Fantastic experience: Great staff. Went to this school and knew nothing about driving trucks or even how to drive a manual, but each instructor were patient with me and showed me everything I need to know. Got my CDL at 22 and been driving trucks on my own now for about 5 months so far. 10/10

Positive experience: I have just earned my class A CDL with the Tankers, Hazmat, Combonation/Doubles&Triples, and Air Brakes endorsements attached! It took a lot of personal dedication to get it done, but I also had the instructors at Advanace Bus and Truck School to help me as well. The first instructor is Michael Johnson. I spent most of my time training one-on-one with him; he was tough and patient at the same time and he got me through my hard days by making me laugh. He has 30 years experience in trucking, so I felt comfortable training by him. I learned how to safely navigate in traffic and on the freeway and how to "protect the public from themselves". Next is Julie. She is a very kind person that runs the permit class and backing skills mostly. She is very patient as well and doesn't mind explaining things in different ways so that everyone is on the same page. Next is Brenda. She also runs backing skills and shifting skills mostly. She is thorough with her explanations and breaks things down to the basics when you're doing it the wrong way. Next are Francis and Woodrow. They are usually in the office running things but when they trained with me I found that their teaching styles were tougher and more direct. All in all, I got to have a lot of one-on-one training due to the logistics of the pandemic and I am so grateful for that! I learn better with individualized attention. They were a bit unorganized because of the pandemic and other factors like a shortage of staff on some days, but if you don't mind the excitement of not knowing what you're going to be doing everyday, this is the school for you! Remember, it is ultimately up to the student to make their dreams become a reality, so if you're considering, study hard because I got my permit and endorsements before attending the school and it really helped me focus on the other stuff in the curriculum binder with the instructors. There are backing diagrams, shifting cheat sheets, pretrip info and more in the curriculum binder, so I memorized as much of it as I could before my DMV test date and I passed. Fantastic experience: Advance Bus & Truck School helped me get my Class A License in 8-9 weeks as they had projected & allowed me to see that it was possible. They are also very helpful in figuring out financing options if you are in the low income category. Unfortunately, I didn’t qualify for the public grant funding - but Woodrow is quite versed in how to connect you with WorkNet (EDD). The instructors at this school are providing a great service to our community. They may be rough on you, but it is to bring out the best in you. Advance prepares you to not just pass the DMV test, but to be a lifelong learner who keeps safety at the forefront of everything. The life lessons on safety, efficiency, mentality, & focus to achieve success were paramount in my experience. Plus, the instructors at the school have a good relationship with the test proctors at the Stockton DMV. This is a big deal because they provide you with many tips - you also don’t have to schedule the DMV appointment yourself. The DMV is aware of Advance’s reputation, so they collect a school roster and prioritize you for an appointment. I had never driven a manual transmission until attending this school & now I feel competent in my ability to control a 10 speed combination commercial vehicle. Woodrow: You did very well to differentiate yourself from the other schools by being generous with your time & straight forward about the process. Your knowledge is admirable & I will always appreciate what you’ve created at Advance. Mike: You’re the meanest of the bunch, but I know it’s because you have a big heart & you care very much. Your voice is still the one I hear when downshifting - 8th gear - “UNDER 30!!” I could not have done it without you. Brenda: Your patience with & confidence in your students is inspiring. I feel like you & Mike have a good cop/bad cop thing going haha. I appreciate your kindness & ability to relate to students. You were always encouraging when I was struggling. Julie: You were the most technical of the bunch. I learned a great deal of specialized knowledge from you regarding the pre-trip. I can see why you’re mostly in charge of the permit students. You were always professional & I feel you have a gift for teaching. Francis: You were one of the first instructors I saw upon entry. Your positive spirit & calming aura allowed me to feel at ease when I may have been stressed or nervous at times. You were the one who signed me up & got me through the admissions process. Thank you for making that part of it so easy to understand. Marilyn: I didn’t speak with you much during my time with Advance, but I see that you are the backbone of that operation when it comes to the administrative end. I appreciate you being on point anytime I had a question. Overall: Great family orientated atmosphere that feels like a safe place to learn. The advanced will prepare you to be a safer driver not only in a commercial vehicle but also in your personal vehicle. pay attention plan ahead and properly position yourself, I am now employed as a commercial driver I really believe this program is the best in the Central Valley and Bay Area as they will prepare you to learn how to drive a 10-speed truck. In return you will have more confidence when you apply for a job and take your road test. I have a lot of confidence as a new driver all because Advance bus and truck driving school was willing to take the time to invest into me of course you have to work hard here no cutting corners. Fantastic experience: By far the best truck and bus school around. They have a classroom environment, hands on and behind the weel curriculum. In class you read and watch videos on how your truck operates and handles. When you go out to the Yard you practi9 what you read and watched on the videos. The schools location is great because they can take you out driving with out ever leaving the port and it's like driving on the city streets with out leaving the port... I highly recommend this school, great instructors and curriculum.

Fantastic experience: With so many schools to choose from I originally went to a different school closer to my house although I actually wanted to go Advance I figured I would learn the same thing anyhow but I couldn't have been more wrong. At Advance they teach you how to drive so that you understand how to drive any type of any truck whereas at the other place you only learned on one truck and always the same truck because all they wanted to do was get you to pass the test even though once you were done you wouldn't know how to drive a different truck because you weren't taught how to do that. Lucky for me I did end up switching schools and coming to Advance. I say lucky because at Advance I actually got what I wanted my CDL and the skills to drive any big rig. If you are serious about truck driving then this is the place for you!

Fantastic experience: ‘Advance Bus & Truck Driving School’ is a top notch professional training institution. I now have my class A commercial license with tanker, hazmat, doubles/triples and passenger vehicle endorsements. After checking out the competition making the decision to go with this school was easy. Woodrow Lucas is a great guy and an excellent instructor who understands people very well and he and his staff know how to tailor their instructions to suit different people’s learning capabilities. The 3 tractors/trailers and 1 bus are clean, well maintained and reflect the modern equipment found in the real world. Other schools waste valuable class time preparing for and taking the written tests. At ABTDS this is considered homework and when I showed up on the first day of class with my permit I started driving right away. Classroom instruction is followed immediately with applying those skills on the road or at the backing maneuvers skill site which easily accommodates 3 vehicles simultaneously if needed. ABTDS focuses on producing safe and aware drivers, not just on passing the DMV behind the wheel tests. I drove the truck/bus every day around the port area and fields at first and then all over Stockton and beyond on all types of roads and in different areas. This has been a very positive, rewarding and enjoyable experience. After I finished my training I was able to find a local job within a week. I am grateful for ‘Advance Bus & Truck Driving School’ helping me prepare for my new career.

Fantastic experience: This is hands down the best school in Stockton in my opinion. The instructors are great and work with your schedule. The best part is they don't train you to just pass the dmv test...they show you how to drive and above all to do it SAFELY.If your looking into getting a class A or B license...check them out.

Fantastic experience: Advance Bus Truck is a great program. I had a great experience with my trainer Francis. She had me on the rural roads of Stockton by the end of the week and driving within town on the second week. We had morning meeting with Woodrow and making sure we were working towards being safe and learning the curriculum. I can't thank Woodrow and Francis enough for their part in getting my CDL.
