Fantastic experience: I'm giving this place 5* coming from someone that has difficulty with learning new things these guys have the program on point.... It was a little rough start could have went smoother... The yard instructors have every skill set to help you learn everything you need to know to pass that DMV test..... My BIGGEST shout-outs go to Matt and Juan those two guys need a raise..... some of the other students come though this place are wild and could probably scare the pants off anyone they keep calm cool and collected under all circumstances..... and want to give a thanks to the rest of the crew for doing what they do....

Positive experience: Great Assistance and communication from Office personnel, Classes are overfilled with students, prepare to not do much for half a day or more in some occasions, lastly Please add microwaves for students, having to drive out and spend money during lunch, or rely on cold lunches is an inconvenience, when having access to a microwave would facilitate lunches, other then that, great school, training with diffrent Instructors provides diffrent and necessary perspectives.

Positive experience: Instructors were proficient and knowledgeable with the curriculum, passed my dmv driving test first try. One thing why I didn't give 5 stars is some groups were larger of 5 or more which left little room for one on one time with the instructors or at times it felt rushed. A little disorganized at times but overall a good experience and would recommend.

Fantastic experience: Great instructors and great training! Although the trucks are old and beat up, the back seats are broken in a few of them. But otherwise I would recommend anyone to come to this school

Positive experience: To anyone new joining, thinking you’ll have a license in about a month your wrong. From my experience it all depends on you and how fast you learn, I took my time and at the end I was able to pass and get my CDL. I can understand someone coming into this school with zero experience might be a little harder for them to achieve that. I was very lucky I had truck driver friends and family that help me outside of school otherwise I probably would be writing a bad review but I pass and that was my goal also I didn’t pay out my pocket I had a sponsor lol so I can’t complain it did take me three try’s to get it but it was worth the struggle. The instructor are real cool people though they do their job I’m overall happy with that, the downside is there’s a lot of students and just like everyone you gotta wait your turn and the day drags because you wait till you go again and that’s your time being wasted.

Fantastic experience: Great driving school and highly recommend. The instructors were friendly and really help you to understand the concepts, skills, and what's expected of you both during your dmv test and during your future over-the-road driving. When I attended the instructors were Daniel, Justin, Stacy, Anthony, Tony, Matt, Mike, and Jojo and you'll spend a little time with each one as they all have different insight that may be helpful to you. They were all great and with their help I was able to pass my dmv test my first try. If you're looking to get your CDL I'd strongly suggest checking out this school.

Fantastic experience: I would 100% recommend this 160 driving academy to anyone wanting to get their CDL. Everyone there knows what their talking about and have a lot of experience driving as well. Matt, JoJo, Daniel, Justin, Tony, Tracey, Lora they are all professionals at what they do and are the BEST OF THE BEST. Do not listen to all these negative reviews about the school because like anywhere else, in life... if you are not going to school everyday, and your jus there to be there, YOU WONT LEARN ANYTHING!!! You have to want it, you have to take what each instructor teaches you and also need to meet halfway!! When you go home you need to study, you need practice and keep practicing till you got it down. Every negative review you see are people who don't show up, they complain for nothing because I can tell you right now that every single person there KNOWS WHAT THEIR DOING. Tons of students passed and got their CDl through 160 so that alone should tell you everything. Thank you for everything guys, you are all truly the best!! And I appreciate every single One of you.

Negative experience: great instructors working with the bare minimum equipment. Most of the trucks do not work. Most of your day will be standing around doing nothing. do not pay out of pocket, the administration will drag their feet at every opportunity. Expect at least a month of wait time between dmv appointments with no refresh, and even though the dmv lets you try three times, the school only gives you two. You are not their priority they only care about taking your money.

