Negative experience: The person in charge is incredibly rude and unprofessional. My sister passed her driver's test today but the proof of course completion was never sent, so she can't get her license until it's sent over. We called to inquire about this and were treated in the most rude way imaginable. Snarky comments about "struggling to make the payments" even though the course has been paid in full, and just overall one of the most rude and unprofessional interaction I've ever experienced. For the money you have to pay for this course, the way we were talked to is simply unacceptable. If you need to have your child undergo a driving course, I highly recommend going elsewhere unless you like being treated like garbage. Edit: Payment history shouldn't even be brought up, payments were made late due to family things that came up, but the company still got all of their money by the end of the course and has nothing to do with my complaint, they just want to be petty and childish, which is reinforced by their reply. Run by a bunch of rude, high-and-mighty people with no empathy or class, clearly.

Unfortunately she took her last lesson Sunday afternoon, and then went to the dmv Monday morning …. So no the proof of course completion had not yet been entered it’s spelled out for you in your contract that it can take up to 5 business days this is something that needs to be manually entered and doesn’t go through immediately.

You fail to mention that we did work with you which is why you were able to finish the course without penalty even when payments were not made.
You chose to go to take your last lesson Sunday night and your test Monday morning knowing your completion wouldn’t be entered since no one was in the office to do it.

Negative experience: I was charged 150 dollars. 1hour driving for my daughter.

We don’t charge $150/hr. So you are either reviewing the wrong school or are very confused. If your daughter is in fact a student here I would suggest calling us Mon-Fri. It sounds like you likely signed up for the payment plan and made your first $150 payment and your next payment is due before you can continue scheduling lessons.

Fantastic experience: Always easy to schedule.. but do need to do it immediately after completing one behind the wheel - otherwise fill up. Instructor was patient and gave great feedback. Always on time. My daughter felt safe, and liked the variety of places she drove.

Fantastic experience: I sent my first child through another school. It was awful. We could never schedule, it took them 8 months to complete their lessons and they got their license late even though they diligently stayed on top of it. When they did actually schedule they always canceled. So we decided to try safety first since they pick up and drop off from home. I talked to Nikki on the phone who was super nice .I asked about the reviews and she said they’d been in business for a very long time and never ask for reviews, they have enough business from word of mouth.. so people only write them when they’re mad and it’s often multiple people.. that made sense I don’t write reviews unless I’m mad haha. Which is why I’m writing one now. Wow what a different experience. My child took a lesson regularly!! It was an average of about every 2 weeks. They make it so simple to schedule if you just read their directions new lessons go up mon through Thursday in the afternoon. Their instructor was kind, patient and knowledgeable. They did cancel once due to illness but we still got done in 3 months with 3 to spare before they could get their license! Do yourself a favor and use safety first. To top it off they picked up and dropped my child off from home!

Thank you Leslie. I personally had the opportunity to take your son out over the summer, he is a very polite young man and was a pleasure to teach. :-)

Fantastic experience: Great teacher.

Negative experience: Not that great of an experience. Teacher had absolutely no classroom control and forced a kid with dyslexia to read to the class. After a few minutes, the student couldn't handle it and walked out. Also, had to wait months for driving lessons and most of the instructors were very instructive.

I am sorry to hear you were unhappy with your experience. Your classroom experience doesn't sound familiar in fact we regularly work with students of varying disabilities if they require special treatment their parents should let us know ahead of time as not to bring it up in front of an entire class. Our students generally really get along great with their instructors and rarely meet more than one or two since we schedule students with the same instructor for all of their lessons, sounds like you somehow had a very different experience than most students. I'm sorry that we didn't meet your expectations, but congratulations on completing Drivers education regardless and please remember to buckle up and stay safe on the roads!

Fantastic experience: Nikki has been very accommodating and works well with my teens schedule. The instructor has way more patience than I do! Great prices great service. Hugely recommended to any one I know that has a teen learning to drive

Negative experience: DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS BUSINESS!!!! They have very limited appointments and very poor customer service!!! They rarely answer the phone and when they do, the people are RUDE! Take your money elsewhere.***UPDATE*** In response to the owner response listed below, my discontent is NOT about not getting what I want. I am disappointed in the lack of customer service skills and inability to problem solve. As stated during my call, I understand policy and procedures, and I did not ask for my son to be treated differently. I made you aware of the problem we were having and hoped that you could offer advice or a solution. Instead you were hostile, rude, and defensive. Not to mention, you basically called me liar (when stating that I did not look for earlier appointment times) and disconnected the phone call. That, in fact, is VERY rude, unprofessional. and demonstrates poor communication and customer service. THAT IS WHY I LEFT THE REVIEW!

