Daytona Driving School: Reviews
Negative experience: Do not waste your time at this school these are the most lazy people I've have ever seen you give them a call they don't pick up during open hours. And if they do they'll say we'll reach back to you and it'll take them up to 2 weeks to do so and to add on top of that they're really bad at planning for classes it took them a MONTH to take my first class over there never spending a DIME again.
Negative experience: My son attended Daytona Driving School for approximately three months, and our experience was nothing short of frustrating. While the lessons started off decently, the instructor stopped contacting us after only 5 or 6 lessons. It took more than five calls just to get a response and find out when lessons would resume. When the instructor finally started communicating again, it was sporadic at best. He rarely responded to messages and would often schedule lessons last-minute, making it difficult to plan anything. My son did manage to complete his lessons, but the issues didn’t stop there. Yesterday, at 1 PM, I was informed that his road test was scheduled for 8 AM today—a mere 19 hours’ notice. This left us scrambling to prepare. At 8 AM this morning, the instructor called to ask about paperwork, only to mention a document we had never been told was needed. This oversight meant my son couldn’t take the test, but the instructor still demanded payment. We informed him that we’d be rescheduling the test ourselves and that the funds he used to book the road test could cover the 15 minutes he spent with my son this morning. However, instead of conducting a proper pre-test lesson as promised, all they did was drive to the test site—no instruction at all. This entire experience has been a nightmare. The lack of professionalism, poor communication, and overall disorganization make Daytona Driving School a complete waste of time and money. I wouldn’t recommend this school to anyone—not even my worst enemy. Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere.
Negative experience: 3/2/24 Calling, Calling, Calling. Can't get thru !!!
Fantastic experience: This place is amazing. I took the 7 lesson package and passed the road test on my first try. I appreciate this school so much!
Fantastic experience: I received my driver's license at the age of 46. And for this I thank and credit Dayton Driving School. Thank you for the motivation and belief during all the time I was learning to drive. I want to thank Phil (your grind and slip technique helped during the exam) and Bob (thank you for teaching me to be a careful driver) separately. I want to thank Ray especially for all the help thanks to which I have my license. Definitely recommend this school. One of the best schools in the area.
Fantastic experience: Both of my kids obtained their license through Daytona Driving School. They were very accommodating with their lesson schedule & very patient with their lessons. I highly recommend using Daytona Driving School, if you’re considering them for your driving lessons.
Negative experience: New in town and there where no other driving schools available so had no choice, the instructor "Bob" was very discouraging , he would hit the brake for no reason to make it seem as if you have no idea how you are driving, he wouldn't hold himself accountable for his misdirections, lastly about Mr. Bob his last words were oh you aren't ready to pass the road test mind it its all a scheme to get you to pay for more classes , only positive thing I can say about this driving school is the one instructor "phil" if you do choose to give them your money personally request Phil he is more easy going and the complete opposite of bob. Oh and almoat forgot Mr Bob I got my license today on 11/14/2023 first try, 2 months after you said i wouldn't and no I did not take any other driving course.
Negative experience: Customer service, or lack thereof, is poor at best. Multiple calls/texts with the promise of call back never happened. I am a 3x repeat customer, but I guess that doesn't matter. Not going to beg for service so we went with another driving school in the area who was great, and RESPONSIVE. I would suggest you hire someone to take appointments instead of the guy driving and trying to take appointments at the same time. Isn't that a poor example from a driving school anyway? lol. Would not recommend obviously.
Negative experience: This company gives very poor service, it took several calls to reach someone, once I got through I scheduled the online 5hr class.. it been almost a month of me trying to reach the person again to pickup my certificate.. the MB is full now, so I can not leave a VM.. its horrible! DEFINITELY WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.
Negative experience: I've been trying to schedule lessons for a few weeks now but its impossible to get someone on the phone. Emails and texts are also ignored.
Negative experience: Haven’t picked up any of my calls and seem very unprofessional if 0 stars I would
Fantastic experience: Ray, Evan and Bob I am very grateful to you for giving me confidence!!! loved every lesson with you guys! it's hard to handle me, but you knew and didn't leave me alone! I recommend them to everyone who wants good instructors! I got my driver's license and I'm very happy
Fantastic experience: We are now happy to have a new driver in our house. Daytona DS is a great place to go with. My wife’s schedule was very odd. Ray, the owner, tailored a way to have my wife at training very constantly at different times every week. We want to thank you the three different trainers that made possible such achievement. Prices for training are moderate and we pay as we go. Thank you Ray for your personality and your compromise with customer. Thank you for you patience. My two teenagers kids are next. Good luck!!!