Andrew Castro 1 year ago

Negative experience: I’m currently enrolled in the school . When you do the first tour of the class they seem super helpful and make you feel you will pass with no issues .. once you get to the yard you’ll quickly notice how opposite it can be .. you get to the yard and they basically give you a packet to memorize on your own and figure out . Hardly any behind the wheel training maybe 30 minutes a day if you’re lucky next week is my last week and i feel so unprepared not to mention you won’t have your DMV appointment untill atleast a month after . I honestly expect to fail at the DMV and I’d say 90% of the students will agree with me .. $5000 down the drain wish i would have read the reviews before signing up here .. UPDATE It’s been a few months now since i completed school i passed my driving test at the smh first try and i want to give a huge thanks to Matt for that . I learned more in one week with him than the other weeks ask for Matt as your trainer if he’s still there

Fantastic experience: Great school better than road master. Definitely need to revise that pre trip list and make it more straight forward/easy. Other than that, it is great trucking school and they set you up for success. If you really want the license you have to put the work for it. You will definitely get drive time since new federal rule Is 10 hours and a lot of skills practice.

Hugo Zuniga 1 year ago

Negative experience: Horrible horrible school. Go to another school! Extremely unorganized. Good instructors except one that cussed me out for absolutely no reason. If you are self paid go somewhere else the ratio here is ridiculous. Extremely unprofessional.

Michael Hughes 1 year ago

Negative experience: 160 drive doesn't have enough instructors for the students they have. The have no lunch time facilities for students such as microwave, refrigerator, etc for students to use (but staff does). They only allow a 30 minute lunch. They don't inform students beforehand to bring a lunch. If it wasn't due to work purposes, I would have never came.

Lucas 2 years ago

Negative experience: Don’t do it please, I want to save everyone the trouble. The whole program is literally a scam. You pay upward to 5 thousand dollars to sit in the yard all day and watch. You don’t get that many road hours to genuinely practice for the DMV. And unfortunately if you’re like myself and a plethora of others, if and when you fail at the dmv due to everything. You can try to make the next appointment and they don’t have any trucks really available for the dmv because a good majority of them are BROKE. I know people that’s been in this program for MONTHS. They also never answer their phone for the front office!

Negative experience: They should call this place 180 driving academy because after you give them your hard earned money they pull a 180 on you. Your first week of class there is this hype and build up until you get to the yard. I can honestly tell you I know what it feels like when a dog is brought to the pound. My first day entering the yard was depressing. All of these sad confused faces waiting their turn, with no direction and all scared to get destroyed at the DMV. I tried not to let this get me down but it was defiantly not what I expected. Between having most of the vehicle not operational or not having enough instructor’s and me having a personal deadline this stressed me out. I came to the realization that they were scamming me on hours in the beginning of the program. At the end of the day you will be asked to sign out on Ipads where the instructors put your daily training hours. On days I’ve driven 30 – 40 minutes max they put me down for a whole hour, I have not once driven a whole hour. When I questioned it they said it will work out in the end. As I got to the end of my training hours this missing time was not given back to me. Between there being so many students in the yard and not enough trucks I was lucky to get 20 minutes a day to perform skills. Generously speaking I would say I got 1 hour of training a day behind the wheel during a 10hr shift. I was promised a 4:1 student to instructor ratio when I signed on and not 14:1. Again I tried to keep a positive prospective of this thinking this is just a rough patch and the school would make this up to me. As time went on I’ve learned my experience was nothing new and is common practice of this place. When you bring these issues up your spoken to like a second-class citizen. I wish I knew this prior to enrolling in this course.

Negative experience: My experience at 160 was horrible. I paid for what I thought was going to be gourmet meal and ended up in a soup kitchen. I really don't know how else to put it. I feel scammed and also very disappointed in myself for not doing more research.

Negative experience: Read the review in the Yelp if u are clueless about this place!! Never ever go to this school, trust me. You will spend the whole day sitting in the truck to watch others student driving, someday u didnot have chance to drive. Horribly, when u chance to drive, the instructor expect u to drive perfectly or they keep yelling acting mad. My first time , he made me drive on freeway and i never have experience and told him not ready then end up he was mad at my driving. Not only me but others in my group also got yelled and criticized. Instructors not give u enough time to practice , he is rude , he didn’t care to help u training.I heard many students didn’t pass from this school. The school should recieve feedback and improve the way they teach. Btw, this instructor, I ll report him to the main office.

