Fantastic experience: They were very good at calming down nervous drivers. Helping them to make the best decisions and were more concerned with helping a student to do their very best than and succeed. They also put very real situations into students heads to ensure they know the dangers of driving and how to best avoid it.

Fantastic experience: Very nice instructors, along with drivers. The class goes very smoothly and very well taught. I learned everything I needed to learn very quickly and got a very good understanding. I got my driving time done in the first week and a half of the class. I know people that go to other driving schools that finished their classes months ago, and haven’t driven once. KMD is DEFINITELY the best choice!

Fantastic experience: Took the basic rider course this weekend. Came in never having ridden a motorcycle at all. Justin and Brian were great teachers especially in a team. They took me from death grip on the handle bars to actually feeling comfortable on the bike in just 10 hours. Justin is firm on fixing issues that will get you hurt or killed later while providing real life stories to drive that home. Brian is great at giving you tips to fix issues or getting you to think for yourself if you get too stuck on just passing the test rather then safe driving. I would highly recommend learning from the two of them it was fun and immensely informative.

Fantastic experience: Great driving school! Classes are 3 weeks long, Monday-Thursdays. If a driving instructor had to cancel with a student for weather, they work quickly to get driving time rescheduled. They get the students hours in to be finished by the end of the actual classes. My daughter enjoyed the classroom instructors Nate and the owner Mike. Highly recommend!!

Fantastic experience: Our experience has been nothing but wonderful. The classes are super convenient and well organized. All information has been taught in a way my daughter could easily understand. All Information for Parents has been easy and well communicated. Nathan is an amazing teacher. He really knows how to connect with the kids and make them feel comfortable so they can be successful. Driving time was scheduled promptly and conveniently for all kids. My daughter genuinely really enjoyed the class and has come out with respect for the road but confidence in being able to drive now. Thank you to Nathan, you do such a great job.

Fantastic experience: The drivers ed part was very comfy and Mike makes it very easy for you to learn if you're willing to listen. My driver was Nathan and when I say he was a ninja in the passenger seat he did amazing lol. Not only does he teach driving well but he makes it fun to. Wouldn't choose any other place over this one.

Fantastic experience: my car needed a jumpstart one day and Nathan had just gotten off shift here he was the only person to have jumper cables and offer me a jump. was extremely helpful and had an enjoyable conversation. I may not have experience with KMD but if he's doing things like that off the clock I can imagine he does a lot to help students with their driving! and Nathan if you read this just to update you I have now purchased jumper cables. - Devon

Very informative when I was in class with him while still having personality and having humor too. Would ask him to be the instructor for my younger friends or future children if he is still working there.

Fantastic experience: KMD driving school offers private lessons and my wife had a private test with Mike Perkins. Mike is a wonderful teacher, patient, extremely knowledgeable and likeable person. His parallel parking techniques are super easy to learn, he will make you a master at parallel parking! My wife passed with flying colors because of Mike. We couldn't be happier with KMD driving school and Private lessons from Mike.

Fantastic experience: Nathan was my driving instructor here and classes with him were very chill, you had to not worry at all, and driving with him, you come out feeling proud of yourself rather than worried and stressed on how you did, he's a great teacher! Give the man a raise!!

Fantastic experience: KMD is a great avenue to getting your permit. The people there are super nice and helpful. Nathan was my driving instructor and he is a very good teacher. Always helped when I had questions both in the classroom and in the car driving. If you are looking for a driving school for yourself or your kids I would highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: am so proud of my babygirl she passed her Driving Test for her permit. She just needs a few more hours of driving time but will officially have her permit by next week………KMD Driving School had parents night on Monday……….. and I learned those lovely passenger side breaks drivers ed cars have, you can get in your personal vehicle!!! And Perk’s Auto RepAir in Oakland installs them!!!! Highly recommend KMD Driving School if you have a child getting close to going to driver’s ed there the best place to go hands-down!!! You won’t find any place that cares about your child as much as Mike does!! Well worth the money paid and hour travel time one way! My son will also go here when the time comes!!!

Fantastic experience: Everyone at KMD driving school was great! My son told me that he enjoyed the class and had fun which says a lot because he does not like school much and learning has always been a struggle. Mike and Nathan were both very great with my son and helping him learn, now he loves to drive!

Fantastic experience: I thought learning about driving would be boring but Mike made it very easy to follow along. My driver Nathan was very good at teaching me how to drive in the car and helping get used to driving in a car. I would definitely recommend this school

Fantastic experience: So far we are absolutely thrilled in our daughters progression. Couldn't be more pleased. They are all so pleasant. Mike Perkins really has been one of the most upstanding people I know of. He really puts his heart into the community, the kids, his career and businesses.