Negative experience: They don’t return text or calls when you finally get In Contact with them . Sign says they are open for 2!hrs
Negative experience: it is a bad school and the one who attends is very mediocre I do not recommend this place, go to another better academy
Negative experience: Whoever is responsible for repsonding via text/phone needs to loose there job…trued tsking 5 hr on phone an they kicked me out class when my camera was on then text me saying i wasnt in by 5 camera wasnt on when i showed him my call log showing i was in class exactly at 5 they said you can reschedule next Wednesdayterrible servife will not recommend this to anyone i could get better customer service from a 5 year old
Fantastic experience: My daughter has taken lessons as well as the five hour zoom course with Mr. Juliano. Not only did he make her feel comfortable and at ease, she told me she felt more comfortable practicing with him than me ! That says a lot! He was extremely precise with my daughter while explaining the rules of the road and the things she would be doing, but he was also very receptive to my chatter and questions. That says a lot! The office staff is extremely welcoming and friendly as well. I have every confidence that Daytona has instilled confidence on the road in my daughter. Thank you.
Fantastic experience: I passed my very first road test today with ease thanks to Evan the instructor! Daytona made sure I knew all the things the testers look for in a good driver. They taught me how to parallel park and K-turn just the way the testers want you to do. They also helped me with just driving, coasting and turning. I highly recommend their service!!
Fantastic experience: I took 3 lessons with them and passed my road test on my first try with additional practice of course
Fantastic experience: Five stars
Fantastic experience: Just add on to my son's positive experience, we have nothing but good things to say. When we called and left a message, the owner followed up rather quickly. In addition, we had a touch schedule. My son plays sports and works. I thought we would never get time but they worked with us. We would be contacted before each appointment. My son said they gave him many good tips or rules of the road. They took him on the highway, showed him how to parallel park and much, much more. He also took the 5 hour course. First time road test and passed! A+++++++
Fantastic experience: Very good driving school. I would definitely recommend this to anyone. Ray and Evan are so professional and teach everything well until u get the perfection and the confidence that makes u drive very comfortably and to clear the test. They Make complete use of ur class time to teach. Thank you so much for all the patience.
Fantastic experience: EDIT MAY 2021-After 9 months of lessons & 1 failed road test,, I got my license! Thanks Ray & Evan, you did a great job helping me. As I stated below, i was an older student with little experience. Previous part of review left on Jan 2021: I'm a current older student. As with most typical bronx/city people, we never bothered to learn how to drive unless it was necessary lol. The point is, that i've been taking lessons since September 2020 & everyone has been great. All 3 instructors I've been learning under have been very nice. The owner is a good guy, him and his staff are doing the best they can considering the circumstances with COVID-19 this year so people need to cut them some slack. They teach and go over everything including the basic, day to day stuff you as a new driver completely gloss over; pulling into parking lots, filling up at the station, etc. Thumbs up from this bronx girl who is a 1st time driver at 40.
Fantastic experience: Ray and his instructors are amazing , excellent instructors , my son felt very comfortable and learned so much about being a safe driver. Passed his test first time, Thank you so much Ray and everyone at Daytona so grateful my son learned to drive with Daytona
Fantastic experience: great experience, Evan is a very good instructor he is very professional and patient and I passed my road test on the first attempt, and it was a pleasure dealing with Dave to schedule my lessons and his 5-hour class is very good he does not Sugar Code the important safety information
Fantastic experience: I read a few of the comments and personally i think they’re way off. The staff is very easy to communicate with, they care about you passing more then you do and they come with a lot of great stories no matter who your teacher is. you just have to focus and get what you signed up for just got my license at 22 years young thanks to these guys. Special shoutout to Evan for being the kick in the a$$ i needed couldn’t do it without you much love.
Negative experience: Would NOT recommend Daytona to anyone looking for a positive experience. The receptionist, Mary, is in the office about 2 hours a week if that and it is nearly impossible to get anyone on the phone. If you are able to reach someone, she gets frazzled once she answers the phone and it is nearly impossible to schedule anything. Beyond that, there are few words that do justice in describing the owner, Ray. He is pompous and condescending and beautifully encapsulates the stereotype of a slimy businessman. From berating students during the 5-Hour Course for not speaking fluent English to scolding new drivers for every single thing they do on the road, he creates the complete opposite of a comfortable environment that’s conducive to learning. Send your children literally anywhere else!
When you or your child comes here to learn to drive, Taylor, you should always expect to be in an environment that fosters learning. I can assure you that our receptionist is here everyday and is always willing to anser any question you have. As for my teaching style, I always want students to feel comfotable in the classroom as well as in the car. I apologize if your experience was anything less than stellar, and if you deicde to give us another shot, we'd welcome the opportunity to impress you.
