Fantastic experience: Awesome

Negative experience: The instructor, I think his name was Paul, is very nice and did a good job teaching the class. Though I don't recommend taking the driving portion of the test here. If you get unlucky and get the lady in the office you will have an unpleasant time. I've had her say to hurry up cause she wanted to go somewhere after the test. I'd recommend taking your drivers test else where.

Fantastic experience: Lindsay at Academy was AWESOME. A true master in her field. Very friendly and professional. Explained the requirements of the test in a clear and concise way that made both myself and my son feel at ease. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Great experience from start to finish. The office lady is very kind and helpful. My daughter was extremely nervous for her road test. Mainly the parking portion of it. Paul was laid back and because of his upbeat, laid back attitude, my daughter was able to relax and focus. Highly recommend.

Negative experience: The woman handling the appointments is extremely rude and condescending. She’s no help whatsoever with questions. Paul, the instructor was wonderful teaching the students. Our Daughter passed the written portion of Segment 2 with flying colors, but due to that woman being so unprofessional, we scheduled her Driving/Road Test somewhere else.

Fantastic experience: My road exam was administered here with friendly professionalism, I recommend Academy Driving school.

Fantastic experience: Fiendly, professional, and fair.

Negative experience: I took my road test here and the woman that did the test was rushing it. She was telling me to go at a yellow light and then it turned red. I was barely over the white line and I failed. I felt really uncomfortable but I tried to stay calm. She was really negative from the beginning. Even when I scheduled the test she wanted me to give my card information over the phone. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Fantastic experience: After experiences w/ 2 other well known driving companies near us, we are sooooo grateful to have been recommended to Academy Driving School in Lapeer!! Paul was very understanding, easy to talk with, and relaxed which helped our daughter feel most comfortable. He took time with us, explained the instructions, & what to do. So glad we invested in a switch of plans, and went with ADS. We'll be back when it's time for our son!

Fantastic experience: This is a top knotch place. Paul was a great instructor that created an atmosphere that was professional but also relaxed enough to help ease my son's nerves as he took his driving test. Thank you for a great experience. I highly recommend Academy Driving School.

Fantastic experience: Paul is great! My son was very nervous prior to his test, but Paul’s approach to teaching helped him relax and just focus on driving. I definitely recommend Academy!!! Paul also posts videos on YouTube so new drivers know what to expect which really helped my son prepare for his test. If I could give more than five stars, I absolutely would!!

Fantastic experience: When I went there I wasn't thinking it was gone be boring but it was so fun I learned alot and they had a sick TV system and Paul was the greatest

Negative experience: One instructor is quite difficult to respect and talks down to everyone. Belitting the kids around him while playing YouTube videos for the entire class.

Negative experience: Very unprofessional. I was asking a question and they were very rude and hung up on me.

Fantastic experience: I took segment one here and was about to take my road test, but there were some complications with papers on my end. The lady who was going to take my test was super nice. I definitely want to be able to take my test there soon.

Fantastic experience: The instructors at Academy especially Mr Paul are very experienced and knowledgeable. They are the best at the business. He helped me not only to pass my driving test but also to become a prudent and careful driver in real life. Any amount of praise for him will fall short as he showed patience and trust that all new drivers need. Going anywhere else than to Academy will be a mistake.

Fantastic experience: I got there and my stomach was in knots from nerves, them i met the Paul who was testing me and he put my mind at ease. He was very observant and also very fair, if i could give them 10 states i would and will be referring anyone who asks to this business.

Negative experience: Most horrible place ever!! Cant teach for krap!

Positive experience: My teen-ager learned here. No accidents yet.

Positive experience: Very relaxed learning environment, but the instructors (Paul) are very on top of their students. They don't kid around during the drives nor in the classroom. If you are looking for a strict no-nonsense environment, this isn't for you! The downside is the classroom is small and a bit messy, as well as the facilities, but nothing too awful. Cheap, good, and a very efficient way to get Segment 1 out of the way.

Fantastic experience: It was great. I went I. For a driving test, they set the date to show up I did and I took the test with Paul he was very nice and passed me.

Fantastic experience: Both of my kids took their road test here. It is a layed back atmosphere to teach the kids, not to intimidate or make them more nervous. Highly recommend !

Fantastic experience: Nice people, went there when i was 16 and again at 32 years old. For the negative reviewers try teaching your kid to drive and listen to what the lady says when your scheduling an appointment. You would know your car has to be in working condition.

Negative experience: The first conversation to schedule a road test for my daughter the lady said "make sure you have proof of insurance and registration also parent and level 1 and level 2 documents". I had all of the documentation needed but my daughter was a week "early" from the 6 month time frame (no mention there is a time restriction). Rescheduled and paid the additional $20 for the second trip. The lady in the office was rude and my daughter failed for "tapping" the cone on parallel parking. Was not told that she could pull back out of the spot and try again until after the lady called me over and failed her. Then when I asked why she couldn't just try now since we were just informed of this she said it's to late. Then was told that I had to pay another $45 to re-take the test. Would highly discourage using this school for a road test. They just want your money and not SAFE informed drivers!

Negative experience: Horrible, my credit card number was used an hour after giving it to academy for a driver's test. When I called to ask about it, the owner was just rude and defensive...WATCH OUT.. not a credible business!
