JP is very passionate about teaching you to be safe on the road and sometimes that comes across as arrogance and rudeness, but it comes from a good place. If he really mistook you for another student and gave the wrong person the certificate, that's a huge mistake. I would need some more information about that. He has moved on though.

We are a bilingual school, so we definitely try to work with people that speak all different types of languages. We make use of Google Translate to interact with anyone. That might not have been the case back in 2019, when you took the course, but rest assured that we're working to make it better.

According to the reviews, students felt he was a little harsh in his approach, but it comes from a good place. I don't know about how many hours he worked before the class. If it was 12 hours, it definitely wasn't all with the school. The number of coaches depends on the number of students. If there were 6, or less, students there would be 1 coach. 7, or more, students mandates, at least, 2 coaches. Sometimes there would be a trainee or another coach that might help out while waiting for his/her class to start or before leaving.

I disagree that the course doesn't teach you about negotiating traffic. During the exercises where you ride the simulated circuit, we start asking you to watch on your own and decide when it's safe to go. Throughout the class you always have to keep your head up and on a swivel to watch for your classmates. You don't have to be a first class driver, but you have to have some basic knowledge of the road. That's why the course requires your driver's license. No curriculum is perfect. People aren't perfect, so the things that we make won't be perfect. I guess, having things thoroughly explained is a personal thing. Some students would disagree. As far as the testing is concerned, I don't see where you're coming from there. You're ability to observe, think, react, control the bike, stop or swerve suddenly is all tested. What else would you want to test?

Typically, thunder storms are temporary, so we'd just wait it out. I'm not sure why that would garner a refund. There is a refund policy. Refunds are given in certain situations, but not for simple things.

According to the reviews, students find his approach a little prickly, but it's coming from a good place. At any rate, he has moved on.

I'm sorry that you found the classroom boring and redundant. Unfortunately, most students don't catch on the first time they're introduced to something, so some redundancy is necessary to make sure the information sticks. The tests that you have to take in the class are mandated by the DMV and MSF. That has nothing to do with the school. Those are the same at every school that offers the course. As far as the facilities are concerned, it's a classroom, not a luxury hotel room. I haven't seen any other complaints about that. It's spacious, clean, room temperature, modern media is used, bathrooms are there and also clean. I'm not sure what else you would want for a classroom.

Hi, William. Thank you for your review. I got my motorcycle license through this school in June of 2008. It happened to be one of the hottest weekends of the year, so I can relate. During my class, the owner actually brought one of those big orange Igloo cooler buckets, with the button operated spout, full of ice water, and cups for us. We took a lot of breaks. There were vending machines on site with snacks and Gatorade, which proved useful. If ever in a situation like that again, yes, I would suggest you bring water, healthy snacks, and Gatorade, Powerade, coconut water, or some similar drink with electrolytes. The weather was brutal that weekend, but nobody could control that. The staff, however, wasn't brutal.

I see you left us a 1 star review, saying the class was rushed and not for a true beginner. The course isn't for everybody. The MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) tries to structure it in such a way that it would accommodate most people, but different people learn different things differently. For some people, sports may come easier to them. For some, it's math. For others, it may be driving or riding. If something you want to or need to do doesn't come easy to you, it means you're going to need more time, effort, and practice than someone that it comes easy for. Additional lessons (before and/or after) are absolutely a good idea, if you fall into that previous category.

I must say, Marty was one of my coaches when I took the course in 2008 and I worked with JP from about 2015 to 2020. I have a different opinion of them from what a lot of the reviews are saying. Just, understand that motorcycling is a dangerous, potentially deadly activity, if you don't take it seriously. That's all Marty and JP are trying to get across. I guess, they don't serve that information smoothly. It's like food that's good for you, but tastes bad, apparently. Hi, York. We're under new management. I am the new owner. However, I've worked for the school since 2015. I can't speak for the specific instructors you had, but as far as I know, even before you come to the class, we tell you what you need to pass. You have the written test at the end of the classroom session and the riding evaluation and the end of the riding sessions. You need to pass both to get your certificate, but if you fail either, or both, you get a free re-test. That's discussed before and during the course and is the same across the country. Maybe, it's possible you weren't paying attention or misunderstood something? I know that I, the other coaches I've worked with, and the front desk mention this several times.

Hi, Mogul... All negative reviews? We're above 3 stars. That's not good enough for me. We can definitely do better, but we do have several 5 star reviews. Sometimes, when you have a mixed bag like that, you have to be wary of some outliers and experience it for yourself. You could have been on the 4 to 5 star end of the spectrum.

At any rate, we're under new management. I got my license through the school in 2008, started working for them in 2015, and took over this year. A lot has changed. The staff is different. We don't currently offer the MSF course. We do everything one-to-one.

If you haven't gotten your motorcycle or driver's license yet, or know anyone that's trying to get theirs, please reconsider us.

We had to follow their policies, procedures, and guidelines.

You're right, the course isn't for everyone. Some people do need additional training before the course. I even recommend additional training after the course, even if you passed. The MSF recommends further training also. We currently don't offer the course that you took, but we do offer one-to-one lessons and take you to your road test. I'm not sure who you were dealing with at the front desk, but they were always friendly with me, even before I worked here. Also, I see a lot of reviews, across several platforms, concerning rude coaches/instructors.
You won't see my name mentioned in that regard. I believe that, even though motorcycling is a potentially dangerous, even deadly, activity, you can get your point across without being rude. I feel that you catch more flies with honey than vinegar. You should only be as loud and forceful as the situation requires (for some people, it's necessary, if nothing else has worked). For me, patience and being calm and understanding win the day. At any rate, they're not here anymore anyway. We have new staff.