Negative experience: Having students drive on route 3 well under the speed limit during the commuting hour, while having a tail light out doesn’t seem to be a good way of teaching the youth or promoting good driving habits. I would find another driving school to teach your children to drive if I were you. The poor child that had to endure the line of cars attempting to fly past them to get to work must have been terrified judging by their swerving as cars passed.

Negative experience: I hate to do this but I've been given no other choice unfortunately. Back in 2020, my daughters daycare program (Educare sponsored by KVCAP) to have me get 5 driving lessons. I couldn't make my first one due to a family emergency (my new NICU baby born. ) They said the would reschedule and never did, I called back a week later. No response, I called back a month later very upset and they said they would call back, no response. I called back 6 months later even angrier. No response. I called back in 2021, and then in 2022. march 2023 I had gotten my license. I just wanted the money refunded back to the proper channel or for me to get my lessons that were paid for. Now that I have my license, I am not in need of the lessons. I just find it extremely unprofessional that if you miss one session and they promised to give you a call back to reschedule and then they never do and they avoid your calls when you call them and then say they will have the owner reach out and the owner never does, I'm extremely dissatisfied with the whole process and hope that Kvcap gets their money refunded.

Negative experience: The instructors themselves weren't terrible, and I was able to pass my written test with no difficulty. However the receptionist there is incredibly rude, and instructor I actually drove with was very abrasive and not incredibly helpful when it came to things I would need to pass a road test. Each class was incredibly stressful because it was full of juvenile delinquents that shouldn't be trusted behind the wheel of any vehicle. All the students in my class were incredibly loud, disrespectful, and immature. Perhaps I was just unlucky with my experience, but it made me a nervous, and overall bad motorist. Can't say I would recommend. Mike and Dave were pretty good instructors though.

Fantastic experience: Had my motor cycle class this weekend! Teachers and all involved were amazing and very helpful. I would definitely recommend this class to anyone who wants to enjoy the open road! I got my license within a 3 day span and now I'm on the open road! Thanks again, Mike, Bryan and Justin! OH also Sam and his grandfather!

Negative experience: This place is the most unorganized mess that I’ve ever had the displeasure of doing business with . The driving course was agreed on at a price of $650 I signed the papers and put a $300 down payment on the course. Three weeks before her start of the driving course I made the last payment and was informed the class went up by $25 . I signed a contract at $650 and asked them to honor that price and they agreed . it took well over a month to get a driver to take her for her first practiced Drive. My daughter being very happy that she passed the course I went down with her to get the permit when they informed me I owed $250 more . I had to dig through all the receipts and go to the bank to prove that I paid the $650 . at this point with no apologies they informed me that without the $25 gas surcharge she wouldn’t be receiving her permit . it now appears the owner is too busy with his political career to be bothered by minding his business . I have two other kids that are next in line for permits and I’ll drive 100 miles from my house to avoid that place .

Negative experience: I paid a lot of money for my 16 yr. old to learn drivers Ed. There was about 10 students in this class. She took the course and passed. She hasn’t driven with an instructor once. Actually, only 2 students have driven. Excuses after excuses at first. It’s been a month and a half. Still no word and no call back! I get it, Covid and being short staffed. But, come on already! They don’t deserve this!

Fantastic experience: I took my motorcycle course through them ! I had the pleasure of having Mr perkins the owner the first night ! He was a great teacher and one funny guy very professional! I had brian as a coach for the other two days and he was excellent as well I would highly recommend kmd driving school for all you driving needs

Fantastic experience: I took the motorcycle class having only ridden mopeds and scooters prior. Listen carefully to the instructors and you too can obtain your motorcycle license from KMD in just one weekend. This class is designed to put a big emphasis on motorcycle safety. The instructors treat you like an adult and expect you to follow directions. They have been riding for decades and passed on important knowledge. I can now confidently hit the road and feel I know what it takes to stay safe on a motorcycle.

Fantastic experience: Maine State Representative Mike Perkins and his skilled staff at KMD driving school are awesome. The study is fun but intense and worth it for any student who wishes to get behind the wheel and enjoy the privilege and opportunity to drive. I Highly recommend!!

Fantastic experience: I went to KMD in Oakland and I cannot recomend them enough. It was a drive for me as I lived in wilton but they were then only ones available when I turned 15. The instructor was an ex Sherif and was super detailed and went above and beyond telling story's from his time as a officer and warning us about the many dangers including drunk driving. Yes I've heard a lot of not so great things about the drivers ed at Mt. Blur. From what I hear the male instructor is older and tends to fall asleep during drives with the students. The instructor even had every single student write down his name and number on our books and told in his exact words "if you guys are ever in a bad situation, say at a party and are drunk or impaired and need to leave. Do not hesitate to call me. I'd rather wake up to a call at 3am to come bring you home then wake up the next morning to see your name on the front of a newspaper for a fatal accident." They had everyone in the group use drunk goggles and try to pick up and identifie small objects and such. He was very through They also have an auto shop connected to the building where they go super in depth on how to fix roadside break downs more than just changing a tire and go into detail on how an engine works and all the components work on a car to better the students understanding of the vehicle to operate it safely. Compared to the horror storys of the drivers ed classes near my home I would pick them every time. They even accepted me into their program when I lived and hour and a half away which entitled the driver driving to my house to get my driving hours in and then driving to the class.

