weekend of May. Very Knowledgeable Coaches who have years of experience in riding. They give good safety tips and assist you along the course. This is a beginner course and can get intense at times but it’s all about learning and it’s whats going to keep you safe as a rider when you’re in the real environment. Highly recommend this course to anyone who is considering getting their motorcycle permits and licenses.

Fantastic experience: An amazing experience. Jake and Peter are skilled and knowledgeable with what seems like a never ending bag of information and guidance. If I had teachers like this in highschool, there would have been a lot more learning going on. From the moment we all made introductions Peter made you feel like part of the group. He was able to calm everyone's nerves immediately. Don't get me wrong from the start you understand how serious this course is and the importance of this program. Safety was number one, explaining that no one goes on a bike before helmets, eye protection and gloves. ALL GEAR ALL THE TIME! They were able to make a jam packed program flow so smoothly, you never felt rushed through any information taught or skills practiced. We drilled over and over again, creating a sort of muscle memory while also absorbing the technical steps that were built on top of each previous exercise. All the while comfortably reinforcing the fact that this is an introductory program teaching the basics of safely operating a motorcycle. Providing us with the understanding that this is a neverending journey of growing the skills that give you the best chances of keeping yourself and others safe on the road. I can't emphasize enough that Peter and Jake transformed a potentially nerve inducing daunting program into a calm and comfortable experience that provided us with more than just physical skills and technical knowledge into a passion and drive to become a great motorcycle operator. Thank you so much ON THE ROAD AGAIN!!!

Fantastic experience: As a first time rider, I was nervous going into the course. However, every coach was extremely patient and knowledgeable and made me feel comfortable and confident. They answered all of my questions and really took the time to explain each maneuver. Best decision I ever made, taking this course!!!

Fantastic experience: Jerry and Herick are wonderful instructors. I've attempted to ride dirt bikes before and was unsuccessful. They're very informative and give great tips to help you ride better. They were both also EXTREMELY patient with me when I wasn't getting the maneuvers correctly. Even pulling me off to the side to practice was really helpful. They made the environment comfortable, and I did not feel judged at all. They also showed praise and excitement when I finally was doing something right. I really hope they get paid well for the amount of work they actually do, and for the amount of information they try and drill into you for safety. I've had a few patients in accidents, and both the instructors emphasize how important it is to make sure YOU keep YOURSELF safe and able to do these life saving maneuvers on the bike. The injuries can be very ugly. Give them a raise!!

Fantastic experience: Took course this past weekend of April 6th and 7th. Had Omar, Kat, and I think Jim and they were great very patient with u. And thought me more in 2 days then I could have imagined definitely recommend these guys for someone wanting to learn how to Ride ! Thanks guys

Fantastic experience: Great all around. The Coaches were all patient, gave clear instructions, and fun to be with. They took every question, always willing to help and teach - their collective experience is off the charts. The bikes and course were adequate for what we were doing, I had no issues mechanically. The weather was not perfect (rain and cold on Day 1) but Coaches were willing to be out there, in good spirits which motivated everyone through it. We happened to have (in my selfish opinion) a great class group with a good mix of rookies and experienced riders. Everyone was encouraging each other and showing support so that made my experience fantastic as I was a first time rider and didnt know what to expect. Would definitely recommend - especially if you have never handled a bike with clutch/shift. Good luck.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience for a first time rider and although the 2 day program was well paced, a lot in terms of knowledge - skills & control was acquired by end of the 1st days training and engaging the wrist muscles, and relevant foot muscles. It was fun and exhilarating while at the same time encouraging and motivating, led by ride coaches Tom, Omar, and Herrick, whose #1 concern was safety. Omar is particularly sharp, amusing, humorous and will coach you intrinsically like he did point out deficiencies - Head positioning, speed control, maneuvering etc etc. which are all part of the learning process - well taken. Was jubilant to receive my license waiver after completion of the 5 skills test, including a free evaluation of what could have been improvised. If you pay careful attention to the instructions, and demos and accept the coach's suggestions/recommendations, you will easily make it a successful event and memorable day. Fantastic experience: This organization does an excellent job is and is only way I was able to learn do ride. It's a bit like school and you do need to 'keep' up so that can be a little nerve racking, but not in a bad way. They're giving you a license to ride a motorcycle so you want to leave with the confidence and understanding that you'll be able to ride on the open road. Friday night was a few hours in the class room. Saturday was on the bikes in the parking lot. Sunday was more practice and then the final road test. I found the instructors to be all around excellent. They were helpful, understanding and experienced. The training starts with just walking with the bike and every skill is then built on top of that. The bikes they train you with are incredibly appropriate. Doing the road test there as part of the course is 100% the way to go. You'll also meet ppl in your class that are excited and learning with you. In my group 15 started and 12 finished with a license. One didn't come back for the second day, an older gentleman never got comfortable and stepped off, and a 3rd failed the road test. That felt totally appropriate as again, if you're getting a license to ride a motorcycle you need to know what you're doing. In short, in one weekend this course will teach you to ride a motorcycle and give you the chance to pass a road test and earn a license.