Ms. Brown called this morning because she wanted an earlier appointment. Her son had booked himself a 6pm appointment. The earliest time he was able to switch to currently was 1pm. She was not happy with this and wanted an earlier time another student had already booked so unfortunately she was not able to have it. She then wanted her son to be able to book appointments before other students. Unfortunately these are not requests we are able to accommodate as they would be unfair to our other students.
While we can understand not getting what you want can be frustrating, we feel strongly that we are working in the best interest of our students as a whole when we treat them all equally and fairly.
I stayed very calm and was polite, I was just unable to give you the answer you wanted.
When you continued to escalate the call I did let you know I was going to have to hang up. This was after letting you yell at me uninterrupted for some time. I think leaving 3 back to back reviews from 3 accounts (all with the same last name so it’s super obvious) makes it pretty clear the level of anger and immaturity I was dealing with. Simply because your son booked a 6pm appointment and wanted to go earlier.

Brown Jr 4 years ago

Negative experience: Their scheduling system and availability sucks! They only schedule 3 weeks out and offer no morning appointments. Then said it was my fault that I didn't ask about morning appointments prior to enrolling..... Bad customer service

Safety First Driving School

Morning appointments are in fact available over the summer which was explained to your mother over the phone. Not during the school year. You booked a 6pm appointment William. If you had wanted an earlier appointment you would have needed to book one. I went back and looked. You booked your appointment on Monday the 28th. Your mom claimed she looked for a morning appointment for 2 weeks (which would be impossible) a 9am appointment sat up from Tuesday the 29th until it was finally booked on Sunday July 3rd…

Negative experience: So after receiving your emails with exactly how to book and pay it was easy to do. After trying to give them a second chance to still do business with them..They got mad and tried to blame me for their untrained staff ,who answers phones. I was going to post all the emails I had with this owner but I'm not but if anyone has questions I'll be more then happy to show my call log and emails regarding the issues. BE aware of this place. They blame the customer for their poor communication skills and claim that animosity against their staff only because I made a review telling people about their poor communication. So they refused my daughter for service. It's okay because I took my business else where and they are very professional and understanding. Customers have no reason to make up stories. We have nothing to gain but when it's wrong I surely will speak up because it will save the next person a bad experience just like ours. Incase anyone wants to know it was the owner who emailed so I was told. Very very uneducated, unpleasant, unprofessional place of business. They always blame the customer and never take responsibility for their own staff actions. When the old owner was there it was run very differently and pleasant. As I already had a daughter that took their course. Completed everything was very happy with the service. So that's why years later I came back for my second child biggest mistake..she finished her online January and we are in March and barely after writing a bad review is when I received emails back. The new owners are not professionals. Did I mention that I also went in person to get answers and it was a basement that is their office!!!!! No one was there next door people said they never saw anyone. So that explains alot. Be aware parents Do Not book with them!!!

You have to sign up for behind the wheel to take lesson. You didn’t. It doesn’t just happen. When you approached us by belligerently we chose to refuse service. I think it was in both our best interest you go elsewhere.

Negative experience: Run! Do not use these people. They took my money as a secondary company to kc driving school online. People are rude...so much that id rather pay another school than this place. My daughter and i went to their location that was closed and in a basement. Use easy method or arcade. She didnt have one lesson. Save yourself a headache. And you can respond all you want safety first!! Filed additional complaint with paypal again! Yep read below...i prove my point..call my email bizzare..whats bizzare is how you have a 2 part co. System that takes out peoples money..i paid 90 for the online temps course and had to sign for a form for her to take her to the dmv for test..next thing i know...255.00 was taken out. Thatssss bizarre. I wouldnt trust my kid with you people.

Safety First Driving School
Safety First Driving School

PayPal refused all of your complaints for a reason immediately. We have zero access to your account. You have to fill out a contract, at which point your sent a PayPal invoice… you have to pay that invoice.. you’re then sent your mv3001 form which you have to take to the dmv. You completed all these steps and then claimed you didn’t.

Negative experience: Terrible unprofessional business that has tanked since the original owner was passed. Take your money elsewhere!

Yuniqua Lewis 6 years ago

Negative experience: Ms. Janet is very rude, unprofessional and racist. She hung up on me while trying to get our new driver signed up for her behind the wheel. We have asked to speak with someone else regarding the matter multiple times and she has refused. Don’t waste your time or money. Multiple members of our family has went to safety first and now that Mr. P is gone we have had nothing but problems.