Positive experience: My grandson was signed up right before this COVID shutdown so we had to wait. Understandable. When they "opened", classes were on Zoom for the first week, then AAA for the next two with the final day on Zoom again. Then the permit test the next day ( he passed without any problem). However, the issues I had were (1) the parent meeting the night before they started was supposed to be for an hour and they were hard pressed to make it last 20 minutes. Meanwhile people had to rearrange any schedules they had and this was unnecessary. (2) payment of $565 for KMD was the quote in March and then there was an additional charge for AAA which was in addition to that money ( they said the STATE required it; but in March they didn't?). (3) I gave disinfecting wipes to a student when the driving instructor was seen (by myself AND the students mom!) NOT disinfecting the vehicle between students. (4) The driving instructor would NOT wear a mask (I do believe this was a state requirement that determined their opening again) yet a blind eye was turned by the owners. (5) I watched a driving instructor drive in in her own car, grab her purse and phone, exit her vehicle, get into a car labeled "Student Driver" and drive out of the parking lot onto the main road to pick up a student at home ALL THE WHILE TALKING ON HER CELL PHONE! Students were in the parking lot and also saw this! Again the blind eye was turned I believe due to the "Oh well" response when I reported this. All of this could have and should have been addressed by the owner(s). While I appreciate the casual atmosphere, there are certain important requirements that needed to be followed and some of them were blatantly ignored. The rating I gave was because my grandson is happy to have received his permit and does not like to "make waves". But I did concur with several parents and agreed to post an honest review.

Negative experience: They require you to pay up front for the class which wasn’t a problem. But I ended up feeling sick 5 days before my class and called to give them a heads up I was feeling sick and didn’t want to take a chance on getting anyone else sick. I didn’t want to cancel my class simply wanted to move it back a week so that I kept everyone safe. Because of thinking of others safety they said if I rescheduled I would lose what I put down and have to pay again. Horrible experience. Especially during a pandemic this should never be a case. Absolutely ridiculous do not recommend.

Fantastic experience: Twice I have brought my vehicles in for work, and are very friendly, knowledgeable and just a great group of people. Highly recommend these folks for any of your needs!

Fantastic experience: If you're going to take the basic motorcycle class, GO HERE! Mike and Bryan are excellent teachers and their bikes are perfect to learn on. You won't be disappointed.

Negative experience: Had a class full of 10 people. And everyone passed but me. People that had never touched a bike before, they were putting their feet down stalling there bikes couldn't turn in the corners, dumping the bikes on the ground. I past my written test, never stalled, put my foot down or dumped the bike. They told me I did a great job and he knew I would have no problem getting my license on the road test. They failed me because I "couldn't follow directions". I apparently went on the wrong side if the weaving cone. I followed what the person in front of me did. They got their license. Paid $350 for nothing. Would not recommend this place to anyone. What a scam.

Fantastic experience: Took the 2 day class in Scarborough for can am. I highly recommend taking the course even if you are a beginning driving. Very informative with a high emphasis on safety. Thank you mike.

Fantastic experience: I just finished the course tonight. And I would love to say sooo much. Honestly, I'm actually sad about leaving. But I'm super happy and EXTREMELY grateful. This place deserves more than 5 stars. The instructors are INCREDIBLE!!! ♥️ I was nervous. I've had my permit before. Got into an accident as a passenger and refused to try for my license until I was ready. This year was that time. MY year. But I had a lot of anxiety. I'll tell you what... This place has made me feel SOO much better. Seriously, they're amazing. Mike is HILARIOUS. He teaches in such a fun, relaxing, non stressful kind of way. It REALLY matters. I didn't realize how much good he does for Maine. He's honestly an incredible person and an OUTSTANDING teacher. I would take Drivers Ed all over again just to be taught by him. Lol. And Tina... ♥️ She's a favorite FOR SURE. She doesn't mess around. None of the instructors do, but she's got a good sense of humor and she's so sweet! Her teaching is pretty excellent. Such a good person. Rick is there to (he doesn't teach Drivers Ed I believe, but he's there doing a bunch of other important things, lol), and he's really humorous. All the instructors have a close relationship and they really do make you feel like family while you're there. It's sweet and super comforting. 100 out of 100!!!!! I recommend KMD Driving School in Oakland 1,000%. ♥️♥️♥️ Thank you guys SOOOOO much!!!!!

Negative experience: Dissapointed. This class is designed for those who already know motorcycle basics. I recommend you buy a bike and learn BEFORE you take this course.