Negative experience: I called to get information and the guy that answered was very unprofessional he laughed at the questions while I was still asking it was rude he didn't want to listen to anything I was saying. He talked to me with a very poor attitude I was shocked at the level of professionalism. I immediately knew there is no way I would do business with these people.

Negative experience: This school is a joke don’t waist ur money they don’t train you good they don’t help you u get set up for failure. Also Paul the manager in San Bernardino is the worse thing about the school he just cares about ur money if you complain about anything this guy will retaliate I had an appointment for my test at the DMV this guy had me waiting for 3 hours and the truck never showed up he made no effort to assist me on making sure I was ready for the test it toke 4 weeks for me to test and failed. they want you to fail so they can charge you more money I found a cheaper and better school that help me pass.

Fantastic experience: It is a great school and I really enjoyed my time training there. The instructors are very friendly, patient and helpful in preparing you for your dmv test. I passed the test on my first try thanks to them. Tony, Ruben, Jojo, jamis, and Tim were who I trained with most and they’re who I can give credit to me getting my cdl. Special thanks to Nacho for working with me for most of my training and being especially helpful. He’s a great guy and an awesome instructor. Just stay away from the Anaheim branch. Their instructor wasn’t too nice and could be heard yelling at his students from across the yard.

He is really cool and any issue we have he will make sure it’s good!!!!! 160 has worked with me the whole way thru they never gave up on me know matter how hard it was for me they stuck it out with me and helped me! this was the BEST SCHOOL EVER!!! It really makes you want to learn having positive instructor’s around you and cool vibes!!

Fantastic experience: I just got my CDL today. Great instructors. If you listen to what they say and come ready to learn and determined every single day you will pass. Ruben and Oscar were the main two instructors that got me through the program. They made every day enjoyable. You have to be motivated don’t just expect to show up twiddle your thumbs and think you’re going to pass. All of the instructors were really good to name the ones that I got to work with Ruben, Oscar, Chris, Abel, Michael, Tony, Paul. If you get any of those guys you are in good hands. Make sure you study your pretrip and air brakes at home not only in the yard and soak up all the knowledge that you can. Thankyou guys I appreciate you.

Negative experience: I'm so glad I did not pay out of pocket for this course. Not all Amazon students get the same treatment, many of us get lumped in with the others. Before enrolling I'd suggest you speak with your fellow associates that have come through this course. Tom team gets the VIP treatment when all others just get crapped on. All the experienced instructors are set to work with Tom team and you're left with some newb that just got hired, you just might have to show them how to do the skills because they are clueless or you get an instructor that usually works with Tom students that figures they can be lazy, take longer breaks because the standards for all the other students are so much lower. You'll sit out in the sun for 10hrs to get only 20 min a day behind the wheel time. Then you're forced to use up all of your training hours so they can push you to the side for the next batch of students coming in and then wait 3 months for a DMV appointment. This is not what I expected or was promised.

Fantastic experience: I went to 160 Driving academy in San Bernardino and had a great experience. The first person I spoke to was Paul he got me registered and got me on track to start the schooling and booked my Dmv appointment when it was time to book it. Ed in the classroom was Awesome! he was really knowledgeable and made the classroom a fun and entertaining experience. When I was at the yard the instructors, Daniel, Ruben, Jojo, Jonnae, Chris, Matt and Luis were all great they give you the knowledge and tools on how to pass your drive test. Arlene in the office called me two weeks before my test and set me up with days I can go to the yard to insure I was ready for my test. Then when you graduate the app they have for the school is super helpful and helps you find a job (if needed) thank you to the complete staff at 160 San Bernardino

Negative experience: This is not a 4 week program, you learn this real quick when you enter the yard. If you aren't from Amazon or a pretty female you'll get ignored and have to fend for yourself. I didn't pay my hard earned money to watch other people train as I sit on the side lines. Everyday there are excuses, I didn't make excuses when it was time to pay for the course.