Best,
Ray J., Owner
Negative experience: Our street has a clearly visible no U turn sign. I was out in my yard and saw a car pulling a weird u turn in front of my house a few hundred feet past the sign. Then I saw Daytona Driving School on the car with a student and teacher in passenger seat! Waved them down and pointed to the sign and the teacher said oh I didn't see it! Would not want them teaching my son or daughter to drive.
Fantastic experience: They are very experienced. Provided excellent training to the drivers. I got my license in first road test. So I hope it's going to be same for all.
Kanwal, when you come here for driving classes, you can be assured that we'll teach you everything you need to know in order to pass your road test. I'm thrilled to hear that you passed on your first try, and we'll be here if you have any additional questions or concerns. -Ray J., Owner
Fantastic experience: Very professional and gives good advice while being patient.
When we teach someone to drive, we always want to make sure we give great advice while helping the student feel comfortable. I'm so glad you had a great experience working with us, and we'll be here if you have any additional questions or concerns. -Ray J., Owner
Fantastic experience: Excellent attention...excellent teachers very professional, very kind...today I passed my road test.
Negative experience: Receptionist was extremely condescending and rude when I tried to schedule my appointment. Did not offer any type of assistance and basically told me they were booked until October (it's August). Do not recommend Daytona to anyone - they can suck a fat one.
Negative experience: They are very rude .... i dont like the experince at all !!!
Fantastic experience: I would like to thank the staff at Daytona Driving School for being so patient with me. The secretary has done more than an awesome job at returning all of my calls , she always made sure I was scheduled at all times her personality is simply warm and gentle. My instructor Bob worked very closely with me he took his time and was very patient. Its amazing how I went from NO driving experience not knowing anything about the roads or a car. I did not even know how to start a car, I did not know where the gas and break pedals were not even how to signal. I went from the most terrified person on the road to feeling safe and confidant on the road and passed my first road test exam yesterday 12/13/16 . The onsite classes where very useful and informative the whole experience is not a waste of time. I am truly grateful to the staff and the company it self. Highly recommended. Thank you all.........
Fantastic experience: I was very pleased with the overall experience - the staff was accomodating - the few times I had to reschedule my lessons, they found a time that was suitable for me. The instructors did an incredible job with preparing me for my road test - I passed on my first try! I can proudly say that I am a safe driver thanks to the staff of Daytona driving school.
Negative experience: They never answer the phone and if you are unfortunate enough to sit through their five hour class I feel sorry for you. My girls took their class and could stop criticizing their lack of professionalism, rudeness and scare tactics the whole way home. One of my girls was literally shaking and in tears by the time we got home from the way they presented the material. Additionally, they were discriminatory and rude to non-English speaking participants in the class. They have no business operating.
Negative experience: Honestly had the worst experience here. The people were unprofessional and rude. They took my 5 hour sheet and then told me they lost it so I had to pay $17 to get it back. Also, Mary the receptionist literally never answers the phone so it's nearly impossible to get in touch with this place of businesss. Not sure why her job is answering phones if it always gets sent to voicemail. Oh well.
Negative experience: I would give this school zero stars if it was an option. I think there is a part-time clerk who is in the office a few hours a week. She is not capable of returning any phone calls, much less scheduling more than 2-3 driving lessons at a time. She enjoys giving lectures on how horrible a driver your child is and I get the privileged of paying for this. RUN from this school.
Negative experience: The most unprofessional school I experienced yet. Not sure what looks worse? The car or the instructor? The male who arrived to pick up my child was sloppy looking and rude. If you are looking for a school to build up your childs confidence THIS IS NOT THE SCHOOL. He was so unprofessional with his negative comments and tactics of teaching. Also no one ever is available to answer the phone when you call the office.
Negative experience: This driving school just stole my son's money. One of the drivers intimidated my son after a minor traffic accident. The driver told my son that he should give him $200 or else his insurance will go up. As a fairly new driver and just over 18, he believed the driving school instructor. NOT ONLY DID THIS MAN TAKE HIS MONEY, BUT HE ALSO TOOK HIS INSURANCE INFORMATION! My husband went to the driving school to confront them and he told him to "sue them". What a crooked group you are. You are a driving school and most of your clients are teens. How dare you intimidate someone in your target client group.
Fantastic experience: A great experience for my son, and a huge relief for me. Everyone who works there was helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable.
Negative experience: It would be nice if they answered my calls...
Fantastic experience: I recently took my road test and passed. I wanted to thank everyone at Daytona for their assistance. I am over 40 and due to a bad car accident, I was very nervous. Daytona instructors were patient and skilled. Due to my high demand job, they worked with my schedule. So if I could do it, so can anyone else and Daytona Driving school Staff are the people to help make that happen. Thank you again guys.