Fantastic experience: This has been long overdue but better late than never. I took the MSF course back in September 2023. It was a fun and thrilling experience filled with the best instructors out there. I've never been on a motorcycle before and thanks to the instructors, I was able to learn in just two days. On the first day, we had Tom and Adam as our instructors they showed us the basic controls of the motorcycle. Later on, that day we were able to get the hang of riding the bike and then did a couple of practice drills throughout the day. On day two, we had Omar and Herrick. They were great guys with a sense of humor. On day two we recapped what we learned and had a couple more practice drills before taking the road test. Omar and Herrick were especially helpful during the practice drills, they gave us tips on how to better ride the bike and would especially be helpful whenever we had any questions regarding the drill or the bike. The road test went great, and I was able to get endorsed. Overall, it was a great experience, and would recommend this course to any type of rider, especially any beginner.

Fantastic experience: Amazing instructors. One was retired NYPD highway patrol. As a first time rider and former flight instructor, these guys were very good teachers and were very patient with all students. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Let me just preface this by saying I had not even sat on a motorcycle prior to this. Had the pleasure of being coached by Raphael and Pete. They both gave clear instructions and their advice after every mistake was easy to understand and implement. After the 2 day BRC, I felt much more ready to get on and ride. Will definitely go back to sharpen up my skills soon!

Fantastic experience: Let me start by saying that I was either extremely lucky or all of the instructors are like this, but I had the absolute pleasure of being coached by Omar and Pete. These two were funny, caring, very knowledgeable, and wanted everyone in our class to succeed. They would be understanding of your mistakes, but they'd be hard on you when you need it. I went in to this class knowing practically nothing about riding and I've come out of it knowing so much more, wanting to learn even more, and having a desire to enjoy this sport more than I already did. Thank you to Omar and Pete if they read this, and thank you to this program for being such an amazing way to begin your journey into safely being a motorcylist.

Fantastic experience: OTRA is the best Motorcycle school in Queens!!!. This was my very first time on a motorcycle and the instructors Herick and Raphael were terrific. They coached us on areas where we were weak and cheered us on when we did well. They know how to teach effectively, are very patient and encouraging, and are keenly interested in students becoming better and safer riders. Highly recommended school to learn to ride the right way. Fantastic experience: I took my first OTRA basic skills evaluation in 90 degree heat with food poisoning and failed. I thought the instructors were a bit more abrasive than they had to be, but I realized they were just looking out for me. I was on the receiving end of some yelling and profanity, even though I told them how hard I was trying to listen. I must admit, however, that advice does seem to stick a bit better if it rattles you a bit. They likened it to Navy SEAL training, which isn't that crazy - miss a critical piece of instruction in either, and it could cost you your life in the real world. At the end of the day, they were good people working to keep us sharp and attentive. And, to be fair, they were very nice most of the time. I was initially bitter towards the place, but Herrick and Tom were the sweetest guys and helped me pass with ease on my second attempt. Leave your ego at the door, ask questions, take their advice and cling to it, and you will be golden. I have endless respect for all four of the instructors I met, and you should trust that whatever approach they might use has your best interests in mind.

