Lane County Driving School, "LCDS"

Negative experience: Was disappointed in Emily the owner for not letting me try because of my limb difference and instead lied and said it was Insurance that said no when the Insurance doesn’t care about whether I have limb difference or not. I was hoping she would be honest about it but it didn’t happen.

Fantastic experience: Fun and educational. Made learning a lot easier and more hands on to get the full experience. Very nice and understanding staff too ✨

Positive experience: Teachers Emily and Jessica, driving instructor Patty. They're all super kind and friendly and fairly understanding of error, I'm pretty comfortable being here. Teachers provide good incentives for participation and encourage talking to others and sharing experiences. The break being so early in the day sometimes makes it kind of hard to focus for the whole time depending when we start the test and my class is very early in the morning

Positive experience: Overall great place. Love the environment, it’s always a great time, and instructors are extremely helpful. Lots of laughs and competition in the classroom, while also engaging and useful. Wish that Drive Logs were emailed directly to the students, but otherwise great place.

Fantastic experience: I had private lessons with Patty. She taught me how to handle the car in the different situations and what to look for when I'm driving. She was very helpful, we achieved all of my goals for the lessons and I got my license!

I felt so confident during my test thanks to her she has lots of helpful tricks that make driving feel easier and makes you feel comfortable during lessons. Scheduling was super easy and lessons always felt very thorough. Loved my experience 100% recommended!!!! Thank you so much everyone at LCDS :)

Positive experience: My overall score reflects my whole experience with LCDS. While I think they did a good job of teaching my teenager how to be a responsible driver, I feel the business wields it's no tolerance policy like a weapon to their benefit. The reason for this statement is based on my experience. LCDS really drives home their no tolerance policy, which is meant to protect their employees from rude and aggressive customers and parents. They really drive home their attendance policy and charge people for being late. They really spent a lot of time explaining how important it is for everyone to be on time and that their time is very valuable, which I agree with. Imagine my shock when the school was letting kids out up-to 30 minutes early, which is a violation according to the state representative at ODOT I spoke to. The school is supposed to provide three full hours of instruction a day. I was very confused about this, so I emailed the staff at LCDS to ask why our kids were being let go early. Before I even started a conversation with their office staff, I knew I had to do my best to use positive language and smiley faces to communicate positive intent and to make sure I wasn't sounding rude. Well, the owner told me I was being passive aggressive (is that what positive tone and smiley faces represent these days?) Which violated their no tolerance policy and I was being threatened to have my kid kicked out, which would have resulted in a loss of $500. All I did was inquire about why kids were being released early. I'm guessing the owner doesn't appreciate being questioned. Once the no tolerance threat was made, I stopped communication with LCDS and called ODOT instead and they told me that the kids should not be allowed to leave the class until the full 3 hours were completed. After my call, LCDS announced to the kids that they wouldn't be allowed to leave early anymore. So my advice and warning to all parents is, do not even communicate with the owners if you sign up. If you do communicate, make sure it's over the phone, record the conversation for your protection, and do not even appear to challenge or question the owner. Don't show any emotions that can be used against you, and if you have any issues, reach out to ODOT for help. Other than that, I'd recommend using them for their services as long as you protect yourself.

Fantastic experience: After multiple failed permit tests at the dmv, I enrolled my oldest daughter in the LCDS Permit Preparedness class! It was so worth it because upon completion we went to the dmv, she tested, and got her permit! Then I signed up both of my daughters for the Drivers Ed course. It was amazing knowing that someone with more knowledge of the road, & rules, would teach them the skills needed to become licensed drivers! As a busy mom of 4 I didn’t have the time to spend behind the wheel with them every week. LCDS saved my life. Jessica is amazing & my daughters really liked both of their instructors. They both just completed drivers ed & will soon be licensed drivers! I love that they can go straight to the dmv, no additional testing needed, & get their license. Plus I’ll get a discount on my insurance! Definitely money we’ll spent!

Fantastic experience: My daughter had a blast in both the permit preparedness class and driving instruction class. She even taught me a few things . Tina and Dan made my daughter more confident behind the wheel and I feel LCDS gave her all the tools and success she needs, to be a safe and responsible driver. I have recommended this business over and over, to all our friends and family who have now also had a positive experience as well.

Fantastic experience: As a current holder of a CDL class A, I pay close attention to "schools" that I may be sending my daughter to one day. I've watched students driving around town with this company and all I can say is, I'd rather share the road with Lane county driving students than most currently licensed drivers. Students are taught courtesy, laws and overall driving common sense. Keep up the good work LANE county driving school!!! Bravo!

Negative experience: It's Wednesday and they are supposed to be open, yet no one answers the phone.

Positive experience: This school has expanded my knowledge of road conditions, and reference points. Things I didn't think about, or think I ever needed to know. The instructors are patient, and there willingness to explain the road conditions when asked; is what impressed me the most they have calmly guided me through each and every one of my drives. This has overall made a lasting impression on me. Definitely recommend

Fantastic experience: I’ve only driven once prior to taking the lessons and even that was a long time ago. I only had 4 days before my test and all those 4 days I took lessons with Brad. He is very nice and a good teacher (Owner as well) hence I got 100% on my driving test. I thank him for everything and helping me out. I definitely recommend this place.

Fantastic experience: I couldn’t have asked for a better driving instructor. Patty taught me all of the basics that I now know by heart, and any fears I had of failing my driving test were alleviated when I was walked through the comprehensive O.D.O.T behind the wheel training. My instructor worked with me when it came to lesson times, was consistently on time, was always friendly, patient, and pleasant to be around throughout all of my lessons. I passed my license test first try. I personally recommend Lane County Driving school to anyone seriously aiming to get their license or any other certification