Negative experience: Horrible school unless your an Amazon employee if your looking to go to a school I don't recommend going here too many students at one time you will not learn enough to pass your test I recommend going to a mom and pop school where you will get more 1 on1 training this school is like $5000 please go down the street and pay $2000 you'll be better off

Fantastic experience: I went into this school not knowing one thing about trucks or how they worked. I want to get a better job than where I am at and trucking business called to me. I just passed my class A license test at the DMV thanks to Paul for helping me get started and all the instructors at this academy. They give you everything you need to pass. A paper you can memorize which has all the parts for pre trip and air brakes. And they break down the skills for you to practice until you master it. Big shout out to Ruben, Janye, JOJO, and Brian.

Fantastic experience: Wasn't to sure about going down this road but Paul explained everything in a way that made me comfortable that I am making a good decision... Well, first if your looking for a exciting new career trucking is where it’s at. 160 Driving Academy has given me all of the knowledge, skills and boost of confidence I needed to be successful. The instructors are great! They really develop a bond with the students to ensure they can target there learning abilities to the fullest. I had a great time in the classroom as well as the yard and built interesting relationships with peers as well as instructors that helped me learn more and more everyday, When I went to take my test I felt more than prepared and passed my test with flying colors! I will miss the school now that I have graduated and gotten my CDL. Good luck to all who invest in 160 Academy u couldn’t ask for better training.

Fantastic experience: 160 was a excellent experience with lots of help and great support. The instructors teach you well but it’s up to you to go after the class and skills and retain it . I have nothing bad to say about 160 except hot lunch in the class the first week would have been Great !!! And Paul was of Soooo much Help !!!

Carlos Hernandez 4 years ago

Fantastic experience: First person you meet is Paul he works to prepare you to pass the written portion of the test to get your driving permit. He is great and pays attention to detail. He gives you everything you need to pass your written test. He makes the classroom portion so enjoyable. I really enjoyed the classroom portion. Then once you get your permit your off to learn the driving and skills portion. I met Matt, Aisha and Luis the Instructors at the yard at first there’s was some discourse between the instructors meaning there’s was two different ways they were trying to teach things which caused a little confusion. The students were divided into groups and a instructor was assigned to a group. This became complicated because when your assigned instructor was absent some instructors wouldn’t help you so you were basically left on your own. I was told by Luis a stick shift instructor that they didn’t teach automatic students and basically left me to fend for myself. Matt kinda took the leadership role and he was always more than happy to help you regardless of wether he was your instructor or not. I was assigned Aisha as a instructor. I noticed that there wasn’t enough instructors and so they couldn’t provide one on one instruction. Driving was limited because of the lack of instructors. Unfortunately it took me about a year to get my license no thanks to Covid, DMV and they being so backed up when I got there. I see that they got many new instructors now which is great. Matt and Aisha were great instructors and I’m guessing Luis might be great if you get him as a instructor but he won’t lift a finger to help another student if they are not assigned to him. I did call corporate to let them know of my situation and they did their best to correct it which I appreciate it and that’s all I can ask. Overall it was a great experience slight hiccups along the way but nothing that wasn’t correctable.

Fantastic experience: I am writing this review to discuss my experiences with the staff and driving instructors for the 160 Driving Academy, San Bernardino branch. I recently earned my CDL through the San Bernardino branch and felt that by sharing my experiences it could help those possibly looking into getting a CDL. Before choosing this school I looked into various schools around the area. I compared cost, services, and professionalism. I chose 160 because I felt they provided the best value for my hard-earned money. Paul, the office manager, sat with me and explained everything about the process. He was considerate, and concerned about my needs, and was always available to answer questions as they came up. The first week is spent in the classroom. During this week you go over all the information you will need to know to pass your written test (permit test). I had no previous experience with the commercial manual, but through the class, and my at-home studying I was able to pass the written portion the first time. Permit in hand I moved on to the hands on portion of the academy. The driving instructors are professional, knowledgeable, and meticulous in the skills they are teaching you. I worked closely with Matt, Luis, Ruben, Andrew (aka Barstow) and Jo Jo. Their job is to prepare you for the behind-the wheel portion of the test. They walk you through each aspect of the test you will have to master (pre-trip, air brakes, skills portion, and on-the-road). It can be overwhelming at first, but the instructors are able to break each section down systematically to help you retain the knowledge and skills to pass your test. In conclusion, I would recommend this school without a second thought to my closest friends and family.