Lisa-Marie Franco-Garcia 6 years ago

Negative experience: Terrible, terrible, terrible experience, the owner and the staff/instructor are both rude, unprofessional and unreasoning from the beginning the instructor was unapproachable to my son and other students. she talked to my son in a undermining manner and when he told me about it, I called the school to talk to her right off the bat the lady was the same way with me. When my husband took my son to retest we mistaken the day and she did not let my husband talk to her to resolve the matter, she was RUDE and shut the door on his face, not even allowing a reschedule or any sort of communication, I right away called she would NOT let me speak to the owner to discuss the matter. I will NEVER recommend this company to anyone! They have the worse people skills, customer service skills I've ever seen in my life!!!! UGLY ATTITUDE!! They shouldn't even have this business! They don't have patience for anything or anyone!

Negative experience: Very Unorganized and my driving teachers were switched multiple times making it hard for me. With the multiple switches, I had to keep on telling each new instructor, what parts I was trained on. They sat on the passenger seats trying to figure out where I was caught up on so my lessons were basically wasted. Don’t go here to waste your money!

Negative experience: The 27th street location was unprofessional, and very unhelpful which is a disappointment. Difficult time communicating with the owner about the certificates and of information. Dont bother! There are better places else where.

Fantastic experience: I've sent all 3 of my kids through Safety First over the last 7 years. Been happy every time, hands down the best school around. They really care about their students.

Carlos Huerta 9 years ago

Fantastic experience: great experience all the way through for my daughter. Instructors really cared that they were actually learning in class and in the car. Very different experience than we had with our older son at another school.

Jake Gorski 9 years ago

Fantastic experience: Very fun! Was cheaper than the other driving schools and got the class done in only 3 weeks. Behind the wheel lessons were easy to schedule and they picked me up and dropped me off at home and school.

Alan McMinigal 9 years ago

Negative experience: Son attended classes, was very happy with those. He arranged his first lesson. Instructor turned up 3 weeks early. He was still asleep. When he called up to find out what happened, the owner told him he owed them $30 for the missed appointment, so he attempted to point out that he couldn't miss an appointment he knew nothing about. He asked the lady on the phone to talk to me, as she wasn't listening to him. She then proceeded to tell me the same thing, when I started to point out that he only had one lesson booked in 3 weeks time, she started talking over me, saying the same things again. I asked her to allow me to speak, when she started talking over me again, I asked, admittedly in a slightly raised voice, to allow me to talk. She then accused me of threatening her. The call continued in such a bizarre manner until she hung up on me. My wife called, listened to her, asked to speak, but this lady seemed intent on calling my son, me and my wife liars. We're getting $99 back and will happily go elsewhere. This woman was so rude, a simple discussion, even not accepting blame for her mistake, simply rescheduling and I'd have been satisfied, but she had to be right. She wasn't. __________________________________________________________ Update following the reply from the business owner. Well this is getting more and more bizarre. No threats were made, simply asked to be allowed to talk. You mentioned the Police after accusing me of threatening you. At no time did I even mention the Police. Worst customer experience ever.Sooner I get our money back, as well as necessary certificates, the better. Yes, my wife refused to give you her email address because you were accusing us of being liars over such a simple matter, we wanted nothing more to do with you. Certainly didn't want you contacting us directly. Please provide refund and any certificates of completion as soon as possible.