Fantastic experience: Totally recommend! Had first 2 private lessons with Herick, the MSF Basic RiderCourse with Tom and 2 more private lessons with Omar. All 3 were amazing patient and encouraging! Omar knew exactly how to coach me in a way suited for my needs and made me believe in myself!

Fantastic experience: Had an AWESOME experience with Pete and Raphael....great instructors qithblotsbof knowledge and ability to teach. Loads of patience and just a couple of great guys. Learned a lot and will definetly go back for more lessons. Guys were great.

Fantastic experience: Was lucky enough to work with Herrick, Omar, and Tom. Being an unexperienced rider, they made me feel so comfortable with each and every skill we learned. Some took longer than others to learn, and I never felt rushed or bad about not getting it right away. I tend to be very hard on myself , but they took the time to give me (more than one) pep-talk and made me feel so much better. I cannot recommend them enough!

Fantastic experience: Completed the BRC1 with LW 10/21/2023 - 10/22/2023 Excellent experience, both day trainers were very experienced and wonderful. emphasized and explained a lot about road/riders' safety. A great place to build and review your skills. Preparing for BRC2 in the coming spring season.

Fantastic experience: Great training course, great instructors. The bikes were pretty cool to learn on. The instructors were very focused on safety and teaching not only the lesson but why we do certain maneuvers.

Fantastic experience: I would recommend this school to anyone looking to learn how to ride or looking to refresh their skills. I can’t thank Coach Raph and Peter enough. They took something incredibly intimidating and made it approachable. As a person with no prior motorcycle experience, I wasn’t even sure if I was going to be able to complete the course let alone pass the final because of the rain! With their patient approach and thoughtful coaching, they helped build my skills and confidence over the 2 days. I’m walking away with a solid foundation and I look forward to taking future courses with them as I continue my journey into the world of motorcycles!

Fantastic experience: Overall a great experience at Garden City this past weekend (Oct 14-15), completed the MSF Basic Riders Course, Omar and Herick were awesome instructors, couldn’t ask for a better duo. Highly recommend OTRA to all new riders, you won’t be disappointed.

Fantastic experience: My two cousins and I took the MSF basic rider course. We went in to the weekend with no prior experience. The instructors (Peter and Herik), we’re super helpful and we all passed the course feeling much more confident and ready to ride. Fully recommend to anyone trying to learn the basics and begin their motorcycle journey.

Fantastic experience: I took the basic rider class with my cousin and my brother. The instructors Herick and Peter were excellent they were consistently helpful with learning the basics of motorcycling. If you are interested in motorcycling you should take there basic rider class!

Fantastic experience: Great experience, learn new knowledge and techniques. The coaches Marty and Herick are very professional, patient and help to learn needed skills. We will be back next year for the course 2 for sure. We were learning 6 hours a day total of two days in the worst conditions; it rained the whole time but it was great to be there and become one step closer in becoming a good rider. Fantastic experience: I had the opportunity to work with herrick, and Marty, I want to start by saying that they were phenomenal at what they do. I have had no prior experience on a motorcycle before and they made me feel comfortable even though I was not perfect. They helped me learn and understand the basics that I need to continue my journey safely they provided tips throughout the class and were super helpful with anyone who needed anything they made it fun but serious at the same time. These guys take their jobs seriously and only because they care I would recommend this class to anybody who is willing to learn and listen we got the opportunity to ride in the rain this weekend, and it felt very valuable to be able to have the ability to learn in those conditions. I will definitely be back for future classes and cannot recommend them enough.

Fantastic experience: No better way to learn how to properly operate a motorcycle and gain confidence in your riding ability. The sheer fact that they provide you with the motorcycle as well as the instruction on how to properly operate it is unparallel. Originally I did it just to learn how to operate a motorcycle and get my license, but I've been bitten by the bug and I can't wait to get my own motorcycle.