Wendy Higgins 10 years ago

Negative experience: In April of 2014 I enrolled my daughter at the Safety First Driving School located in Oak Creek, WI, at a total price of $279 which was to include the required classroom , behind the wheel and observation. I enrolled her there only after researching their website and talking with Janet (owner’s mother) who explained to me the services Safety First offered such as picking up/dropping off my daughter at home for behind the wheel lessons and so on. My daughter completed her required 30 hours of classroom on April 25th, 2014. From this point on it has been a struggle to get appointments for her required 6 hours of behind the wheel and 6 hours of observation. I called Safety First repeatedly for weeks to setup an appointment for her first driving lesson, I did not hear from them until I received a text on June 8th from Mike one of the driving instructors. He picked My daughter up at late and dropped her off early June 12th, 2014, parking lot on 13th and College, where she practiced going back and forth and then was dropped back She only received approximately 45 minutes of driving that day with no observation. I did find out later that Mike had marked her paperwork as having the observation completed on June 12th, even though she did not have any observation on that day. Getting her second behind the wheel scheduled was another struggle and again after repeated calls and text messages, I was finally contacted on July 21st, 2014 from Mike. We scheduled my daughter’s appointment for July 23rd however this time he requested that I drop her off because picking her up and dropping her off at our home was now out of his way. We confirmed with Janet, as well as it being posted on their website that they do in fact pickup and drop off up to Hwy G which we are located before Hwy G. I would not have chosen Safety First, if they did not agree to pick up and drop her off at our home been 3 months since she completed classroom and had only 1 driving lesson to this point (for appox 45 minutes). Again, on July 23rd Mike was late picking Sarah up and dropped her off early with no observation again. When my daughter and I had both questioned Mike, but at different times, about the observation he told us both that it was not really necessary and that all the kids do in the back seat is text anyway. I was not comfortable with Mike telling me there was no need for observation and that he was just marking it on the paperwork as being completed so on August 4th 2014, I contacted the DMV to inquire on what the requirements for observation are, I spoke with Amber and was information that observation is a state law unless the student has 9 hours of behind the wheel. That same day, Amber (DMV) contacted Janet at Safety First to investigate my concern and shortly thereafter I received a voice message from Janet at Safety First informing me that she would be sending me a check for $79 and a certificate of completion. I was not asking for a refund from Safety First I was merely trying to make sure that my daughter was receiving the requirements of the Wisconsin state driving laws. How this inquiry translated into kicking my daughter out of driving school I do not know. Furthermore this means that according to Safety First it cost $200 for classroom and 2 driving lessons and the remaining 4 driving lessons and the 6 behind the wheel lesson on cost 79? When I called Janet to question this she simply said if you are so unhappy here we will mail you a certificate of completion and a check for $79 and hung up on me. I still have not received my refund my child is now at another driving school which I had to pay for all over again please go on the the BBB and file a complaint if you have had trouble with SAFTY FIRST DRIVING SCHOOL Please also file with the DMVwe need to get this School checked out to make sure the law is follow and our children are being taught right ( not just taking our money )

Fantastic experience: Fun awsome experience being in class with Mr.P R.I.P. Very interactive and once i was ready to hit the road with instructor milan, he corrected me on what I was doing wrong and helped throughout the whole way until I went to take my exam and passed!!!

Emily Trific 11 years ago

Fantastic experience: I took drivers ed with Milan at the Milwaukee location. The classroom experience was overall well organized and well-taught. I got a perfect score on the permit test because of how well Milan prepared me. The behind the wheels were fun and he taught me based on what i needed help with, not by what the book says to teach each time. I was VERY well prepared for the road test having only had my temps for exactly 6 months. I only got one point thanks to Milan. I would definitely recommend it!

Suzy Scotty 11 years ago

Positive experience: I took drivers ed in the Milwaukee Location with Milan and it was fun! We did lots of work in the class and he prepared us very well for the permit test. When it came to driving, he was a good teacher too! I only got 5 points off, thanks to his instruction. I recommend Safety First!

Darina Shapko 11 years ago

Negative experience: My experience as a parent was huge disappontment! I,parent, didnt feel very comfortible being in the car with teenager. This is EXACTLY WHY I hired PROFESSIONALS. For $300.00 my student got temps within 2 weeks, and 6 month of arguments with driving instructor, who was booked, out of town,on vacation, unavailable ect. Then I was told that this is "on parent" to teach my student to drive, and instructor will come once in the while, I am guessing, to make sure driving is going well:)Really?.... Can somebody explain to me WHY to hire school,if I have to do it by myself? WHAT did I pay for? there is NOTHING about it mentioned on their website. When the nstructor finaly came, his car was not equipped with extra pedals on his/instructor side, just had a sign with the name of the school. Scary to me. These people just making money easy way, they will not give you or your child what needed. I hope my review will help someone make right decision.

Safety First Driving School
Safety First Driving School

Teens were required at that time to spend 30 hours with a parent or another adult practicing.. now it’s 50. 6 lessons is not enough to make anyone a safe and competent driver which is why this requirement exists. If you were uncomfortable doing so you could have asked someone else or purchased the extra lessons to make up for it. You did neither so of course they didn’t learn everything they needed to

Trevon Hall 11 years ago

Fantastic experience: Great Driving School I love Ms. Kathy [Classroom teacher] she was a blast, Mr. P is very nice but I do have to say that the scheduling could be a little better, and they had a secretary at the two locations to help make things run smoothly. Other than that it was fun, I learned a lot and if I had to take driver's education all over I would come back to Safety First plus who can beat that price :-)
